Canuckland here. I wanna know why Texas is often stereotyped as a racist state.

You see, I visited Texas when I was in my early teens cause my mom was doing med residency there. Now, we originate from terroristland so I was expecting her to experience some level of discrimination, but to my surprise she was getting along well with everyone. Her favorite professor she had there was an old, white, very conservative christian man, but was kind to everyone he met (dude's gone now, it's a shame). When we came for her graduation, we met a lot of folks like her professor. White, christian, conservative, very obviously Texan, but good people who didn't care what we looked like (though it probably helps that we don't dress like durkadurkas). Same applied for the other minority folk there. No discrimination as far as I could see. Granted this was in Austin, which apparently is San Fran in Texas according to this board's posters, but I didn't interact with any of the hipsters. Now I know that anecdotes!=facts but you'd think I would've at least seen one case of race hate what with this state's reputation.

I think this could apply to a lot of America, even the more conservative parts. Media's always saying America's got a race problem, and sure some problems may exist, but I find with Americans, so long as you carry the "American spirit" or whathaveyou, they're very accepting people. That's not something I can say for many countries.

So why is Texas considered racist? I heard in some rural parts of texas people there tend to be more redneck-ish, but I doubt it's representative of the majority.

Also, I hope you guys secede. Texas is a pretty neat state and the fed is shit.

The main people who say its racist are liberals. I have noticed its part of the liberal narrative to attack anyone who is conservative, votes republican, white, christian etc. is incredibly racist. Part of the reason I am no longer liberal is because I couldn't stand all the liberal talk shows I watched, like the young turks, constantly trying to make me feel guilty for being white.

Texas naturally gives liberals butthurt because it is very conservative, very christian, has been solidly republican since the late 90s, likes guns, and is white (It's actually only 45% white, but it's stereotyped as being majority white by a lot of people, probably because it's a very red state). The icing on top of the liberal butthurt cake however, is that Texas is a very red State and it's very successful.

The only other state you could probably compare Texas to in terms of population and economy is Commiefornia, one of the bluest states in the nation. Compare the two, and Texas usually comes out better. Texas has lower Taxes than Commiefornia, it has better education (only a few ranks higher, but we spend a lot less for it). Stuff generally costs less in Texas, especially land. The percentage of people in poverty in Texas is lower than in Cali (source: Supplemental Measure of Poverty). I think Texas's success makes lots of Liberal intellectuals, journalists, and entertainment creators mad so they feel like they have to take it down a peg every chance they get. Most stories about Texas that I read that make the national news usually have a negative slant, or appear to only make national news cause it makes Texas look bad. They often time bring up our past as a slave and segregation state in order to draw parallels to certain laws Texas enacts that they don't like.

Now there is racism in Texas, you will find that in any State. However, it's usually just unflattering opinions or slurs about certain races from some people. Most people I see in Texas try to be polite as possible regardless of race. They will not attack you or harass you for being gay or being black, or muslim or whatever. I don't give a fuck what race you are, as long you treat me kindly, and I have pretty /pol/ tier views on race. I'm in a more conservative area than Austin, and even the Rednecks don't seem to be that racist, if at all. People are generally kind as long as you treat them kindly.

>Granted this was in Austin, which apparently is San Fran in Texas according to this board's posters

It is the San Fransisco of Texas, in that it is the most liberal place in Texas, but if you compare it to the actual San Fran its still much better. Sure its got some of the same problems, like hipsters and the fact that it's a sanctuary city, but it is different in many ways.

1.) Lower housing costs

2.) Less poverty

3.) Much laxer gun laws (at least I remember it being that way. I only go to Austin to visit relatives so I might be getting this wrong.)

4.) Though very degenerate, Austin is still much less degenerate than San Fran

The main thing I don't like about Austin is that, even though its pretty cheap for a major metropolitan area, it's still more expensive than where I live, and the influx of hipsters and Commiefornians have caused lots of traffic problems. They just cannot create the infrastructure quick enough to handle the influx of foreigners. Please people, stop moving to Austin.

Don't listen to the whining of salty Commiefornia libtards.

Texans are generally very kind and outgoing people. I'm white but i've never seen anyone be subject to racism and i've lived here all of my life, and i used to hang out with a whole lot of middle easterners throughout middle and high school.

Texas is 70% white

Included are pictures of Hispanic mayors of cities with populations under 100,000 in South Texas

At such a small, local level people tend to elect local people. If the locality then is listed as being "80% white Hispanic" and the mayors are white Hispanic it stands to reason that white Hispanics are in fact white.

Also included is a white Hispanic chick from New Mexico and some cute lifeguard chick, Hispanic status unknown.

Such individuals also set a positive example for brown hispanics.

It's why Commiefornia has a problem with radical Aztlan agitators while Texas hispanics are more likely to work so they can enjoy some drinking and hunting out on the ranch.

>make a pilgrimage to the Saxet gun show

>go to Pancho's afterwards

>waiter notices the Saxet stamp on our arms

>we talk about firearms like civilized adults

Even the spics down south who idolize gang culture are virtually harmless. The only real race problem you'll run into is in Houston, the Detroit of Texas.

Dallas is 25% dindu. That's over 1 million in one city, more than the combined total of many European and Asian nations.
