Nercons used to be scary as shit in the old 'dex and even now they are unsettling and at times very well written. Some of the old things about chaos reminds me how well written this setting can be and well I like my some of their novels too.
Comparatively I don't see much of an emotional difference between this and the warcraft setting. Perhaps it's different in WC1-2 or the wack off mmorpg but i was never grabbed by ww3. The fall of lotheron was nice, the things to do with Grom and arthus's storyline was great in general but everything else was bland and rather stupid.

Let's say I have an Inquisitor game. Let's also say that I recently announced to my players that they will probably have a run-in with some Orkz in the near future, and that they predict cheap cannon fodder and and a few quick laughs.
Let's finally say that I want to explore the Orkz as foes that are decidedly not funny to look at, let alone to fight against.
The easiest approach naturally would be to call in a full-sized Waaagh! on the planet my players are currently investigating in the search of a Slaaneshi cult, but that seems a bit overkill. "The Shadow of Mordor", the orc design is just so awesome, their dialogue and taunts is fun and the entire "Saurons Army" is the only reason to actually play the game.
