Has anyone here played a megagames? What were your experiences? Do you know where I could get some free rules?

I'm thinking of making my own ruleset, except tailored online for a much smaller group. I guess it would be more like a boardgame at that point. I like megagames since they're like a tabletop grand strategy game.

Never seen nor played one until this moment. Looks amazing.

Before you try to make it for less players, I'd probably try to figure out the core experience of the game.

I think one of the main things that makes it a megagame is having each team distributed into specific roles/a hierarchy, and at least a half-dozen teams.

However you can still design games with less players around this premise. Looking on Megagame-makers it looks like they do Sengoku era Japan, but it would be just as easy to do Three Kingdoms China or make up your own setting.

Honestly though, the key thing seems to be interaction, and the less people you have the less interactive its going to feel.

I'd love to play a mega game with /tg/ sometime. Maybe one can be planned to run over the course of a few days? Reminds me a little of the Dominion 4 games on /v/

Bump, would also be super stoked to get a hold of the ruleset and digital resources for "Watch the Skies". The game's creators treat each instance of play like a performance, so I'm puzzled as to how to find these things when it's not a commercially available product.

I've been wanting to do one of these for years. None of them happen anywhere near me.

Hello, ^ this guy reporting in again. Found that on their website, they sell the totality of their resources for £30. http://www.pastpers.co.uk/megagame%20packages.htm

Now, I found their Human Handbook publicly accessable at this link (http://www.megagame-makers.org.uk/download/WTS%20Human%20Handbook%20for%20download.pdf), do you think the others are accessable similarly by finding the right name to look for them under in this Downloads directory?

Scratch that. Turns out it's plainly advertised as a free download on their homepage.
