Aww Yeah, love that shit. Used to do it a bunch back in high school. In terms of sites the only one I really know is roleplaygateway.com.

Like I think it's still pretty active but I'm not sure of the quality of the community since I haven't been on it for a couple years. Though it has this nice system where it separates posts, character sheets, and the rp intro.
