Anyone do 6mm wargaming? I've been curious about it for a while, but haven't taken the plunge yet. This KS got my attention recently:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cewargames/polyversal-6mm-miniatures-game-system/description

One huge thing that interests me is it comes with an assortment of minis from different games and will have rules for making my own units. IF it's done well, it would be a starting game I could fall back on even if I try other games and I end up not liking them.

I've looked a little into Dropzone Commander (even have a rule book for it I got cheap a year ago), so I've also seen that it has a 2 player starter set for about $75-$80. Anyone have experience with it?

So, besides these specifics, anyone do any 6mm gaming in general? Any tips or warnings, since I've only ever done 40K?

6mm. Mechs. Not playing Battletech.

Historical. This places needs a historical general thread.

Anyway, Battletech.

I'm aware of battletech and never really had much interest. Can't even really tell you why, I love robots. I know there are roughly a billions years worth of options, but I don't know if it's for me, based on the few times I've seen it played or tried it myself. Maybe it would be different now that I'm in adult and would actually make terrain for it instead of just stacking books or other crap to make an interesting play area.

Also, if my understanding is correct, aren't most games just really small skirmishes with mechs and little else? Or do people actually field forces of varied vehicles and troops? And how do other vehicles and troops fare when a big mutha fucker of a mech slaps their girlfriend's ass?

There are rules for mechs, infantry, tanks, and aircraft as well as space rules and stuff like that. I think that infantry can swarm mechs and can be quite effective. It would be a matter of reading up and seeing how things fair.

I think this link might work: ftp://82.131.16.213.cable.starman.ee/1640%20-%20The%20Battletech%20Compendium.pdf

I started on Battletech then I wanted some tanks for it, I bought some GHQ models as they are the right scale. I then started researching WW2 models and got pulled into Blitzkrieg Command etc.

http://www.mediafire.com/view/ilvbkatboxwz4nq/Blitzkrieg_Commander.pdf

There are other rulesets available for other games. (bolt action, FoW, etc etc).

Joke's on you, people of my country love tanks too much to ever abandon them.

We just need a tank mech.

Maybe I'll check it out later, but I already have that Dropzone Commander rulebook and might get in on that KS (or get in on it next time if it fails this round).

So, does no one really play 6mm-10mm games on here? Would a unified, customizable system like this one open more people up to it? I only play 40K and some Infinity, but is there a definitive game in this scale? I like the look of this KS because it would let me buy minis from anyone and use them, are there any other systems along those lines that work pretty well? And the counters and command hexes make me think they're going for a boardgame meets wargame mix, trying to get the strengths of both. Not sure if they succeed until I at least try out the sample rules though.

You can use THW Chain Reaction system with any minis at any scale.

http://www.twohourwargames.com/index.html

There are also scans floating around of The Commander Series: Blitzkrieg Commander, Coldwar Commander, Future War Commander. You can use any minis for those too.

Mecha aren't feasible, square cube law + they have a gigantic target profile and they can't exactly go hull down.

>>225126

I think 6-10mm are great, but they shine in bringing out the mass effect which works best in historical or fantasy with infantry in lines.

Modern and Sci-fi infantry are pretty much impossible to do right outside of games larger than skirmish and smaller than division counters.

bump for interest.

I don't currently do microarmor but I think I'll start next time I have some extra money. Kinda dissatisfied with the look of larger scale when you have more than one or two tanks on the table.

Big issue here is that you rarely get that many armoured units together in one place to fight it out like that. It'd be mostly infantry with armoured support.
