I'll join in a happy thread.
>been running a decent D&D 5th campaign with friends on Saturdays
>setting's heavily based on lore of Bloodborne (so, naturally, players are having a hard time following along since shit is obscure as fuck)
>they're still enjoying it though, since the campaign is hand-crafted rather than a pre-generated one that the group is used to
>design a "double chimera" boss for them to face next (essentially had double amount of hp and attacks per round, since fighting two of something is less scary than fighting one fuckhuge weird looking thing)
>double chimera is under magical sleep ritual that requires constant reinforcement or else it wakes up
>players run into the priests that are keeping it asleep
>up until this point, pretty much any priest they've come across has either tried to kill them or help something else that wound up trying to kill them
>so they attack
>they take out the immediate relief group for those who are keeping it asleep
>also kill two of the chanting priests keeping the beast asleep
>they were just about to kill the last one necessary to cause ritual to fail and awaken double chimera
>they notice that the chanting priests aren't actively defending themselves, too focused on ritual
>decide to lay off them and even heal one of the chanting priests they injured
>they suddenly realize they just killed this team's relief group
>"We have to kill it now, guys. Or else it's gonna be a big problem later."
>manage to get a full round of damage, drop double chimera to half hp before it wakes up
>players freaked out when I describe how it spends a round ripping and tearing its "dead twin" off
>good tactics ensure the beast doesn't escape and kill it about two rounds later
Overall, it's been a pretty good campaign.
