Man, why does everything suck now?

The players can't roleplay for shit or get easily distracted.

The GMs are completely half-assed.

Every setting is done to fucking death.

New gameplay mechanics suck and the older ones are damn near impossible to teach to new players without a "it's time consuming and hard" bullshit excuse.

TTRPGs are becoming casualized garbage.

Wargaming is pricy as fuck.

Going to a gamestore will end up with your encountering terrible people.

Your friends suck and keep getting distracted.

Finding a game online either ends in disaster or a flake GM.

Can't bother getting up to play because you know it's going to suck.

Can't GM because it's too much wasted effort for a game you'll likely drop in a week or two.

Fucking hell, why does everything suck now. Why aren't things as good as they used to be.

 No.224411

At least you changed the copypasta a little.

Man, why is everything great now?

The players are really immersed in their characters and don't even bring their phones to the table.

The GM did 3+ hours or preplanning.

Every setting is either unique or familiar.

New gameplay mechanics are intuitive and the older ones are easy enough to teach to new players once they've wet their appetites.

TTRPGs may not be as good as the golden age, but they're still better then the iron age.

Wargaming is pricy as fuck

Going to a gamestore will end up with your encountering interesting people.

Your friends are great and are really trying their damnedest.

Finding a game online either ends with only a day or so of wasted effort or a memorable experience.

Can't bother leaving the house to play, luckily I'm hosting this week.

Don't GM because there are other people in my group who are both better at it then me and more willing to do it. I still do one shots when they're burned out though.

Fucking hell, why is everything great now. Why can't things stay this way forever.

Trip-dubs? Very nice, good sir.

>>224414

I love how even in this wave of positiveness you kept that one thing.

So is this the new happy thread?

>going to DM some D&D 5E tomorrow

>if everything goes will it will turn out well it will be a campaign

but wait there is more.png

>probably going to DM something in the weekend too

Absolutely nice

Ah, nihilism-kun. I was wondering where you might have gone. Good to see you're still with us.

 No.224436

Don't worry! I'm sure things will change for the better soon, right?

Right?

 No.224453

Not with that attitude.

I see no reason why it won't.

He used to post threads like this every few days. Then it slowed to once a week. Then the BO changed one of his threads to a "happy thread" and he stopped posting for a little while.

He usually prepares fresh new threads each time, but they are almost always about how nothing matters anymore and how nothing is fun.

 No.224503

>>224500

I like to think he's just an idiot. Depressed or not you've got the "I try so hard and I fail" types and the "try for me I don't wanna" types and the former is gonna try to use D&D to make themselves feel better while the latter is gaping at all the bad because he doesn't know how to do anything else.

But that's just what I say. In fact I don't care.

 No.224513

>>224430

I'll join in a happy thread.

>been running a decent D&D 5th campaign with friends on Saturdays

>setting's heavily based on lore of Bloodborne (so, naturally, players are having a hard time following along since shit is obscure as fuck)

>they're still enjoying it though, since the campaign is hand-crafted rather than a pre-generated one that the group is used to

>design a "double chimera" boss for them to face next (essentially had double amount of hp and attacks per round, since fighting two of something is less scary than fighting one fuckhuge weird looking thing)

>double chimera is under magical sleep ritual that requires constant reinforcement or else it wakes up

>players run into the priests that are keeping it asleep

>up until this point, pretty much any priest they've come across has either tried to kill them or help something else that wound up trying to kill them

>so they attack

>they take out the immediate relief group for those who are keeping it asleep

>also kill two of the chanting priests keeping the beast asleep

>they were just about to kill the last one necessary to cause ritual to fail and awaken double chimera

>they notice that the chanting priests aren't actively defending themselves, too focused on ritual

>decide to lay off them and even heal one of the chanting priests they injured

>they suddenly realize they just killed this team's relief group

>"We have to kill it now, guys. Or else it's gonna be a big problem later."

>manage to get a full round of damage, drop double chimera to half hp before it wakes up

>players freaked out when I describe how it spends a round ripping and tearing its "dead twin" off

>good tactics ensure the beast doesn't escape and kill it about two rounds later

Overall, it's been a pretty good campaign.

>The GM did 3+ hours or preplanning.

Because that's ALWAYS a good thing.

More than 1 hour of prep is usually too much.

 No.224531

OP does have a point. Everything sucks now because there's too many fucking casuals coming into this hobby.

There need to be more games that tell the people playing to go fuck themselves.

 No.224809

>>224523

eh, if the GM is even halfway decent they already realises that it's superfluous.

As long as they aren't set on making sure you experience everything they spent time creating it usually means that you'll have more freedom because they'll have more prepared (or old material they never used that they can recycle.

i'm assuming the issues you have with "overprepared GMs" are more to do with them being shit GMs that also overprepare than the actuall overpreparing.

Sage goes in the email field, newfag.

Or you can use the post options and select "Do not bump"

As for original post, that usually refers to the first post in a thread. If that's not what you mean, then I don't know what you're looking for.

 No.225740

Oh hey, this thread's still up. Thought the BO deleted it by now or changed up my OP text.

I think >>225592 might be asking for the first one of these threads I made. Fuck, it's been so long that I don't remember how exactly it went.

 No.225807

>>225740

I remember it being a little different each time. But you were also making these threads long before we had a new BO anyways.
