Who here Fleet Battles?

I just ordered the RCS class cruisers and CPV heavy destroyers for my covenant fleet, wanted to see if any other fa/tg/uys had played this yet.

I wasn't even aware they made a Halo space combat game. I also want to know more.

I always enjoyed the space battle parts of the old books, even if the series is basically dead to me after 343 took over. How long does a basic battle take, how does it compare to something like Star Wars Armada or Battlefleet Gothic (not that I actually play either)?

It's made by Spartan Games, so it it's similar to Firestorm Armada I assume. (haven't played FA)

A basic battle at like 1k points when starting out could take a few hours, at 2k points, which is normal points level, it's maybe 3-4 hours? Probably shorter if you actually know everything that's going on and can assemble your fleet quickly. It's a fair number of ships at that level!

I haven't gotten to play it too much due to school, but the ships are fun and easy to paint.

The basics of the game are that you make firing solutions with your battlegroups targeting ships with your weapons, then you roll the appropriate number of dice, counting up the number of hits. Based on modifiers like range, type of weapon, etc, you can get re-rolls and such.

If the number you roll equals or exceeds the hull number on the ship, they get to roll armor or point defense and reduce the number of hits. If the number is still over the threshold, they take a damage counter and you compare the leftover to the next damage threshold, which is usually lower. Once you do this three times, a ship is destroyed.

It flows really well once you know what your ships have, and there are terrain modifiers, weapon advantages, boarding combat, commander effects, all sorts of things. It's got a decent learning curve, but overall is pretty easy and fun to play and fuck UNSC MAC guns.

Shilling the starter set: https://shop.spartangames.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=HFBB01

Tons of ships, and the upgrade stuff is cheap too, although the newer ships are resin so not… as cheap.
