I'm also looking for a good map making program, one good at making maps I can print up on my own with no hassle. I'll tell you if I find anything good while I look for stuff.

Thank you! That's exactly what I would like to do. If it comes to it, I'll go get some big grid paper since we're using amiibos and various trading cards for characters. So far, I've found this

I am also on the cruel never ending search for mapping aid. 'Tis a cold and lonely road, especially since I have rather specific and confusing parameters. I'm considering finally sucking it up, and figuring out how to do it in Photoshop (or free alternative depends on how piratey I fee.) but honestly a standard layered image might not be the correct medium, for what I need.
You'll never know!

I'm this guy
For now I've decided to get in on this KS: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1141913215/tiles-of-adventuring-tabletop-grid-system/description
And I may start printing up large, gridless maps to put under the tiles. At worst, I can just draw on the tiles before the adventure, and lay them out as rooms come into play. I went with 9 square tiles, but they have hexes if that's your thing.

That's pretty much it.

I just heard about Inkarnate, haven't had a chance to try it though.
