Since we had a lot of fun last time deckbuilding, why don't we try that again?

Post a legendary creature and a theme, and others can post suggestions for it. Also, we can just talk about interesting cards and interactions, or whatever else related to the format.

To start things off, this fellow, with the goal to be the (((Greatest Ally))) of the table.

Some cards that fit that theme:

Briber's Purse

Conjured Currency

Land Tax

Trade Routes

Gilded Drake

Shrewd Negotiation

Corrupted Conscience

War Tax

Soul Tithe

Guile (with Dovescape as a wincon)

Not running Phage as a general, right anon?

Command Beacon allows him to sneak either of those into his hand.

Torpor Orb negates her ETB effect.

Sundial of the Infinite exiles her ETB effect while it's on the stack.

Then just make her unblockable and kill people.

Haakon can only use Command Beacon out of those tools, but that can be tutored up with Expedition Map or a black tutor.

Then I assume you're going Knight Tribal with Haakon.

You can use Call the Bloodline to make Vampire Knight tokens while you discard knights to be reanimated with him.

There's not too many in black, but Dakmor Lancer kills nonblack creatures when it ETBs, Knight of Dusk destroys creatures blocking it, and Phyrexian Crusader does infect as well as having relevant protections.

I know we're likely to get new cards for it, but I'm already brewing Arahbo. Rate me, suggestions, and, yes, I know Doubling Season would help.

Sacred Cat, Lost Leonin, Grand Abolisher, Whitemane Lion, Qasali Pridemage, Fleeceman Lion, Felidar Cub, Oreskos Explorer, Feral Prowler, Lynx, Qasali Ambusher, Brimaz, Pulsemage Advocate, Skyhunter Skirmisher, Tireless Tracker, Prowling Serpopard, Somberwald Sage, Odric, Master Tactician, Jazal Goldmane, Seht's Tiger, Brawn, Forgotten Ancient, Nacatl War Pride, Regal Caracal, Pride of Lions, Spirit of the Hearth, Sabertooth Nishoba, Felidar Sovereign, Sun Titan, Jedit Ojanen of Efrava, Jareth, Phantom Nishoba, Raksha Golden Cub

Sixth Sense, Rancor, Burgeoning, Armadillo Cloak, Oblivion Ring, Banishing Light, Beastmaster Ascension, Anointed Procession, Parallel Lives, Into the Wilds, Gideon's Intervention

Sol Ring, Sword of the Animist, Swiftfoot Boots, Lightning Greaves, Corrupted Grafstone, Selesnya Signet, Lifecrafter's Bestiary, Horn of Greed, Loxodon Warhammer, Seer's Sundial

White Sun's Zenith, Tribal Unity, Nature's Claim, Sundering Growth, Wing Shards, Forsake the Worldly, Beast Within

Hurricane, Uncage the Menagerie, Waiting in the Weeds, Harvest Season, End Hostilities, Enlarge, Terminus

Ajani, Caller of the Pride, Gideon Jura, Nissa, Worldwaker

I really want to find room for Sword of Fire and Ice, and Adorned Pouncer for no other reason than I'll have at least one card then to pay homage to the first series of Warriors books.

Also considering adding a Pride Sovereign. Definitely looking into what to replace for Mirri, Swords and Path. Kemba and Leonin Shikari are on maybeboard since I would only have 5 equipment then.

Intervention may be swapped with Nevermore, but I don't want to make that call then be on the bad end of a Mikaeus combo.

Lynx is there to troll the local Freyalise player

I've been brewing a Shadowborn Apostle deck with Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker as the General. The deck tutors out Razaketh first, who then fetches Mycosynth Lattice and Darksteel Forge to make everything indestructible (this is mainly to protect Shirei). From here, just keep playing Apostles and fetching indestructible flying Demons. Run graveyard recursion too, just in case.

Is this too cornercase to work? I think the Shadowborn Apostles plus Razaketh make the deck pretty consistent since I don't have to rely on draws, but I could be wrong.

Hey everyone.

I'm working on a Jeskai deck with Narset as general.

The idea is either to simply spam you opponent with burn dmg +blue removal/tax or go into combo with cards like Enter the Infinite.

Enchantments like Burning Sand, Repercussion, Overburden etc. will also be in there cause I'm not planning to play much creatures.

I've got some questions regarding Enter the Infinite + Fateful Showdown.

What will happen if I play Fateful Showdown while having my whole library in hand? The dmg will be enough to kill most oponents but I'll not be able to draw cards after that. Would the game end in a draw ?

Also looking for general sugestions what to throw in the deck and if tokens would be any usefull, they could do more dmg than good when I run board dmg + creature tax.

It will work but it will also be boring after the first few games, both for you and your opponent.

If you want a commander with fat demons go for Ob Nixilis, the Fallen or Rakdos, Lord of Riots.

File: 89b904776bc10c3⋯.jpg (73.35 KB, 312x445, 312:445, 193.jpg)

Currently building pic related, just a pretty bog standard Grixis reanimator list with a few pet cards thrown in.

Also working on Shaman tribal but I don't know who to use for the commander. Meren seems strong for being a repeatable reanimator herself, Sachi looks good for big mana but in shaman tribal I don't know what the big payoff would be, Sek'Kuar looks alright, and Tasigur is an attractive option for the colors. I know that I want to play black and green but nothing else.

(((Meddling Mage)))

Azor's Elocutors

Orzhov Advokist

Norn's Annex

Isperia, Supreme Judge

Plea for power

Mind Control

And then just add a shit ton of counterspells, boardwipes, and mass bounce

The game would be a draw because drawing from an empty library and dealing lethal damage would both check at the same time upon resolution.

Citadel of pain

Price of glory

Forgot to add, is there any card that would let me use Unearth at instant speed? I can't think of any.

File: 5b557b2349e5677⋯.jpg (66.66 KB, 312x445, 312:445, 387.jpg)

Thanks for the help.

Maybe I should add pic related to the deck. It's a great card anyway, not only for the Enter the Infinite + Fateful Showdown combo

Omniscience would perfectly fit in the deck but I'm not so sure about Citadel of Pain and Price of Glory. Although the big spells will come in my own turn I still plan to run a few cheaper instants wich are best when cast in the opponents turn.

No idea if there is a card that lets you use unearth as an instant.

But Illusionist's Bracers are allways nice when your general has an activated ability.

Price of glory deters people from countering or disrupting your combos

Library doesn't seem that good unless you've got a shit ton of loot effects

Brocers don't work in Sedris because he gives the ability to creatures in your graveyard.

I'll test the deck and if counterspells realy become a problem, I'll put Price of glory and some other "anti-counter" in there.

Yea forget that thing with the Bracers, no idea what I was thinking while typing that.

btw. do you know any card that has the effect of Library of Leng but without the no discard phase part ?

File: 98bafd2d1383ffa⋯.jpg (34.69 KB, 223x310, 223:310, Image.jpg)

Why oh why does Mannichi not have a splash of blue?

Nephilia Academy (iirc), a land in eldritch moon, but that only works with opponents' spells. Library is pretty unique.

>he wants advice on Mannichi

…I-I am so sorry.

I'll try to find something but lack of black, actually hurts it a lot. No Death Pits of Rath

Ok, Idea 1: Give Mannichi a fat butt to smack people in the face when you switch P/T:

Slagwurm Armor

Accorder's Shield

Cathar's Shield

Belbe's Armor

Living Armor

Pet card with this: Ogre Menial. Pump once, swing, switch P/T. Especially deadly with the toughness boosting equipment.

Earth Servant can hit hard too.

Soulsurge Elemental

Make Mannichi unblockable with stuff like Goblin Tunneler and Break Through the Ranks before switching P/T.

Idea 2: Fuck with combat and boardstate, with Mannichi another tool for that:

Fumiko the Lowblood

Avatar of Slaughter

Island of Wak-Wak

Price of Glory and similar mentioned in the thread

War's Toll

Circle of Flame (when changing enemy P/T)

Back up his unearth ability with stuff like

Tortured Existence

Phyrexian Reclamation

in case you can't keep him out. Tortured Existence also feeds the GY.

Also, if you exile the unearthed creatures, it gets past the exile at EoT and stays on the board:

Nephalia Smuggler

Conjurer's Closet

Aetherling (does it to himself)

Argent Sphinx

Essence Flux

Ghostly Flicker

Identity Thief

Safe Haven

Endless Sands

Biggest suggestion I have (if that's your entire decklist) is also consider Nature's Claim and Natural State. NS isn't as good as Abrupt Decay, but hits a lot of the same things you'd want to kill with it.

Instead of Hurricane, maybe Squallmonger? It's a repeatable effect and can be used to take down the weakest players as well as politick with others.

Horn of Greed you're not abusing as much as other green decks running stuff like Azusa the Stupidly Annoying Ramper. If you want to run that, how about stuff like Explore/Exploration?

If you want to up your Equipment count: Behemoth Sledge. It's just like Armadillo Cloak but an Equipment.

I don't want to suggest much to take out since the cheap CMC cats tie in well with Arahbo and give you super early beats, and I don't want to dilute your theme, so I am unsure.

Thanks for the suggestions.

As for others related to (((Gwafa Hazid))), I was thinking in terms of these categories:

Clone and other Shapeshifters

Samson Option:

Supreme Verdict

Tragic Arrogance

Wrath of God

Wailing Wall/Border Wall:

Wall of Omens

Wall of Reverence

Mnemonic Wall

Wall of Denial

Sphere of Safety

Reparations/Military Aid:

Steal Enchantment

Steal Artifact

Master Thief

Thada Adel, Acquisitor

Blatant Thievery

Its wincons will be mainly other people's creatures/tools copied/stolen. Why do it yourself when you have good goi to do it for you?

File: 49b5fa7f34d6a9b⋯.jpg (171.19 KB, 464x664, 58:83, Scrambleverse.jpg)

So I've been having fun with this deck. In short it's all a bunch of chance coin flips and forcing everything to be random. Things like Scrambleverse are in here to completely fuck the boardstate.

The deck isn't made to win, it's made to have fun and also make everyone else conede also that moment when both Grip of Chaos and Confusion in the Ranks are on the field and your opponent plays living end.

You want some sneaky shit?

Mirror Gallery (ignore legend rule)

Mirage Mirror

Copy Artifact

Mizzium Transreliquat

Why have one coin flip when you can flip repeatedly?

You don't have to splash into Blue if you don't want to but it gives extra copy effects.

What about cards that let you do direct damage to a creature/player based on a creature's power? To get around wall defender. I tried to add things like that in a prototype deck but it's not so convenient or dependable. Also some kind of wall tribal so we can use coat of arms to prevent our walls from straight up dying.

Rogue's Passage makes Mannichi unblockable. I like the idea though. You're missing some of the most important parts of Wall Tribal with red:

Vent Sentinel

Warmonger's Chariot

You have a lot of cards that shuffle card control, but not Brand?

I've made some changes. Everything is cheap as hell except for these two:

>island of wak-wak: $100

>gauntlet of might: $200

File: d38d4c5ce300c81⋯.jpg (43.4 KB, 600x450, 4:3, wikihow-funny-stress-cats.jpg)

I like that, noting that there's a guy at our table who runs Aven Mimeomancer, so effectively it's a cmc 5. As long as it's a "Rising Storm" the slot keeps the stupid little gimmick I have going on anyways.

Already running Claim, throwing State in maybeboard.

How much equipment would I want to run to make Kemba considerable?

Taking Happy Merchant for a spin today. It seems to be lacking in CA but I'll see how it plays.

I honestly didn't even know that card existed. I'm going to have to add that.

That's another fun one I'm going to have to look at.

Splashing blue is actually a lot more tempting now that I've realized a new interaction among some cards in the deck. From what I just read on the oracle

>If Possibility Storm’s ability doesn’t exile the original spell (perhaps because another Possibility Storm already exiled it), you’ll still exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a card that shares a card type with it and have the opportunity to cast that spell.

Which means Possibility Storm plays nice with Knowledge Pool, allowing me to get two spells off for the price of one. In addition, since I control the stack, and knowledge pool states you only get to use it if Knowledge Pool exile the card, that means only I have access to the Knowledge Pool while everyone else is stuck with only Possibility Storm.

I'm unsure about Eye of the Storm, since it also doesn't contain the "If" like Possibility Storm, however, the errata in the gatherer doesn't have that same ruling as above, so I don't know if the other players get access to it or not, but it's still fun.

I just need more blue to figure out if it's worth splashing blue. Any advice?

>why should I run blue?

Because blue is fun

Also, I suggest using the Sphinx you linked as your general. It's not as threatening to other players like Niv-Mizzet or Melek, and Mindmoil in the Command Zone means you can dig extremely deep into your deck, especially when combined with Thought Reflection and Alhammarret's Archive. Throw in Sphinx's Tutelege and mill people hard, too.

File: 07dd7ed5f4b2994⋯.jpg (32.23 KB, 223x310, 223:310, horobi.jpg)

File: 38b0253e891f6e7⋯.jpg (33.71 KB, 223x310, 223:310, maralen.jpg)

For which of these will I receive more death threats?

I just realized more interactions between Knowledge Pool and and Mirage Mirror and Mizzium Transreliquat. If I copy Knowledge Pool during an opponent's turn, the copy doesn't etb, so nothing is exiled. So essentially the first spell played will be eaten by Knowledge Pool and nothing will happen. When the copy leaves that first spell is gone forever.

Jesus Christ I need to splash blue asap

Meren is not a threat at all. Other people just tutor up removal and kill her before your turn. If you want Combo Black, Sidisi (the monoblack version).

I think Horobi is a classy choice who kills the fuck out of things.

I like you. You have a dirty mind. Don't forget you can troll with wheels (like winds of change/wheel of fortune) to wreck other players' hands especially after a tutor or bouncing permanents back to their hand.

What have I done. I just realized yet another god forsaken interaction. We have Mindmoil on the field along with Psychosis Crawler and Thought Reflection. Mizzium then copies Mirage Mirror, then both Mirage Mirrors copy Mindmoil. Drawing 3 cards becomes a 24 card hand and I have drawn through 42 cards total.

I'm afraid of this power

Congratulations Anon, now instead of Arjun run Nekusar to kill them with kindness and card draws.

Nekusar is boring. He's going to kill himself with card draw, not everyone else!

Speaking of killing yourself with card draw: Laboratory Maniac, just in case.

Already did it after I realized the lethality, thank you.

I'm just having fun exercising my EDH knowledge in this thread, as well as shitposting irl with the jew deck made with the help of the thread, even if the other players don't recognize it.

It was fun before with Baral theorycrafting, and this thread is just the extension of those fun times.

Hey anons, what am I missing? I'm not looking to run Derevi if I can avoid it since it's too easy. I just want fun birds.

>what am I missing?

Only the most BIRD card:

also combos with Guile for infinite birds

Wait, this isnt the updated list. The updated list has Dovescape. I remember putting it in after first draft. Just replace Simic Signet with it. I'm mainly looking for things that make Green worth it.

<White border Storm Crow

So I revised a bit with the cards I physically have at the moment, and here's my list so far.

Arahbo (Apply early game pressure with strong low drop Cats, late game survive with tokens and huge beatsticks)

Sacred Cat,

Grand Abolisher, Lost Leonin, Adorned Pouncer, Oreskos Explorer, Lynx, Qasali Pridemage, Fleecemane Lion,

Brimaz (King of Oreskos), Pulsemage Advocate, Skyhunter Skirmisher, Somberwald Sage, Mirri (Cat Warrior), Tireless Tracker, Prowling Serpopard, Pride Sovereign, Qasali Ambusher,

Jazal Goldmane, Seht's Tiger, Squallmonger, Forgotten Ancient, Brawn,

Regal Caracal, Pride of Lions, *Arahbo (Roar of the World)*,

Sun Titan, Felidar Sovereign, Jedit (Ojanen of Efrava), Nacatle War-Pride,

Raksha (Golden Cub), Phantom Nishoba

Burgeoning, Oblivion Ring, Banishing Light, Beastmaster Ascension, Annointed Procession, Gideon's Intervention, Parallel Lives, Into the Wilds

Sol Ring, Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots (and nobody is surprised), Selesnya Signet, Corrupted Grafstone, Sword of the Animist, Talisman of Unity, Loxodon Warhammer, Behemoth Sledge, Lifecrafter's Bestiary, Seer's Sundial

Nature's Claim, Sundering Growth, Wing Shards, Forsake the Worldly, Beast Within, Waiting in the Weeds, End Hostilities, Enlarge, Terminus, White Sun's Zenith, Uncage the Menagerie

Ajani (Caller of the Pride), Nissa (Worldwaker)

Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, Myriad Landscape, Rogue's Passage, Tectonic Edge, Ghost Quarter, Temple of the False God, Command Beacon, Bant Panarama,

Command Tower, Graypelt Refuge, Blossoming Sands, Selesnya Sanctuary, Grassland, Sunpetal Grove, Fortified Village, Scattered Groves, Canopy Vista, Brushland, Wooded Bastion,

Sejiri Steppe, Plains (/Snow Covered) (x7),

Mosswort Bridge, Forest (/Snow Covered) (x7)

Kemba + Quest for the Holy Relic, Leonin Shikari (Looking at 6 equipment soon, might be useful. Might), Hurricane (swapped for Squallmonger, which can get Lifelink and doesn't outright meta, but needs less mana), Spirit of the Hearth (Flying), Horn of Greed + Exploration + Ramunap Excavator (+ Crop Rotation) (Liking the idea of getting obnoxious draws off of using Evolving Wilds over and over again, but worried about usability of combo pieces on their own), Jareth (large, built in protection, but 6 mana), Protector of the Crown (protects me, but six mana), Mageta the Lion (repeatable board wipe, but cost too steep for me to run as anything except a commander in a shitpost deck)

Sword of Fire and Ice (protection from colors I don't have, draw and removal all in one), Swords to Plowshares, Path of Exile (removal)

>Gimmick Cards

Into the Wilds, Sword of Fire and Ice, Mosswort Bridge, Squallmonger, Path of Exile, Adorned Pouncer (Represent a respective book in the first arc of the Warriors series)

>inb4 Temple Ground + Fetch Lands

My arithmetic for evening to 100 might be off since I know I'm going to make changes to this.

That's just the one it lists. I've got the Portal one.

Some burds worth considering:

Aetherstorm Roc

Aven Windreader

Azorius Keyrune

Bronzebeak Moa

Coveted Peacock

Dauntless Aven

Fable of Wolf and Owl

Giant Albatross

Lieutenant Kirtar

Major Teroh

Migratory Route

Murder of Crows

Nimble Obstructionist

Phantom Flock

Rimefeather Owl

River Hoopoe

Sawtooth Loon

Shoreline Ranger

Skymark Roc

Soraya the Falconer (Birds…WITH BANDING)

Stormscape Familiar

Thieving Magpie

I'm trying similar with a build around the Locust God, though I haven't built the deck yet (missing Mindmoil, and a couple of other things)

I want to be able to draw at least 120 cards in a single turn, reliably. Mindmoil will help with that since it generates large draw numbers while not decking myself immediately.

Why 120 draws? To create 40 locusts to attack 3 different people on the same turn.

Correction, 40 locusts for each other player, using a 4 player match as a baseline.

I made a token deck with Ulasht a while ago. Was somewhat okay, but very slow and only really good if it went infinite.

This was like 5 years ago, and I think I grossly misread it as damage to a creature or player, but I had shit like infinite draw and pandemonium in there so whatever

Teferi's Puzzle Box

Geth's Grimoire with Jace's Archivist and Pemmin's Aura

I really wanted to try this in a shitty UB discard/mill deck, but holy fuck it works in any U/x deck. Try it. It's silly.

Which lands should I cut for a Mirrorpool?

I'm also thinking wheels (of Fortune and etc)+rituals (Mana Geyser and friends)+flashback (like Flames of the Past). Generate massive amounts of mana and card draw.

It will essentially be a Storm deck: chain draw and mana production as much as possible until everything is locusts.

Either Evolving Wilds or Command Beacon. You don't need to cast your commander often for it to be effective due to Radiance, and EW/TE are both rather slow, but you can just experiment with the manabase.

Artwork for the two missing C17 commanders has been put up by Wizards. The first is probably Edgar Markov and is probably going to be our first Mardu vampire commander, so players can make use of the mono-white vampires of Ixalan. The second image is less clear, but it could be a Dimir agent or some kind of Priestess of Phenax or something else. I am leaning towards UB rogues, but others say wizards or clerics.

Goddamn that Edgar art is fantastic. Reminds me of Vigo from Ghostbusters 2.

I hate to say it, but these decks are shaping up to be really cool.

That Edgar Markov artwork is amazing, but in my honest opinion I don't get it why they decided to support 2 of the most popular tribes (dragon and vampires) instead of less supported tribes like warrior, faerie, knight or whatever.

At least its not Zombies?

>>323888 (checked)

Yeah true, but it's just I really want to build a warrior tribal…

They're clearly out of inspiration too, only making 4 instead of 5 decks and half of them are already well-supported tribes.

Can you guess how I did it, anons?

Act of Treason + Soulblast?

One of those two is correct

File: f31498839d5b4c7⋯.png (137.85 KB, 223x311, 223:311, reyhan.png)

Same boat here, but I've wanted cats for longer and far more than warriors, so I ended up settling for partners with these two. Bruse really has no business whatsoever being an Ally, but making Reyhan into a 6/3 that forces someone to either lose a support creature (because nobody outside certain commanders you can see coming 100 yards away plays vanilla 1/1s or shit like that), kill Reyhan and deal with a 6/6 Double Strike Lifelink beatstick next turn, or be a little over a quarter of the way killed. Since a lot of my Warriors can't stay on the battlefield for very long, the deck has quite a few ways to freely give +1/+1 counters so my shit dying doesn't doom me from rebuilding. It could be better, but for my casual playgroup it's alright.

That's the main problem with warrior tribal at this moment.

There are just no decent 4+ CMC warriors and no decent warrior tribal commander either.

So…The Locust God with a few wheels and Impact Tremors can quite consistently kill a table. Won 2 out of 3 games I played with the deck. Still messing around with the initial build of it, though.

Saskia the Unyielding should have been a Warrior. They fucked that up hard. They made Alesha, Who Smiles at Death interestingly mechanically but a fucking tranny.

Sounds like you at least have a fun time with it.

Someone had a custom version of Saskia with an animu babe made in one of these threads, I remember. I wonder if he still plays that deck.

I'm thinking about making a new deck since all my other ones suck, but I'm a tad lacking in inspiration. I really wanna get some use out of Emrakul, the Promised End since I've had the damn thing since Eldritch prerelease, but is there anything fun I can do with it as a Commander? So far it looks like the deck would just be Eldrazi spam, and that doesn't seem terribly interesting.

Bounce it to your hand, recast it over and over again.

Ugin's Nexus prevents players from taking extra turns which means they don't get an extra turn from Emrakul after you Mind-Slavered them

Just run it in a Mono-colorless artifact shell that ramps extremely hard, using untappers like Clock of Omens to get repeated uses out of Thran Dynamo and friends.

Btw, I play a similar list to what I described (used to be Kozilek 2.0 for the card draw but Emrakul is more fun). The landbase is rather cheap since they printed wastes, and there's a wide variety of artifacts to support different plans.

Wasn't even aware that there was bounce cards like these in colourless. Thanks for the suggestion.

Cloudstone Curio is actually one of the worst since most of your deck will be artifacts. You only need a few 3 or 4 or so depending on how hard you dig and what else you do with EtB, and the repeatable ones (Erratic Portal, Blood Clock) are the best.

>Cloudstone Curio

It was just one of the first I saw. I figure there's probably better cards to use.

"return" "hand" "colorless" "not colors" search. You'll find some extra stuff in there that doesn't fit, but you'll also find the tools you need.

WBR Vampires

UBR Wizards

Alright anons, I've updated my Bird list, I've also dropped Green from it, as the only cards I'd want to run that were green were Aerie Mystics, River Hoopoe, Whippoorwhill, and Sidar Kondo.

What about Flurry of Wings?

It's green my dude

Had a few one on one games with the deck. So far here's what I'm gathering…

>Adorned Pouncer and Brimaz are, hands down, currently the best creatures in the deck

>Brawn isn't good

>There aren't enough token generators to abuse the token doubling effects

>Steppe Lynx was added in, and is probably one of the most aggressive creatures the deck could run for one drop

>as the only cards I'd want to run

I meant, why wouldn't you want to run it?

Oh. Yeah Flurry was one of the cards I cut.

I cut Flurry, Birds of Paradise, Sidar, Aerie Mystics, Whippoorwill, and Gaea's Cradle. Green just doesnt seem like a good fit for what Birds wants to do.

I'd highly suggest an equipment build for Cats. I'm brewing that as well as that Bird list at the moment, and the amount of stupid shit you can do is staggering. I'd recommend equips like Argentum Armor, Blade of Selves (Toss on Nacatl War-Pride for fun, no it doesnt go infinite), Mirrodin swords, Konda's Banner, and Shield of the Avatar.

File: f7afcd237855adc⋯.png (78.53 KB, 184x174, 92:87, aristo1.PNG)

>Toss on Nacatl War-Pride for fun

Don't both effects go off of whenever Nacatl is declared an attacker?

>Konda's Banner

If it weren't for my table regularly getting someone playing Elves or Soldiers, I happily would

So Nacatl and Blade activate, essentially making X copies where X is number of creatures opponent controls plus Y where Y is the number of Opponents in the game. Then nothing else happens.

Specifically, when you declare it as an attacker, you get X tokens, tapped and attacking (anyone) where X is the number of creatures the defending player has. So you have your main cat going at someone, and X cats to distribute to other players/planeswalkers as needed.

If it's equipped, then you also get a bonus one cat per other opponent, which is committed as an attacker against them.

So say it's a 4-player game, and you're attacking a player with six creatures, and you attack A:

>Enemy A: Equipped Nacatl is attacking

>Enemy B: Bonus token is attacking

>Enemy C: Bonus token is attacking

>You have six discretionary tokens that must attack someone

Retiring Selvala and Krenko, when I sit down to play them, I'm constantly targetted first despite there being more pressing threats at the table. Krenko I understand gets out of hand quick, but Selvala is manageable.

Building Bird tribal with Ishai, and starting to amass Cat tribal for when Arahbo comes out. Also starting to grab stuff for Zedruu.

Zedruu is in great colors for Enduring Ideal shenanigans, just saying. Red has some decent win-con enchantments green lacks, like Form of the Dragon + extra turns and upkeeps, or Assemble the Legion and swarm over others, or Dragon Roost and spawn 5/5 dragons.

Anon, I know what Myriad does. The thing is though that the deck in its current iteration only has about 7 creatures that extraordinarily care about entering the battlefield or would set me up to win the game if I had two copies of. The investment for mana doesn't give enough power to justify tossing it in at the moment.

>Selvala is manageable

Since Parley is a mana ability, a certain type of Selvala deck exists that can risk decking players out with them being unable to, by the rules themselves, respond.

So how does FULL RETARD fare in multiplayer? The idea looked fun.

It's not that type of Selvala deck. The closest it gets is Selvala/Umbral Mantle. I'm just there to draw everyone cards until I can Genesis Wave for like 20.

I needed to nerf it a little for the playgroup I play it in, but considering that the plan begins and ends with "wheel my hand, put something that cares about wheeling onto the board, then wheel until the world ends," it's hit or miss. Considering though that it's easy to cycle through every card in the deck, and that when it does win it's usually through some hilariously dedicated hatefuck towards one player after the other, Sphinx's Tutelage, or an improvised combo (i.e. Shrieking Drake five times into Mind's Desire), it's pretty fun.

Sounds like The Locust God. I just put in Arjun in it for the extra Mindmoils.

Playing it feels like this. Dying to cats seems likely too in the near future.

>The Locust God

I do have Niv Mizzet in the deck for comparability's sake (haven't cared to both justify $10 for a card for a designated cardboard shitpost or think of which 6 drop I want to cut). In terms of playstyle, there are two key differences in that with Arjun, your bounce spells double as card advantage against removal, and since the actual draw engine is the commander and the payoff is in the deck, you can put in random cards with synergy effects and still pull a win out of your ass from an interaction you never saw coming. Locust God seems like it would be more consistently deadly, but for unwinding and having a bullshit game I'm not looking to replace the deck anytime soon.

Probably not because there are way better WBG generals. Ghave does everything this guy does but better.

What if I dropped the token generation and made him a little more robust? As written his ability lets you immediately trigger a Dredge card from your hand.

New way for my elfball to play my entire library in a turn

edh scrub, is Licia really good or is my card evaluation retarded?

She's not horrible, but you have to build more for lifegain if you ever want to cast her for a low mana cost. She doesn't really have a huge impact on the board and she doesn't have any tribal synergy outside of lifegain mattering. At least Edgar affects your vampires and Mathas is political. Licia is probably the weakest of the bunch because she doesn't really do much.

Yeah, I think I was over evaluating her cost reduction ability to slip under commander tax.

Edgar doesn't seem that great unless I'm under evaluating the token ability. Marthas seems like an interesting take on group hug.

Like I said they're all pretty disappointing, but Edgar at least has some tribal synergy. It does piss me off that the cat legends are so great, and that the dragons minus Kami are at least okay

Cursed Man has that horribly douchy hipster hair. I like the new design of the curses so you benefit even if an opponent attacks a cursed player, but that art is pissing me off just looking at that faggot.

Mathas, Fiend Seeker is perfect flavor-wise for Queen Marchesa. Put out hits on creatures you don't like and someone will want to do it for the free card.

While Teferi's Protection is on the stack, skip your next turn with Lethal Vapors. While that ability is on the stack, do it again.

If you skip your turn, you can't draw cards. You can't deck yourself, while they can while trying to kill you.

This was an actual deck idea ages ago. You always skip your turn so you never need to pay for Stasis and your opponent could never get ahead on lands/artifacts/creatures since they would never untap and enter tapped.

Lethal Vapors and Teferi's Protection is just a way to do it for EDH in an efficient manner. It doesn't matter if they can untap if they can't touch you.

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play.

Most of the preconstructed decks are a fine place to start. The new '17 decks will probably be fine assuming you want to play Cats, Dragons, Vampires, or Wizards.

please forgive the prof for being a softball pseudo intellectual camwhore faggot.

We don't know the full decklists, but, if any of the new legendary creatures are appealing to you, why not pick one up?

Cats have a fine equipment subtheme that can be used for other decks (as far as we can see) and grixis wizards looks powerful in general (as wizards and grixis colors usually are). Dragons are Timmy personified, and Vampires, it depends on the rest of the deck but they are in the colors for a lot of powerful removal that can be added to the deck.

Looks like the subthemes for the other decks are Dragon ramp, Wizard graveyard and Vampire lifegain.

I love Mairsil, the Pretender. He looks like a build-your-own toolbox in the command zone.

>If you skip your turn, you can't draw cards.

Why would I want to skip my turn if I have protection on a stick on legs?

Your stick on legs doesn't have haste without boots or similar. Also, you'd need to float mana to cast something before using it otherwise all your lands are phased out and useless until the next untap. They can kill it in response to you using it so you only get one use of it. Stick on Legs is extremely vulnerable.

If you skip the next 500 turns with Lethal Vapors, you have protection from everything, none of your permanents can be touched, your life total can't change while your opponents have to go through 500 turns before your next one. At minimum, that's 500 cards they need to draw due to their draw step so it's extremely likely they'll die before you take your next turn.

It's similar to the the Chronatog/Kismet/Stasis lock, but instead of denying them resources while they draw until decking, you deny them any chance of killing you until they inevitably draw themselves to death.

If they can work past that lock and have the patience for the next 500 turns instead of just scooping or accepting second place, you at least had time to grab some food or a smoke break. You can also sit there and mock them until they flip the table, your choice.

Essentially, it's like time distortion at speeds approaching speed of light. In the time it takes you to take another turn, the rest of the table has gone through endless aeons of turns.

Then your ship crashes and it turns out IT WAS EARTH ALL ALONG

But doesn't Lethal Vapors destroy itself as part of the cost to skip your next turn? I'm not seeing how I can skip any more than just one turn.

Nope. Everything to the left of the colon is the cost, everything to the right is the effect.

So "{0}" is the cost, and "Destroy Lethal Vapors. You skip your next turn. Any player may activate this ability." is the ability.

Of course, if your opponents realizes what you're doing, they can just activate the ability as many times you do to counteract your plan.

Grand Abolisher. Fuck opponents and their responses. Otherwise you were right.

File: e511cfb0cb6f2a1⋯.png (501.37 KB, 610x442, 305:221, make it kill me.PNG)

>Your stick on legs doesn't have haste without boots or similar.

In most decks that I'm running the stick on legs, I'm either caring about creature activated abilities, so boots/elixir/etc are a given, or care about casting repeated instant spells or casting triggers, which lets the components work independently anyway.

>They can kill it in response to you using it

<Literally "dies to removal"

As mentioned in >>327167 , your opponents can kill it in response to activating the vapors with literally nothing, and in order to prevent this from happening you need to cast it after the Abolisher and with the Protection following immediately afterwards (otherwise the Abolisher is going to be removed). That's three cards and seven mana of of two colors you need.

>If you skip the next 500 turns

Therein lies my main problem with the combo, instead of having agency of controlling your protection and preparing part of a field between phased turns, you're gambling that none of your opponents have any sort of anti-mill tech. Anyone running one of the old Eldrazi titans beats you in matchup, anyone who runs Elixir or Immortality beats you in a matchup, Atraxa beats you if you've been hit with Infect damage once, any opposing "You win the game" effects now have free reign, etc.. and unlike arguing against certain hosing cards against archetypes the combo sets yourself up in a position where you literally cannot defend yourself against your opponent setting up a way to work around it.

Essentially, it's like playing a card that gives you a pentillion life with a shrouded indestructible Island Sanctuary out; I don't play red, and I'm going to break it.

Stick it on a stick on legs and be done with it.

so I'm making a commander deck that's heavily lore based around the Weatherlight Saga. specifically I'm making a deck centered around the Weatherlight Crew and the pieces of the Legacy weapon as well as the legacy weapon itself. the only problem is that to do so I need a 5 color commander since the crew members are all different colors. I was thinking that Ramos, Dragon Engine would be a good fit both lore and strategy wise but since I'm kind of new to commander I don't know if he would count as a 5 color commander or not.

Since the five mana symbols appear in its rule text in an area that isn't reminder text, it's color identity encompasses all five colors, same as how everyone's favorite Fate Reforged tranny counts as Mardu despite only costing Red to play.

For knight tribal what commander should I use? I know I want at least white and black, but I don't know if I should add a third color.

There are precisely 0 legendary knights and 3 nonlegendary knights that are both black and white.

Also, only one legendary knight, Haakon, can be considered tribal, which is a shame because the other three knights that empower your knights are white.

Side note: can Haakon be played from the commander zone, or do you have to find some godforsaken way of putting him straight from the commander zone into the graveyard?

>Side note: can Haakon be played from the commander zone

The card says you can't play it from anywhere except the graveyard, so you can't play it from anywhere except the graveyard.

My advice would to be to run Ravos and Tymna as partnered commanders if you want to do Orzhov knights. They aren't exactly thematic to knights, but you could spin it as they are the (un)holy clerics at the head of the knight's order. If theme matters to you much.

Aside from theme, Ravos is handy as a weenie pump and most knights I can think of aren't too hefty, and there are lots of ways to produce knight tokens which are 2/2, who all would appreciate the +1/+1. Plus you get recursion on all of the knight cards you want. I'm guessing you're doing a relatively simple creature aggro kind of deck since I don't know if knights have any kind of fucky interaction that I'm usually dealing with playing EDH, so Tymna works well as a card draw engine if you're going to constantly be pissing off everyone at the table by swinging all the time, though you'd probably want some kind of life gain subtheme to not bleed yourself out.

Another anon, now I want to play a deck like this too after looking into it. There are a few knight tribal interactions besides Haakon, and there are some interesting knight cards, and the flanking mechanic may be worth building around.

Copy & Paste Baral or Jace, VP. Jam a few more cards with mana costs 3UU for surprise Force of Will and 3U for surprise Polymorph.

Alright Anons, I've played this deck quite a bit, and it's severely lacking in removal for Enchantments and Artifacts, what do I cut for Aura Shards and Qasali Slingers?

I'd say Stalking Leonin and White Sun's Zenith.

Krosan Grip is a very good removal card for artifacts and enchantments.

It's an instant for 2G, works against artifacts and enchantments, and cannot be countered.

It's the card that puts Sensei's Diving Top in the graveyard.

Every EDH deck that has green in it should run one in my opinion.

Honorable mentions include Naturalize (1G, instant, destroy target artifact or enchantment) and Fade into Antiquity (2G, sorcery, exile target artifact or enchantment) but these won't get rid of a SDT and can be countered.

Top isnt that big a deal at our table, we have maybe one person who actively runs one. I do need Krosan in there though.

>Honorable mentions include

You forgot to mention…

Reclamation Sage (Sorcery speed, but never a dead draw because it's a guy)

Fate Forgotten (2W, Instant, Exiles Artifact or Enchantment)

Oblivion Ring (2W, Enchantment, Removes wider range than Artifact or Enchantment; may be substituted with Banishing Light, which has a slightly narrower usage range)

Forsake the Worldly (practically Fate Forgotten reprint, but with Cycling)

Leonin Relic-Warder (Creature, supports Cat tribal)

Revoke Existance (1W, Sorcery, Exile)

Sylvan Reclamation (5GW, late game removal, Instant, packaged with Basic Landcycling so at worst filters a card from your deck)

Beast Within (2G, Instant, Destroy a permanent)

Nature's Claim (*G*, Instant)

Natural State (Narrower than Nature's Claim, but without the small drawback otherwise)

Disregard my entire post because of the Voat Reddit formatting style.

I can't decide on which of the C17 decks to pick up. All of the commanders seem equally neutered to not have really great interaction with other cards. The closest ones to what I want would be Ramos and Mairsil, but the "once each turn" instantly makes me flaccid.

No it's fine. I'm aware of most of those cards due to me also running Selvala, the hard part was just figuring out what to cut to put them in. I might dial it back on equips as well, leave it to just be Batterskull, Swords, Jitte, and maybe Argentum/Stoneforge.

As the anon brewing cats at the start of the thread… I would cut Oreskos Sun Guide, Ajani's Pridemate (maybe), Leonin Snarecaster, and Trained Caracal at least. While Caracal is comparable to a certain one drop which should be banned early game, late game you're going to want to be using that bonus on other cats, leaving that one card being a 1/1 netting 1 total life. Sun Guide is sort of similar, except realistically you're not going to get as much life out of it compared to the Caracal. Pridemate is an excellent card, but see how consistently you can keep gaining instances of life enough to justify tossing it in there. Snarecaster isn't really that much value anyway, so just swap it with a Steppe Lynx or something.

File: 7cf8d609e7f300c⋯.png (1.21 MB, 1492x823, 1492:823, cat tribal.png)

this is the list i've been playing for cat tribal. copy what you want, shit on me playing a meme tribe if you want.

Leonin relic-warder

watchers of the dead

beastmaster ascension

prowling surpopard

chameleon colossus

leonin armorguard

skyshroud claim

game-trail changeling

miraris wake

regal caracal

felidar sovereign

nacatl war-pride

DEN with Ramos and I'm sure you can go off somehow, I just haven't thought of it.

That said I'm picking up cats and then wizards for the reprint value. I like the cats list the most out of the box and with it being 2-color the mana base is easy and cheap enough to upgrade quite a bit, and white and most green staples aren't all that expensive.

Yeah I don't know many SDT users either but still it's good against counters in general.

I did not mention most of them because if you go x tribal you only get x type creatures in or you're a pleb niqqa.

File: 1321fdd63ac207b⋯.png (62 KB, 283x175, 283:175, OP.PNG)

After reading over Ramos, it seems broken as all hell with Rakdos, Lord of Riots and Atraxa existing. The thing is, though, that besides Master Biomancer + Deadeye Navigator I can't think of too many ways to make it go infinite. Anyone here have any ideas, or am I stuck with just trying to make a generic U/G/x deck?

What 2 drop Sword is that? Sword of the Animist or Sword of the Meek? I'm assuming Animist. I like a lot of the stuff in the list, but there's a few cards that I would honestly not run. Game-Trail Changeling is really bad for a 5 drop, as well as Spirit of the Hearth. I would honestly either run more equipment searchers like Open the Armory or Steelshaper's Gift, as well as a few more equipment, such as Sword of Fire and Ice, Sword of Feast and Famine, Umezawa's Jitte, and definitely find space for Hammer of Nazahn. I definitely love some of the ideas here like Chameleon Colossus and the two Ajanis.

Seeing Gwafa in your OP I had to post this.

So Gwafa has earned himself the nickname of "Cheech" in my EDH circle. A couple weeks ago one of our guys was playing him and running a Trading Post. At the endstep before him, he would put a bribery counter on something and make a goat token. Simple enough.

Well somehow in the course of fucking around and cracking jokes, a comment was made to the effect of "yeah your creature can't attack or block. Gwafa bribed him with dat pussy." Someone else laughs and asks "what fucking pussy? Gwafa's a dude!" and the Gwafa player laughs and answers back "I dunno. Goat pussy? Yeah! Yeah you get that goat pussy!"

And then someone else sounds off in a bad Cheech impersonation from the From Duck Til Dawn movie. "EEEEEEY! We got goat pussy at Gwafa's house of pusssyyyyyy!" And from there it went around the table and kept getting more complex in the quoting.

>"EYYYY MANG! Its Gwafa Hazid's house of pusssyyyy! We got goat pussy, merfolk pussy, dragon pussy, yeah we got artifact pussy, we even got zombieee pusssyyyy! If you can find a cheaper piece of pussy anywhere, TAP iiiiitttttt!"

After a six player table spent the next ten minutes laughing ourselves to fucking death, Gwafa shall be forever known as Cheech.

Pack Rat seems like a non-bo

Also what's the primary wincon?

Discard a card, make a copy of Mairsil that can do everything normal Mairsil can. It's pretty good when they get rid of Quicksilver.

Primary wincon is either Tree of Perdition/Hateflayer or Phyrexian Devourer/Sage of Hours.

>Tree of Perdition/Hateflayer

That is hilarious.

>Phyrexian Devourer/Sage of Hours

You're gonna need some good library manipulation for that.

I'm honestly considering cutting Phyrexian Devourer for Walking Ballista so you have something to pump all that excess mana into. All I need is a good way to blink Mairsil for colorless.

Wait, scratch that, I'm retarded. If you blink him he loses the counters. The combo still works, it just requires Quicksilver.

>Make a copy of Mairsil

Mairsil is legendary.

Blow up the real one, keep copy.

Blow up the original, keep the copy.

Guys, did I fix Ulrich?

It's still not great but certainly far more playable. If there were some better werewolves I'd play it.

>mfw realizing FA's ability should have been "{…} deals damage equal to its power to target creature you don't control."

>mfw someone killing your entire board kill itself because the wolf pack turning on itself without any prey to hunt is both hilarious and flavorful, so not going to "fix" it.

The main problem with designing a Werewolf creature is that you need three lines of text dedicated on each side to define the werewolf effect unless the point is to keep it transformed, so all of the abilities need to be concise.

I wanted to add somewhere along there some "creatures you control gain trample" triggered ability somewhere, but didn't end up finding any room for it. Fight from the actual Ulrich seemed a step in the right direction for punishing an opponent who didn't play spells, but left Ulrich vulnerable to be killed and didn't really seem interactive enough, so I went with what could end up being a wipe for one opponent's board while punishing players who played spells to revert to wolves in a way that didn't just copy/paste a certain cyclops (reverting back gives free damage on their creatures).

The Human side was more of an afterthought to make these interactions more potent while also making the card somewhat of a threat even if it never transformed, but without Trample I don't think it's really that great either. Trample on a ragged old man, though, just doesn't seem right, and making him a Shaman that gave it seems too wordy for the type bar. Looking back now, it should just be "(…) on target creature you control" to make it more versatile.

He needs a synthesis of abilities from Geier Reach Bandit and Immerwolf to not suck ass.

>Ulrich, Not a Faggot

Wolf and Werewolf spells you cast cost (1) less to cast

Whenever another human enters the battlefield under your control, if it is a werewolf you may transform it.

1RG: Transform Ulrich

>Ulrich, Werewolf Commander

Werewolf creatures you control can't transform back.

Simple and fixes both major problems with the werewolf tribe.

>>Ulrich, Werewolf Commander

>Werewolf creatures you control can't transform back.

Somehow I don't think that 3RRGG for 6/5 with Trample is that impressive, and if they want to fuck up your board for good all they need to do is kill Ulrich and then just drop a cantrip; Standalone the commander doesn't leave much for the deck to do until turn 5, which, besides the body for the cost, is one of the few things that Wizards got right for the actual Ulrich by giving it ability to benefit the existing creatures on the board. Geier Reach Bandit and Immerwolf are just simply faster creatures that you can play at most points in the game, with Immerwolf only not being beneficial on a case-by-turn basis.

Just making it an Immerwolf-Bandit hybrid alone doesn't complement the playstyle of requiring the opponent to keep being pressured to haphazardly cast shit, and doesn't offer any scale in power for larger games.

I think making the ability on your take for the flip side should be something like…

>Werewolves you control have Trample and Menace

>Non-Human Werewolves you control cannot transform

>>Werewolves you control have Trample and Menace

>>Non-Human Werewolves you control cannot transform

>1RG: Transform target Human Werewolf

File: ea3f5312f1d049e⋯.jpg (33.92 KB, 666x457, 666:457, Squall.jpg)

After-afterthought: Probably what would set it over the top as good is if for the Human side you dropped "another" from its ETB ability, and drop one point of power from the flip side, that way it can be played either as a helper for the wolves early game or an Immerwolf late game without the extra mana cost or two of your turns as setup.

I met a traveller from an antique land,

Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone

Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,

Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,

And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,

The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;

And on the pedestal, these words appear:

My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;

Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay

Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare

The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

The deck I built before the thread disappeared into the catalog

This seems to be the more active Magic thread so I'll just post here

I did it! I finally had a chance to go to my LGS (like less than once per 3 months) and trade up some cards to make a Modern deck. He did 70%-75% trade-in value which I suppose was pretty reasonable, stuff like Bloom Tender, a few fetches, that sort of thing. I got a set of Verdant Catacombs and some other key cards I needed. Overall, we probably swapped about $500 worth of shit (that I was never gonna use). He didn't even grab my Crucible of Worlds or Aether Vial, but 'm down Damnation and player rewards Wrath

Anyways, I forgot a few cards here and there so I ended up making a hybrid between two smallpox loam decklists from Raphael Levy 2014/2015. From goldfishing, this deck is a fucking blast to play.

I forgot to check on +2 Zombie Infestation. Squee is amazing. Smallpox feels inappropriate sometimes. I might try to get a second Raven's Crime so I can rape hands easier. I had to trade in my Arid Mesa, and I don't have a white land or search. It's a one-of to hardcast Lingering Spirits if I REALLY need to (and in that case, I can always Ghost Quarter a land for ETB tricks with ghasts or whatever and fetch a plains)

File: aebea564779ef94⋯.png (128.6 KB, 223x311, 223:311, Image.png)

So someone at my LGS just brought out this guy last night and tabled myself and another, anyone know of some great ways to put this commander in his place?

PS. I just ordered a Shatterstorm for my Krenko deck.

>7 mana artifact creature that requires the use of an activated ability

Stop sucking maybe.

Any artifact removal, Pithing Needle, Homeward Path, Gruul Charm, anything that gives your creatures shroud or hexproof,…

Come on nigga.

How do you win though? In your infinite stasis your opponent is probably going to have an alternate win condition or at least something to prevent themselves from drawing to zero forcing a stalemate.

>7 generic mana is hard

>It isn't aiming for a combo to set up on the side or generate assloads of mana anyway

If it's that fucking easy to achieve critical mass than why aren't you doing it yourself? Why do you care about not losing when you could just focus on winning?

But to make things easy for you,

>white: Stony Silence, Suppression Field

>blue: Energy Flux, Steel Sabotage

>black: Murder etc.

>red: By Force, Shattering Spree, Hellkite Tyrant etc. if you really need help picking out good red anti-artifact cards then you are not applying yourself

>green: same as red. Creeping Corrosion, Bane of Progress

>colorless: Null Rod, Kill Switch

Tl;dr Stop sucking.

>I'm the same anon

Half of your answers require it to hit the board in order to shut it down, and since the Memnarch player is going for winning by a combo, when theorizing against it, the commander going off for a win as soon as it hits the board needs to be accounted for, and even without considering that it isn't as if the opponent is going to sit with a thumb up his ass and not have a few counterspells in hand ready.

>If it's that fucking easy to achieve critical mass than why aren't you doing it yourself?

<It's just as easy to get seven colored mana as seven colorless

>Sword of Dungeons and Dragons

10 of the 12 cards are general-purpose answers to artifacts, not just Memnarch. Even then, perfect answers don't mean dick without any sort of pressure from your own deck. If you're durdling so hard that fucking Stony Silence and Null Rod don't do anything against an artifact combo deck then you need to go back to the drawing board.

>7 colorless mana

>not 7 colorless mana plus 4UUU and passing priority a minimum of 2 times (one with a spell on the stack that must resolve, the rest while protecting a pemanant with 2 supertypes) against 3 other players

Step up and learn to answer threats. It's fuckers like you the make my Storm list so boring to play, at least give me some obstacles.

The sick thing is that, without the silver border most of these could be actual cards. There really isn't much fuckery going on here

Well yes, but it would feel more like a "joke set." What we have feels almost like an experimental black-border set a la Future Sight.

Crow Storm, for instance, is a perfectly printable card. OP yes, but perfectly fits within the context of the game's existing rules.

The Unstable spoilers should get their own thread. This one is pretty old and the new set has nothing to do with EDH.

I bet you're the same type of faggot that says Primeval Titan should be unbanned because it dies to Doom Blade, or Zur the Enchanter is balanced in 1-on-1 commander because it can always just be Pacified. Why doesn't every deck just automatically have a Scour from Existence in their hand 24/7 and make every game even?

>fucking Stony Silence and Null Rod don't do anything against an artifact combo deck then you need to go back to the drawing board.

<Opposing players never run answers to what threatens their deck, and blue never runs countermagic

>passing priority a minimum of 2 times (one with a spell on the stack that must resolve

<Opponent doesn't activate ability again in response to kill spell

>It's fuckers like you the make my Storm list so boring to play, at least give me some obstacles

I am legitimately upset that Do-It-Yourself Seraph is not a black-border card.

>playing Scour From Existence of all cards

>"my spells keep getting answered"

Git fucking gud.

How would you word this homebrew keyword better?

>Chimera (You may play this card as though it were enchant creature instead of a creature. Add this creature's power and toughness to enchanted creature. Enchanted creature gains all of this creature's abilities except Chimera. It is still a creature for card effects. A creature played this way can not attack, block or use activated abilities.)

Intent was

>enchantment removal won't hit it, but creature removal will

>lightning bolt hits the chimera part separately, killing it but not host if it exceeds toughness

>dies if host dies

>can't really do anything by itself, but still counts as a creature you control for something that effects or gains power based on all creatures you control

>can play as a creature by itself

Litterally Bestow, just remove the "becomes creature if unattached" clause. God I hated Theros.

Thoughts? I was thinking about replacing some cards for a Pentarch Ward, Avacyn, Angel of Hope, and (foil) Austere Command

So white tokens with some voltron shenanigans? I like it

If you want to add more equips to the deck you should see if you could fit Puresteel Paladin and Sigarda's Aid

The only equipment I want to add in are the swords and that just makes 13 equipment for the deck. I don't really see the point of adding "equipment matters" too much right now when only a few cards benefit from it.

If you insist on it being a creature then it's an odd mashup of this and Soulbond

>Chimera (You may pair this creature with another unpaired creature without Chimera when either enters the battlefield. They remain paired for as long as both of them remain on the battlefield. As long as this creature is paired with another creature it cannot attack or block. If they become unpaired, sacrifice this creature.)

>[other ability]

>Creatures paired with [cardname] get +x/+y and have [other ability]

It's a fucking novel.

What color(s) would Ramza Beoulve be? White? White/something ?

That, combo, and some other options

Actually I already have a list, it is fun but the winrate isn't so good:

I made a janky U turbofog deck with infinite combo draw/kill without fogs for Modern. It's a casual deck, but:

>Pemmin's Aura, Aphetto Alchemist, Walking Atlas, Sword of the Paruns, Overflowing Chalice, Otherworld Atlas, Jace's Archivist, Manalith

Jace's Archivist with Pemmin's Aura becomes a way to machinegun through someone's deck at end of turn. Combine it with Geth's Grimoire or Otherworld Atlas and you can do some crazy shit.

Normally what I do in the deck is drop a chalice as fast as I can, and try to get an alchemist with an aura. He pairs very well with other cards, such as double dipping land drops off mass card draw and atlases. For example, draw 10 cards (not unusual for my deck when it gets going), tap him, play an island, tap the island to untap him, tap him, play an island, tap the island to untap him, etc.

The goal is to get Sword of the Paruns, Manalith (for U), and Overflowing Chalice at 4, so you can get infinite mana. From there, you draw deep, then finish them off with a Brain Geyser or something

I used to run it there, and I still have a copy for swapping out, but my playgroup started seeting too many Darksteel Forges and Theros gods, so I like the idea of swapping it out if only I can fit in a Leonin Relic-Warder. Anything look like it could be cut for that?

Why exactly does that deck need to be Izzet if your win combo is a colorless and two blue? You could probably either make it U/G and do something like Momir Vig with Intruder Alarm and Dryad Arbor, or you could splice more combos into it.

For a lot of your creatures, it seems like you want to go aggro with them since the landfall gives you a boost in power, but at the same time you have a combo piece in there every couple of cards. Are you not consistently getting something kicked off with the deck?

Possibly Raksha? He seems a bit gimmicky, not sure how often you get to cast him and have him stick around.

Last Friday I got her out late game and manage to wreck shit against two people who were targeting me. Honestly I don't see how giving Brimaz and his babies at least 5 power and some First Strike damage is a gimmick since by turn 6-8 I can usually transfer the Jitte and still get the same basic effect from it.

Thinking over I'm considering cutting Twilight Drover to toss it into a Vona token deck, since every time I've gotten it out it's just another beatstick that needs 2+ turns before its investment is worth anything.

Goddamn I hate this card so fucking much. Without fail, every time someone in my playgroup uses it, all of the fucking autists just sit then and think "need mah land ramp," like they're actually ramping forward, meanwhile not seeing that they're giving the fucking jewcunt playing it 4 non-basic lands just because they can't put together that letting him waste 4 mana on a land fetch is for what he's doing going to be a waste of a ramp, and the worst part is that if anyone tries to counter it, the table gets butthurt like they couldn't go fetch their pissy little basic Plains or whatever and the poor Blue player gets a firsthand lesson in idiocracy.

I am hellbent enough to get my group weened off of just giving people free lands that I'm reworking a fucking WIP deck to force Dark Depths + Thespian's Stage just to show them that even one person going for the offer is fucking retarded, but knowing them they'll just see it as "Anon's making one of his big end-game plays" and shove more cardstock up my ass than Maro in a pride parade, with the winner being the one that just so happens to give me an anal hemorrhage.

Does anyone else need to do shit like this?

you know nothing, we have a player that regularly gets chosen for every single Fact or Fiction cast because he just gives them all five cards every single fucking time.

Oh, no, we have that guy too. I just don't think listing all of the shit he does is relevant to the thread. Since it's relevant though.. this motherfucker will sit there and..

>Try to flash in a Charmander whenever he's being attacked for heavy damage, "use Smokescreen," then sit and argue about not taking damage for literally five minutes.

Seriously. Five minutes. Open up embedded and sit through all of it. That's how long this asshole will spend either arguing about not taking damage either because of a picture of some JoJo character or a fucking Pokemon card

>Try to "take back" spells/counterspells after players retaliate on the stack

Amazingly it only takes five seconds for him to comprehend that you can't do this

>Badly crop members of our playgroup's faces onto gay porn, then proceed to show it off to the rest of us

(What doesn't help is that we have one member bring his younger brothers to play as well, which normally isn't too bad. One of them, though, is 10).

>Literally always plays a turn 1 Sol Ring unless he's playing somebody else's deck

>Openly try to help the group favorite win

>"I may or may not have Sage of Hours in my hand."/"You're all dead when it's my next turn."

>Proceeds to get targeted

>"Why do you always gang up on me?"

We also have one in-house format where we put in random decks into the middle of the table, then randomly assign them to players. This motherfucker will sit and whine whenever he doesn't get a specific deck that somebody put in, or try to pre-emptively claim it.

Just finished making an Abzan Fungus/Saproling tribal with Ghave as the commander. Haven't had a chance to test it out, though, 'cause the people I used to play with moved upstate and I haven't had the time to find a new group.

Apparently Derevi got banned as fuck when I wasn't looking and my bird tribal has collected pounds of dust for it.

Any good way to retool it as well as keep it mostly bird tribal and maybe be half as decent as some of the actually good tribes?

What are you doing?

Even though eh has been downplayed as a partner commander as a 3/3 for 2RW with those abilities he's actually pretty good.

Bruce Tarl is a great Partner, not (((Greatest Ally))). Not only is he not a Profiteer, he's not even in U/W, the colors of the israeli flag.

For anti-(((Greatest Ally))) general, I would make Mathas, Fiend Seeker. He's in RWB and he has an Inquisitor vibe to him that you can amplify with the Spanish Vampires from the new block and/or cards from Innistrad like Avacyn, the Purifier.

You can even run Lethal Vapors and Death Cloud.

I always liked Brion Stoutarm, too.

Used to run this bad boy in Patron of the Moon. It was fun (for me) mono-U stax with things like Mana Breach, Overburden, Evacuation, and Sunder, slowing down other decks by constantly returning lands to hand and winning off of mana loops while others couldn't interrupt it, beatdown with a flying, 5/4, 7 cmc general, or the table scooping after a key play like a good Sunder.

I've been tempted to get a Moonman alter of Patron for maximum shitposting

Description: 10/10

I am not fond of Part the Waterveil and Temporal Trespass since both exile themselves so you can't loop them out of the graveyard, but TT is better since it is cheaper to cast. No Bosejiu seems weird since it wrecks other control decks. Scourge of Fleets is too damn expensive.

Archaeomancer and/or Mnemonic Wall + Evacuation for more protection against creatures and Evacuation is instant.

Preordain > Serum Visions, but it is worth running 3 or 4 1 cmc cantrips that smooth your deck like Ponder too. Impulse is sweet as well.

Stifle is amazing, try and find a slot for it. It and Trickbind stop so much bullshit you won't believe it, for cheaper than Disallow (cmc-wise) too.

Muddle the Mixture can tutor up your Bracers, along with:

Dramatic Reversal

Reality Shift

Isochron Scepter

Lightning Greaves

Sapphire Medallion

Aphetto Alchemist

Jace, Vryn's Prodigy

Thing in the Ice

Curse of the Swine

Merchant Scroll

Search for Azcanta

Also, MtM can only be countered by Stifle-like effects.

Other Appropriate Wincons:

Mind over Matter+Temple Bell since you already have Guile in the deck (which shuffles back into the deck if it ever gets discarded into the GY, perfect for MoM) for an infinite combo that can only be stopped once it gets going by K.Grip.

Maybe a few extra mana rocks to ensure you have some to go infinite with Aphetto Alchemist and Bracers and Dramatic Reversal. You want to be able to tap for 3+ with nonlands with DR.

Overall: I like it. Mono-U control is very fun. Baral did nothing wrong.

Thanks. I have a few ideas for what to cut.

I used to run Impulse in the slot where Telling Time is now, actually, but figured that if I looked at four cards and only wanted one of them or (if I wasn't fishing for an answer) an "obvious" choice, that meant the deck wasn't proactive enough.

Should I run that or Nimble Obstructionist?

>go infinite with Aphetto Alchemist and Bracers and Dramatic Reversal

I'm confused how this works, since I'm not running Echo Mage. Did you mean for the Scepter?

>Can't even use tappedout

>Ravos is Morty

Can't say I expected anything good, but I'm still disappointed. At least when the anons started to make a 2hu deck, the flavor was on point. I've only seen a couple episodes of the show listed and know that some of the connections are forced.

>Description: 10/10

Forgot coverage on one card:

>Courtly Provocateur was literally one of the first cards I owned, pulled from a Path of Victory M13 intro deck (I want my fucking Odric back Carl, and we both know that you ripped off a newbie), so I'm pleased to be able to run it in a deck as both a mascot and shifted Goblin Diplomats with cheaper costs than Bident of Thassa. Sometimes you just want to tell the Nehab player "Nice cow, nerd" or the knife-ear army "I _promise_ I don't have an Aetherize in my hand", or just make your Simulacrum, for certain, die from combat. That's something else this thing can do that those two can't, it can cause your opponents to maybe possibly lose a late game Birds of Paradise if they either don't know how to play Sensei's Divining Top, or your opponent is just a preteen that can't really afford to dump, say, $250 on a meme card all because he needed something to distract from waking up in a cold sweat caused by a night terror about strangling the Noid before drowning him in boiling water all because he ran the slave trade (and the slave trade trading cards), manifesting from revisiting your worst fears from when you were dating your Marine ex-girlfriend about what _could_ happen to her, and either way you're never going to see her again so for all you know that actually could be happening to her. . . much less that kid afford a copy of Top (or therapy). What I'm trying to say is that this card is good for bullying kids.

Sage for double post.

>Did you mean bracers?

I meant Alchemist and Bracers, and Scepter and Dramatic Reversal. deleted part of my post and forgot to correct for that

Aphetto Alchemist wearing Bracers can target itself and a mana rock, both untapping, repeated for infinite mana so having a few extra rocks isn't bad. It's better in a deck where the commander costs more than 2, but, rocks in general do well especially in metas with more MLD and stax.

I prefer Stifle since stifebird costs an extra 2 which can be key in those early parts of the game. I also need to find more room in my decks for it though I already run Trickbind in my draw-go style control decks.

Control is fun, and, after a lot of failure with white weenies, how I used to play in local tournaments.

>even more description

This got me thinking about an old idea I had for a Twin Peaks themed deck but damn is it hard to get the flavor right

File: 7fb81f098af8458⋯.jpg (25.84 KB, 620x338, 310:169, GolemGolemGolem.jpg)

I'm looking to make a new deck based upon the brilliant mechanics of Precursor Golem in America colors. The entire point is to tutor up Golem, to then target them with spells that duplicate them in a noninfinite manner, but still large enough numbers that are beyond human comprehension.

Some key spells are Rite of Replication, Fated Infatuation, Heat Shimmer, Twinflame for duplicating Golems, tutors like Mystical Tutor, Fabricate to fetch up Precursor Golems and spells to benefit from Golems, and some recursion like Restoration Specialist and Archaeomancer to bring back golems and spells if they get wiped and to repeat the process since EDH only allows one copy of each card. There's also the potential to produce even more Golems with Anointed Procession, while Arcane Adaptation and Mirror Entity spreads the Golem subtype to the rest of my creatures, bringing them all together in one big Golem family so they can join in the duplicating.

Other cards that make Golems or are Golems: Splicers, Golem Artisan, Golem Foundry, Dread Statuary, Guardian Idol, and Mirage Mirror (the copies of it won't be creatures unless those abilities are activated as well), Hammer of Purphoros (also granting haste), and Solemn Simulacrum.

Then the Golems are turned against (((their "masters"))).

Potential generals are a combination of Partner generals that make RWU like Kraum, Ludivec's Opus and Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder or Akiri, Lineslinger as an alternate win-condition via general damage, or Zedruu, the Greathearted for her lifegain and card draw.

Of course, there is a huge weakness in the deck when it revolves around a non-general card, but it looks fun to attempt.

Just make your standard token deck, and toss in Splinter Twin

Splinter Twin/Kiki-Jiki infinites are boring.

There is a reason why I emphasized Precursor Golem:

>When Precursor Golem enters the battlefield, create two 3/3 colorless Golem artifact creature tokens.

>Whenever a player casts an instant or sorcery spell that targets only a single Golem, that player copies that spell for each other Golem that spell could target. Each copy targets a different one of those Golems

Now, this can be a problem if people are using spot removal, but fuck it, we're here to have fun.

Here is an example of a play with Precursor Golem that's all able to be tutored by Wild Research (except for Precursor Golem):

Cast Anointed Procession.

Cast Precursor Golem (PG), get 4 Golem Tokens (GT).

Cast Cackling Counterpart, targeting 1 GT, copying the triggers for each of the golems once because of 1 PG, going up to 3 PG and 20 GT (GT 8 ETBs+8 copies+4 originals), a beginning point for Golem Mathematics to begin.

Mirrorweave targeting a token, stacking the triggers so the first to resolve makes them all Precursor Golems then the rest keep them that, giving us 23 PGs to work with.

Flashback CC.

23 Golem triggers are on the stack, making copies of CC for each golem other than the 1 Original Targeted Precursor Golem, or OT.

1st iteration:

+44 PGs +176 GTs, Totals: 66 PGs, 176 GTs, OT.

2nd iteration:

+132 PGs, +880 GTs. Totals: 198 PGs, 1056 GTs, OT.

3rd iteration:

+2112 PGs, +10560 GTs. Totals: 2310 PGs, 11616 GTs, OT.

4th iteration:

+4620 PGs, +41712 GTs. Totals: 6930 PGs, 53328 GTs, OT.

5th iteration:

+13860 PGs, +162096 GTs. Totals:20790 PGs, 215424 GTs, OT.

At this point, you might be starting to run out of tokens to represent this on the board, but don't worry, there's only 18 more triggers of this to resolve.

(cards for reference)

…goddamn it I fucked up my iterations at the 3rd time somehow; I should have been writing it down.

3rd iteration:

+396 PGs, + 3696 GTs, Totals: 594 PGs, 4752 GTs, OT

Still going to end up obtaining a large amount of Golems.

Who's the commander?

Haven’t decided yet but thinking Zedruu for the card draw. The partner combinations are more aggressive and also eat a card slot, Numot has a rep for LD and stax, and Ruhan is similar to the partners.

File: 57a07188695db47⋯.jpeg (24.38 KB, 223x310, 223:310, Image.jpeg)

There's a reason people use Twin-Jiki combos: they work. They ask the table to have an answer immediately or lose.

If you play out the combo like you said, I'm going to cut it down before things get out of control, and Lord help you if anyone has a K-Grip in their hand. Before anyone gets on me about being "no fun allowed," letting some guy win because he asked the table pretty please to win isn't my definition of fun either.

Here's my recommendation: cut white for green, go with Riku for the commander, and put in other payoff cards as well. You keep RoR which swarms the battlefield, have better ramp options, Avenger of Zendikar, and Progenitor Mimic. Mirrorweave kicking off for more than one turn signals a problem with the table more than deck consistency.

What about the Autistic from the old timeline of Takir?

Only Worst Timeline Narset is an aut.

My bad

I ran her before as infinite turn/attack combo. Bored of her after one weekend and she’s got a reputation to be killed on sight especially because of the hexproof preventing you from doing much about her.

I like that monk fellow, Shu Yun or what’s his name but he fits more a spellslinger/aggro while this deck is more combo.

>run good stuff.dec with filthy green cards

>player that…just gives them all five cards

This is the one of the only scenarios that would spur me to retarget a spell. It's not fun if they just hand me everything. If they refuse to put some effort into it, ill target someone who will.

File: 7619ddde78a94c8⋯.jpg (508.12 KB, 1115x700, 223:140, Shalai.jpg)

So, anyone is planning to build Shalai, Voice of Plenty or convert an already existing deck for her?

She'll take up the reins of my Gaddock teeg, and the old man will go in the 99.

I may hate being the target of FoF, but I hate it even more when someone decides to just give someone 5 free cards for 4 mana. FoF is a spell that makes you really have to think about what you're going to do and how it will affect the game, really sucks when someone decides rather than think they'll just hand the game over to someone.

File: 22b1b56037e8ca4⋯.gif (41.46 KB, 200x200, 1:1, 1434160614105.gif)

>free Storm Crows

Sweet jesus I'm banning that from my table.

I'd rather run old man Teeg in the general slot. He's cheap cmc-wise, and his abilities go very far to hinder opponents while Shalai is more reactive to protect your stuff.

>>370066 (Double dubs)

Aren't they silver-bordered

>That one autist who sleeves a Pokemon card so he can ironically scream "I PLAY CHARMANDER!" in a really bad attempt to be funny, every game

That doesn't really matter that much unless you go online with total strangers, especially if the card isn't insane to use.

File: 624e792d05ae99f⋯.jpg (113.11 KB, 1237x853, 1237:853, DaRjMf_X4AA7sNr.jpg large.jpg)

Hilariously enough, after about half a year of telling him to stop that shit, he's finally starting to get the idea that playing a fucking Charmander isn't funny.

He still does everything else except for the gay porn thing.

Now in our group I'm starting to turn into That Guy by playing shit like Hive Mind + Wheel of Fortune, Demonic Consultation, or Doomsday

>table's fw "Who wants to draw seven cards!?"

>"Free tutor guys!"

>"We're gonna stack our decks!"

What's a fun deck to play?

Keep in mind my only chance to play magic these days is with a (fairly competent but newer) player every two weeks or so, during our game night preamble. The power level of his deck is "made from starter packs from Walmart". I have a bunch of cards from Onslaught through Zendikar, so I have most themes available.

I want a deck that is consistent and wins, but is also really fun to play and "fair", and isn't tourneyfag tier "Sol Ring turn one, hasted Uril turn 2, swing for 4105 commander damage, gg". Any ideas on theme?

I had moderate success with RG Ulasht tokens a few years ago. I had Mana Echoes and a proxied Gaea's Cradle and went nuts with it, but I can't really run those cards this time.

File: 2638c21e7449472⋯.jpg (138.97 KB, 223x311, 223:311, Grenzo, Master Gambler.jpg)

Depends on what style you like, but, for a relatively cheap deck that does shenanigans, Grenzo is fun.

Tuck cards to the bottom of the library with stuff like Reito Lantern or scry, flip them with Grenzo onto the battlefield, and enjoy the mass of value you can get off of all the 2 to 3 power creatures in R/B to keep his casting cost cheap though he might die often.

Let me get a list of my legends. I don't have him but he looks fun. I imagine eg Siege-Gang Commander

>Had legends set aside

>3x Gaddock Teeg

>$41 USD each

Alright so at the very least I want to play UG/x. This lets me use some nice Simic cards like Coiling Oracle and Mystic Snake, but also some silly stuff like Followed Footsteps with the guildmage to move it around. Ideally UGW because blink and Mirror Entity memes, but I don't have any legends of that color unless I go 5 color. I'd also run stuff like Coalition Relic, Brine Elemental, Body Double sort of things.

>Momir Vig, Simic Visionary

>Animar, Soul of Elements

>Intet, the Dreamer

>Horde of Notions

I'd love to run Atogatog but I don't think I can capture the feel of the theme right (at best using Mirror Entity to go aha surprise you take lethal commander damage). Animar seems like it'd be extremely overplayed, but it goes well with my theme of creatures and counters and moving shit around, so I guess I'll do that.

Oh I see I also have Ghave, Guru of Spores. I guess I can make two similarly powered decks for fun. I see he's a fungus, so I can totally do a Thallid subtheme with his, fun times.

Okay so I went with a janky Animar build that has big dudes, gain control auras/+1 counters with Simic Guildmage and a few other goodies.

Does Animar's ability affect the cost to play morph creatures face down? Morph is listed as an alternate cost, but it's still the cost for a creature spell, no? I could see a very bullshit morph/future sight deck in the making, soon

Yeah, Animar can play morphs for free although its flip cost has no discount.

That's what I figured. If I remade the deck, I'll probably dust off my Onslaught jank and do a silly deck with him. Mostly because I don't have pics related, which most decks seem to run. That statue is silly.

Infinite combo Animar is just really boring. I know of at least three Animar players in my shop alone.

I tried brewing an EDH deck from my collection and it turned out terrible. I'm not going to go into details because it was bad. Memes aside, is ashling 99 mountain a good poorfag EDH deck to replace borrowing a friend's deck every time I play.

If you played other cards, you have access to ramp, utility, card draw, etc etc

I'd throw in everything appropriate I have of course, but the heart of the deck would still be playing ashling a lot thank god for the tuck nerf

Tuck nerf?

Also have a look at any of these decks, if you want budget Ashling:

Can't tuck commanders into the deck anymore.

above $10 I could buy a game that I would play a lot more than Magic instead of a deck.

I looked over a bunch of rules, and they got rid of that in 2015? Or is there a more recent change? I don't follow a lot of magic stuff these days.

A friend of mine runs Marath 33 Plains 33 Mountains 33 Forests.

It's silly, but Marath's various abilities give it more reach than it deserves for being such a memedeck.

How is Kiki-Jiki as a commander, both to build, play, and play against?

It seems really swingy, and like you could easily go infinite if you wanted to be a high power asshole. But other decklists I see online tend to be about duplicating his ability, or using ETB/LTB effects with timing abuse, such as stealing creatures to attack or copying spells

I've always seen him and seen him used as one of the 99, since going with blue alongside him is just too easy to abuse. On his own, though, you don't need to do much more than drop huge creatures and artifacts, then go out in attacking. Shit like Wurmcoil Engine if you want to be viable, or Bearer of the Heavens if you want to be a dickcheese.

>run RWU blink stuff

>mulldrifters, riftwing cloudskates, body doubles, kiki jiki, flametongue kavus, bogardan hellkites, venser, momentary blink

How fun. I was going to make a janky modern casual deck that was UBR/x reanimator but I might try this instead.

I'm planning to build my younger brother a edh deck with pic related. He's still learning the game so its gonna be simple and budget so he can make it into whatever he wants. Probably gonna focus on using thicc dudes and lifegain benefits. Just glad he wants to play tbh

Replace the commander if you want thicc dudes and lifegain what about Dragonlord Dromoka or Ishkanah, Grafwidow

Is he new to Magic or new to the format? If he knows Magic then it would be better to give him a commander that can offer a little bit more than Lifegain.

Sounds new to the game, which means Timmy. So give him a simple stompy lifegain deck and let him have fun.

Then you can teach him that the opponent having an untapped island means he's lost

hes still learning the game. most of the people i play magic with almost exclusively play edh. there are enough casual players around so he wont get shit stomped every game

i fiddled around with the cards i have and the deck keeps wanting to turn into tokens/sac outlets. i could go with shifting the deck to run primal surge and go from there.

i was gonna run a tigam, ojutai master list to be around the same power level just to show him how not to get btfo by counters

You need to put for him a way to deal with counters anyway. Just telling him to explore possibilities won't do shit.

Is there like a decent, budget way to play Nekusar? I get the whole wheel and deal aspect, but I'm not sure how to defend him or myself from the group.

Not really, he really shines when you play him like a storm deck, playing lots of mana rocks, playing Underworld Dream and Megrim effects and looping Time Twister and Wheel of Fortune.

Best way to protect him are boots, and using propaganda effects as well as rattle snake effects like No Mercy.

I reckon a decent budget Nekusar could only come under around $200.

Has anyone does anything interesting with nuJhoira? I've waited so long for an Izzet commander that syncronizes with artifacts and I get a cantrip enabler with dogshit art compared to the original Jhoira.

I guess I can just take apart my Slobad deck and add in all of the blue artifact cards I've been wishing I could have in there, it's just a shame that my commander wont be doing anything more interesting that speeding up my deck.

big titty edit of Jhoria at least has big titties.

When I look at Wheel decks, I always want to run Teferi's Puzzle Box, Jace's Archivist+Pemmin's Aura

Why is Coalition Victory still banned? If your opponents let you assemble a wastes, swamp, forest, mountain, island and plains they deserve to lose.

>We will never have a decent 3-4color Warrior tribal commander

>>4 player game where they let you ramp up to 8 mana and have an aura on your lands

Pick 2

Once you get past the awful art, the 5-color Battlebond warrior is fantastic.

Play storm

that's it

>5 color

>In a tribe meant for aggro

>5-color warrior commander

It's ultimate ability is too good to just throw it away but 5-color aggro is just plain nonsense.

A Mardu color warrior tribal is what's needed.

>All this bitching about five color after bitching about there not being a four color

Any deck that runs four colors should have access to five unless for some reason you're not playing Command Tower, City of Brass, Chromatic Lantern, etc. Just don't put many blue cards in it and treat it like four color since the first ability is good as-is.

One of the people you linked wanted it Mardu, 3 color (RBW), which makes sense for warriors.

File: c64b3b17a09a569⋯.jpg (48.04 KB, 414x578, 207:289, WS232540.jpg)

I brew around this guy few weeks back.

After some online playtesting I decided to buy the cards I still needed.

Artifact heavy, but lots of options.

I sadly noticed that I forgot to order my Sundial of the Infinite for maximum fun.

I was initially very pessimistic on this guy, but now that I'm looking at him again there are a fair few ways to have fun with the tokens he produces. Do you have a decklist link for academic purposes?

Main problem with him I see is you really need them boots to protect him, and if you get the wrong boots you need to equip them to other creatures to throw auras on him.

I first searched in my card pile for some red spells and artifacts I could use, thought having both Act of Treason and Hijack would be fun in here.

It's an IRL deck, and since I'm a filthy casual budget guy it won't be that optimal either.

Its main weakness is indeed getting removed/countered the first 2 times it gets played, mainly counters.

Swiftfoot boots, Darksteel Plate and Mask of Avacyn are its main protections.

Didn't add Lightning Greaves because of the shroud which could make it tricky like you already said.

I also noticed that the setup time is real, first paying for artifacts and then paying to equip them.

Ideal you got one artifact on him at turn 4 (turn 1-2; play artifact, turn 3; play Valduk, turn 4-; equip artifacts and play enchantments).

The only reason he works as a commander is because he doesn't need to actually attack for the tokens to spawn and the tokens are 3/1 with trample and haste.

Take one of those factors away and it would be shit.

>That wall of text

>Mana dork commander

So...what's the strategy?

>Archaeomancer is the deck's (moral) win con. You see, by casting it, in addition to doing actually smart plays like re-using Memory Plunder on Dark Petition for cheap, reusable tutors, you can also use it on Whelming Wave and Evacuation if your opponents are stupid enough to let you get to 8 mana. Bounce. Repeat. Lose friends.

>Mastermind's Acquisition is the deck's actual win con if you don't get Jace/Sparring Construct off since it doesn't actually exile itself, therefore it can be re-casted after an engine has been set up.

So your win con is annoying your opponents so much they just quit out of frustration?

I mean sure it's a win con I guess.

During the deck's maiden voyage it did more than that.

>Setup Ashnod's Altar + Lich with Lucrezia, Norrit, and morphed Alchemist on the field, Dramatic Reversal in hand

>Noble Benefictor hits the board

>Sac to altar, bring back, sac again

>Go for Scepter after tutoring a Counterspell ("accidentally" brandishing it to the blue player who admitted to not running Pact but kept mana open

>Morph Alchemist, let everyone tutor for forty cards from combo

>Toss in Sparring Construct and make Lucrezia a 10,000,001/10,000,000

>Mastermind's Acquisition for Lightning Grieves

>Elite Arcanist with Memory Plunder hits the board

>Guy next to me starts losing his shit when he sees mee reach into my deck ox for my Brimaz deck

>Politely ask the table, "guys, can I shortcut what I'm about to do if I can explain it?"

>Table's pretty much like "wut"

>"Well, you see, Mastermind's Acquisition doesn't exile itself, and Memory Plunder doesn't exile the target, so I can get any number of any card I want, so after getting everything from this deck here, drop a few of its lands and permanents down (including a white mana producing artifact), tossing all of the cards from my old deck except Lucrezia and Walking Atlas into the graveyard, then exile them with a Tormod's Crypt or something."

>Table: "WUT."

>Guy next to me, completely fucking losing his shit laughing: "He's basically, legally, switching what deck he's playing mid-game"

>Poor Estrid player has no idea what's even happening anymore

>Pass the turn to the guy who gets what's happening

>Casts Day's Undoing to shuffle the deck I just tutored for into my deck, then draw a hand

>Game continues as normal with a fuckin' sweet Brimaz board state and a 10,000,001 power Princess Lucrezia

I do not get how you started the combo, but dang it that deck switcheroo seems extremely fun.

Tutor Engine:

>When Benefactor dies, everyone Demonic Tutors.

>Altar = Benefactor dies at instant speed

>Lich = Ability to recast Benefactor after it dies, each time at a net loss of 1U mana

Search for other portion of Dramatic Scepter combo, morphing Alchemist to gain ability to generate 3 blue mana from Lucrezia. Drop it down for infinite mana

Use last two black mana to drop a Mastermind's Aquisition, fetch grieves for Elite Arcanist later

<Tutor for Signet immediately after dropping Arcanist, then eventually go for another mana rock for any color

>Drop Elite Arcanist, exiling Memory Plunder for ability to recast Memory Plunder for as long as mana is available (indefinitely because of Dramatic Sceptor combo + mana rocks) and Arcanist is untapped (Dramatic Sceptor).

Asd for the Sparring Construct, that's just getting two mana from it with Altar, then paying 1 for Lich's ability to be able to recast it (1 colorless mana). Net loss/gain of zero mana.

It was fragile as hell, but I timed it to work with the table.

>When Benefactor dies, everyone Demonic Tutors.

>Altar = Benefactor dies at instant speed

>Lich = Ability to recast Benefactor after it dies, each time at a net loss of 1U mana

Nice touch on that instant speed.

I can only imagine the faces when you casually take out another deck to play with.

ITT shit brainlet EDH players say/do

>"Hm, I don't know who I want to attack." (rolls dice)

>"You're bluffing about having a board wipe in your hand."

>"Whose commander is the deadliest here?"

>(Sees commander that isn't Nekuzar) "Oh, yeah, I know what that deck does."

>(Various complaints about getting wheeled in a game lacking a mill, rack, or Nekuzar deck)

>"I'm not running any graveyard hate in this deck."

>"I don't have a way to deal with tokens."

>(Gets wheeled) "Well, there goes my only win con."

>"Wait, what's causing [global effect]?"

>"Dude, why are you attacking me? All I did was swing some goblins at you."

>(Casts spell taking up entire mana pool) "Yeah, well, I was baiting a counterspell..."

>"It's not called 'ganging up,' it's called politics."

>"Well, I could swing my Zurgo at him, but then I would need to pay two mana to get around Ghostly Prison, so I'll deal with it later when I have more mana."

>"You know what? I don't feel like paying the one for Rhystic Study. You can draw cards, I don't care."

>"That's a big 7/7. Does anyone have a board wipe?"

>(Sees the multi-color deck get mana fixing) "Watch out guys, he's setting up a combo."

>"That's revenge for killing my planeswalker."

>"Why are you stopping me, all I want to do it [wincon]."

>"Force of Will is better than Pact in this format."

>"Stifle sucks."

>"There's no rule against silver bordered cards."

>Alternatively in the middle of the game: "Oops. Sorry guys, I forgot I was running an 'un-card' in here. Can I still play it?"

>(Actually uses token cards for a dedicated token deck that can feasibly hit two dozen tokens."

>"You can't use morph during K-Grip"

>"Enchantments tutored with Zur go onto the stack."

This one pains me on a personal level. Especially blue players that pull that shit.

>"Aw man, I don't have a way to get around that combo."

>>"I'm not running any counterspells in this deck, though."

>"If you had just waited one more turn, I'd have drawn [card] and been able to deal with that."

>"I should have just hated you out of the game immediately"

>"How much does that deck cost anyway?"

>(Sees card played) "How much does that card cost?"

>>"No, I don't mean mana, I mean how much money does it cost?"

>(Gets card countered with Remand) "Phhh, okay, I'll just cast it again next turn and hit YOU with it!"

And now because I've run out of one-liners for this, here's a story about the two dumbest EDH players I've ever met.

>Be anon posting >>355398

>Decide to branch out of shitshop

>Go to another shop and join another small playgroup for a few games

>Immediately piss off one guy by taking out his Planeswalker with an aggro deck

>His (blatant) friend plays mass land destruction in a Sram deck

>Land Tax + low curve = w/o

>Actually a pretty fun, tight game. Sram ultimately wins by giving his voltron unblockable, but I'm putting up a hell of a fight while the other two guys aren't doing shit.

>PW faggot: "Yeah, if he didn't take you out, and you actually beat him, I was just going to play [care] and kill you afterwards."

>Ask him why he didn't just play that sooner and take the win for himself anyway. Silence.

>Next game begins. Buddy from shitshop jokes about bringing out Atraxa.

>"Get it. I want an excuse to play Kess."

Kess in our playgroup is synonymous with "cancerous reanimation wheeling combo bullshit." The two faggots never went to shitshop, so they wouldn't have known this.

>"I don't know if I want to."

>"Play it. I reeeeeaaaaally want to play Kess right now.

>One of them wants to play a really shitty Kalemne deck, the Planeswalker ass wants to play something that honestly I can't even remember.

>Turns begin. Lands drop. Nothing really happens turns 1-3. Drop a Baleful Strix while Atraxa drops a Blighted Agent.

>Kalemne readies the spot removal in his hand.

I'm going to give you anons five seconds to determine what he uses it on. That's right, the Baleful Strix.

>Atraxa player and I exchange glances, both of us in half-disbelief.

>Zombie faggot takes the opportunity to swing 2 damage at me because I guess having a 2/2 token instead of a 1/1 with a poison counter is vital to his strategy of being a huge dumbass, I suppose

>Game continues as such. I drop a board wipe, counter a few spells. Atraxa player hits both of them with Blighted Agent and drops his Atraxa out (he knows that he doesn't want me to start making his commander impossible to cast, and that the other two guys are basically ignoring him while he sets up INFECT damage as long as I'm alive. Meanwhile Atraxa can't really beat my deck in a race to combo off first, so I don't have anything to gain from targeting him) ALONG WITH a Helm of the Host.

>Helm of the Host goes on Atraxa.

>Zombie player is aware of all of this, as he's been getting tokens from Noosegraf Mob.

>Goes for swinging 8 at me.

>70% done

>"Are you sure about that?"

>"Follow up question: Are you stupid?"

>"Atraxa's been proliferating infect on you two for the past few turns, and now [player] has Helm of the Host out. He's going to kill you and your friend in three turns at most if you don't deal with him right now. You're not even dealing anywhere close to lethal damage to me. Have you been paying attention to the board?"

Immediately afterwards they both started turning their attention towards Atraxa, but one turn cycle later I comboed off and took the game.

The next game was a massive free for all where this John-Oliver-looking guy took control with a small army of dragons. Kalemne decided to ride out this wave and take a chance to be a butthurt little douche about the whole thing and target me for no good reason (I was playing a shit deck so there wasn't any real threat, but I had board presence to not be a complete target. See for yourself >>392050). I asked him if he wanted to take this into a one-on-one game. The piece of shit responded with "Do you want to take this out by the flagpole?"

If they weren't going to have a 2HG prerelease this Sunday, I'd happily have taken him up on his offer. It isn't worth screwing over my partner just because some shitty EDH player wants a broken arm. I wrote it off on the spot with "You want to play Magic outside? Dude, the humidity will ruin the foils. Do you know how much this Ashnod's Altar is worth?" A couple people from the group chuckled because half of our foils were warped anyway, and he sat silent for a few beats since he would have been in deep shit if he specified he wanted to get into a physical fight over a trading card game.

>If they weren't going to have a 2HG prerelease this Sunday, I'd happily have taken him up on his offer.

>It isn't worth screwing over my partner just because some shitty EDH player wants a broken arm.

The others already know now that you're the bigger man, let nerds be nerds.

By the way who actually plays infect in EDH?

It shortens games immensely so what's the point of it?

>By the way who actually plays infect in EDH?

>It shortens games immensely so what's the point of it?

Not to be that guy, but I hate multiplayer. If you have one player being slow and autistic in a duel, you can reasonably expected two in a four-player game. Card value is suddenly hard to manage because you need to have a panic button against bullshit, but if you overdo it, everyone chimps out and kills you.

I don't like multiplayer either but I guess it makes sense.

So having played in the format, what are your thoughts on drafting it?

I'm very new to drafting and this was my tenth pre-release or something, but i heard some veterans say that this would be a fun set to draft.

As far as I can see Dimir is king, Golgari is queen.

It looks like a fun format with lots of possibilities and the Surveil-Undergrowth combo is ridiculous (Surveil on its own is ridiculous to be honest).

It's fun for drafting, it has shocklands and some good rares too, I'd go for it.

I got the feeling Surveil > Undergrowth. Black seems to be a powerhouse this set because of both, but surveil and digging for gas is just good. I guess even if you did UB you could dump some jump-start cards and recycle them or what not

File: 8067d0d40808358⋯.jpg (95 KB, 672x936, 28:39, grn-166-dimir-spybug.jpg)

Surveil is definitely better.

It's basically scrying and they put it on a lot of cards plus lots of "whenever you surveil, x or y happens".

You see pic related?

Some madman put flying and menace on a cheap-ass card that can get pumped whenever you do the colour-bound keyword ability.

Shit's insane.

So I have a lot of fun playing edh woth this gem:

It is far from optimized or anything. It is, however, the best thing for sitting in the background and playing people against one another until it is time to Debt to the Deathless some nerds into oblivion.

Woth my ass.

Pardon doubleposting. Cannot tolerate my own spelling errors.

Also has anybody tried combining speed and blitz magic with edh? It gets hectic fast.

I had an idea for a deck where you don't attack anyone, instead you put up a bunch of wall and/or big butts then proceed buff and help all the other players with pic related as your commander. The only problem is you need to play with at least 2 others for it to work which isn't hard. And 2 i'm not sure if it would be fun enough to be worth the money, thought i'd share my idea though.

So thanks to a bunch of people at my shop thinking I'm a liar and forcing me to outline the process, I took the time to sit down and map out the cards explicitly needed in order to pull off an effective deck swap. Since it's all in front of me, organized, I might as well share it all with you guys.

>Indefinite mana (actually not, but there's no way you're going to shit out the 100+ colorless mana through lands).

>Indefinite instant/sorcery duplication (usually played through something like the above + Nivix Guildmage or something)

>Mastermind's Aquisition on the stack.

>Cards in pile (B) to swap to (either a new deck, a gimmick field a la challenge event decks, 99 copies of Grizzly Bears, etc)

>>Stroke of Genius, Pull From Tomorrow, or a similar card besides Blue Sun's Zenith within this selection to draw your deck

The Process

With the field set up to indefinitely copy a spell, play a Mastermind's Acquisition, copying it to tutor for the cards you want to swap into, along with the rest of the cards mentioned in this post.

Optional: I am assuming that you have some access to black mana if you're casting Mastermind's Acquisition. If you don't, you'll need a minimum of one more if you follow this down to the letter. However, you will need a heavy source of blue mana, so if you don't have that, then your priority should be setting up an infinite source of blue mana. "Dramatic Scepter" + Gilded Lotus will simplify everything here.

Drop a Call the Bloodline, then play your Stroke of Genius While there are other discard effects that don't require mana, you shouldn't need to worry about paying the 1 at this point, and the token creation will be relevant later. Use your selected draw spell to pull everything from your deck into your mega-hand, then discard all of the cards except for your next turn's hand, the rest of the cards in these instructions, and the lands you want to have on the field and any other spells you want to cast this turn.

At this point, your opponents should know that you're in a position to win the game. However, you're being a jackass and swapping decks instead because this is all about fun at the end of the day.

Place a Walking Atlas onto the board along with a Junktroller/Epitaph Golem/ Reito Lantern, or similar onto the board. Give them haste by some means other than auras (I personally like to use Act of Treason because it thematically describes what this does to the spirit of a serious game, but you can have some variance here if you aren't playing Grixis. Just keep in mind that if you use Junktroller, you'll need to do the same thing to it as well whereas the others just need mana dumped into them). Drop a Freed from the Real onto the Walking Atlas, then use it's ability to drop all of the lands you want to have onto the field onto the field. LEAVE THE ATLAS UNTAPPED, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

Either drop a Pemmin's Aura onto the Junktroller or just dump mana into your Golem/Lantern to put every card you want in your new library from your graveyard into your new library. You can use a cheap tutor if you want to shuffle it.

Next comes the real magic. Drop a Barrin, Master Wizard onto the battlefield. Once he resolves, immediately tap the Atlas to drop your Bojuka Bog. Walking Atlas's ruling states that the land is put on when the effect is activated, even being allowed during an opponent's turn, since it isn't played. Either way, Bojuka Bog's effect will go onto the stack. Retain priority, then use Barrin's ability to sacrifice all permanents from your old field except he, and one of the tokens generated through Call the Bloodline, including the Bojuka Bog and the Atlas AND the enchantment on it. Target the token with all of them, but retain priority each time (unless you need to work around a triggered ability of some kind) so that it doesn't bounce before you're ready.

Note that Barrin doesn't specify that another permanent needs sacrificed, so finally sac him to pay for the effect. Letting the stack finally resolve, the token bounces out of existence, the rest of Barrin's bounces fizzle, and Bojuka Bog exiles everything on your old board, your old deck, and everything you used to execute this process.

>But isn't everything still technically there in Exile?

Unless your group has a house rule about allowing A.W.O.L, yes, but nobody plays Processors, so who cares?

>Isn't my commander still the old one, though?

Yes, so swap carefully, mind your board state, and keep a counterspell handy.

>Can't I use this to set up a stupid field like Possibility Storm + Memory Pool + Hive Mind after playing Obliterate?

Yes, but keep in mind that if your table doesn't like the idea, or you get too complex, they'll probably just leave. When you combo'd off to do this, a lot of them already accepted that they weren't really going to win the game anyway, even if you swapped to your weakest deck.

>What colors are needed for this? Can I go find cards outside of my commander's colors for this?

Establish some good house rules on Wish cards before trying this shit to save some headaches.

On the colors needed, either Red or Black going in to either use Burning Wish to get Acquisition or just play Acquisition itself.

Why not?

>No, I mean Why-Why?

I consider it lowkey revenge for all of the shit that my playgroup has pulled throughout the years, and for one of its tryhard members trying to talk shit about me to the others within it. Plus, it's a fun little party trick that keeps the game going in a way that doesn't really give anyone a reason to complain after going off with a semi-competitive combo deck. I could win consistently on turn 3 and leave everyone who doesn't want to learn how to actually get gud butthurt, or I could pull a wild card and just start playing an aggro tribal/group hug/landfall/etc deck out of nowhere and continue the game like nothing ever happened while everyone at the table is still wrapping their heads around what just happened. Or just replace everything with 6 20/20 unblockable tokens to see if anyone there actually learned to put in spot removal yet.

Can only activate call the bloodline once a turn.

Pack Rat, Pegasus Refuge, Saproling Cluster all let you discard cards and create a creature.

I forgot to mention that I used a Noose Constrictor after getting the one token out just to be mana inefficient, but I was intentionally wrong there because it was 4:00 am and I didn't to take the time to search on gatherer for a substitute for both cards. Someone was abound to catch that and put in a simpler answer. Somoene did.

Okay, so now that everything's set up for understanding how to grab any card you want and replace your deck with it, Ineed some help with something else: I need to figure out how to make logic gates represented in board presence and/or +1/+1 counters for probably the worst idea I've ever had.

By using a Deadeye Navigator and with infinite mana, we can pay to flicker a Bond Beetle to write counters onto creatures to represent 1, and flicker a Decimator Beetle to put a -1/-1 counter on that creature, negating it back to 0. Pretty much any 5 different ETB token creators can be used to create a field for where our hard memory, RAM, and RGB display is (I'm going to use Attended Knight, Seller of Songbirds, Ambassador Oak, Aspiring Aeronaut, and Beetleback Chief) .We can finally hardwire a trap to whatever token(s) represents a memory flag for whenever a player loses our little "setup" (i.e. a token with Dying Wish after we've pushed the opponent to 1 life before setting all of this up). Since this will all go off of tokens, we can us something other than cards to represent it. I choose tiny magnets found in computer drives.

I've swapped my deck with another deck. Now, for one turn, I want to swap my deck with a Gameboy Advance and have us play a level of Mario 3. Only thing is that I don't know how to represent logic gates within MtG.

Holy shit guys, I'm so close to doing it that I can practically fucking taste the confusion. All I'm missing is some way to make a NOT gate, OR gate, and xOR gate. The difficulty here is that I had an epiphany in that just like using electricity as the power source and means to transport data, we can use mana to represent the bits of electricity sent through the system, with colors representing what section is being fed power.

Initiate previous deck swap idea, keeping your spell recursion engine online and fetching the pieces for this process.

Drop the "Dramatic Scepter" combo, and a Gilded Lotus. More than a specific mana combo, you'll want to have the Scepter combo out to untap all of your creatures indefinitely. This will simplify writing data, to remove Bond Beetle from the previous design.

Drop a Hex Parasite, and an Ogre Battledriver. This is the basis for your processing unit.

Drop a Crystalline Crawler (your basic bit unit), and a Dwarven Armorer (powering your LED values for R/B). Cast Rite of Replication on it, then copy Rite of Replication for as many times as you need in order to account for the storage you'll need, the RAM you'll need, the number of button inputs you'll want, and the number of pixels your display will have.

Prepare '''Any creature capable of shuffling itself into its owner's library whenever it's discarded, and any creature capable of tapping itself to draw a card (i.e. Guile and Azami, Lady of Scrolls). This will be your video card(s) to control the display with Dwarven Armorer, using the following guide:

+0/+1 counter: 1 Red value

+1/+0 counter: 1 Blue value

+1/+1 counter: 1 Green value

You can use a similar setup to replicate the sound functionality. I don't know about the hardware for how that works, so I won't even try to replicate it.

The Hardware

Tap the crawlers in your main storage drive in a patterned defined as being the binary storage for whatever game you're setting up.

Hex Parasite will be your main tool for removing counters. It will be Red mana which powers this.

As for the actual processing, I'm still piecing together how to do this, but using Daily Regimen on one of the cloned tokens, we can make an inpromptu AND gate.

Lastly, hook up the traps to whatever data specifies to whatever condition you want to use to end the MtG game (i.e. an in-game death). Whenever the table asks you what the fuck you mean and what the fuck you just did, whip out the Game Boy and declare that you're going to use it to represent your field, explaining the LED representation according to the guide as well, and that you'll attempt to be shortcutting which data sectors get read along with most of the manual data handling, which will be done in a binary reading from +1/+1 counters on the Crawlers.

The Result

Start playing your Game Boy to determine how the match ends.

File: a080747cffcce56⋯.png (183.22 KB, 248x319, 248:319, Th09ShikieikiYamaxanadu.png)

It's 2:45 am, so my wording might be odd. Saging for double posting as well, but putting the Daily Regimen on an 'Experimental One' can make a NOT gate with a little help from a 'Bioshift' on the likes of an Elite Arcanist/Scepter or your screen reseter used an Eldrazi titan to fuel it.

This also standardizes your transfer of data, by making the data you want to read by playing Evolution Vat and use it to double the number of counters on whatever you want to read data from. This also means that an xOR gate can be made.

Use the following operations to pass logic:

Dump all white/black mana in your pool, then...

<AND - Attempt to produce two white mana with the crawler with an otherwise empty pool (Use Hex Parasite to dump your mana). Pay for Daily Regimen onto Experimental One. Transfer all counters on it further down the line.

<OR - Generate one black mana to pay for the generic cost of Daily Regimen. Attempt to produce one white mana with two crawlers. Use Daily Regimen if possible, then transfer all counters generated. Dump any remaining mana.

<xOR - Transfer 1 +1/+1 counter from both Crawlers onto Experimental One, then use its ability if able. Transfer all counters remaining.

<NOT - Use the Lotus to create the mana needed for 1 Daily Regimen trigger, then transfer a counter if able from the bit to the Experimental One. Use Experimental One's ability if able, then transfer any remaining counters.

For any of the other nuanced ones, you could use similar functions, but the important thing is that we have the token hardware set up.

I'm going to do it.

So help me GOD next Friday I'm going to beat my playgroup by playing a Gameboy Advance, and it's going to be legal within the game's rules.

File: 321b4acdb44b347⋯.png (92.44 KB, 300x262, 150:131, tom doesnt want to live af….png)

Well guys, I did it.

I put all the tokens onto the field. I explained the binary reading and the components, and I shortcut the patterns to match the cartridge output, including the LEDs. I used a few extra crawlers to represent the inputs, thenrigged it up with a not-Ballista from the latest set. Only thing I didn't do was play Mario - I only had a copy of Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland found. Come time for the flag for Wispy Woods' defeat, the game ended with lethal damage to my opponents. I literally killed the table by beating a boss in Kirby on GBA, and deduced that the same setup could trigger for any condition on any computer since it was the same concept, but scaled.

Now, I have absolutely no ideas where to go from here - where to go from "do literally anything digital you want in-game" in the 'dream game.' We can host sub-games. We can go play Animal Jam. We can watch fucking Barney and end it when the theme song ends. We can do whatever and still be within the game's rules on token representation, and I have no idea what to do from here.

I am at a complete loss for deckbuilding ideas now.

Guys, I'm almost there to completely breaking this stupid fucking game, but I need a little bit of help (not expecting any given how well the last few went, but it doesn't hurt to ask).

>How does this niggerfaggot want to break the game further?

>Isn't this the same anon that whipped out a Gameboy to represent a bunch of tokens and started playing Mario/Kirby to kill everyone?

Yes, and I just realized something - Split Second means that spells cannot be cast, nor activated abilities. Morph, however, is an exception, putting triggered abilities onto the stack since morph only requires priority in order to be used (see 702.36e), not the stack. Hypothetically, then, a situation can be made where a spell with Split Second exists on the stack, with an indefinite loop of morph abilities being used (at least, until the controller chooses to stop). For all intents and purposes, this loop happens repeatedly.

Shortcutting provides, then, probably the closest thing to real-time gameplay that I can think of in this since players are unable to operate with the normal spell-casting mechanics and would require the players utilize only their field or the current stack, since all actions after a declaration are automatic

>WHAT? I'm fairly certain it doesn't work like that.

Same, but the idea is burgeoning. That's why I need a little help ironing out the process, and how other players could interact with it (Donating morph cards, etc...).

Currently I'm thinking the loop goes something like this: Set up indefinite/10^(a googolplex squared) (some inexhaustible amount you will never mathematically used) mana of green, black, blue, and white -> Cast Ixidron and other morph creatures (Resolve) -> Cast a Split Second Card (do not resolve; retain priority) -> Morph Skinthinner and target Ixidron (resolve) -> Morph Den Protector and return Ixidron to hand (resolve) -> Morph Root Elemental and put Ixidron onto battlefield (resolve; resolve Ixidron's ETB).

Now I'm just left thinking 'now what?' How can we break this further?

The last one is kind of a bitch since 'time' doesn't operate in MtG like it does in the real world since everything is handled by priority and phase shifts, and shortcutting will only go so far...

Starting a game of Planar Conquest in Forge (which is EDH based). Is this a good pick for starting general and Planeswalker?

Wait, what's Planar Conquest?

And how does it play?

A new(er?) mode in Forge. Each plane has a separate map and is centered around a particular block of cards. On each plane you navigate a (very simple) map kicking NPC (one for each legendary creature in the set, plus some extra spaces) ass in Children's Card Games! When you win a match you get a roulette spin. You can either get that creature's card and a spin on a roulette that can give you booster(s), shards or another opponent to fight (no idea what happens if you win those yet). Shards allow you to buy new cards and are gained by roulette or by duplicate cards being automatically converted to shard (since it's Highlander you only need one of each). Cards obtained by trading shards are random, but you can filter it by color, creature/non-creature permanent/sorcery+instanst and CMC. For a premium you can guarantee of higher rarity.

Forgot to mention. Current planes are

After winning enough unique battles you can unlock new planes. Not sure which one I should go to first.

I've got version 1.6.19

Is there some sort of unstable beta available?

Apparently it's mobile only and unofficial builds so far. I'm only playing it on my phone to avoid Java.

Ah well, thanks for informing me about its existence. I'll just hold out for it.

anyone knows how does nu-teysa works with the haunt mechanic?

I want to make a new modern deck.

I'm a casual player, currently have BW warriors, mono black swamp devotion and Gruul artillery.

I want something out of my comfort zone, something control-ish but still fun to play against.

Any tips on archetypes or themes?

This sounds VERY familiar to my political "will of the council" political EDH deck.

>Fun to play against

Wrong format. Modern decks go off by Turn 4 at the latest or not at all.

>something control

>still fun to play against

Control is an archetype to beat. People either find fun in playing against different challenges, or they outright will always hate control. Also modern is better discussed in >>392526

That's why I said CASUAL.

We use modern as a reference format in terms of cards that are allowed or not.

Didn't even know this thread existed, maybe next time they got to use a MtG-related image to open the thread.

Recently put together a mono-black demon tribal list since I'd always wanted a simple deck for new players and a mono-coloured deck. The general is Ob Nixilis, Unshackled for the tutor hate and multiple forms of evasion. He also synergizes with demons, because although they have few actual synergies, many of them come with board wipes or removal bolted to them with ETB effects.

>maybe next time they got to use a MtG-related image to open the thread

>not recognizing best girl

<not using the search function to find MTG threads

Truly disappointing.

Imagine being this casual

I know a guy who calls me pay2win because I buy my cards online instead of opening dozens of packs.

I'm not even joking, it doesn't matter if you have a T1 priced modern deck as long as you got it by opening boosters in his books.

My group tends to listen to me. Or at least, I can influence two or three key people with my opinions and it will propagate to the rest of the store.

That is, card quality is down, the next set is very boring and underpowered, and it's always better to buy singles than packs

>That is, card quality is down, the next set is very boring and underpowered, and it's always better to buy singles than packs

>People seriously need persuasion and someone else to believe this

I always thought that this was the general consensus.

>it's always better to buy singles than packs

<draft costs as much as a movie in the theater

<draft organized by friends by buying a box together is cheaper

<packs as prizes for constructed play, including EDH with an entry fee

<legalized gambling for anyone under 18

<even older, it is tough to break that gambler's rush when considering a pack

Even if it is general consensus, and objectively rational, people are irrational, and easy to drop cash on loot boxes.

Built Trostani on a whim, after toying with the idea since I started playing Commander 8 years ago.

Proceeded to go from an unassuming board to attacking for lethal with 5 200/200 Craterhoof Behemoths in a single turn. What a good deck.

I also meant that the card quality is down and the next set being underpowered and boring but you still got good points.

Sure, but you get newfags, retards, and genuine idiots that don't know any better and they just need a little reinforcement

>card quality is down

<Players I know basically only care about the modern/edh cards printed every set.

<Except that one guy who gets "excited for standard" until it eventually devolves and dies

<Just the last week I was drafting and several cards had water damage out of the pack.

>the next set is very boring and underpowered

<Which leads to pro's instantly breaking it because R&D caters to brainlets.

>it's always better to buy singles than packs

<And then there's that one faggot who works at Walmart and lives with his mom who buys a box of ultimate masters.

<Always some whalord.

>People seriously need persuasion and someone else to believe this

I'm convinced at this point it's cyclic because despite making a litany of errors people keep coming back to defend WOTC.

The only reason I'm still drafting is because I've found some lovable faggots at a new store, the staff doesn't police us there, and the CEDH meme is shooed away like the plague. Speaking of:

>Sheldon and the rules committee still have yet to declare CEDH it's own thing, but still maintain a ban list.

>"You just do what works for you playgroup! It's not like we set a precedent by making the rules acknowledged in an official product or anything"

>Fast mana is still allowed.

>Teferi is still allowed as a commander

>But I still need to ask people publicly if they mind me playing my Nephilim deck.

>See multiple people with almost the same deck lists card for card in a casual format.

Fucking this every single time.

Magic is caught in an eternal September from which we cannot wake because it sells.

>I always thought that this was the general consensus.

Whales are the main reason. People do draft, but whales buy cases and that's what allows wotc to keep shitting out more product while skimping on quality. Arena looks like it's going to be wotc's new cash cow. It costs less than paper magic and they can milk even more people than before.

I used to play Magic when I was at school, and got Norin in a booster pack. I never quite understood the card: on the surface it seems useless, it does even run away when he's alone attacking. On the other hand, there may be some sick combos to make with it, but I never figured one out. Is it a good card? How should it be used? It always intrigued me.

enter the battlefield triggers are Norin's best friends. Norin returning multiple times can accrue a ton of value over a short amount of time. He's more potent on a larger table than a small one, however. Also he dies to on board abilities, assuming you don't have spells to respond with.

Have a look in the EDH deck posted. It has some ways to literally make the most out of Norin entering the battlefield effectively each turn.

But yeah, Norin is the definition of jank, and only really shines in EDH.

Yeah my deck has a bunch of mini-combos that can win you the game and a few bombs to save your ass. Currently I'm winning most of my games online via concession, so the win rate might be a bit skewed because not many people like warp world or confusion in the ranks resolving.

What do the anons here think of the c18 precons?

I am personally quite jaded about them, but took the opportunity to grab wakandaman and cannibalize it for a Kresh Reanimator.

Snagged Aminatou too, as people I play with hate the art.

Estrid fucked up my playgroup because of everyone thinking they're unique and special for making prison variants or the precon straight.

Currently working on Derevi to show just how cancerous Bant can be and stick a middle finger to that conformation.

My basketball American.

The planeswalkers as commanders is mostly shit. Planeswalker cards are too clumsy, so they only work in the 99. Kresh is equipped with Wakandabullshitisdis, Garruk Apex Predator and Liliana Vess, and the reasoning behind this is the fact that they are either engines, distractions, or removal. Since they are easy to remove they are not doubleplus unfun for my playgroup.
