>/v/ has SsethTzeenach and MandaloreGaming

People may agree with some youtubers, but they will turn on them if they change. An anonymous userbase, especially the size of 8chan, is a bad place to start your growth as anyone who gets to a decent size will find appealing to the 300-2000 active users won't provide the same numbers as dumping it on a popular page on reddit. Likewise, anonymity is not conducive to a consistent audience.

Everyone knows this, and that's why all the projects that appeal to chans remain obscure compared to pretty much anything mainstream. What is the most mainstream thing you can think of that a chan has made (other than regurgitated memes)? Katawa Shoujo? You saw what happened with the faggy Yandev.

Even if the persons primary audience is shit, if they make high quality videos (thorough, witty, concise etc), you can still enjoy them.

May as well use this thread for this topic, but I don't feel like there's much point in being overly pissy about linking to youtube. Archive articles from really shitty sites and avoid direct linking to certain places. No one wants to see some faggots posting their facebook and tumblr pages, of course.. but Hooktube and invidious don't do anything, and condensing anything over 2 minutes into a 16mb webm is not as easy as some anons make it out to be. If you're really desperate to not be tracked by google and the other usual suspects, you're better off not using the internet.. or simply opting out of all their fucking tracking services. Go to https://myactivity.google.com/myactivity if you want to delete and disable a lot of google's shit on you.

I think the big problem here is just how awkward and out of the ordinary it is for people to be like

>hey, look at this video I made and posted on youtube!

It just doesn't feel right. Not like we're being marketed to or exploited (God forbid someone enjoy something on youtube and they click subscribe), just that it doesn't jive with the usual casual conversation style of imageboards. There's not a lot of circumstances where it comes up or where it can naturally be inserted into the flow of a discussion, and I'm not sure it's something we want to become normal either.

You just seem like someone who doesn't really care for the material just looking to shill your channel so you can get the E-Peen.

Personally I just hate how borked youtube's UI is, hooktube is a lightweight youtube which is generally faster (at least for me) and invidio already has the video as a webm directly off Google's servers. Ok anon. I'm an actual video editor with 13 years of experience that doesn't mean I'm good and I'll give you my tips or complains I see. I'll be writting them as soon as I notice them.

The first thing I've noticed with the weeb introduction is that you have a little issue with pacing and overusing transition effects. You made short pauses long and long pauses short. Watch a few more videos and take a good look how they do the pacing. Also, in that introduction you use the map of britain and some random gook/chink/nip or whatever. It might be a joke but it didn't go well because the visual punchline wasn't properly executed I think I recognize him as some random anime reviewer that is mildly amusing. I'm not pass 30 seconds and I already spent 5 minutes analizing. This is going to be painful.

Again, pacing. Fucking pacing. Also, if you are narrating you can't put the subject you mention WAY before you even say it's name. You have some little issue syncing your narration with the images.

Again, PACING! Seriously dude, if I was next to you I would hit you in the back of the head when you don't do the proper edition. Also, you get cheap in images where it counts. Man, don't fucking zoom up a barely seen sun, instead put some actual sun, an image or a fucking adventurer or anime character blinded by light if that was your intended purpose.

You are upsetting me. You are missing many opportunities in your narration, and if you are narrating and not acting you have to use LOTS of images. The guy gets a heart attack? edit the picture and cross his eyes and put some picture of a broken heart. Is a cliché? sure, but they work for a reason.

Once again and I'm tired to repeat. PACING! and what the fuck is that black pause? I'm going to slap you.

Again with the weird effects. The love triangle joke is fun, but you needed to work more in the edition after that. And again, there is no shame in not using effects and just putting a zoom in a fast cut.

You can't read the text jokes. A fast easter egg is only good if you can at least notice it.

I'm seriously going to slap you. STOP LEAVING BLACK CUTS OF NOTHINGNESS!

After the Rick and Morty picture once again I give you the same complain. You need more variety of images and something that actually represents the fuck you are actually talking about. Comedy can only work when even suttle references can be understood. Another image should have been used for your Weeb Shit joke.

Ok, I watched the rest without stop because you are making the same mistakes over and over and that all come from the same problem. The editing.

>Black cuts where you don't say anything. Probably sone empty spot after editing in Premiere.

>Overusing zoom effects and not using enouth pictures and infography to follow your narration.

>Texts on the bottom or the top of the screen where they can't even serve the purpose of a fast joke eastern egg.

>Pacing, pacing, PACING!

Overall the comedy is nice even in generic. You need to work on your narrated comedy more if you can't improve your visual comedy. My advice is to watch many more videos, especially the popular ones, and see WHY do they work. If I had your video file and Premiere on hand I could make a timeline of every problem, but I'm not going to bother for a random youtube video. My autism is big but my laziness is even bigger.

I'll give you a Gold Star because you made an attempt, but I guess this is one of your first videos because it looks you faced the biggest problem of video editing, and it is the fucking boring frustration of not finishing it after three or four days. Well, welcome to unemployed hell, like all other video editors.

Don't feel discouraged because of critizism, just try harder next time.

This gonna take a second because this is good criticism and I don't want to miss out.

>The first thing I've noticed with the weeb introduction is that you have a little issue with pacing and overusing transition effects. You made short pauses long and long pauses short. Watch a few more videos and take a good look how they do the pacing.

I'm not sure what this refers to.

Yeah, famous Youtube anime reviewer from England.

>Again, pacing. Fucking pacing. Also, if you are narrating you can't put the subject you mention WAY before you even say it's name. You have some little issue syncing your narration with the images.

This is in reference to the Lord of the Rings book?

>Again, PACING! Seriously dude, if I was next to you I would hit you in the back of the head when you don't do the proper edition. Also, you get cheap in images where it counts.

Finding images for some of these editions was harder than I imagined. At one point just to find a picture that only had AD&D and no AD&D 2nd Edition I had to get online and ask for one. No one answered though and I was left to use what I could find on my own. There is a surprising lack of images of ad&d back.

>Man, don't fucking zoom up a barely seen sun, instead put some actual sun, an image or a fucking adventurer or anime character blinded by light if that was your intended purpose.

Probably a better idea. I could have transitioned into a real sun or another useful image.

>You are upsetting me. You are missing many opportunities in your narration, and if you are narrating and not acting you have to use LOTS of images. The guy gets a heart attack? edit the picture and cross his eyes and put some picture of a broken heart. Is a cliché? sure, but they work for a reason.

I actually thought about doing this, but I didn't think anyone would care and convinced myself it wasn't a big deal. I'm actually surprised someone called me out on it.

>Once again and I'm tired to repeat. PACING! and what the fuck is that black pause? I'm going to slap you.

Depends. Which one? I usually use a black screen to try to portray "Okay, on to another topic. Clean slate." Is there a better way to do this?

>Again with the weird effects. The love triangle joke is fun, but you needed to work more in the edition after that. And again, there is no shame in not using effects and just putting a zoom in a fast cut.

I had a lot of jokes per edition but tons of them got cut for worrying that it would drag the video out too much. Sounds like I really just need to believe in myself a bit more in this department.

>You can't read the text jokes. A fast easter egg is only good if you can at least notice it.

Some of them seriously aren't jokes, but context to what I'm saying to make it more historically informative. This was my first video doing something mildly informative, so I was at a real loss on how to do that.

>After the Rick and Morty picture once again I give you the same complain. You need more variety of images and something that actually represents the fuck you are actually talking about. Comedy can only work when even suttle references can be understood. Another image should have been used for your Weeb Shit joke.

Yeah, looking back at it I HATE that I hold on that Rick and Morty picture for so long

Post too big, have to make it two.

I've gotten a few complaints on my narration, but I've also gotten a few people telling me it's fine and people are just being picky. I will agree my narrative comedy is lacking in this video, but that could be due to a lot of things.

>I'll give you a Gold Star because you made an attempt, but I guess this is one of your first videos because it looks you faced the biggest problem of video editing, and it is the fucking boring frustration of not finishing it after three or four days. Well, welcome to unemployed hell, like all other video editors.

Yeah it's my third video.

>Don't feel discouraged because of critizism, just try harder next time.

Appreciate it.

If you can't find images you'll have to produce them. Use photoshop to make the closest thing.

I have no issue with the narration even if generic because your voice is your voice and it is good enouth you don't sound weird, but if you want to make narrated videos you will need LOTS of images. If you can use the proper images your narration is fine.

I might sound very picky and assholeish about the edition, but I had teachers that failed projects for not even a 1% of the failures I found in the video. Just the black empty soundless spots of nothingness is enouth to fail and is some of the most common amateur mistakes.

There is a reason many video editors end working as graphic designers or in other graphic industries when there is no work in the video editing industry.

You better remember not to use tumblr in your file names.

I can see in the meta thread there isn't. Shame, I thought about create but I don't use reddit nor any other shitty social media nor forum because I'm fed up with them.

If you hate it, don't do things that make them come to you. If your wife wants to make her money baiting normalfags into watching her stream, she can, but there's no reason you should.

It can but something about Youtube's UI just makes my videocard turn up the heat and not stop. While both Hooktube and Invidio will maintain itself at a steady temperature, Hooktube especially doesn't convert the videos into webms beforehand so by all rights Youtube and Hooktube should be similar.

Youtube has a lot crappy bloat.

I just ran a test where I visited the front page of invidious in one tab and that of youtube in another, then checked the memory of each without actually engaging with either.

Invidious consumed 8 MB, Youtube consumed 40. For reference, this thread takes up just under 16. And that's without any videos running.

You either make something really good or act like you didnt make it. Also you remember to never use sites that are frowned upon here.
