Hello, fellow transhumanists. I'd like to invite you to join the Advancement Coalition Party over at >>>/sen/ - our party thread can be found here:

http://8ch.net/sen/res/10116.html

We need new members, as currently the party consists solely of myself and one other on-again, off-again member, and what better place to look for members than here, amongst likeminded people?

Active party members will be granted votes to participate. We currently have a pool of 47 votes to divide, so if you're interested, hurry on over.

Additionally, I will advertise this board from time to time, as I have good reasons to want to see it grow and flourish. I hope to see you there soon!

 No.140

>>139
So… is that board some kind of sandbox for people to play politics in?

 No.141

>>140

Apparently. Do what you want, but this board's general purpose is to discuss and advocate real-world solutions to real-world problems.

 No.142

>>140

Think of it as a simulator. People take positions as independent or party senators, propose and vote on bills, and discuss their personal leanings and goals. Bills passed affect the way the board operates and what "happens" in the /sen/ world.

I'm the ACP party leader. We are currently the only transhumanism-themed and apolitical party on the entire board. Personally, I see it as an interactive and occasionally enjoyable way to inform others of h+ and try to promote our ideologies and aims.

>>141

I hope this isn't an issue, I don't want to step on any toes. We at /sen/ may partake in roleplay, but at least some of us are quite serious about it and try to keep a fair amount of real-world situations and solutions in the mix, myself included.

I am not specifically thinking of doing Augmented reality but i think that could work too with this kind of display..

so long as one just lazily looks out equally out of both eyes it should all blend together..

 No.130

This doesnt have to be a monocle display. Get two and tape them together.

 No.132

Why the fuck would I want a binocular display?!!!! seriously if I was happy with that I could just by a cheap pair of video glasses..

for about the same price…

this is more down to me wanting something I can modify more easily

But if you prefer bonocular sure.. DX has a shitload of the suckers… just generally not very high resolution though.. typically 320x240

Deus Ex thread. You didn't ask for this but you're getting it anyway.

Did anyone else find Darrow's explanation in the final act to be kinda stupid? Sarif might have been kind of a prick but at least he legitimately wanted to further humanity's progression into something more than human.

From this?
Which parts in particular. I'll get back to you later to see if I can see what he meant. Don't just say "all of it". Pick out specific things.

>Sarif might have been kind of a prick

I don't see this. Sarif was a total bro and looked out for you the entire game. The only time he ever even got touchy is when he knew you might get upset at finding out the truth about who you are.

I mean, I guess his behavior in the first mission about the typhoon versus the hostages might be seen as abit questionable, but only the first time you play through the game. When you see it from his perspective and realize how deep the rabbit hole goes, it makes a bunch of sense.

Jensen says everything that needs to be said. Darrow is a jealous hypocrite, hiding behind fake righteousness.

Especially when he claims that now the illuminati won't be able to control people anymore - all he's done is make it slightly harder. They wrote the textbook on controlling naturals, why would taking away the vector of augmentation undo any of that? And furthermore, Jensen's very existence undermines the illuminati's ability to control people through their augs, and there's no way that Darrow doesn't know about Reed's research.

One of the most telling things is that Darrow talks about how humanity's 'purity' is what gives them a moral compass, the only thing that makes them unique. This is right after he decided that he had the authority to send the entirety of the augmented population into a manical, self-destructive killing frenzy. He has absolutely no moral ground to stand on whatsoever.

As a transhumanist who enjoyed DE:HR quite a bit but who tries to see other points of view, let me make a few points for you to consider.

First, Darrow says that he fears that other people, like the Illuminati, will attempt to make people into things that they do not wish to become. This is reflected in Sarif giving Jensen "more augs then he needed", as people tell you in the story (forget who).

Piggybacking on that, in the various side missions and dialogue, it's shown that to work in sectors as un-augged where others are augged (if I recall, that one woman who got augs from Tong worked in brokering), then they'll fall behind and can't compete in the market. Additionally, other dialogues have people stating that their bosses demand them to be augmented if they wish to continue working there.

One of the main reasons I think the creators chose Sarif to be the head of a corporation was to bring in some of the social worries about the interplay of capitalism and augmentation, and the possible need to augment oneself to stay viable in the job market. The whole "rich become richer because they can afford the augs and the poor become poorer because they can't", and the whole "augs will outpace non-augs and eventually leave non-augs no choice but to turn unless they want to behind" arguments come into play here as well.

All of those things, however, rely on the belief that society would always take the turn for the worst in the application of augmented humans. It also heavily relies on Neuropozyne as the main issues with any of the augs and how the people see it. The rejection possibility, the dependence, the cost, etc.. Augs in our world wouldn't necessarily have the same kind of thing to have issues with.

Additionally, while I'm not saying by any means that the Illuminati-controlled police in the game were justified for keeping that body from Sarif, his willingness to skirt the law to get the body shows how powerful men can use augmented people as tools in other, less justified cases. Chaotic Good/Neutral are pretty good alignments, but of course people will always make the fear arguments on these things. All the possibility of Chaotic Evil does is tell people to be on the watch, not to completely say no to the augs, which are not inherently evil like those who might try and use them.

I don't think anyone would argue with Post too long. Click here to view the full text.

Will the pussies of the future have birth control built in?

This is the most important question that we as transhumanists can answer.

 No.26

The pussies of the future will not be able to birth children for a very long time, anon.

Are you sure you want a detachable dick? What happens if you lose it? Do you order a new one from Amazon or do you go to the Apple store to get an extra-small one?
