Ugly but functional raspberry pi Heads up display…

There is already a raspberry pi inteligent assistant if you can put up with something python based… personally i want to use mono and speech recognition to code my own…

But i am a C# programmer so i want it running stuff i am familiar with..

c7ad35 No.43

Also worth mentioning i am looking at google cardboard as a alternative method of doing a heas up monocular display…

The lenses should work well

Here is that intelligent assistant..

Personally i am kinda hopefull that Cortana will become platform independent… as she uses bing this would mean Microsoft could increase bing searches..

Also who does not love Cortana :p

Wearable tech is currently the best transhumanist option it seems. The main concern is that batteries are very susceptible to overheating and methods of producing energy on the go can be bulky. However, I've lately discovered the wonderful stirling engine. Stirling engines produce energy by comparing air temperature like with say your body heat and the outside air. Stirling engines are really easy to scale down micro size, so I think that with little stirling engines integrated into every circuitboard, tech clothes can become a reality.

dont be absurd!

just get a cheap power pack….
http://www.dx.com/p/sunwalk-outdoor-camping-0-8w-5v-10000mah-solar-powered-power-bank-w-4-mode-led-black-369096#.VKcvtnvAjPM

that one should work just fine and not mucking with unreliable tech…

Ideally I would have 2 packs and some thing to allow me to swap them without a shut down… but oh well..

I am not 100% sure the mA/h value on that thing is accurate… but it should be reasonably over kill from my own experience.. also it gives 2 usb power port options which is very useful…

mucking about with Stirling engines is not going to do any good… they are more a gimmick then anything else..

c7ad35 No.78

also Stirling engine tend to be shitty about speed control…

anyway that basically all you need to make a wearable computer except the software now go forth and become cyborgs!

this is the current end result of serveral years of playing around with various forms of hardware looking for an affordable option…

If you want a mouse as well for some reason then you can get a myestro 3d finger mouse
http://www.myestro.de/

c7ad35 No.85

also if you want a neural interface on top of everything else i belive emotiv where working on a blue tooth variant you could get working with a bluetooth dongle..

you also have the GPIO (general purpose Input Output) port on the raspberry pi you can use to install additional hardware..

Maybe a raspberry pi camera for example those come with IR which can give you a crude form of night vision if you add some IR LEDs.

How do you plan on using that as a HUD? The display isn't transparent. Or can it be made that way by moving the panel on the back?

c7ad35 No.128

It's more on a monocle display then a HUD..

But the effect is the same sort of..

you end up seeing the text over lay over what you see on the other eye unless you focus on one eye specifically.

and anyway my eyes aren't super well aligned not visibly off so I look like Derpy or anything lol… but I cant actually get any 3d effect out of those stupid glasses at the cinema…

So i only sacrifice range of view somewhat…

my brain compensates for the lack of 3d perspective by using angles of objects to calculate depths instead..

end result I really hate 3d in cinemas and don't mind using 1 eye for a display.

Also since its fully covered that means I don't have to worry about the display not being bright enough in daylight or something like that..

c7ad35 No.129

I am not specifically thinking of doing Augmented reality but i think that could work too with this kind of display..

so long as one just lazily looks out equally out of both eyes it should all blend together..

58ae33 No.130

This doesnt have to be a monocle display. Get two and tape them together.

c7ad35 No.132

Why the fuck would I want a binocular display?!!!! seriously if I was happy with that I could just by a cheap pair of video glasses..

for about the same price…

this is more down to me wanting something I can modify more easily

But if you prefer bonocular sure.. DX has a shitload of the suckers… just generally not very high resolution though.. typically 320x240

>and anyway my eyes aren't super well aligned not visibly off so I look like Derpy or anything lol

c7ad35 No.136

for the record I am in no way visibly Derpyish…

I just get the inability to really enjoy cinema 3d and non of the Derpy cuteness :p
