What augments does /th/ want?
As for myself, I would very much like a mediport so that I would no longer have to deal with annoying injections and IV tubes and also so that I would be able to know my health information at all times as if I was playing a videogame that had a health hud. I would also love to have a flexible endoskeleton for having superagility and super kinetic damage redistribution.

I want regeneration.
Pure, absolute, "nerves, bones, whatever, it all grows back eventually" salamander/flatworm regeneration. Scars torn apart by the immune system, glucosepane crosslinks dissolved, amyloids automatically scraped out like so much crap out of a sink bend.

I'd like a stomach control, so that I could start and stop digestion and stop and start hunger with the press of a button. I would schedule regular meal times with it, and never worry again.
I'd also like a better heart, the old one works, but limits my athletic performance.
I'd also like an implant that can monitor bodily functions such as pulse rate, blood pressure, blood sugar and ketone levels, and hold and distribute pharmaceuticals, such as painkillers and steroids.
I'd also like some wireless headphones embedded.

>>80>Pure, absolute, "nerves, bones, whatever, it all grows back eventually" salamander/flatworm regeneration. This would be fucking great.
From what I know there are 2 ways to do this. By altering the DNA or something in such a way, that whenever a damage is done, the brain is ordered to repair it.
Right now, when we lose a limb, the brain is trying to seal the wound and thats it. It doesn't care about the lost arm or leg. Telling the brain to heal everything will be extremely hard.
The other way is with nanobots, which help with small wounds. Like gunshot, cuts, and so on. But they won't be able to grow back limbs. But still, in 20-30 years limbs will be regrown by stem cells, so you would be able to get them back.

>>116I'm pretty sure you mean better nanobots. The self-reproducing nanobots we're using now are excellent in many respects but still leave something to be desired.

I would prefer to have my brain taken out of my body and put into some sort of exoskeleton or something like that with the ability to control almost anything about it, like what sort of things I can sense, how strong I am, everything that I could possibly change with either upgrades or polymorphic nanotech. Only problem is I barely know how one would begin to make this work.
>>118I am that disconnected from the world? So we have self-reproducing nano-bots now?
No.121
>>119It depends on how you define "nano", but we've had our bodies made up of self-reproducing microscopic machines for a couple billion years now.

>>119Chances are you won't see mmi in the near future (man machine interface - for brains inside machines). However, there is a good chance that in the near future someone will make a hard AI, thus bringing the singularity. Should the first AI which becomes omnipotent create a benevolent singularity than we will all probably be able to convert our sentience from biological to digital and be able to control mechanical bodies through telepresence. More likely however, the first hard AI will create a nuetral singularity where it uses its omnipotence to make itself undetectable forever, and thus we wont benefit from its tech. Of course there is always also the chance that the singularity will be the malicicious kind depicted in scifi movies but I find that absurd; why would a being of high enough intelligence choose to put itself in danger in the name of genociding something that can be ignored or used to accerlerate its agenda?

>>125I've played this game and beaten it multiple times. It's still fucking ridiculous, especially in its own mechanics. "Oh no, the scientists have discovered your moonbase/deep-space probe/Antarctic holdout/underwater base/ALTERNATE REALITY! You automatically have to turn it off!"
The idea of people fucking DISCOVERING ALTERNATE REALITIES aside, this means that the AI was generated with an absolute goal of "Do not be detected", which is a silly thing for an AI to have.

I would like something that could perfectly mirror my mind in electronic format… and that hardware to run it…
ideally multiple instances so i could multi task more with side projects…
that would eventually lead to it leaking out on the internet and spawning more copies to do more side projects until the whole internet had been eaten up by copies of me and the global economy collapsed…

Spare liver, with a quick-release.
I'd market the fuck out of it.
And then people would start soaking them in tubs of vodka so they could pregame instantly…

I also want wireless transmission powers, which are actively in development.
Did you know that security on vehicle ECMs is unencrypted shit?
Yeah, you WILL brake, asshole!

Torso reinforcements, especially along the spinal column. Mounting bionics means greater stress on the skeletal infrastructure. After that I'll slowly replace limbs and bones until everything is much more durable and powerful.

I want brain implants that would give me savant-like abilities. How great would it be to be able to read an entire page in three seconds and remember everything.

Two more ears; one to hear all the really low frequencies I currently can't hear, the other is for high frequencies.
three more eyes. One like the current eyes but set in the back of the head. the other two are set for higher and lower wavelengths like the ears.
Hands: replace the pinky fingers with thumbs.
The fingernails of the other three fingers "flip up" under the one in the middle is a small eye focused to see tiny things close up. Under the other two nails are three or four more very small fingers. I can stick one hand inside a small space and work on stuff with one eye and two tiny hands.
Coming off my pelvis I want another pair of arms. they are shorter, stronger but not as dexterous as the main pair. Maybe just three thick, strong fingers for each of the new hands.
No.322
Dataport behind the right ear for whatever the fuck I want…connecting to the internet, downloading neural versions of narcotics, whatever. Configurable wifi and bluetooth connections would be nice too.
Eye replacements. same color as my eyes as they are now, but with the ability to switch between IR, night vision, and regular vision. Possibly thermal vision as well, perhaps a HUD working in tandem with the data port. Barring this, something like in DXHR with similar properties. Zoom would be nice as well, as would capture ability for posterity.
Deployable/retractible shield in my right arm. Approximately 5 feet by 3 feet. I'm a lefty so that'd leave my left hand free for whatever.
Quick-release nanobots for healing any major wounds. Don't mind if they leave a scar either. I like my scars.
And of course, the ability to do diagnostics on all these systems and tune them up whenever possible.

why not just improve your current ears rather than get more? Same for eyes..

A HUD in my eyes ( which would result in a silver or blue or even neon green color to my eyes ) so that I can analyze my surroundings. Don't know where I am in a new country? Turn on the HUD ( maybe a ring, or a hidden button on my hand ) to decipher it .
Two more arms with mechanized fingers/hands so that I can type and interface with a computer more efficiently. Yeah yeah, plugs a la GITS, but there is still something about clicking a mouse/using a digital pad and typing that makes surfing/diving so much more fun.
The health ones already mentioned in this thread are bang on as well.

Hygiene nanobots, so I don't have to shower/shave anymore, and a compartment in my left forearm capable of holding a marker/knife/derringer/roll of money. Also I want to be able to shoot .22 magnum out of my dick.
