Nope, it's a ghost town. It's just me, the BO, that responds to posts here. There's few Touhou players on 8chan. I made this board back in 2015 to make a Touhou playing community on 8chan. It didn't work out. There's a small community of players that play Touhou netplay games on #2hu8ch on Rizon. That's the closest you'll see to a Touhou gameplay community here.



It's a shame really. Good quality Touhou gameplay communities are hard to find on imageboards. Touhou gameplay threads on /jp/ are very hit or miss and full of trolls and people who kinda actually suck at Touhou Dunning Krugering really hard and giving awful advice. I can't really speak to the quality of /2hug/ on /vg/ since I've never really frequented that place but it seems to be off-topic much of the time.

When farming, get Rinnosuke+Nazrin+Komachi on backrows until 8 of your characters are down. Then put them in frontrow to get highly boosted consecutive battle bonuses (Lots of items and money).

Gameplay threads on /v/ are pretty dead anyway. I think people should come here to discuss about primary topics instead of spreading all around 8chan.

They don't have much staying power for advanced players. The games are generous with resources and the gameplay mechanics are based largely on expending them. It's more beneficial to bomb and miss than to survive. The player can bomb through a pattern while still getting a high score and extra resources. This leads to runs that consist mostly of skipping patterns. That's the optimal way to play unless conditions are applied. The older games don't reward burning resources to that extent. They have milking and intentional misses but they mostly reward the player with score in exchange for resources rather than being a primary part of the gameplay.

Shion really looks like a recoloured mokou with all those talismans on her clothes and the whole 'fire-wielding hobo' stick.

ZUN likes taking designs from Asian mythology and reworking them into Touhou girls. There's plenty to work with.

The kanji is 泰西. Occident. It's a FOSS Touhou Clone. Features Marisa and Youmu as playable characters.




The art looks like deliberate shitposting. It's still fun though. Haven't played enough to rate it against other touhou games.

The Lunatic seems about the same in difficulty as an average Touhou game. I found a bug on Wriggle's Bug Sign Firefly Storm. The bullets disappear when the player is unfocused. This only seems to affect certain hardware. The game lags when there's a lot of bullets on the screen. I had to beat the game with the backgrounds turned off. That made the game playable but it still stuttered on patterns with a lot of bullets. The rendering system is going to be rewritten so hopefully these problems will be fixed.

Last year's decrease isn't very notable, even though it's steadily declining. It's still got a bunch of years to go before it goes out in a whimper



It would take minimal effort to update the archive, the replay formats are almost identical, but it's abandoned. This skews the statistics and we can't get a good picture of Touhou's real popularity. The site has always had problems. It's SQL injectable, has XSS, there's broken pages like 877, and it's unmaintained. Eventually it's going to go down and get replaced by another archive.

Len'en is a fantasy universe inspired by Touhou. It has 4 danmaku games. I've been playing the latest one, BPoHC.

It has some unique mechanics. Players can determine the path they take in a stage with their horizontal position on the screen. Using this mechanic, the player can choose which boss they face at the end of the stage. Stage sections(cells) sometimes have random events, such as clouded vision. There's two types of bombs. The regular bomb(focused x) and the flash bomb(unfocused x). Regular bombs work conventionally but flash bombs are refilled by grazing, only one can be stored at a time, are fairly weak, and don't cancel the bonus of a boss spell. Flash bombs can be replaced with armor mode. Shot types in the game are made up of 3 characters. The main, sub, and support. Characters can be upgraded using sake collected during gameplay.

No clue, I've never seen that before. There's a few guides on the Internet for configuring Anex, so you should try those. Here's the settings I use: https://my.mixtape.moe/iwhbvl.reg. If you use this, you'll have to change your paths. Funny how the practice of using spritesheets hasn't changed since that time.


Figured it out. I had "force graph mode" checked.

So TH9 is apparently prone to crashing. In my case it crashes on close. In all other ways the game seems to work fine, but apparently part of the closing sequence is saving key configs, so annoyingly I have to remap my gamepad every launch, which is annoying.

Anyone familiar with the various bugs/compatibility issues TH9 has? I've tried running in compatibility mode, in Jap locale, as administrator and all of the above at once.



Have you tried reinstalling the game? Check log.txt.

Mobile platforms are not suitable for Touhou. They are limited compared to a PC and work better for passive games. It would be a regression.


It would be cool.


If it could use the tilting sensor, like making bullets flow to either side of the screen that could be cool. Then again, you can never make as great an input system as the keyboard is for a shooter. Another but lesser problem is the screen size. As a result, the game would be less technical (not necessarily easier). The real problem is that no-one wants to miss their stop, so it can't be as intensive as the real games. That would be the biggest drawback.


Wouldn't mind seeing some 2hu on my 3ds. Never ever.

I'm hardly interested. It's disappointing that they made a PS4 exclusive version of ULiL.

I want to show you Touhou Doom. It's not only one of my favorite Doom mods but one of my most favorite games of all time. I loved it and I couldn't help but share it.

It has a wide selection of difficulties and is decently challenging.

It mixes the Touhou and Doom universes quite nicely. You will see plenty of elements from both.

The game is quite lengthy and usually follows a stage/boss layout like in Touhou.

This means that you will see gimmicks that correspond to what the characters do in the games.

There's a lot of characters and you get to fight many of your favorite 2hus.

The enemy patterns are based on danmaku. It makes you feel like you are playing Touhou as an FPS.

It has lots of weapons, original levels, great music, and some creative gameplay. Even some horror elements.

One flaw is that the "survival" stages can get a bit too long. Although that might depend on the difficulty.

I also fell across 2 bugs. One was that Parsee became invincible and prevented the game from continuing and another was that some enemies were stuck in the spawning room on a survival map, also preventing the game from continuing. I spent hours trying to find them before just killing them with cheats.

For those that are new to Doom, you have to open up CMD and provide the pk3 file as an argument to the Doom executable.

Either ZDoom or GZDoom are recommended.

Hopefully it will work next time. The better question is what settings to put/need. I'm finding that "spawn on death" kind of takes away the fun of death, but since bosses get an arena, its gonna need to be mandatory.

You can't pick the custom weapons to start with, and there is no ammo for the regular weapons.

Unlimited ammo?



Don't runs from start to finish is probably the best solution.

Other mods on top of it?
