I think the whole "forced laughter" thing is a major part of being a tickling fetishist. We basically enjoy the control we have over other people, forcing them to do something even if they don't want to, and making them look happy. At least for me, it's what i search in a picture/video. You mean toe caps? Yeah, they're a thing - mostly for gymnastics but also for some types of dancing. They protect the toes and ball (especially from burns from spinning) while allowing the foot to move more than it could with shoes.
Pic related, it'd be pretty hard to pull this type of pose off with footwear that covers all of the sole without having it come off at the heel.
