So, as you all may or may not know, I cannot draw for shit. Alas I have the all too common affliction of my hands being unable to do what my brain wants them to do (at least when it comes to art).
In that regard, 3D programs like Poser, DAZ Studio, and (especially) Second Life have been nothing short of a godsend, as now I can use them to create my own art.
I mention this to give you some background of where I come from when I ask this:
Is 2D art superior to 3D art? Can the latter ever surpass it?
Here's a quick list of the benefits of each medium that I've whipped up:
2D:
-Literally anything can be drawn
-Can look anywhere from stylized to realistic
-Victims can be much more expressive
-Tickle scenarios much more innovative
-Generally seen as the "de facto" art style
-Base requirements: pencils and paper.
3D:
-Accessible to anyone who can't draw
-Can look more realistic
-Most of the work is just posing models/props
-Can be relatively cheap to commission (if original models do not need to be created)
-Program like SL can make the process interactive (e.g roleplaying during shoots).
What do you all think? Do you prefer 2D to 3D? If so, why?
