You are right, the main plotwtist of the original game, "Saya no Uta" is that the girl is actually a henious monster.
Don't mark my word on this but when I first played the game I investigated and read somewhere that she is based in one of Lovecraft's monster, a Shoggoth to be more precise (pic related).
Anyway, since I enjoyed the VN and the character (as a human) is cute, I didn't mind doing this as a prize for a pal who won a contest.
