Here's the thing with Pabuluz; he's available to you, but he won't even talk with me. Won't respond to any skype message I send. I try to have a dialogue with the guy, but it's absolutely impossible, especially given the fact that last time we 'talked', he got extremely upset because I'd asked about a status on a piece he said he'd have done that week, no problem. He said something was going on with his wife. Didn't say what, but I have no reason not to believe him. I just wanted to know when he would start, and to let him know that I've given him a long leash in the past compared to other artists I've worked with, because I'm a fan of his dating back, and because I know he's got family and personal issues.
He kinda flipped at this and hasn't spoken to me since. Mind you, I've tried. I've even said I'd front him the full payment for what I wanted worked on. I wouldn't do these things with ANY other artist. Well, Bandito, but that's because he's God Tier in my book. Still, nothing. I'm to the point where the only thing that might get five sentences out of him is if I front cash to him.
I don't get it. No other artist I've worked with have I had issues like this. Maybe I'll have dust ups when it's been a long time. I've had that with Polarbearnsfw in the past. I showed another artist the chat log and they didnt see anything wrong. So either artists hate dealing with me and won't tell me (likely) or something else is going on.
Again, I love Pab's work. He's in my tip tier, and when he's on, he's actually one of the absolute best. His characters always seem so soft, plush, that you just want to sink your fingers into them, and his facials are really great and he's good with explicit material and was from the beginning. I also really like Tiff and Bex, to the point where I've commissioned other characters to draw them. That Fry meme? That's me. Every time. Take my money. Give me some raunchy delicious Bex and Tiff ticklegasm work, I'll pay.
But here's the thing. The delays are absolutely brutal. Absolutely. Brutal. I spent over a year with money out to him over the Blind Date comic commission, and that was a personal nightmare, especially since my money situation was so in Flux at the point. Getting spartan updates every few months and my adding pages to things didn't help it at all. I know he's back loaded with other large scale comics too, and who knows about that. He comes and goes. And maybe he communicates better with others than me, but if he doesn't, well, fuck.
He's one of these guys that, well, if he had shorter turnarounds and was more consistent with releases, and was a little more forward in talking with folk, he'd be able to make a lot more money and would have a lot more fans.
