That is always an option(well, if ONLY she hadn't chickened out that one time), but I'd like to think that Tomoko isn't the type to feel a sense of fulfillment from being "just" a hostess and a fuckdoll, just as she probably would not be content living an empty, unfulfilled life of a hikki.
I see her struggles in the story as her being on a journey to find her purpose and calling in life, questioning society, and what can she do to benefit it, or at least make it aware of outcasts like her(the one time she wanted to make a school club was an incredibly earnest desire on her part). It's also true that on the other hand she seeks something that has that air of coolness and iconic image, like being a merc or a biker. Tomoko doesn't want to be someone boring.
My personal kink is that she becomes a transgressive artist or writer, often indulging in bohemian lifestyles and world-traveling, but somehow is a loving, caring, and wise person you'd love to meet and befriend. Sadly, the manga doesn't show her being artsy all that much, which I think is surprising since Tomoko lives through the pain, the introspection, and the angst to make her a poignant artist or intellectual.
