I'm not going to put you on this map unless /tomoko/ is in the top 196

Mostly, though the process works likes this

First, countries that have the boards in the name get chosen, such as /deutsch/ or /ukgirls/.

Then, the other boards are assigned countries if they make sense. So, /starwars/ gets Tunisia because that is where Tatooine is. And /a/ gets Japan because that's where anime is. Furthermore, boards that fit a particular theme, such as anime, tend to get grouped together. You'll notice that there's a lot of sluts around the black sea area and eastern/south-eastern europe more generally. This is an example of this.

After sorting through the above, there are generally some very large boards that don't seem to have a definite fit, such as /v/. Those are the ones that get assigned mostly randomly (hence why /v/ is in madacasgar). There are also random boards that aren't really associated with anything, such as /tulpa/. I guess a link could be made between its country (Morrocco) and tulpas (maybe hashish or some middle eastern drug thing) but the link is mostly tenuous for this type of board.

So, where will /tomoko/ go? Assuming that it does get in the top 196, somewhere in Asia.
