DeI's infantry combat is utter shit

None of the games do guns right except medieval 2. Its irritating.

I was wondering if in Napoleon Total War, in the Napoleon Campaign in Europe if I can keep playing even after the time limit runs out. In the Italian campaign I couldn't keep playing.

When I started as Shimazu I first captured Kyushu and turned it into my economic facilities center. I built some fleet to defend the shores that are distant to mainland, and set some armies to be ready in shores closer to the mainland. I kept peace with rest of the Japan so I could focus on expanding economy. When I was making big cash a turn I just formed few decent armies and marched to Kioto through mainland taking everything that was on my way. When Japan realised what's coming to get them it was too late.

Perhaps you're playing that clan that has different religion from the majority of clans (Ikko Ikki). If you find it too hard, just switch to some shinto-buddhist country and don't convert to christianity.

If you're playing any of the Kyushu clans or Chosokabe, navy is pretty important.

You're close to a shitton of trade ports there and AI has a habit of spawning full stack fleets out of nowhere to harass you.

If you can secure those you'll be shoveling in loads e mone from trade and resources needed for upgrades during Realm Divide.

On your west take Sofia asap and on your right head south and take out the fortress south of Nicea, then the island underneath it. THEN keep going south and take Alexandria, Cairo, Gaza & Dongola from Egypt, they can't stop you at this stage. The get your merchants out on the spices & ivory on the fertile crescent and you'll be rolling in cash to fuck over anyone who attacks you, and Egypt will be about to get royally fucked by the crusades and the Mongols. The Venetians are now pretty easy to finish off. When you take Venice give it to Milan or France (whichever is weaker) as they'll keep the other in check and don't expand east. Fortify the city to the east of Venice because Hungary and the HRE come for it a lot, Sofia and Gaza as well.

Now you should really be sitting pretty, you can wait around for the Mongols to attack and a lot will depend on what they do, worst case senario they head for Constantinople, in which case push everything you have against, build the city for a seige and try and cut down there numbers by holding them at bridges and using ambushes.
Assuming you survive, or they don't bother you, you can now just steamroller over Antolia and the middle east, but hold just your own in the west until you done it. Then it's time to take Italy, by now you should be almost unstoppable, take out the weak factions first depending on who owns what, but pretty much all of them are going to be ready to attack you now anyway. If you take all off the Italian peninsuala, corsica, sardinia , Tunisia & the settlement to it's east on Africa and those two castles that are in or around the alps you should have finished the game.

avoid them would be a better idea.

taking several cities on the eastern side is a bad idea. you can beat the turks easily is sieges since it takes cav archers out of the way. but if you have many cities you will need many armies to hold each, if you try to rescue a city with an external army then they regain the use of thier cav archers.

if you can take venice , give it to the french,the idea is to make sure you are not going to be attacked by the milan,it will drag them into a war with france and give you alot of time till you have to deal with them.

hungry is a bitch, be prepared to fight her.

if you have not yet taken the middle east the mongels may come through the north and attack russia, either way , not your problem.

once you are stable expand west into europe.

do not be in the middle east when the timurids come in.

Well you don't get to play as almost any boss in other games either. The concept I found cool was not tied to context of what CA did, but I don't quite get why it's so important for many players to play as Atilla. It's not like they're ever going to be as good as him in tactics.
