Actually, one of the first questions my doctor asked me was if I thought I would still want to be a girl if I had a girlfriend. I honestly couldn't grasp how having a girlfriend would fix anything. Your theory would certainly explain his question, though.

The autogynephile thingy is pretty much junk science though. I'm not saying there's nobody who gets turned on by the thought of being female but there are plenty of other explanations for it, yet scientists who support the theory very specifically pick explanations to reinterpret the data to make it match the theory.

That said, autogynephiles are said to typically be alpha males, have married and have had children, so it might not really be relevant.

You see some number of species of Goby fish have a biological mechanism for inducing a sex change .Most sex changes in gobies are from female to male (protogyny) rather than male to female (protandry). Female-to-male changes are observed not only in gobies but also in wrasses, damselfishes, and sea basses.Female-to-male change usually occurs because the resident male of the group is dead. If there is no male in the group, reproduction will be impossible. Therefore, the dominant female turns into male, allowing mating to happen. Male-to-female change occurs when the females have preference for specific features in males. For example, female gobies prefer large males, and a few large males mate with multiple females, whereas small males lose their chance to mate. Small males either choose to become sneakers (kleptogamy) or choose to transform into females because all females technically have high mating opportunities. By turning into females, males can ensure that they produce many descendants.
