Fat accumulates around the stomach due to cortisol and insulin.
Cortisol is usually due to stress, and that is such a complex issue it is too much to cover here. Make sure you're getting enough sleep, find time to smile and be happy, and do whatever you can for yourself to be in a good space.
Insulin is due to sweet and starchy foods. Look to get more of your calories from fat and less from carbohydrates. Reduce grains and potatoes, eat more fruits, vegetables, and meats.
Exercise only does so much when it comes to weight, dietary changes go a lot further overall. There are some physical exercises like planks that are good for toning the stomach muscles.
