I've been working on a little surprise for you guys the past couple of days. It's almost done, just gotta work out some little details.
No.12506
I'd like to thank the guys who made the last two threads for doing it for me.
>>12502Seeing as how Kenny's a down south, white skinned, redneck motherfucker, I assumed he listened to country music.

I just think it would've been interesting if Nick got so drunk that he stopped caring that Clem was underage and tried to rape her. I wonder how Clem would've handled it. If she would've knew what he was trying to do, or if she would've just thought that he was trying to kill her.

I lost it. Melissa was so good in S1. I could hear Clementine's pain in her voice during that line so strongly and I just let the tears flow. Clementine, a little 9 year old girl, is telling Lee, a 37 year old man, that he can put his weight on her if it would help him. Jesus…I'm getting a little misty eyed.
Unironically bravo, Telltale.
I'm not saying Melissa's S2 Clem voice was terrible, just that there were moments when she sounded to old, or not at all like Clem.

>>12671They set up a really great plot with him where you were wondering if he was going to be a real liability (being allowed to compare him to Ben in episode 2, though I don't think of Ben as a liability but that's an entirely different discussion) or if he was going to pull through. If they hadn't killed off Pete we could have seen more of the "hard love" dynamic with them, and I cannot believe we didn't get to find out more about his and Luke's life before. At least with Luke we got a tiny bit in episode 5, but Nick is seriously the thing I am most disappointed about for this season. We should have just kept the cabin group without bringing in and then killing off new people every damn episode.

At least 2 of the cabin members should have survived. We should only have had them (with the exception of someone coming in later a la Christa and Omid) for most of the game, with Carver and his troupe being the main antagonists and then having Bonnie be a determinant member depending on if you spare her or not when she comes crawling back.

Another one was after crossing the bridge with Luke, but even then the game won't LET you talk to most of the group, and then you get rushed into the shack so you can get peaches for "Rebecca" (we all know who really was eating them). The only positive for that one is getting a sweet little scene with Nick but it's pretty short unless you left with Pete and took his watch.

I wonder how they're going to handle the multiple endings of S2? With TTG's track record, I think it's safe to assume Clem and AJ will be the only ones alive by Ep2, despite what ending you chose.
No.12780
>>12779>Clem and AJ will be the only ones alive by Ep2That seems likely, but what I want to know is how they'll address the completely different locations you end up in. Howe's and Wellington are Clem knows how far away from each other, and we don't even know where the Alone ending even is.
No.12781
>>12777Yeah, another character like Chuck would be nice. I'd also like to see another character like Pete, since he got killed immediately.
>>12779I used to think that Kenny/Jane will be dead by episode 1, but recently I've come up with something that I think will be more likely. Kenny will ether already be dead, or die in a non-heroic way 5 minutes into episode 1. Jane will be determinant but survive the entire season if you choose to keep her alive. It makes since for them to do this because most people got a Jane ending, so they're going to appeal to the majority.

every character.
>>12782Yeah, probably. It seems like a cop-out, but really I just think TTG wrote themselves into a corner with S2. A timeskip is the only reasonable alternative to having an episode or more dedicated to dealing with the location difference.
No.12785
>>12780I've gotten the impression multiple endings were quickly scrapped together, before idea being going with an one true ending which was the Wellington one. Maybe even the idea of Clem reaching Wellington anyway either with Jane or alone, but that would mean your choices wouldn't mean shit. So they made three different endings in three different places to avoid that.
Just compare the quality of the three endings. In the first one, beautifully put enviroment with a built safehaven together from scratch. Second using pre-existing resources, you can see how quality declines, even using rehashed models as the shitty family. Third, Clem walks on a flat grass field through a copypasted horde. Just pure shit.

>>12785I forget where I read it, but the idea for multiple endings was there from the beginning, when Vanaman was briefly S2's project leader. Reason being since Clementine was a child she should be more free to choose her own path to adulthood or something like that. I'm paraphrasing.
Not to say the actual endings themselves weren't scrapped together, but that was the plan early on. I do wonder what they originally were supposed to look like since S2 went through so many rewrites and revisions since then.
No.12789
>>12788I really can't wrap my head around why there were so many rewrites. It seems pretty obvious that rewrites almost always hurt the narrative since they're much less thought out than the original script. Were they afraid of leaks or something?
No.12790
>>12789My personal opinion is that alot of people correctly guessed what would happen in future episodes, thus they were rewritten to surprise people. Although leaks did happen.
No.12791
>>12790>people correctly guessed what would happen in future episodesWith enough people randomly guessing, someone's gonna be right eventually. Even then, predictability isn't necessarily bad. S1 was pretty predictable, but as they say, it was the journey and not the destination that made it so good.
No.12792
>>12791Yeah, Telltale should just stick to whatever they have planned, doing only minor rewrites if absolutely necessary. I really hope Borderlands doesn't suffer from being rewritten.
No.12793
>>12792It's a damn shame TTG has zero chance of hearing our input. All they'll ever hear is gleaming reviews and fanboyism in their forums while we spend all day discussing their games and actually come up with useful, constructive criticism that would greatly improve their games.
No.12794
>>12789It's simple: whenever the audience didn't react to certain elements in the original script like the writers thought they would, they shifted goal posts.
Take Luke for example. He was originally written to be a universally loved character, a friendly, competent partner for Clementine, and, presumably, someone many players would choose over Kenny. When his reception from players ranged mostly from lukewarm to outright dislike the writers realized they couldn't use his character like they originally intended to and so his role and characterization changed to whatever seemed convenient at the time. Hence, why in one episode he's the voice of reason, in another he's a fuck up, or he's opposite side in a rivalry that threatens to tear the group apart, and later he's the glue holding the group together.
The episodic nature of the game made it convenient to "tailor the story", or rewrite the script, to how the players behaved, even when it didn't make a lot of sense to.
No.12795
>>12794Seems awfully short-sighted. Even in the TWD show, there's plenty of characters like Hershel that fans used to hate, but the writers (mostly) stuck to their guns and got the payoff they were hoping for. Fandom should never influence your creative vision.
