>>17215Holy shit, that actually looks pretty nice. Do you think you can post a version of that screenshot that doesn't have the mouse on her face?
No.17217
>>17215Here's my somewhat educated guess. Environment lighting is usually calculated at one point on a model and "applied" to every vertex. This point is usually the origin, so if this origin happens to be somewhere light doesn't strike it, the entire model appears dark.
Point light sources like that lighter don't use this method; they calculate lighting on every vertex or fragment.

The Kenny endings are all great and invoke general emotions, while the Jane endings are lukewarm at very best. It's everything in between that was shit. The weak cast, the inconsistent characterization, the character subplots that went absolutely nowhere, etc.

This sets a bad prescience for season 3, but if they go back to that and say "Oh, yeah that never happened", then I'll see it as acknowledgement that they fucked up, and will give the characters, or at least Clementine, proper characterization in season 3.

>>17285>>17286.Hack//G.U., quite possibly the best JRPG series I have ever played. The amount of content and attention to detail is downright staggering. It's always easy to see when the developers really cared about what they were making, and that's obviously the case with this game. The PS2 was full of hidden gems like this, but it's a real shame that a game this well made didn't become more popular.
It'll probably take me over a month to fully complete all three games and the bonus content they have.
Also, why can't we upload multiple images at once here? I wanted to post the cover art to all three games.

They're the only game company right now that's completely focused on making story-heavy, "choice-based" adventure games to the point of openly owning the genre. Having another company successfully compete with them in that market with products of a similar or better quality would force them to step up their game.
>>17224They can redeem themselves by getting keeping Breckon off the S3 team and hiring better writers. Whatever story they come up for that season, it has to be better and more coherent than S2 and handle choices similarly to how S1 did.

>>17364Really weird, but bear with me:
I was a Don living with Clem down in Mexico. We lived in a big hacienda, surrounded by beautiful views of the Mexican landscape. No words were spoken in my dream, but Clem was obviously a daughter figure and it was just us and our servants living there. Clem had a dress and hairstyle very similar to pic related. The dream was like several scenes of everyday life, including eating dinner on the patio whilst watching the sunset, taking walks through the gardens, etc.
It was a very pleasant dream and I'll admit I was pretty sad to wake up.

Being nice to Bonnie makes the difference between her wanting to shoot you and her being terrified when you're shot, for example.

Just know that you're wrongHowever, I'm still of the opinion that the whole Kenny vs Jane encounter was incredibly contrived, and really only occurred because of Breckon's shitty writing. He's the one we should be pointing fingers at, really.

As for the whole manipulation thing, I'm not really seeing it. The only people who concocted crazy, manipulative schemes were Jane, St Johns and the Stranger. She's not exactly in good company.
Jane does care about Clem. But she wants her for herself, because she can't be alone anymore, because the whole Jaime thing is clearly still eating her up inside. She wants a do-over and would do anything to get it.

>>17545>>17544>>17546>>17547>killing sarita because she's bittenThat's different from the baby dying. When he thought the baby died, he goes batshit berserk. You can't deny that.
And who really cares about the baby anyway? Seriously, put yourself in the shoes of someone in the post-apocalyptic world. You have barely any food, psycho humans could be anywhere, vicious zombies in numbers uncountable want to devour you. Would you really want to take care of a newborn? I wouldn't.
Morals are morals, but morals don't mean anything in the face of a worldwide apocalypse. You've got to be realistic if you want to survive properly. Not brutal like Carver, no, fuck him, but still realistic and smart about your actions.

>>17538>For that reason, not many characters can really be universally hated or universally loved. They can be badly written or mishandled, though, which happened a lot this season is the reason the S2 cast is so weak and dull. Even Kenny, one the comparatively more well-rounded and interesting characters, was underwritten and mishandled compared to his S1 incarnation. The whole season was just a clusterfuck of bad characterization and missed opportunities.

>>17550> Seriously, put yourself in the shoes of someone in the post-apocalyptic worldOk, put yourself in Kenny's shoes. The dude has lost fucking everything, he has put all of his hope into keeping Clem and this dumb fucking baby safe. The guy is on his last fucking leg just trying to get these kids to Wellington. Jane was wrong for forcing a bad situation and then saying "Look what an asshole Kenny is." She never let up, it's her fault he snapped. They would have been fine if she had just shut the fuck up.
There was nothing smart about what Jane did. Also, TellTale tried their hardest to make Kenny look like a nutjob, not pushed him as a god among men.
No.17553
>>17549>Jane only cares about anyone as long as it's convenient or profitable for herself.I wouldn't go that far, but she wasn't in a rush to help Clem before Clem "proved her worth". She's a darwinist, she can care, but she will cut her ties if she feels that the odds are against you.
If anything, she might abandon Clem to spare herself of the trouble she already gone through once before. Kenny would stay to the bitter end. Maybe that makes him a shittier survivalist, but he's still the person I'd rather have my back for that very reason.
>>17550I was thinking more along the lines of, seriously sick or hurt, like, immobile. Broken legs, getting impaled like Joel from The Last of Us. Shit like that. Pulling someone out of the water is very different from caring for them for months.
Also, given that you're happy to see a baby die, I fail to see your issues with Carver. What makes him worse than Jane?

Sure, Jane has some poor parts for sure, but remember that in the eyes of many fans S2, while not outright bad, was a major step down from S1 in quality. Everything was more poor right now.
>>17552No, they pushed us to care for him quite a bit. Everything was rushed in Ep5, especially the endings. Except Kenny's.
>>17553If Jane refuses to abandon her nigh-useless sister out of care until she realizes her sister only wants to die, then I doubt she'd leave Clementine.
I never said I'd be happy to let a baby die either. I said that, if I were in a legitimate Walking Dead situation where every day meant almost certain death, and every time you survive you're only delaying the inevitable, then yes, I'd care about my own life more than a newborn who'd be nothing but a burden.
If you're in a team-based race, would you rather have the tall, muscular, athletic person to be your partner, or the sickly, short, asthmatic person to be your partner?
>>17554Got bitten because saving Clem? I don't remember that, all I remember of that scene is a zombie grabbed her and chomped on her wrist. Clem could either hack off her wrist or kill the zombie.

>>17550>The devs really pushed Kenny as a god among men thoughI really don't think so. He just seemed like an asshole during a lot of Season 2.
Also, you raise a good point about Jane helping Clem after she falls in the river. This is why I say the whole encounter at the end of S2 feels really contrived. Every single person involved is out of character, and it all reeks of writing specifically crafted to get a rise out of players, not writing that intelligently plays on the subtle aspects of the characters they developed throughout the season. S1 was great in this regard, its ending was a huge payoff for all of the character development between Lee and Clem. S2 not so much. There was like 2 episodes total of character development between Jane and Kenny, not nearly enough to make a meaningful decision on.

>>17556>S2 feels really contrivedI can fully agree with you for all of that point. S2 itself didn't feel half as good as S1 to me, and the writing/characterization were a major part of that. Even though I liked Jane a lot, I still didn't care about her as much anyone I cared about in S1.

Now she hatches a plot to kill a man she considers to be mentally ill, she is happy to leaver a panicking girl to die, potentially leaves Clem to die and suggests abandoning a pregnant woman… She doesn't fill me with confidence, especially not after her lies.
In a team based race, I'd want to be with someone who would stay by my side and help me up when I stumble. Even if they aren't the fittest one in the bunch.
I was unfair to suggest that you'd be happy to see the baby die, I'm sorry about that. But the thing is, you have to look out for people around you in those situations. If you don't, no one will be there to help you when you need it. I'd rather die than get to a point where I'm abandoning children and I'm not exactly a saint either. But there has to be a line.

That's not to say Kenny didn't do the same, but still, Jane seemed very eager to be nigh-suicidal (like charging onto the river) just to save Clem. Though if you're calling us autistic, then you can kindly fill up the tear mug too.
And you may say that now, but it's like the old allegory of "die free, live enslaved". Most people when asked will say "I'll die free!", but in reality, most of us would rather live. In a nightmare scenario like TWD, I think most of us, if we even managed to survive, would do everything we could TO survive, even if it meant forsaking others.

Like I said. There has to be a line. What's the point of surviving if you don't live? Who'd want a baby killer on their side? People aren't as bad as you think they are. Even in the worst possible survival situations, there are those who stand up for others and protect the weak. Altruism is ultimately beneficial for our own survival, being social animals that we are. If it wasn't, it probably wouldn't be as prevalent as it is, natural selection would have most likely made it as rare as any other "deviance".
Anyway, it was good talking with you, but it's late and I have shit to do in the morning.

The writers specifically made the note to show Jane looking back, and choosing to go on while Clem is in peril.Ohhh, you mean at the hardware store? I remember that, though it's a little more understandable since Jane had no idea who Clem even was at that point, and they'd only shared a few words. If a zombie horde was behind me and I heard someone scream and didn't know who it was, I probably wouldn't turn back either. The fact she showed some concern though, enough to appear worried, is notable though.
