At that point they're still pretty much strangers.
>also ignoring the fact that in s1 clem gets kidnapped and kenny can refuse to go look for her and tells lee to go fuck himself basically No.17596
>>17595Zombies are slow. It's much easier to go back and help Clem, meaning two people vs one zombie. Then with that zombie eliminated the odds are much more even. What if Clem got killed? Jane would then be surrounded.
But yeah, Kenny was no saint in S1. He was an outright asshole half the time. He has a major change of character between the seasons.
No.17597
>>17596That's part of why I think TTG tried to push him as a fan-favorite. It's why such a big deal was made about him coming back and why he turned from a decently ok guy at best, petty asshole at worst, in S1 into a "father figure" in S2. They did give you options to dislike him though so I guess that's fair.
S2's characters, even Clem, were poorly-written and inconsistent on the whole.

>What do you think of the Tales from the Borderlands Episode 2 trailer? Do you think TTG can follow up on the success of Episode 1?
I thought it was pretty good. I expected Borderlands to suck and the first episode turned out pretty good, so I expect this episode to be good since the trailer makes it look like it'll be just as fun as the first episode. I'm hoping, more than anything, that telltale will be able to maintain a good level of quality with the subsequent episodes of TFTB, but I think they have it in them to pull it off.

I just beat episode 2 of GoT. Thought it was a pretty decent improvement on the first.
Just curious though, and I know it's a ttg game so odds are it doesn't, but does pushing Lady Margarine in the first ep actually do anything?
Like if I don't will she help me in episode 2 secure the marriage? Because I lost the betrothal.
No.17689
I'm here. Damnit I didn't mean to worry people. I didn't think anyone would even care at the time. My brain has been frazzled all day and I can't even think straight and my heart has been feeling like it's going to explode. I started drinking to calm down but it didn't help any. It feelt like my mind was trying to tear its way out of my head and I'd do anything to stop it.
I talked to on of those hotlines but it didn't help much either. Maybe calmed me down a bit and let me focus. Now I'm just miserably depressed and furious at the same time.
I'm sorry.
No.17690

I kinda don't want them to though, because it's TWD. Any time two characters get happy or fall in love, zombies will devour them, bandits will murder them, or they'll go psychotic.
No.17763
>>17762>similar to TLOUHow did they do it there? From what I heard, it was terribly ham-fisted and came out of left field due to it being DLC.
Not sure how something like that might work in TWD. Clem hasn't shown any interest in a relationship. Then again, she really hasn't met anyone her age besides Chocolate Duck, and you can point a gun at him and his "family" so I don't think that would work out too well.
No.17764
>>17763>Clem hasn't shown any interest in a relationship.Well, duh, she's only 11. We're, or at least I am, talking about an older Clem either in her teens or in adulthood.
As for Chocolate Duck, yeah I doubt it, primarily because he only shows in the Jane endings and he's a palette-swap, nothing character so he's not going to be anything significant in S3 and beyond, assuming he shows up at all.
No.17765
>>17764>teens or adulthoodTTG is limited in how far they can timeskip because of the comics, although I don't remember the precise amount of time. I think a 13 or 14 year old Clem might be doable, though.
Personally, I don't want another long timeskip like the one in S2E1.
No.17766
>>17765Those comics are going to go on forever, or at least until Kirkman gets tired of making money. That's the nature of the Walking Dead franchise, for better or worse. Teenage/adult Clem is a distant possibility.
>Personally, I don't want another long timeskip like the one in S2E1.It's unlikely, but I really want them to skip early adolescence and get to mid/late teens or adulthood ASAP. The writers had their chance to make S2 Clem an interesting, believable child character and the messed up. Mellisa's comment that they wrote her as having the mentality of a 16 year old makes me think they didn't want to write a child protagonist anyway so why not drop all pretense and make her a actual teenager?
No.17767
>>17765>>17766AFAIK Kirkman's license to Telltale states they can set their games any time they choose to as long as it isn't past his own comic timeline. If I remember right the latest comic issue is set 4 years after the apocalypse. Season 2 was set a little over 2 years. I'd rather they not go too far forward though. By that point in the comics there's nothing left to scavenge overall, zombies are everywhere, bandits are everywhere, and everyone has to stay locked up in bases. Not much opportunity for development or exploration there. Considering some of us here likely dated/had romantic interests at 11-12, it isn't too unlikely Clem might develop a crush on someone (with our input of course).
>>17763It was pretty hamfisted and out of nowhere, but my comparison was that it'd be a similar situation. Clem befriends someone and then develops a crush on him/her but it isn't too blatant and seems more like a friendship than anything else.
In the end guys, do remember that Telltale said S3 is going to take a "much different look" at the apocalypse. Clementine may not even appear AT ALL in S3. We might have more Seasons after that. We might not. Who knows?
The Comics also, AFAIK, are slated for 300 issues total (at least that's Kirkman's current publishing license). We're not even halfway through the Comic runtime, but many people have started feeling that the Comics are falling in quality and getting very mediocre. Sometimes too much of a good thing is a very bad thing.
No.17768
>>17767>Clementine may not even appear AT ALL in S3I would seriously have a problem with this, not just because she's Clem, but because there is zero closure to her story. It would be a huge mistake to just completely forget about Clem in S3. She is literally
the most important character in TWDG (even Lee gave his life for her in S1) and for TTG to just cut her story off with 4 or 5 ambiguous endings like that would just be plain stupid.
No.17769
>>17767>By that point in the comics there's nothing left to scavenge overall, zombies are everywhere, bandits are everywhere, and everyone has to stay locked up in basesTo be honest, I'm getting tired of aimlessly wandering around with no further purpose other than to survive. I've wanted a season to be set in a large settlement for a while now. There's lots of potential in exploring a civilization rising from the ashes of the old and how it adapts to the apocalypse. I
want to see the world and it's inhabitants change and evolve.
>Clementine may not even appear AT ALL in S3.I've seen people say that a lot, but I honestly can't see any reason why Clem wouldn't continue to be the focus of the games. Why even call it S3 if it's not going to continue the story? Why get rid of the character people have become so attached to in exchange for another random group of assholes? As I see it, Clementine
is the TWGD at this point. Not having her in the next season would not only not make sense, Telltale would be shooting themselves in the foot.
>>17767The TV show still exists and is more popular and more successful than the comics, but it depends on the comics for it's storylines. Franchises have also continued to exist long after they have become stale, e.g. the Simpsons.
No.17770
>>17768I would too, but there's always the possibility of more Seasons. The Walking Dead's popularity isn't dying any time soon, so I don't doubt TTG will continue it. Whether or not it'll be good is the big question.
>>17769Maybe, but I'm not sure if open-ended character interaction like that would work well in a survivor society. There's still only so much you can do that isn't repetitive, and while it'd be fun to roam around and talk to people, it would get stale. It's why Kirkman never lets survivors be too successful for very long. Even if we're in a stable place for two-three Episodes, sooner or later it's going to fall and we're back to square one. Either way, it can be handled well if TTG puts in the effort and doesn't rush everything like S2.
I disagree though. I love Clem and all, but it'd be interesting to see new characters in a different place for a change.
>The SimpsonsGod, I don't want TWD in any form to get on that level of shit.

Back from my shower and sent SFManon the mod files. Speaking of showers, I hope Clem gets to take a shower in season 3. Thinking about how happy Rick must've been to finally get a shower in a recent episode of the TV show, I'd like for there to be a scene where Clem finally gets to have one.

>>17770I wasn't thinking open-world exploration. I was thinking of something like Fabletown in TWAU. Game primarily takes place in one
massive settlement, but there are several unique locations within that settlement that the MC visits over the course of the season. There can even be scenes or eps that take place just outside the settlement as well.
>I love Clem and all, but it'd be interesting to see new characters in a different place for a change.I really don't. The Walking Dead universe is really boring, and I don't mean because of the overdone zombie setting. The grimdark themes that nothing lasts in the ZA and everyone is doomed to die only work in self-contained stories with a definite end, which the comics should've done a long time ago. Because this franchise is going to go on indefinitely and Kirkman insists on pushing his grimdark themes though means we're going to get the same recycled stories of: survivors wander around, fight bandits/warlords/cannibals, find settlement, settlement falls, survivors wander around, etc, rinse and repeat. This world never changes, it never evolves. The only reason I care about Clementine at this point is because I've invested myself in her story so much and I want to see it end properly and satisfactorily. Whether that happens or she's dropped unceremoniously is when I finally get of this train. If Telltale wants toy around with new characters in the same setting (I don't know why they'd want to do that), they can make a sequel or a spin-off.

>>17773When you get down to it survival itself is a very repetitive thing in this sort of scenario, really, which is why most "Zombie Sandbox Survival" games you see fail miserably. Survival really is just going day to day delaying your inevitable death. Eat, drink, find stuff, sleep, repeat.

>>17774I'm talking about story-telling. "Survive-til-you-die" works in zombie MMOs because there's no story in those games. When you're talking about a fictional universe where you have characters doing the same shit over and over again with no over-arching story or purpose to it all then it gets intolerable. That story sucks. To me the Walking Dead franchise should do one of two things:
1. End. Never going to happen now of course, especially since the franchise is more successful than ever. It actually should have ended a long time ago when the comic became a victim of it's own success and got stale.
2. Evolve. Explore
new themes, let the consumer see the world and it's inhabitants evolve and adapt, WWZ-style. That would help keep the setting fresh and interesting. I think even Kirkman has realized that because,
right now, in the comics there are three big, successful settlements lead by Rick and other former members of his group that are allied with one another and connected by reinforced roads. There's some fertile ground here for an exploration of a true post-apocalyptic civilization in it's infant stages. Then there's the people who live among and direct walker herds. This universe has potential, but Kirkman had done shit-all with it til recently. No.17777
JACKPOT QUADS!
No.17779
>>17776To be honest, as stale as it gets I prefer the grimdark themes. I don't want to see a civilization rise up successfully for another few decades really. By then it's possible the zombies will be weak enough for people to actually survive. Kirkman makes his characters too powerful yet does nothing with them meaningfully. You're left without a sense of danger and without a sense of progress at the same time. I'd rather it just end, but like you said it's not going to happen. I'm not too interested in the Comics any more myself. They got dull. Show's been dull to me since the end of Season 2. The Game's really all I care about WD-related any more because it usually handles things incredibly well, but with how rushed Season 2 was I hope the same doesn't happen to 3 and possibly onward.
No.17780
>>17774This.
The reason I gave up playing DayZ standalone is because there's literally nothing else to do once you're all geared up except kill/help other players and probably die in the process. The DayZ mods at least try to have some "endgame content" by incorporating base building and NPC missions. TWD is stuck in a similar rut, once you've got survival figured out, there's nowhere else to go but down.
Thinking along those lines, I think it would have been neat to encounter Wellington
while it was being built. I imagine it was quite a rocky start which is good in terms of storytelling, and it would provide a lot of motivation for going out and encountering other survivors. Howe's came close to addressing something like this, especially since the 400 Days DLC implied that they were in the stages of expanding their community.
>>17775Nice.
>>17776I agree on both of those points in terms of the franchise, but TWDG hasn't had any sort of build-up to that post-apocalyptic civilization/society like the comics and even the show have.
>>17777I need to make a pic of Clem checking dubs>>17779The show's rendition of the conflict between the Governor's Woodbury and Rick's camp is actually pretty good and I think I'd like to see something in a similar vein in the games.
No.17783
>>17780Same here. I can't stand games like DayZ because once you have your items there's no reason or need to do anything else, and there's nothing else you can even do. TWD and zombie apocalypse stuff in general has this issue. You can't stay on it for too long because things can only be stagnant and get worse, or they get better and it gets dull.

>>17779As frustrating as this franchise has become, I'm glad it's existed long enough for TWDGS1 to be created. That game did more justice to the franchise's themes the comics did. It was a well-written, self-contained story with a sad, but satisfying ending. Even if future TWDG seasons turn out to be awful, at least we'll have S1 as a great story all it's own.
>>17783>I'd love to see a longer-term or more open-ended Telltale WD game but I'm not sure how well it'd work past an Episode or two.Likely not well. It's really hard trying to write a good story with a linear progression (e.g. 99% of stories), writing a good story that branches out significantly and stays consistently good on every possible path is a mammoth undertaking. I can't think of any successful examples.

Clem would probably only have to practice enough to land a headshot from 5-10 yards. Most beginners I've seen are able to manage that after a few hundred rounds, provided they don't develop a flinch.
That's one thing I sort of appreciate about the show, actually. Sasha is stated to be their best shooter, and likely owes a big part of that to being able practice with her suppressed rifle without worrying too much about noise.

Hello /ttgg/! Had an exam today that went really well.
>>17844>what do you mean she has no ragdoll? You know how in GMod there's a couple of props that don't have any physics
at all? They're detail props or something that just stay stuck in place and aren't affected by gravity or anything. I'm pretty sure that's what was happening with the Clem model.
>>17848Speak for yourself.
Maybe if it was a baby I had no relationship to and no connection with (i.e. not AJ), I would try and find someone else to parent it. But I wouldn't abandon it.
>>17874>I'm sure it'll turn out fine, anon.Yeah. I think I can probably re-UV map it using an image of an actual set of scrubs instead of modifying Clem's existing shirt. I was just being lazy last night.

I'm pretty sure that's what was happening with the Clem model.I forgot to reply to this. What you're saying is that she spawns as an effect rather than a model. This technically makes her usable in Garry's Mod, but useless since I can't pose her.
