>>20997>>21001She's certainly changed a lot, but I'm not sure I find it entirely plausible. Why would she, of all people, turn out like that? I think the biggest problem I have with her characterization is her suddenly deciding to kill Karen and David in the prison because they were sick. No.21011
>>21010Do you honestly feel S2 ruined Clementine's character?
I've been thinking about it, studying both sides of the argument, and I'm starting to think that it did indeed ruin her image. She goes OOC way too much, has too much responsibility thrust onto her, and even her voice is monotonous and drab.
But I'll be damned if she isn't the most adorable thing I ever did see.
No.21012
>>21011I wouldn't say "ruined" but it definitely hurt the image of her I had in my mind. It's different when she had a set personality in season 1, and now we're effectively choosing it for her. For some reason, Lee felt like he had a set personality even though he was the player, but for Clem I don't think it's quite the same. I wish she had just been a main character and we had gotten to play as someone else. But even then, season 2 was so damn botched that it probably would barely have helped.

>>21021Outline version. I don't think this one looks as good.
No.21023
>>21012>For some reason, Lee felt like he had a set personality even though he was the playerThat's because he does. He's designed to be a character with his own unique personality and set character development while still being able to make a variety of contrasting choices that are consistent with his characterization. You can make him a little more gentle or meaner at times, but he's largely the same man in every playthrough, which is important because a consistent personality is key to what makes him a compelling character. Without a consistent personality your MC can't have character development, without character development your MC can't be a compelling character.
That's the problem with S2 Clem, she doesn't have a consistent personality. She seems to in the first two episodes of S2-even if it's incredibly different from the one she had at the end of S1, another issue-but it disappears after that, along with the any chance of character growth.
>>21011>Do you honestly feel S2 ruined Clementine's character?I don't even think of S2 Clem and S1 Clem as the same character.
Technically they are because they share the same history, but they have little else in common. It feels like fanfiction where the writer couldn't grasp the nuances of the original character and just filled in the blanks (everything) with their own headcanon. If someone read to you a list describing S2 Clem's personality without giving away her name or history, I don't think you'd realize she was supposed to be the little girl from S1.
I'll ask a couple different questions. Do you think Clementine can still salvaged as an interesting, unique character, even after what S2 did to her? What do think can be done to make her a compelling main character and protagonist in S3?
No.21024
>>21023>Can Clementine still be salvaged as an interesting, unique characterYes, I believe so! I still have hope that Clem can be her own person and not just a blob that we control. No matter what you chose, Lee was always a brave, capable, and mostly helpful person. Just give her a few set traits, and give us variations of that like you said.
No.21025
>>21024I like your optimism, anon.
No.21026
>>21023Personally, I can partially forgive Clem's change of character between S1 and S2. The big change took place over the 2-year timeskip, and it's totally understandable for that situation to take a huge toll on her. Lee and everyone else she's ever known besides Christa are dead or missing, they've been surviving out in the woods with no shelter, and Christa's cold attitude towards her certainly didn't help. As you said, it's the rest of her characterization throughout the season that was lacking.
>Do you think Clementine can still salvaged as an interesting, unique characterCertainly. We could have gotten a gripping story of Clementine coming to terms with loss, redemption, or any number of similar themes in S2, but TTG threw it away. S3 still has the possibility to correct that.

No.21035
>>21026I just don't buy the amount of change she went through. I could see Clem becoming almost unrecognizable in ten years, but two? Two years and barely any of her original personality exists? Forget the logic behind it, why would the writers think that was a good idea? Why change one of your most beloved characters that much
and not even show it? We don't even get to see her change and grow, as unbelievable the change still would've been. She might as well have been a different character.
God, I hope whoever's writing S3 knows what the hell they're doing. I think Clem still has so much potential, so many interesting ways her story can ultimately go, but god help if Breckon is touching any future projects.
No.21036
>>21035Key word was
partially. I don't think TTG really meant to abandon her S1 personality completely, but rather mistook her character from S1 as
just being an innocent little girl. And what happens when you take that innocence away? You just get a little girl with no other characteristics. That was TTG's mistake in my opinion. There were so many other things that made S1 Clem a great character, but all of these seem to have just been forgotten.

Of course, to do that they would have to retcon season 2 as "never actually happened", and then give us a new set of events that happened when Clem was 11 years old as "what really happened". But of course telltale won't do that, especially not with this franchise.

One thing I can say about TFTB however is that Sasha and Vaughn are not with Rhys and Fiona when they are talking to their captor. I was arguing against that, stating how there are some people (myself included) who would put the life of a child above their own.
Benanon then gave a situation he was in about a girl who was having a seizure and rather than call for help or try to assist her, he just minded his own business and boarded his bus.
Me and a bunch of anons then began to shit all over him about not helping the girl.
In retrospect, I realize that you really aren't supposed to do anything about a person having a seizure. You're SUPPOSED to just let them sieze and not try to stop them, so in that aspect, I guess I owe you an apology, Benanon. I'm sorry.
If I was in that situation, however, I would not have abandoned the girl. I would have called the paramedics, made sure the area around her was clear of anything that may have harmed her, and remained with her to ensure her safety. However, this doesn't give much time for characterization, and it's a bit difficult to connect them all together so it can feel a bit rushed at times even though each chapter is a full 15-20 minutes.

I found this video about TWAU by a guy that usually does War Thunder videos.
It's interesting hearing the opinion of someone who doesn't usually play these kinds of games. He doesn't seem to perceive many of the shortcomings we often do.
Maybe we're just too damn critical.

>>21163I guess, but by the time they leave, Lee has already proven himself to be pretty helpful. Also if Larry is so knowledgeable about Lee's case, he should know that it was because the guy was sleeping with Lee's wife and it was clearly a crime of passion. While obviously that doesn't make murder okay, it's pretty understandable. Him and Kenny had no real reason to help Larry get the pills. But Larry still has the fucking audacity to try and leave Lee behind. Even after that, he's still pointlessly antagonistic in episode 2. I get that there has to be conflict, but Larry was such an unlikable character. I can't wait to smash his head in.

No.21166
>>21164Oh yeah, Larry is a total dick no matter what. Maybe part of the reason why he was so consistently abrasive was to show the player how you treat others affects their perception of you. Most of the group besides Lilly really doesn't like Larry at all, and that could serve to foreshadow what might happen if Lee himself isn't careful with his relationships with others.
Just a theory. Maybe Larry is just 100% asshole 100% of the time.

It shares a lot of elements with Portal, except obviously the portal gun. Instead, there's lasers, fans, and even a time-recording mechanic. All you do is collect little tetrominoes they call sigils to progress through the "story". There's also a crapload of secret stars that require you to think outside the box, often taking puzzle elements out of bounds. That was my favorite part.
There's a demo on Steam if you want to try it out. Even the demo is quite good, it's what convinced me to buy the full game.

>>21209I actually want to see what Telltale would do if they made a Marvel comics game. Not a telltale Spider-man game, or telltale X-Men game, a telltale Marvel game that focuses on multiple characters, though obviously the player character would have to be someone who could be good or bad without breaking their character. I think Deadpool could be well suited for that, being a mercenary and all. It would also be nice if someone besides Galactus was the final villain.

But what I meant was if a comic were to be based on a TT game, like how Fables: TWAU is based on TWAU game. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Borderlands somehow turned into a comic. Gearbox seems to be itching to spread that IP far and wide.
