No.24690
>How far would you go to keep Clementine safe?
I like to think I'd go pretty far to protect those who depend on me. But I doubt I would be capable of doing it.
No.24691
>>24690
Do you think, as you are right now, that you could kill in self-defense? Would Clementine being with you give you more or less motivation to do it?
If not, what about after living in the ZA a couple of years?
I realize these are pretty odd questions, but they're things I've thought about in the past and I'm genuinely curious about other people's opinions.
No.24692
>>24691
>Do you think, as you are right now, that you could kill in self-defense?
I think I could, but I think most are capable of doing so even if they're not aware of it. At least everything I've read and listened about human violence and warfare seems to suggest that's the case.
>Would Clementine being with you give you more or less motivation to do it?
More I'm sure. People, even gentle people, seem more likely fight and kill if they think it will protect their loved ones.
No.24693
>>24691
>Do you think, as you are right now, that you could kill in self-defense?
I don't know. I think that most people would try when the survival instinct kicks in. But being willing and being capable are two different things. I'm not particularly strong, nor can I stay collected and smart under pressure. If I would kill in self defense, it would probably be due to dumb luck more than anything.
>Would Clementine being with you give you more or less motivation to do it?
More. This should be true for most people.

>How about you?
Well, that's why I'm asking. I'm licensed to carry, and I'd be lying to myself if I said I wouldn't kill in self-defense. Otherwise, what would be the point? It doesn't necessarily mean I want to do so, just that I'm prepared to. I always explain it as "the nuclear option", an absolute last resort if words don't work.
I was just curious what other people's opinions about that are, since the only people I ever discuss this kind of thing are like-minded.

I understand. I don't see killing in self-defense as bad in itself, although there are of course gray areas. To be honest, it's not a situation I often imagine myself in despite my extended family's history with violence. Even though I said I think I could kill in self-defense I don't think I'd cope well with the knowledge I took another person's life, regardless if I thought I had reason to believe they wanted to hurt or kill me. It's an event that would be seared into my mind and affect me for a long time. I'd likely be able to live with it "better" if I perceived it as defending another person's life, like one of my family members, but I imagine it still wouldn't be easy for me.

Good night.

I think I could kill someone if I had to, it doesn't mean I want to. I don't want to waste lives, I don't think I'd be ready to. I'd hurt me more if I'd hurt someone, if that makes sense. I wouldn't dare to kill anyone in the presence of Clem.
No.24704

Even if they are pointing a gun at you and demanding Clem go with them? They look away briefly, enough time to draw and shoot them in the head. Do you take the shot, knowing Clem will witness it?If you don't take the shot, there's a very high chance they'd kill you along with kidnapping Clem.

She had the opposite effect on me, actually. I just couldn't risk her life in the meat locker, or by letting the cannibals live and the stranger get away. However, when she wasn't present, I tended to be more gentle, I tried to talk Jolene down for example, but if she was waving that gun in front of Clementine she'd be dead before she even got to finish her first threat. In hindsight, I'm glad she's dead too.
I'm not a violent person, I don't even believe in the death penalty. I felt bad for Lilly, Larry and the crazies, and I didn't feel much gratification in killing the St. John's either. It's just something that had to be done to keep Clementine and the group alive/as safe as possible. It's not as if there are jails to put dangerous people in, and Larry was beyond saving while the group was unarmed and cramped.
I found myself being a lot more gentle in S2 because I didn't feel like I had to protect Clementine anymore, seeing as how she was the protagonist.

I'm glad you can produce such insightful comments, I can barely do that. I don't think I'm a violent person either, I try to tell myself that. I don't think I'd be capable of protecting Clem, I'm don't have the character.

I'd feel the same way. I know you guys are going to judge the shit out of me, but I felt the same paternal connection to Ellie in TLoU, and she was a sullen, foul-mouthed teenager.
I mean, being violently protective probably isn't the best thing in the world either, because of all the emotional damage and shit. But better to be scarred than dead in my option.

I can't believe this, I had a dream about Clementine last night and I completely forgot to tell you guys about it. It wasn't a nice dream where I was doing stuff with her like the dreams SFManon has, but rather, I was observing an alternate version of events with Clementine and Lee. They're at an abandoned amusement park and while next to a circus tent, Clem asks "Lee, if I lose you, what will I do?" Lee answers her right away, but it's obvious to me that it was a moment where the player was supposed to make a dialogue choice. Which leads me to ask, what would you say to Clementine if she were to ask you that?

And then I'd give her a hug.

Before I go, I suppose I'll pose a question to discuss. I mentioned last night that I was playing Vanishing of Ethan Carter. That game has a very natural and open-ended approach to puzzles and world exploration, webm related. I especially like how things are phrased as if they were the internal thoughts of the main/player character, something we don't see in TT games. We've discussed the story of various TT games, but what non-story mechanics would you change or improve? Perhaps you've seen something in other adventure games like this?

Poor Janefans, most good TWDG artists just don't seem to like her.
I honestly knew she would turn you down, but I expected one of the big reasons (aside from the on she gave) was that she didn't take requests. You should always ask artists if they do requests first before you get specific. Even if they say they do remember that artists usually like to draw what they're interested in. Requests are more like suggesting an idea rather than an order for free art.

It would take forever for me to list all the artists I like. Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Hopsin, Tech N9ne, Lupe Fiasco, that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I saw the RLM review too, and while I do think a lot of their complaints were legitimate, I still liked the movie quite a bit. It's not a great movie, but I appreciate it more as a collection of great little moments, if that makes sense.
>>24975
Thanks anon. I can do single images pretty quickly nowadays, so if the inspiration is there I can put it together pretty quick.

I don't know why you constantly have to shower us in your despair. It's like walking into a coffee shop where everyone is talking amongst themselves, and you just stand in the middle and tell us how shitty you feel, or how depressed you are, etc. It brings the mood down and you just come off as a whiny bitch.
Quite frankly, I'm sick of hearing you whine.

I agree with reverse DJ. If him sharing his feelings helps, then he should do it. And why not, if there's a chance that someone here can help. I'd probably ask for advice and such too if something was really troubling me.

The nostalgia part was referring to TWDS1, which, obviously, I have played several times before, but I have only played Ep1 of TWAU and wasn't impressed, but that was a long time ago, so I'm giving it another shot. Hell, it was only $4.75.

That's okay, anon. /ttgg/ is really your only outlet, I think it would be cruel to ask you to stop posting here if it really helps you feel better. I know I'm asleep most of the time you're awake, but I'm willing to listen whenever I'm available.
>>25005
Well, even if you still don't like TWAU that much, I hope you still play it for a while. Might as well, right?
No.25008
TWAU hurt me really bad. It had the best atmosphere, music and art style out of all Telltale games. And mystery is made for point and click. Why did they have to fuck it up so badly?

At least it's better than TWD S2. I know that's not saying much, but considering they were both made at the same time, I'd say TWAU turned out okay, even if there was a lot of wasted potential there.
