 No.24690

>How far would you go to keep Clementine safe?

I like to think I'd go pretty far to protect those who depend on me. But I doubt I would be capable of doing it.

 No.24691

>>24690

Do you think, as you are right now, that you could kill in self-defense? Would Clementine being with you give you more or less motivation to do it?

If not, what about after living in the ZA a couple of years?

I realize these are pretty odd questions, but they're things I've thought about in the past and I'm genuinely curious about other people's opinions.

 No.24692

>>24691

>Do you think, as you are right now, that you could kill in self-defense?

I think I could, but I think most are capable of doing so even if they're not aware of it. At least everything I've read and listened about human violence and warfare seems to suggest that's the case.

>Would Clementine being with you give you more or less motivation to do it?

More I'm sure. People, even gentle people, seem more likely fight and kill if they think it will protect their loved ones.

 No.24693

>>24691

>Do you think, as you are right now, that you could kill in self-defense?

I don't know. I think that most people would try when the survival instinct kicks in. But being willing and being capable are two different things. I'm not particularly strong, nor can I stay collected and smart under pressure. If I would kill in self defense, it would probably be due to dumb luck more than anything.

>Would Clementine being with you give you more or less motivation to do it?

More. This should be true for most people.

How about you?

 No.24695

>>24692

>>24693

>>24694

>How about you?

Well, that's why I'm asking. I'm licensed to carry, and I'd be lying to myself if I said I wouldn't kill in self-defense. Otherwise, what would be the point? It doesn't necessarily mean I want to do so, just that I'm prepared to. I always explain it as "the nuclear option", an absolute last resort if words don't work.

I was just curious what other people's opinions about that are, since the only people I ever discuss this kind of thing are like-minded.

 No.24696

>>24691

>Do you think, as you are right now, that you could kill in self-defense?

If I had no other choice. Whether or not I'd actually be successful at it is another story.

>Would Clementine being with you give you more or less motivation to do it?

More obviously. Why would it be less?

I'm off to bed. Good night /ttgg/.

 No.24702

>>24695

I understand. I don't see killing in self-defense as bad in itself, although there are of course gray areas. To be honest, it's not a situation I often imagine myself in despite my extended family's history with violence. Even though I said I think I could kill in self-defense I don't think I'd cope well with the knowledge I took another person's life, regardless if I thought I had reason to believe they wanted to hurt or kill me. It's an event that would be seared into my mind and affect me for a long time. I'd likely be able to live with it "better" if I perceived it as defending another person's life, like one of my family members, but I imagine it still wouldn't be easy for me.

>>24696

>>24700

Good night.

I think I could kill someone if I had to, it doesn't mean I want to. I don't want to waste lives, I don't think I'd be ready to. I'd hurt me more if I'd hurt someone, if that makes sense. I wouldn't dare to kill anyone in the presence of Clem.

Even if they are pointing a gun at you and demanding Clem go with them? They look away briefly, enough time to draw and shoot them in the head. Do you take the shot, knowing Clem will witness it?If you don't take the shot, there's a very high chance they'd kill you along with kidnapping Clem.

>I wouldn't dare to kill anyone in the presence of Clem.

She had the opposite effect on me, actually. I just couldn't risk her life in the meat locker, or by letting the cannibals live and the stranger get away. However, when she wasn't present, I tended to be more gentle, I tried to talk Jolene down for example, but if she was waving that gun in front of Clementine she'd be dead before she even got to finish her first threat. In hindsight, I'm glad she's dead too.

I'm not a violent person, I don't even believe in the death penalty. I felt bad for Lilly, Larry and the crazies, and I didn't feel much gratification in killing the St. John's either. It's just something that had to be done to keep Clementine and the group alive/as safe as possible. It's not as if there are jails to put dangerous people in, and Larry was beyond saving while the group was unarmed and cramped.

I found myself being a lot more gentle in S2 because I didn't feel like I had to protect Clementine anymore, seeing as how she was the protagonist.

I'm glad you can produce such insightful comments, I can barely do that. I don't think I'm a violent person either, I try to tell myself that. I don't think I'd be capable of protecting Clem, I'm don't have the character.

>What if Clementine was older?

I'd feel the same way. I know you guys are going to judge the shit out of me, but I felt the same paternal connection to Ellie in TLoU, and she was a sullen, foul-mouthed teenager.

I mean, being violently protective probably isn't the best thing in the world either, because of all the emotional damage and shit. But better to be scarred than dead in my option.

I agree her hair could be more 'afro-y' but it's otherwise this is the best attempt at a realistic Clem and Lee I've seen. They really captured her eyes too which most fanartists can't seem to do. I can't believe this, I had a dream about Clementine last night and I completely forgot to tell you guys about it. It wasn't a nice dream where I was doing stuff with her like the dreams SFManon has, but rather, I was observing an alternate version of events with Clementine and Lee. They're at an abandoned amusement park and while next to a circus tent, Clem asks "Lee, if I lose you, what will I do?" Lee answers her right away, but it's obvious to me that it was a moment where the player was supposed to make a dialogue choice. Which leads me to ask, what would you say to Clementine if she were to ask you that?

And then I'd give her a hug.

My last final before graduating is in a few hours so I'm gonna study my pants off. See you later /ttgg/, I'll likely be out celebrating most of tonight.

Before I go, I suppose I'll pose a question to discuss. I mentioned last night that I was playing Vanishing of Ethan Carter. That game has a very natural and open-ended approach to puzzles and world exploration, webm related. I especially like how things are phrased as if they were the internal thoughts of the main/player character, something we don't see in TT games. We've discussed the story of various TT games, but what non-story mechanics would you change or improve? Perhaps you've seen something in other adventure games like this?

Never really thought about it. I suppose that the quick time events were used too often in season 2, I hope they cut down on those and replace them with something different. I also wish there were multiple ways of solving a problem/fighting. It happened in season 2 a couple of times, but those were few and far in between.

I would like to see more puzzles that have to be solved using items in your inventory. It disappointing for me that these are supposed to play like point and click adventure games, yet your inventory is really unimportant for completing the game.

Poor Janefans, most good TWDG artists just don't seem to like her.

I honestly knew she would turn you down, but I expected one of the big reasons (aside from the on she gave) was that she didn't take requests. You should always ask artists if they do requests first before you get specific. Even if they say they do remember that artists usually like to draw what they're interested in. Requests are more like suggesting an idea rather than an order for free art.

Your fellow survivors would actually feel useful and competent and it would be nice to see the 'infiltrate an enemy compound' scenario tried again and made interesting this time. It would especially be cool if sections could be solved multiple ways, like taking different routes, using items you've collected in different ways, or if you could pick which friends out of your group to accompany you, changing or adding options at certain points depending on who you brought.

It would take forever for me to list all the artists I like. To keep it short, I like almost anything from 1979 to the early 90's and even most stuff from the mid 90's to the early 2000's. 2004 is where I believe rap started taking a sharp decline in quality, and I only like a few modern artists. Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Hopsin, Tech N9ne, Lupe Fiasco, that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Then again Clementine's from the south which where most of the stuff that I don't like comes from, so she might develop a taste for that instead…

>Then again Clementine's from the south which where most of the stuff that I don't like comes from, so she might develop a taste for that instead…

I'd like to think she'd only listen to whatever good southern hip hop there is and listen to older stuff as well.

Most people listen to a wide variety of music despite whatever preferences they might have, so I can see Clem liking both hip hop and classical. The question is would she like just listening to classical or would she be a serious aficionado and listen to classical music.

That's okay, anon. /ttgg/ is really your only outlet, I think it would be cruel to ask you to stop posting here if it really helps you feel better. I know I'm asleep most of the time you're awake, but I'm willing to listen whenever I'm available.

Well, even if you still don't like TWAU that much, I hope you still play it for a while. Might as well, right?

 No.25008

TWAU hurt me really bad. It had the best atmosphere, music and art style out of all Telltale games. And mystery is made for point and click. Why did they have to fuck it up so badly?

I'd like to talk to you more too. I just wish my damn internet connection was cooperative.

>>24989

Actually I just remembered that Friday doesn't work out for me ether. How about X-Men 3 next Monday?

>>24994

You should stop drinking so much anon, we don't want something to happen to you.

>>24997

The hide post function is your friend.

>>25000

Just ignore him anon, you've got a friend in me.

>>25002

I was about to say, it doesn't seem like loliloveranon to post something like that.

>>25008

At least it's better than TWD S2. I know that's not saying much, but considering they were both made at the same time, I'd say TWAU turned out okay, even if there was a lot of wasted potential there.

No can do. My life beyond the 22nd is up in the air, I have no idea what is going to happen beyond then. Not sure if I'll even be able to post or lurk as often as I do.

What do you mean? That sounds pretty scary anon.

Graduating, and then I gotta find a job. Arrangements in the meantime are hazy, but likely won't involve high speed internet like I have now, so no streaming. And no telling what my schedule is gonna be.

Congrats
