Tiny Tina is an utter trash character. I'll choke a bitch if she makes it in TftB.
>>25377
I wouldn't really call it copy-catting. There's only so many ways to make an "interactive story".
I mean, what exactly would it be copying? Dialogue options? Tons of RPGs have those. Environment highlights to indicate ways to interact? How else could you do it? And you can't say that TTG has exclusive rights to games where "choices affect the story".

>copy-catting
I agree copy-catting isn't really the right word. I would say LiS is one of the more recent entries (along with Sherlock: CaP and D4) that roughly fits in the "narrative-heavy adventure game" sub-genre that TWDG created. I really wouldn't mind if more developers jumped in on it with their own ideas and provide competition for TTG.
What did you vote for if you don't mind me asking?

>What did you vote for if you don't mind me asking?
I don't ship. I think it's pointless fanwank, really. People will always find a way to support their little fantasies no matter how outlandish they may be. I guess that's the point, but I don't really get it at all.
>Do we know if Clem is right-handed?
Any time she holds a gun, picks things up, uses the hammer/hachet/awl, etc. it's in her right hand, in both seasons. I think it's a pretty safe assumption.
I haven't heard anything about those two games you mentioned. Are they good? People seem to like them from what I can tell.
I think competition will push TTG to improve a lot, so it's a good thing we're seeing more of these games. I'd like to know their opinion on LiS and if they're taking any inspiration from it. I'd imagine at least a few of their employees have checked it out.

>shipping
I kind of get it, since I sort of used to ship, though not 'seriously'. People just get really attached to certain characters and enjoy thought of them getting together. Some take it further and try to prove their ship is backed up by evidence or is inherently better than canon ships, but not all shippers are like that. Most I find just want to talk and share the feelings on their preferred pairing with like-minded people without disturbance.
I don't know much about Sherlock other than it's a detective adventure game that actually lets you detect. You can solve mysteries multiple different ways and decide the fates you people deem guilty, so it kind of has that morale choice element.
D4 is a really weird, really surreal, really Japanese detective game. It's made by SWERY, the guy who made Deadly Premonition, a game that I love both ironically and unironically. It's sort of like Twin Peaks, where the main appeal comes from the MC interacting and interrogating with a cast of bizarre suspects as he flashes through time and place using his bathtub. Like I said really weird, but I found it's odd sense of humor really fun. It's very much a cult classic kind of game with a dedicated fanbase. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BErWAbLuqHc

Can't tell a dog's bite from a human's, thinks locking a severely wounded child in a shed is a smart idea, doesn't seem to realize fevers can occur from infected wounds and not just walker bites, refuses to get the CG to leave the ski lodge when Clem tells him about the flashlights, doesn't tell Kenny an his group about the flashlights, doesn't do anything to prepare for Carver's arrival getting everyone caught. I don't think Nick was stupid. Just scared. He brought in a bitten girl before anyone knew the effects of the walker bites, which caused his mom to get killed, Nick wasn't fast enough to stop it and ended up being the one who had to put his mom down. This clearly traumatized him and he didn't want to go though that experience again with Clem. Then later, Pete gets killed because Nick wasn't fast enough to react. So when he saw the next threat pointing a gun at his best friend, he reacted. I feel for the poor guy. Being emotional and traumatized doesn't make one stupid, but given his issues, he probably shouldn't have been given a gun in the first place.
Congratulations on graduating by the way. I hope you'll be able to find work soon.

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but Clem, Luke, and Matthew seemed to be on peaceful terms when Nick showed up. It wasn't until he started pointing a gun that the situation escalated. He was also specifically told to stay behind. And he also almost shot Clem twice. And decided to go out alone to look for help, but gets stuck on a fence and zombified.

I looked at the TT twitter to see if there was any TftB news, and I found this article:
http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/telltale-s-publishing-chief-on-reviving-licensed-games-championing-the-episodic-model-and-taking-on-tv/0149823
>“We do have a nice side benefit of having a secondary ‘Telltale fan’ that buys our games because they like what we do so much,” he observes. “It is becoming a difference-maker that lets us take more creative risks.”
I guess he's talking about us.
They also talk about the episodic model, saying it keeps interest in the game over a "six to eight" month period.
>six to eight months
>it's been six months (almost 7) since TftB Ep1 came out
>they aren't even halfway done
I don't think you're meeting those deadlines, buddy.
It also mentions their Super Show idea. Apparently TT thinks their IP is good enough for TV and movies:
>[Their IP] can continue to be franchised in this Super Show format, move on to a more traditional long-form TV series on cable or even become movies
Also worth noting is that they completely fail to mention Borderlands in this article (besides the image), even when they talk about releasing retail copies for their games this fall.
Anyways, perhaps that'll provide some material for discussion. See you later /ttgg/!

True. But he was still pointing a gun at them, while they were unarmed. You can't tell how peaceful a conversation is from that far away. And when Matt saw Nick approach, he got anxious and more aggressive with the gun pointing.
Shooting him obviously wasn't a correct thing to do, but I don't think many people would have fared better if it was their friend in the crosshairs during a bandit-filled apocalypse. Especially considering the fact that they were hunted by another group, and given Nick's personal, traumatic experiences.
>twice
Did he? I only remember that one time in episode 1. And again, the problem is that he isn't emotionally stable, not that he is dumb. He is constantly alert because he failed to save his family in the past. As fucked up as he is, it comes from a good place. He wants to protect people he cares about.
>And decided to go out alone to look for help
He didn't. Luke asked him to. And it wasn't a bad call on Luke's part. Someone had to stay with Sarah, and Nick was wounded, so he was better off trying to find the protection of the group than trying to protect or carry Sarah on his own.
Accidents happen. No one would suggest that Lee was dumb for what happened to him.

It's one or two traits per character. Chloe and her stepdad seem to be the only ones with depth and inner conflict, but personally I have a really hard time liking either one of them.

Nofunanon was ruining every thread with his overmoderation of the thread, deleting any post about Clementine, regardless of content or context. People got sick of it, and this board was created to get away from that. There was an incident here that caused people to think that this place somehow had more moderation than 4chan, so they went back even though that wasn't true. Between NFA's continuous censorship which eventually lead to actual Clem r34 getting posted in every thread, drama involving normal and moralfags, 8chan vs. 4chan posts, and lack of new things to discuss, people just stop posting and the thread would die sooner and sooner without a new thread being made. This place is objectively better than 4chan. We have better features and better moderation, and we can go for hours without activity and not have to worry the thread, or this board being deleted.

He was unintentionally pointing out one of the major themes of TWD universe, that is death is inevitable no matter good a survivor you are. I would say he's right if survival is your sole focus since it's a battle you're destined to lose, but humans rarely keep surviving for the sake of survival. S1 demonstrated this well with Lee and his taking are of Clementine. He didn't just look out for himself or even just her physical well-being. He tried to preserve Clem's innocence, morals, and soul as best he could and in doing so he preserved his own humanity. His death didn't feel like a defeat because it wasn't his life that was truly at stake. That's the problem with S2, there's nothing underneath the thin surface of selfish survival, why almost every death had no weight or why every victory felt hollow. Every action was simply to delay the inevitable. Nothing more, nothing deeper.
I think for future Clem there is a damn good reason to keep going but it has to transcend basic survival. She just needs to figure out what the reason is, pursue it, and death will not be her nemesis.
As I mentioned for Lee the reason to survive beyond survival was to keep Clementine's physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being intact. What do you think, or want, the reason for Clementine to be?
No.25488

How do you feel about the trope where the ZA is nature/God's "way of balancing" because humans have destroyed the environment for so long? I think it's a tired and clichéd one, but at the same time I can't recall ever seeing it in TWD fiction, nor anyone who holds that belief. Not even Gabriel from the show seems to think that way.
>>25487
Yeah, basically this. If you just look at it in terms of survival, even without the ZA, you could make a similar argument to Nick's and it would be just as flawed.
>What do you think, or want, the reason for Clementine to be?
Well, we've got AJ. That seems like a noble reason, even if it's somewhat of a rehash of Lee and Clem. But with AJ the challenge is moreso to teach him these morals and other intangibles in a world where they might not be as clear. The Road did a great job of this. The post-apocalypse was the only world the kid knew, but with the guidance of his father, he sought people with "the fire inside them", people of good moral fiber.
No.25489

>How do you feel about the trope where the ZA is nature/God's "way of balancing" because humans have destroyed the environment for so long?
I don't believe in it, and I think it's nice that it doesn't seem to be in TWD.
Speaking of The Road, I wonder how different TWD would be if it were an environmental apocalypse rather than a zombie one. Though one that humanity could recover from rather than like The Road where the planet is dying and there's no hope at all.
No.25490
>>25489
I'm kind of ignoring your question, but I thought of a related tangent. I think I would prefer TWD if "zombiism" wasn't guaranteed. For example, an overwhelming majority of people would turn after dying, but not all. This would accomplish a variety of things. First of all, it would provide the potential for an end to the ZA, which would surely motivate survivors and provide a clear goal for them. Second, it would bring a whole new source of tension. Perhaps knowing who was immune wouldn't be possible until they died. Would people kill just to find out if someone was immune? Maybe entire societies based around this concept would emerge and TWD could explore darker themes like eugenics. People believed to be immune might be encouraged or even forced to reproduce, whereas infected people might be treated as second-class citizens. People might also take advantage of others with the promise of a cure.

Sort of. The problem is that a few obsessive dedicated fans can make a ton of fanart for the most unlikely characters. Most people hate/dislike Arvo (and not just here) but he has a fairly disproportionate amount of positive OC of him due to a few people. On the other hand the lack of OC for certain major characters I feel can be a good indicator of their relative unpopularity e.g. Jane.

It's not really. There's only one case of inexplicable immunity and it's used merely as a plot device, not that that's a bad thing. The eugenics society or immunity based class system is not something I've seen explored in zombie stories or at least ones I've heard of.

I might as well tell you guys about the dream I had last night before I go to bed. It featured Clem, Kenny, Jane, Sarah and Becca. They where all living in an apartment similar to the one from 28 Days Later, but it had a cellar. The person they were living with was someone who looked like the leader of Alexandria in TWD TV show, but was actually someone else entirely. The details are fuzzy, but basically, Jane molested Clementine, Kenny found out and killed her because of it, and when the leader found out, she told Clementine that she has to kill Sarah because she helped her do it. Sarah was watching TV in the cellar as Clementine approached her, crying. Sarah was completely unaware of what Clementine was about to do, and didn't even notice Clem had a gun in her hand. She asked Clementine what was wrong, but Clem didn't answer and just kept crying. I didn't see what happened after that, but I assume Clem went through with it. The last thing I remember happening in the dream is me talking to Kenny in the kitchen, who sounded like Abraham from the TV when he spoke, and when I looked at him, I started seeing Abraham in Kenny's place at the same time as Kenny, leaving me to wonder whether if it was really Kenny or Abraham, or a fusion of both.
And with that, good night /ttgg/.

That's also a pretty interesting parallel going on between Abraham and Kenny. Now that I think of it, they share quite a lot of traits. Do you think Abraham and Kenny would get along well if they ever met?
I've had a couple of Clem dreams since the last time I've told y'all about it. The most interesting was a non-lucid one where I was helping Clem fix a car. It was a place similar to the auto shop in Crawford, just with an old sedan we were fixing on the lift instead of the truck. I think I was cleaning the carburetor, which is a little odd for a car to have nowadays, but I suppose most of my mechanical knowledge comes from motorcycles. Clem was there to hand me tools and materials, and we ended up having to walk a couple of miles to find gas for it. I'm pretty sure this occurred during the ZA, but I never actually saw any zombies. The whole "feel" of it had a lot in common with fixing a car in DayZ; a lot of my dreams seem to emulate vidya.

They actually do seem similar now that you mention it. I can see them getting along, though it could turn nasty if they ever conflicted.

I haven't played it, I watched an LP since I can't play it, but I would say it's the best so far though not much better than the last episode. I think every episode of the game is better than the last so far, but the increase in quality is gradual rather than it getting better by a large margin. >>25587
She'll die when they want her to. It's only a matter of time, anon.

Just finished GoT Ep2. I liked it quite a bit, I think they've got a good thing going here. Not sure if I mentioned this before, but I think of Kenny a lot while playing because GoT is the definition of "muh family". Also, Mira is a qt, and I like the little frown Gared always seems to have. Poor guy.
Decisions in pic.
>>25585
That's always a possibility, and one I'm willing to accept if it's done well. Only time will tell, I suppose.
Given the option between Clem having a meaningful death, and her surviving in some stupid Mary Sue plot-armory way, I'd choose the former.
>>25586
Well, I'm not about to go stating things as if they were the truth like that. I kinda meant what you said, though. What if older Clem was a mother? Clem is the closest thing to a mother for AJ, might he resent being "replaced"?

Also, cute Mira has a pretty cute scrunch. Not nearly as powerful as Clem's, but still pretty good.

No, I don't want her to die. I want her story to end in a meaningful, compelling way. I'd rather it be done well than to be a horrible hackjob and leave a bitter taste in my mouth.
Of course, that's ignoring the possibility of a season 4.

With the plot armor telltale gave her, Clem will be the one person in TWD who is immune to zombie bites. Calling it now.

Nice going with the betrothal, though I shouldn't have expected anything less from a guy who can get chicks in real life. What did you do with the knife?
I'm torn about the death of Clem. I obviously don't want it to happen and Lee's sacrifice will be worthless if she dies, but at the same time, I'd be more willing to accept how badly telltale fucked up her character in season 2 if she dies. If it means preventing telltale from further ruining her character, I too could accept Clem's death if it's done correctly.

What makes you think that? Also they're probably going to do some flaccid multiple ending thing for her story rather than kill her outright. It'll suck if that's the case.
>>25589
I was being kind of a semantics Nazi there.
Would AJ see Clem as a mother? I don't think she could totally fill that role for him considering she's only a decade older although it would be interesting to see her figure out how. It does bring up a interesting question: how would AJ view Clem in relation to himself? Friend, mother, sister, a mix of of things or something more unique? If she had her own child how would he view them?
>>25591
>>25593
I think you need to remember that Clem is going to die regardless of what happens in the games. The question is do you want to see her death in the games? If she was going to die in the games how would you prefer she passed, at what age, at what point, etc? What would you want her death to do for the story and her arc?

I know that. When I say I'll be able to accept Clem's death if it's done correctly, I'm talking about her story ending with her death.
I gotta get up early tomorrow so I'm going to bed now. Good night /ttgg/.

I didn't think the betrothal part was too difficult, really. I don't think I'm quite the ladies man you make me out to be.
I kept the knife. I'm not about to leave a murder weapon lying around, although I suspect I'll still get in trouble for it eventually. If I had known, for example, that she could toss it into the ocean or something, I would have done that instead. But I figured she'd do something stupid like leave it among the plants.
>>25594
Good morning anon, I've been thinking about you. I hope you're doing well. Remember my little note, it's silly but I hope it can help you get through your day.
>>25596
>I don't think she could totally fill that role for him
I don't think so either, but she's the closest thing he would have. Maybe we'll be introduced to someone else who can fill that role more effectively, and Clem will be more like an older sister to him. There's a lot of ways TT can take this, and I hope they pick a good one.
>how would AJ view Clem in relation to himself?
That's a good question, and I think that all depends on how AJ's childhood plays out. If Clementine is the only suitable person around to raise him, I think he'd end up regarding her much like a mother. It would be a little odd, but people get attached like that and would certainly be a very interesting relationship that would warrant exploration. Obviously Clem isn't actually his mother, but it's not like AJ has the luxury of choosing a caretaker, either.
>If she had her own child how would he view them?
Probably not like a sibling, especially since there would be a significant age gap. They'd probably develop some sort of bond though, one that would keep them together despite any differences they might have. It's certainly a strange thought.

Not necessarily. With no contraceptives, rape-y bandits around and no sexual education, Clem could very well be a teen mom. People in deprived environments tend to become parents quite early in the real world too.

It's kinda hard to find equivalents, actually.
Maybe if we work backwards:
Lee = Gared
Katjaa = Elissa Forrester, although Elissa's certainly stronger-willed
Ben = Ethan/Cotter?
I can't think of any good equivalents for Kenny or Carver. There's plenty of hardasses in GoT, but I don't think there's too many that would fit those two particularly well.

Oh, that's what that guy's name was. I just remember him as that Whitehill asshole. I think Ramsay fits Carver better, though. Ludd just seems to be kissing up to the Boltons, whereas Ramsay is the one that's just off the rails. Carver and Ramsay are both completely fine with killing people (Ethan, Reggie), to assert their dominance over their subordinates, and they're the ones pulling the strings. I don't think Ludd is quite so ruthless.
