Right, now that that's out of the way…

>What do you think of Rodrik? How do you play him?

Well, I was only recently introduced to him in Ep2. I'd say he's alright, but there's nothing really outstanding about him. Just your run-of-the-mill lordly type, you know?

I gotta say, the scarring he's got going on is actually kinda cool. It's not your clichéd slash across the eye like Beskha, it legitimately looks painful and disgusting.

I play him as putting his honor and house first. Fuck kissing Ludd's ring, that dude can shove it.

Also, when the Maester treats him, I drank the poppy juice or whatever. What is that?

I also wanted to ask if Tyrion's deal with Mira to sell the Ironwood through House Forrester is something you can turn down, or if it's forced upon you. I took the deal but wasn't sure if you could refuse it.

 No.25639

>>25636

I seriously doubt I'll get the job, I don't have enough experience. They'll probably just turn down my application without asking for an interview.

Their requirements were a little strange, now that I think of it. The 'Gameplay Programmer" position only asked for experience in Lua, and the "Internal Tools Developer" had requirements more in line with a web developer. Both asked for 3+ years of industry experience of which I have none. Maybe I should cite my "years of experience" playing their games instead.

I mean, I've got nothing against Lua, and it's a better choice than many other scripting languages, but I wouldn't hire people based on their experience in such a specialized language. If you have experience in literally any other scripting language, Lua is a cakewalk to learn in a couple of hours.

>>25637

And so the cycle continues…

>Why do you think Tom is helping Mira?*

He wants to fugg

>Who do you think is the traitor?*

The mother. She might have been intimidated into giving information for Ryon's safety.

>What did you do to Gryff?*

Stud up to him every chance I got, knocked him down on his ass, didn't maim or hit him. Beating up guys while someone holds them down for you seems low. Plus, he is a hostage.

>Do you think Cotter is trustworthy?*

Yeah, but he might be dumb.

>Which of the protagonists do you think will be dead by the end?*

Gared, the north grove seems like too much of a game changer.

>How much longer do we have to wait before the next episode of TFTB?*

About a month.

>What do you think of Rodrik? How do you play him?

He's alright. I wish he really was crippled, that would have been more interesting to play. I play him as serious, truthful, ballsy and honorable.

I can't understand why they would want people with experience, considering season 2 was made by people with little to no experience. Unless they actually realized that that was a mistake.

I was curious and looked at their animator positions. They have a "Cinematic Artist" opening, and they ask you to animate some scenes from Bonnie's story using whatever tools you can.

 No.25655

>>25649

No, not while the rest of the franchise is growing and expanding. New spin-off show, new game by Overkill, TV show probably going on for another 12 seasons, and a never-ending comic. Why cut off a branch that isn't withering (financially)? Kirkman and Skybound probably wouldn't let TTG end the series now either since they're under some contract.

I do want the series to end eventually but I want the ending to be thought of out far ahead of time and ending at S3 feels premature to me.

>because making your choices matter from season 1 and beyond becomes increasingly more difficult with each new game released.

"Matter" how exactly?

 No.25656

>>25655

>No, not while the rest of the franchise is growing and expanding

This is true sadly, it wouldn't make sense for them to stop the game when every other part of the franchise is still going strong. The problem with a series continuing forever just because it's popular is that it can drop in quality but still be successful, as season 2 of the game has proved. The series can also suffer from padding, and arguably already has, and with something as limited as zombies, there's no way to make things interesting without working towards rebuilding society, which Kirkman obviously doesn't want to do yet, or giving the zombies super powers, in which case they're not really zombies any more. As an example of what I'm talking about The Legend of Zelda series manages to still be good after all these years in part due to how each game offers a unique experience. There's a lot more to it than just "it's medieval, isn't it great?" Because TWD is a zombie franchise there's not that much potential for change and it runs the risk of getting stale if it goes on for too long, and again, has arguably already become stale. And because success is what keeps it going, it means that games will continue to be made regardless of actual quality.

>"Matter" how exactly?

By having things be different based on your choices. Season 2 is a bad example, but even that game had some dialogue be different based on your season 1 choices. I can't imagine things like that happening the longer the series continues. Not to mention how tedious it would be to see how things are different based on choices from older seasons. For example, playing through the first 4 games in a very specific way just to see how one specific scene in season 5 is different based on those choices.

Well, you know what I'm up to. Real life stuff keeping me busy most of the day. I got a robocall from California today that for a second I thought was TTG calling me up. Almost scared the pants off of me, literally, because I was in the middle of putting on my belt.

>>25656

I know it's nice to have your decisions mean something, but if TWDG becomes a long-running series and making your decisions matter across multiple seasons is untenable, I'd rather each season just sort of wrap things up. A lot of people might accuse TTG of producing "movie games", but the narrative is most important to me. This doesn't mean that within a season your choices can't matter. Doug and Carley survived for quite a long time in S1, and each provides a unique experience, even though S1 basically ends in the same place regardless of your decision. I'd be okay with that kind of choice.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that TT shouldn't ever do this multiple ending thing again if they intend to keep producing TWDG. Have each season be its own little thing, with a definite beginning and end so everyone is satisfied, but perhaps branch out in the middle.

I dunno, really. I'm no writer. I suppose we can't really know which way is best until someone tries it.

 No.25658

How the fuck could Carlos not tell the difference between a dog bite and a human bite?

 No.25659

>>25658

Cause he's a quack.

I dunno, maybe he just didn't get a very good look at it. The last time they let a wounded survivor in, they turned and killed Nick's mom. So the group was already predisposed to turning her away, and the shed stunt was just to make sure it wasn't a zombie bite.

Still incredibly irresponsible, though. It would have taken less than a few seconds to check, and I don't really buy the stupid excuse of low medical supplies. What the fuck else are you gonna use medical supplies on if you won't use it on an open, possibly infected wound like that?

Screw those guys, as Clem would say.

 No.25660

>>25658

Probably got his medical license back in Mexico.

 No.25661

>>25660

You would not believe how many doctors and dentists there are across the border here. And people actually go to them, cause it's hella cheap.

You know, I bet a lot of Mexican doctors have seen some shit, what with all of the drug cartel violence going on down there. They might actually be better prepared to work during a zombie apocalypse.

Do we even know what kind of doctor Carlos was?

 No.25662

>>25656

>playing through the first 4 games in a very specific way just to see how one specific scene in season 5 is different based on those choices

That's never going to happen because it would be utterly insane and difficult. At best each new season will only take into account the decisions made in the previous one so it can alter little bits of dialogue. I'm totally fine with that because I don''t like the idea of some important scene being altered by a unrelated decision I made three years ago.

>>25658

Because drama, which isn't inherently a bad thing unless it's done as clumsily and blatantly as that was.

>>25659

Do you remember how the shed idea was supposed to work? Carlos wanted her locked in there for the whole night and then they'd check on her the next morning to see if she had a fever and therefore 'infected'? Am I wrong because I can immediately spot the inherent flaw in that plan and I'm not sure the writers did?

>>25660

>>25661

Mexican doctors are actually pretty comparable to American and Canadian doctors. Also I'm not totally sure why but I doubt Carlos was from Mexico.

 No.25663

>>25662

That was the most baffling part. Like holy shit do you not see how bad that cut is? She will definitely bleed to death by morning, or at the very least that cut will be infected to all hell. Why the fuck not help her now and then see if she has turned in the morning?

 No.25664

>>25662

>Do you remember how the shed idea was supposed to work?

I didn't remember that they were just gonna check for a fever. I thought they were gonna wait and see if she turned. Yeah, that's a pretty stupid plan, and a terrible way to treat someone either way.

>I doubt Carlos was from Mexico

Where do you think he's from?

>>25663

That's what I was saying, they had some lame excuse about not wanting to waste the medical supplies.

 No.25667

>>25666

Yes I'd let some random kid in the woods die. I don't know them, they have no relation to me, so they can die for all I care. I don't want to bring a potentially infected person into the house so that she's our problem if she wakes up and becomes a zombie. Hell no I'm not cleaning that up, she can stay in the shed and just die.

 No.25668

>>25665

Then why didn't he just send her off to die or declare her 'infected' and have her put down? Why keep her anywhere near the cabin where she could possibly break into?

 No.25669

Watch that edge there anon. Obviously the majority of the cabin crew didn't want to let a kid die. It was only that shit tier character rebecca, and maybe carlos if you want to believe that theory.

idk. Maybe he wanted to kill her but he also wanted to not make himself look like a complete asshole.

There's no indication he wanted to kill her and neither maliciousness or caution explain how illogical his plan was anyway. If it was made clear by the writing he was a selfish asshole I'd absolutely buy the "neglectful murder" angle but it isn't and it wouldn't even be consistent with his actions later. It's just bad writing, plain and simple.

It's weird, but I actually didn't develop parental feelings for Clem during my first playthrough of TWD. I was into TWAU first and decided to play TWD because it was also made by telltale and because I wanted to be a part of this general without having to worry about spoilers. I got caught up with TWD (S2 Ep2 was the most recent at the time) and all the feelings I have for Clem now hit me all at once, I wished she was my daughter and wanted nothing more than to take care of her.

I don't know. My feelings toward Clem are a bit complicated. I'd say I was a S1 Clemfan. I'm a little ashamed of it, but I thirsted for S2 Clem for a time. One of those nights, I went out to get some food, and I literally saw nobody else except the cashier. Nobody was driving around or anything. On top of that, a whole bunch of traffic lights were blinking yellow. It was really spooky, it felt like I was the only living person around for miles and the traffic light think made it feel like the city was completely abandoned and in disrepair or something.

TWD would certainly bring a lot of people back, and it's basically confirmed we're getting news about it in two weeks. Until then, all we can do is pass the time, and that's not so bad.

Back to Crusader Clem 2. The plot to kill King Sancho II went off without a hitch and his former kingdom has been split in two. Queen Clementine kicked Castillian and Dhunnunidid ass, taking Calatyud and the entire duchy of Toledo. Currently we're in two wars for Granada and Murcia in an effort to conquer all of southern Iberia while Clem (45) is still kicking. Possibly more important though we just matrilineally married Clem's daughter and spitting image, Diana, to Nicolas, a son of the king of France; all their children will be of our dynasty and will have claims on the French kingdom. If we can put Nicolas on the throne then France will eventually be ruled by an Everett.

 No.25727

>>25726

Is that Clem in the top left? Looks like she's getting a little rough around the edges, but at least she led quite a fulfilling life.

Diana totally looks like Clem 2.0. Did you have any say in choosing her over her other siblings to marry off to Nicolas? Also, France being ruled by an Everett will still be France, right? It won't be part of Clementonia so you won't have direct control, but obviously you would have very good relations with it.

Looks like something's wrong with my GoT installation so I suppose I'll play Vicky 2 in your honor.

Also, you have no idea how patriotic I feel right now. Your Clementonia is kicking ass, both open carry and campus carry passed in Texas this weekend, and the Patriot act is on its last legs. Fuckin' 'merica. I don't have the Kenny flag image, but if I did, I'd post it.

>>25727

>Is that Clem in the top left?

Yeah, her portrait changed a while ago. Adults in this game have three basic portraits based on age; young which starts at 16, middle-aged at 30, and old at 50. In five in-game years Clem will suddenly have grey air and wrinkles.

>Did you have any say in choosing her over her other siblings to marry off to Nicolas?

Normally I'd have to deal with the ruler of a subject I wanted to interact with and there's no way the King of France would allow someone so high in the line of succession to be matrilineally married. Lucky for us Nicolas is itching to get on the throne and accepted an invitation to our court where we were freely able to marry him to Diana in hopes Clementine would press his claims.

>France being ruled by an Everett will still be France, right?

Correct, but a single person can hold more than one kingdom title. At this point Clem will never personally control France but if say Diana's newly born daughter, Clementine, was in line to inherit Clementonia while her father held France eventually she'd gain both titles.

>I don't have the Kenny flag image, but if I did, I'd post it.

Also, I finished the majority of the Vicky II tutorials. I wanna git gud before I try making a… Clemilization? Raise my odds of success.

You mentioned Vicky II has some good DLC? I know Paradox DLC is easy to pirate, should I just get everything, or do you think I might get overwhelmed? Keep in mind that this is my first grand strategy game. I can hold my own in Civ, Anno or Total War, but it might take a while for me to get the hang of this.

Speaking of strategy games, I played Settlers of Catan with two of my visiting cousins earlier today. It's pretty good as far as casual little board games go.

I imagined playing against Clem, and prioritized being a nice person that traded fairly and didn't stab anyone in the back. I still managed to win once, it was nice.

I've got that one too.

>But I assume you can only ever control Clementonia, right?

The player character directly controls everything in their realm including kingdom titles. If everything works out like I planned then one of Clem's descendants should control both France and Clementonia (Catalonia) and their realm will reach from the English Channel to the Balearic Sea. I'll also make Clementonia the primary title so it's name will hover over most of Western Europe.

I honestly don't remember how helpful the in-game tutorials in Vicky 2 are (Paradox tutorials are notoriously obtuse) so I recommend using this wiki http://www.victoria2wiki.com/Beginner%27s_guide, jump in a 'beginner nation', and save a lot. There's a good chance you're going to overlook a seemingly minor detail and get curb-stomped by a bigger nation on your first playthrough but that's part of the experience. I can also help with any questions you might have. I'm not the best V2 player but I've got the basics down.

>DLC

You might want to play around with vanilla around first to get the hang of things but I recommend getting the two main DLC eventually. Vicky 2 was made in Paradox's awkward indie era where the vanilla releases were incredibly barebones

I watched my cousin play the first episode of TWAU and TWD S2 on the same night, and while TWD S2 seemed like the better game at the time, I liked TWAU more for some reason. I wanted to participate in the thread after getting caught up with TWAU, but I was new to 4chan at the time and couldn't find the thread. Luckily the friend who introduced me to both the game and the general pointed me in the right direction. Even though I initially wanted to be apart of the thread because of TWAU, I noticed there was a lot of TWD discussion too, and I ended up getting the Clementine hostage situation spoiled for me. I decided to avoid the general for a few days as I got caught up with TWD and well, here I am today. The only other Telltale game I played before that was Tales of Monkey Island, and that was only because I was a fan of the series.

Would Leland have been a better PC than Bonnie in 400 days?

How about S2, would he have been a better fit as a survivor at Howe's? I've always been of the opinion that Bonnie felt out of place there.

Ignore the fact that Shel's group might have found out about Dee stealing their supplies.

 No.25755

>>25754

I'm kinda ignoring the first part of your question, but I wonder how the Bonnie kills Dee part would've been had you been playing as Leland. Rather than having to choose to tell the truth or lie, you have to decide whether or not you think Bonnie is telling the truth about what happened.

It's hard for me to imagine Leland in Bonnie's in season 2, for one thing it would be easier to distrust him upon finding him at the ski lodge, and I ultimately don't think he'd be any better of a character than Bonnie was.

I actually like how the 400 Days stories are indirectly related to one another, yet the characters don't seem to be aware of it. Bonnie doesn't seem to know that it's Shel's group that Dee stole from, and Russell and Wyatt both encountered Nate, but don't know that.

 No.25756

>>25755

>you have to decide whether or not you think Bonnie is telling the truth

That would actually be kinda neat. There should be more decisions like that in TWD. There's plenty of times where you have to decide if someone's lying in TWAU, which I really liked.

I suppose I should clarify my opinion of Bonnie in S2. Bonnie just doesn't really seem the type that would work too well in a community like Howe's, and certainly not someone that they'd send along in a search party. I mean think about it, how would she ever become someone Carver would trust enough to do that, on the same level as Troy and that other guy? She turns on him way too easily, I'd think Carver would have the sense to see she might do something like that.

Also, what do you think was in the bag Dee stole from Shel's group? What could possibly be so important?

 No.25757

>>25756

Well in Shel's story Roman says that the last time someone stole from them it was more than they could afford to lose. I'm guessing it was medical supplies and shit, and the importance behind it was not so much what was taken, but how much was taken.

 No.25758

>>25757

>medical supplies

>"medical" supplies

What if Shel's group was actually a drug running operation, and that bag was their next payment to the Ruskis from S2? But Dee stole that bag and planned to leave it around for Bonnie to OD on or something? Maybe the Ruskis were the ones that killed them at the river after some feud, not Carver

While I'm making these crazy speculations, why don't I involve S1? I might have my timeline mixed up, but what if this entire drug running operation was somehow related to the remaining Save-Lots bandit that didn't get shot in S1? Or maybe Roman was also one of these bandits at some point.

I'd actually like to know if there's any holes in this theory.

 No.25759

>>25758

I see the Save-Lots bandits as being more of a rival group to Roman's group than Roman being one of them. Maybe the guy they captured was working for Save-Lots bandits. As farfetched and crazy as these theories might be, they at least make more sense than season 2's writing.

I know we've discussed banditry before, but I find it quite interesting.

I wonder how common banditry would actually be in the ZA. TWD is incredibly inconsistent in how often survivor groups seem to run into each other. Sometimes, it seems that there's loads of groups and gangs all over the place (some parts of S1, 400 days is kinda based on this notion), and other times not so much. Since banditry relies on taking other people's stuff, I imagine it would be most prevalent in areas with a lot of survivors they could prey upon.

Another thing is how bandit groups would manage to survive or recruit new members. Such a high-risk endeavor would likely result in the death of group members, since your opponents are almost always armed humans and not slow, shambling zombies. Who would replace them? Would some survivors turn to banditry out of desperation, or would banditry just die out after the initial groups died off? I bet a lot of bandit groups would have formed from pre-existing groups before the ZA, such as criminal gangs or groups of just plain unsavory people like the Save-Lots bandits.

I think how common banditry would be in the ZA would depend on where you are. People from areas with a high crime rate would be more likely to resort to it than people from peaceful areas. I wish TWD, or at least the game, was more realistic in it's deceptions of the ZA. I'm not just talking about season 2's contrived writing, but things like Danny St. John being a pedophile, and Ben being forced to watch a student get raped, getting cut from the game. Sorry to say, but these things would happen in the ZA, and I think the game could benefit from portraying it more realistically, rather than leaving things like that out because it might be too "extreme" or controversial for most people. I imagine bandits wouldn't look for new members, as they'd barely be able to trust eachother. A group of survivors that doesn't rely on banditry to get by would have to be cautious about adding new people, but I think they'd be more willing to do so than straight up bandits.

Well, that's the price of trying to appeal to such a wide audience. I wonder if the comics get away with more serious themes like that. If someone that reads the comics is here, please enlighten us.

In regards to banditry depending on region, I realized that the American south is actually a pretty good setting for this. The relatively low population density (at least outside of cities) and the somewhat common availability of firearms or other impromptu weapons would give survivors a fighting chance against the zombies in the early days of the outbreak. This would also provide ample pickings for possible bandit groups to prey upon.

I discussed this topic with a few people yesterday, and we looked at DayZ as a case study. It's not that great of an example since, being a video game, people don't have the same risk assessment strategy as in real life. However, we noted that there's two main types of banditry, which would probably translate at least somewhat to the real world. First, there's coastal bandits, who pick on new spawns. New spawns are a very low threat to someone who's armed and are often alone. However, they tend to scavenge supplies like food and water that are absolutely necessary for survival, something a bandit also clearly needs. I kind of imagine Russel being like one of these new spawns. He was a minor threat, and might have had something useful in that bag if Nate had bothered to rob him. This kind of banditry would probably be common in the early days of the outbreak, when people still hadn't formed big groups and honed their survival instincts.

Then there's the inland bandits, which hang around military installations and other areas that hold more valuable loot. These people tend to be more organized and well-equipped, and often work in groups. But their targets are also better equipped, and as such, choose tactics like traps and ambushes that give them the upper hand. The Save-Lots bandits are sort of like this, although not very well organized. Carver would sort of fit this, but his main objective is to subjugate people, not just rob them, same with the Governor. A serious threat would be a bandit group that could overpower small groups or communities. Alexandria (from the show) seemed to be ripe for this kind of thing; all of the residents were disarmed and they relied entirely on the wall for defense, which would be ineffective against a human opponent.

I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with all of this, but I'm just pointing out some facts and observations.

I had a lot of fun with the first episode. I went into this with zero knowledge of Sam & Max, and I still found it very entertaining. I was having fun just experimenting with the different results of the things I did. One thing this game features is during certain parts you can have dialogue choices from ether Sam or Max. Pic related. I think this would be a very interesting thing to incorporate in a modern telltale game with multiple protagonists. You control the game using the mouse and nothing else, although you can bring up the pause menu with the escape key if you want. It feels a bit weird at first, but it shouldn't be hard to get used to if you played the old Monkey Island games like I have. I'll definitely post more screenshots from my playthrough.

I don't think that's ever been addressed in any aspect of the franchise, and since Kirkman wants it to go on forever, it likely won't ever be revealed for a long time.

I don't read the comics but from what I've seen they do get away with more than the games do. Same with the GoT show and it's Telltale counterpart.

Would banditry and dedicated bandit groups be as common the games depict? I imagine people wouldn't have to resort to it initially given how quickly the Earth depopulates and the overabundance of goods and resources that would be left behind.

>>25773

>How exactly did the infection (the actual infection that guarantees you'll turn, not zombie bites) in TWD spread so quickly on day zero?

>pic

My guess is that it spread quietly for some time until it infected the entire human population and then became active all at once. I doubt it'll ever be explained.

>And how exactly do we know for sure everyone is infected?

This is a little more interesting because I could see the comics tackle the idea of immune people if they keep going long enough. Kirkman would probably have a morbid take on it given how dedicated he is to keeping the franchise so damn nihilistic and grimdark. In that case I hope Telltale would take a more balanced but still tragic approach to the same concept.

>Funny how people made a big deal about GoT and Borderlands having multiple PCs when Sam & Max basically did it years before.

Well outside of when you can choose dialogue from ether Sam or Max you never actually control Max. He wanders around aimlessly during gameplay but it's fine because if he gets in your way Sam just smacks him away and keeps walking to whatever you clicked on.

>I don't think I've ever seen that word used outside of the context of a chan or similar.

I have, since I've interacted with people who actually are autistic.

>you will never watch cartoons with Clementine

>>25781

It's funny how GOT is known for it's nudity yet there isn't any in the Telltale game despite there being tits in TWAU.

>How much of a traditional adventure game would you say it is as opposed to a narrative-heavy adventure game?

It's a completely traditional point and click adventure game, but with a driving segment. There is an overarching plot obviously, but I've only played the first episode so I don't know how heavy the focus is on the story in later episodes yet. For some reason the fourth episode of season 1 is free on Steam, though you'll probably want to avoid spoilers if you're seriously thinking of playing the first season.

>and the overabundance of goods and resources that would be left behind

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this opinion. The only difficulty in scavenging after the ZA is the zombies, but once you find someplace with food, you're set for weeks or even months. It's one of the reasons I often wonder what survivors do in their free time, since I imagine they have a lot of it.

>and then became active all at once

Yeah, that's my theory, too. Never mind that it hardly makes any sense.

It would be cool if there was something specific that made the latent virus activate. Something about the climate or whatever.

Actually no, that would be really lame. The Happening levels of lame.

That is odd now that you mention it. Perhaps TT doesn't think they should risk it in GoT since it's a bigger name than TWAU.

The clearest dreams for me are the lucid ones, since I can consciously control them. The clarity of my non-lucid dreams varies wildly by day, so I sometimes get disorienting weird dreams, too. I just don't tend to remember them as well because they're so outlandish and hard to follow.

I'm not sure, this is a good question. Given enough time, I suppose you might start seeing post-ZA art and music, for example. I don't know how it would be different from things we have now, but it's likely that such a significant event in human history would have some sort of impact. Tangentially to this, how would the ZA change how people think in general?

>How likely do you think it is we'll see any kind of nudity in TWDG?

Unlikely. It made sense in TWAU because we were sort of looking at the underbelly of Fabletown, and it would make sense in GoT because that's just how it is. But outside of some cheesy shower or sex scene, both of which don't really fit TWDG's tone so far, I don't think it's likely.

>there'd be a lot of rape and radiation poisoning

Fallout nukes are actually pretty low yield, and are more similar to dirty bombs than anything. Actual thermonuclear war wouldn't result in as much radioactive fallout as Fallout envisions.

I'd really like to see a postnuclear apocalypse game, but not one like Fallout where the Vaults were there to repopulate. This could turn out pretty similar to TWD, since a nuclear holocaust would kill almost everyone on the planet and there would be small pockets of survivors. Areas of high radiation would act like more permanent area denial than zombie hordes.

>>25820

You mean like a Fallout Fallout game? It could be pseudo-open world, with you traveling to different locations to trigger different parts of the story. Most Fallout games don't really follow a strict linear story, and have ample room to switch up the middle parts of the story.

I think it might turn out similar to the cancelled Fallout movie. I honestly wouldn't mind if they just remade Fallout 1 as an interactive story where you go get the water chip and whatnot.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_film_treatment

Maybe depending on your dialogue choices, you'd gain stats or something, and could make later decisions based on checks against those stats, perhaps with likelihood of success appearing on the choices. Would that be too cumbersome? I think something like that might actually work, it would be a more visible form of your choices' consequences. Do you think that would be good?

>bandits/raiders would be the threat of the game rather than zombies

It's already kinda that way in TWD really. The two series aren't as dissimilar as I initially thought.

>there's no way in hell Telltale would put that much thought and effort into it.

If you break it down, it's really no more complicated than offering dialog choices based on money like in TftB. They could totally pull it off.

However, I suppose it might be a little frustrating to be locked out of certain dialogue choices because of your stats. Then again, that would reinforce the character you've been playing as, and would prevent problems like in S2 where Clem could basically have bipolar disorder.

>>25823

Fallout has plenty of good humor in places that I think TT could emulate pretty well. Like you said, it shares a lot in common with TftB (the humor especially), and the heavier parts would be more like TWD. Fallout does have some pretty dark themes once in a while.

>You're gonna have to explain this to me

Clearly you've never played Fallout New Vegas. In it, there's 3 main factions you can align with. The NCR is the New California Republic, which strives for democracy but is also marred by red tape and corruption. Caesar's Legion is based on the Roman empire, complete with slavery, subservient women, and melee-only weapons. Robert House is like an entrepreneur that would like to control the New Vegas region himself because he believes neither party is suitable. Yes Man is kinda spoilers, but essentially he allows you to take the place of House and control New Vegas yourself independently. This is all phrased in terms of who takes control of the Hoover Dam.

>>25842

I didn't mean to imply anything, I just made that edit for fun. Clem would never join the Legion.

>>25844

Perhaps, but I can also see her working with the NCR to rectify its problems. She would at least want to keep them as close allies.

Nope, haven't played any Fallout games. I just keep finding new ways to embarrass myself now don't I? I think she'd want to run things her own way.

Thankfully I had another dream about Clementine. It's really nice to have another one about her so soon after my last one. We were at Carver's compound, the parking lot was empty, barely any walkers around so the group decided to make a break for it. Someone got left behind just as we were all at the gate. Yeah, there was a gate on the outer perimeter of the parking lot in my dream. Anyway we went back for them and we ended up getting caught by Carver and his gang. Kenny was in his season 1 appearance for some reason and AJ was somehow already born. When we all got back to the camp Carver approached Clementine like he was about to beat her, I intercepted him and was ready to take the beating for her but he literally just slapped me on the wrist and told me to get back to work. One of the other workers asked what did Carver do to me, I told him and he couldn't believe it. I didn't know what work I was supposed to be doing, I looked at some charts for something I didn't understand, but then I realized it looked similar to how kilobytes, megabytes, terabytes, etc. worked, and that gave me confidence that I could do it. Then I wake up because somebody that I live with just couldn't be bothered to wait until I was awake to ask me something.

Especially surprising considering the nature of the Legion. There's mods for that, no doubt.

Speaking of mods, I hope to resume my effort to put Clem in as many games as I can sometime. Maybe sometime in the future, you'll find a FO4 Clementine mod on the Nexus. Check the author name, cause it might be me.

I also gotta do that Clem "simulator" someday. They announced Source 2 free for developers the day after I downloaded UE4 so I'm just gonna wait for that, given my familiarity with Source already.

>>25847

I highly recommend New Vegas. Even Fallout 3 is pretty good in my opinion. They're on sale right now, you might consider picking one or both up. Check the requirements, although on all low settings and with some performance mods, it should run reasonably well.

Interesting how your dreams tend to follow TWD lore whereas mine just completely ignore it, except for that one fixing the car. I suppose that makes sense, since you engage yourself much more in these stories than I seem to be able to.

When you say "group", do you mean the same group we saw in S2, or just some generic group your brain made up to fill in the blanks? That happens a lot to me. If not, who got left behind?

>similar to how kilobytes, megabytes, terabytes, etc. worked

Powers of 2? I use 'em all the time, even when not programming. If I need 15 of something, I'll grab 16. Just something so beautiful about those numbers.

Although I guess if you want to get technical, you didn't specify binary prefixes like kibibytes and mebibytes, so they're not actually powers of 2, they're powers of 10.

 No.25849

>Interesting how your dreams tend to follow TWD lore

I do try to come up with my own stories involving the characters, so that could be the reason why, and I can always use these dreams as inspiration for even more stories. What's interesting to me is that although the things that happen in my dreams make sense, there's never a clear reason for why things happen the way they do. Why was the group able to suddenly leave without any resistance? Why weren't any of the guards shooting at them once they made it outside? Why did Carver only slap my hand when I stopped him from beating Clementine? What's even weirder is that I felt like I knew what was going to happen when the group was in the parking lot, as if I had experienced it before.

>do you mean the same group we saw in S2

Yup, same group. As for who got left behind, it's hard to say. I think it was Sarita but at the same time it looked like she was among everyone else. Even during the dream she seemed to be in two places at once.

Well, if you ever converse with her, I'd like to know what it's like. Because it's strange for me, she seems to have her own thoughts and ideas completely independent of mine, or at least it seems that way to me. For example, she's the one that suggested building a couch fort. I never thought, willed to happen, or suggested that myself. Conversations with her are as interesting as with an actual person since she has her own, different opinions. It really feels as if she's another person inside my head, and this is consistent across both lucid and non-lucid dreams.

Maybe I am turning schizophrenic after all.

Also, that game some other anon suggested by the guy that made Deadly Premonition, D4, is out on PC now.

Then why don't I just go off on a random tangent to see if that's really the reason why noone's posting. I'm probably the most unreasonably forgiving person in this general. There are a lot of characters in TWD games that I don't dislike, despite them being unlikable characters. I don't dislike Ben, Lilly or the St. Johns, and I don't dislike Nick or Mike. Hell I don't even dislike the stranger or Jane. Ben is a fuckup, but he means well, and realizes his mistakes. While I don't like her dad, I don't dislike Lilly because I can at least understand why she is the way she is, and she's actually a little nicer too you if you side with her in the meatlocker. I can't really explain why I don't dislike the St. Johns. Yeah they were cannibals, but could they really be considered bad people without that aspect about them? The stranger did kidnap Clementine, but I also felt bad for him. That doesn't mean I forgvie him for what he did, but still. While Nick is easy to dislike in episode 1, he ends up being too unimportant in the story to really stay mad at. Episode 1 Rebecca is more dislikeable than episode 1 Nick in my opinion. As heartless as it is for Mike to want to abandon 2 kids with no supplies, I can't bring myself to get that mad at him for it. I know I should hate Jane for what she did in the ending alone, but not even that makes me want to hate her. Maybe it's because she wasn't unlikeable before that or because I got the good ending my first time playing or something.

While I can get emotional at times, I do try to think about things rationally, and try to make the best decisions based on what I know. Perhaps, but that wasn't a bad decision in and of itself. One could argue Lilly pulled the trigger on accident in the heat of the moment, just like my controversial opinion that Arvo could have done the same. I guess it just boils down to giving people the benefit of the doubt. But that can turn out pretty dangerous, especially in the ZA.

What about Ben, for example? Do you think he ever redeemed himself for his previous failures? Do you try and look at him objectively say "Okay, he angered the bandits at the motel, didn't protect Clementine, and let the walkers into Crawford" and try to balance those things out with positives? I'm not 100% sure (unless we saw what was going at Telltale during S2's development we'll never truly know) but I think it comes down to two things: one, the bad and inconsistent writing that resulted from having too many weak writers on the project. Clem wasn't the only one afflicted with inconsistent characterization and the overall "plot" was affected by this as well.

Two, I don't think the S2 team had any real idea what to do with Clem's character. S2 only seemed to exist because it "had to" follow up on the success of the first game and judging from interviews the writers are just winging it when it comes to Clem's overall story. It kind of explains the whole #MyClementine meme and the writers' reliance on letting the player "define" Clem's character by making her a sock puppet rather than actually making her fully fleshed out person. This worries me more than anything else and can only hope the trend doesn't continue. I honestly might jump ship otherwise.

Same. Clem continuing to be a canvas we paint our personality on is what'll cause me to quit the series. I don't want #MyClementine, I want Clementine.

 No.25891

>>25890

To be fair to Telltale, I don't think they're going to let the player truly mold and define Clem's character that would require too much work. I think it more likely they're going to continue to give her a fairly bland characterization so she could "realistically" continue to make really inconsistent dialogue choices and decisions and then use a multiple ending choice to decide her fate/arc . Basically similar to what they did with S2.

Again, I don't want this happen and I think there's better ways of doing the whole "define Clem's character" thing TTG is trying to go for but I'd rather they decide themselves what Clem's arc is going to be and make a story around that.

It's okay to make us feel sorry for Clem, but not all the damn time. It fucking sucks living in the ZA and one of the best ways of getting that across is breaking our hearts by putting her in shitty situations. I agree that it's overplayed, though. In S1 there were times when Clem was happy and sad, and our attention was only brought to that fact during selected moments like in the Savannah house.

>>25898

I feel the Forresters are a little different since it's not a singular character, and everyone in House Forrester has their own way of dealing. The desperate situation really made it tempting to forge the letter as Mira and made me really want to get the conversation with Elaena right, for example. With Clem, it's just "Damn, that sucks. I'm sorry you had to go through that." There's nothing else playing into it. If it was phrased in a way that this suffering was a necessary evil, by benefiting AJ or something, then maybe we wouldn't be so sick of it.

You're right, anon. I think the straw that broke the camel's back, at least for me, is when Ep. 5hype started to build and players were tweeting how sad the finale made them feel.

Nevermind TTG failing to let the game itself illicit emotion. They had to have people tell us that more sad shit's gonna happen. Same thing with the "Oh My Darling Clementine" thing, though I actually liked that teaser

Clementonia update. Clem's kingdom now reaches the Portuguese coast and the Strait of Gibraltar. We are finally fighting the French King Henri to install Clem's daughter's husband Nicolas on the throne Aquitania (making up most of the southern half of France). The Everett family has also been getting in the business of bringing Iberia under Clem's righteous rule: her husband, now the Duke of Aragon, conquered the Jimena-controlled lands of Navarra piecemeal and her son, Duke Doug of Granada, is delivering the final blow to the Abbadids. Clementine, now approaching 60, has changed succession laws so her daughter Diana will ascend the throne, setting the next step for the kingdoms of Catalonia, France, and Aquitania to be brought under her granddaughter's rule. We likely won't be able to control all of Iberia before Clem passes but we just might be able to create a new empire title. We just need to accrue a little more prestige and money.

In the mean time, Clementine has also been keeping her house in order. She has the Family focus meaning she'll try to keep relations between family members high. To be honest I don't like it much since this is the only unique event from it I ever see and it's pretty bland. A brief descriptive anecdote would be better. The bonuses are useful at least.

How do you think an adult Clem would try to repair bad relations between members of her group or family?

Usually I'd take a loan from the Jewish community but I actually owe them right now. I'd request cash from the pope in exchange for piety (which I have a ton of thanks to all those holy wars) but the last pope ruined his realm's finances on a failed crusade. So I pretty much have to rely on my monthly vassal tax which is actually really good right now, and loot from successfully sieging French castles.

It is. This is a game where Satan can cuck you and leave you with the Antichrist as your heir and your lesbian wives can commit suicide by riding off a cliff together.

It's an option but I always roleplay my characters a little in this game and I don't feel like that's something my medieval Clem would do. Plus I'd lose prestige which I need to create my new empire title.

>What

There's an event tree where two of your wives bang and decide they like each better than you. Chasing them results in pic related. CK2 has the best events. I've never gotten the Antichrist event tree unfortunately.

Unique random events have been weirdly and disappointingly sparse this playthrough. The only interesting ones that fired are Clem hooking up with and grooming her hot bodyguard and getting and raising her puppy if you don't count all the failed hunts. That all happened when she was in her late teens and twenties. I just checked and I saw her husband has the 'Gates of Hell' flag which is a great event tree but we can only see it if Clem has it.

I actually immediately thought of Fiona when I saw that image.

I didn't want you to do it, but it's pretty funny that you can. In a non-anti-Semitic way, of course.

>I could see people complaining about the dialogue options coming too fast

That would be a lame excuse. The pause function exists, people could just use that.

I think quick choices are among the most fun, since they force you to weigh your options very quickly and sometimes leave you regretting a decision. A whole segment of that would be a huge overload, but in a good way. It might fit a game like TftB best, perhaps as a quarrel between Fiona and Sasha. It wouldn't even have to affect much, it would just have to be fun to play and maybe even funny.

>>25912

This is something IRL that bothers me. I find it really sad that parents get separated and subject the kid to such a life. It's hard for me to believe that two people that had a kid together can't find it within themselves to get along for the sake of that kid and seems pretty selfish.

Perhaps I'm just being naive.

Also, that thing about hating the tree house ticked me off. It's like they wrote that line just for kicks. I suppose Clementine may think the tree house is kinda lame, but she clearly doesn't hate it. It even shows up in her flashback with the raccoon. And don't say it brings back bad memories of the ZA, because she was hiding in it when Lee showed up. If things like that bothered her, she would've ditched the bloody hat, the photo, etc.

 No.25914

>>25913

>that thing about hating the tree house ticked me off.

I feel like it was supposed to be played for laughs. The delivery of the line, the delay before she says it, made it seem like it was supposed to be funny. But I don't think anyone laughed at it, and in fact most people seemed to think it was out of character for her.

 No.25915

Well, she was hiding up in there for a few days. She probably grew to hate it in that time.

 No.25916

>>25914

You mean funny in the way that she shut Luke down? I certainly didn't get that impression. Even if the delivery was a little better, I still don't think I would've understood that. The line, "I've done this before, remember? In a shed…" accomplishes something similar, is actually somewhat humorous, makes sense in context, and doesn't ruin a little piece of Clem's character in the process.

>>25915

She might have hated that situation, but she would still have good fond memories of it. That would be like saying she hated the Marsh house because of the Stranger. She still had a good time during her family vacations there. If they truly wanted to go that route, she should have said something along the lines of "I had a tree house once… I'd rather not think about it."

 No.25917

The game does at least punish you for expelling Jews out of your realm and they eventually come back.

>It's hard for me to believe that two people that had a kid together can't find it within themselves to get along for the sake of that kid and seems pretty selfish

Speaking as a someone who's parents got separated yeah it sucks but it also sucks living under a shitty unstable marriage. Some marriages just can't be fixed and their continuation can create terrible situations at home.

>>25915

Even so that line still felt … fanfiction-y? Like the writer pulled it out his ass. It's a minor issue but in hindsight it seems symptomatic of the way S2 Clem was written.

With season 2's multiple endings it's hard to say what season 3 will be about. We'll get a clearer idea once the DLC is out. I do have some ideas for what season 3 could be like, for example, multiple protagonists based on what ending you got.

Being a child of divorced parents beats being a child of married parents who hate each other all day, every day. Sometimes divorce is for the best. Especially if the parents are mature about it.

>>25912

The change is too fucking jarring. I get that 16 months is very long time for someone so young, but she's almost unrecognizable. I think that her character would have been better off if she wasn't the protagonist. The development just didn't feel organic at all.

 No.25921

>>25920

Unless S1 had a different ending, there's no way she couldn't have been the protagonist. Either you'd have to play as a different surviving character such as Christa and Omid, who not only have their own set characters but some players don't like them and wouldn't want to play as them OR play as a new character, which wouldn't work as you will know the ins and outs of what happened to Clem before the new character would actually meet her, so you can see why it's not an option for Telltale.

TL;DR Telltale wrote themselves into a corner

 No.25922

>>25921

Yeah. I suppose there's a more elegant solution than having a different protagnoist. Take Lee for example, he had a set personality, what you could influence was his set of values and how he deals with others. The same could have been done with Clem. Also, the game decided to ignore her age way too quickly. It's really awkward watching an eleven year old knock down doors and being asked for advice and leadership by adults.

 No.25923

>>25917

>what do you think the plot of S3 will be about?

Well, if the DLC does what many of us are expecting and ties up S2's endings, my best guess is that it will at least start at Wellington. From there, it could tackle a variety of issues of a large community like social/political unrest, disease, rivalry with another community, etc. I wouldn't at all be surprised if Wellington eventually fell. Perhaps it's already in its death throes at the end of S2, it's just not plainly visible.

If they go this route, I at least hope TT will have the decency to make Wellington last several episodes. TWD doesn't always have to be about nomadic groups, some of the best bits of the TV show are at the prison.

>>25920

Has the show really gotten that bad? Or is it just because you're a stickler for the books?

>The change is too fucking jarring

I suppose I'm in the minority here when I say that if it was toned down a little, and we got some more backstory with Christa about the things Clem might've been put through to make her that way, I might have been okay with it. The timeskip is what makes it so jarring, and it just feels lazy.

I don't think another protagonist would have helped. A big problem I think is that the S2 team looked at the story and thought things needed to happen one after the other. Get to Howe's? Okay, now we gotta get out. Rob Arvo? He comes back with his friends immediately after, no time for insecurity and fear to brew among the group. S1 took place over several months but it never lessened the impact of events that did happen. What if instead of a big timeskip with Christa, we got a gradual series of smaller timeskips, with important, playable events interspersed that helped characterize Clem? Would that feel too disjointed?

I guess you two are right about the divorce thing. I just wish it wasn't so commonplace.

 No.25924

>>25921

I'm saying this now because we got a season 2 where Clem is the protagonist and it sucks, but I think season 2 could've worked with someone else as the protagonist. I'll explain once we're in the new thread.

>>25923

>What if instead of a big timeskip with Christa, we got a gradual series of smaller timeskips, with important, playable events interspersed that helped characterize Clem?

I think that would be preferable, even if it did feel disjointed. Hell maybe it could've worked if the entirety of the season was not one continuous narrative, but rather the sporadic telling of important events in Clem's life. It would be incredibly limited of course because they can't go past the comic in timeline, but it still could've been better than what we got.

 No.25925

>Has the show really gotten that bad? Or is it just because you're a stickler for the books?

Bit of both. Jaime randomly raping Cersei after his redemption arc last season almost made me quit, but the episode that's coming up tonight finally did it for me. It's out of character, it's gratuitous and edgy as fuck… you'll probably see soon enough.

>The timeskip is what makes it so jarring, and it just feels lazy.

I agree, the timeskip was a huge issue. And as you said, the fast pace of S2 didn't help at all. The multiple time skips idea could work, provided that there was enough time to develop the characters and relationships between those time skips. Then again, S2's story might have worked too if they gave us enough time and interactions between the events.

Anyway, I feel like I'm not making much sense anymore, so I'm going to bed. Have fun.

The problem wasn't so much that she was the protagonist as the writers just fucking up.

>>25921

I'm still baffled by the people who think we're going to play as Christa in S3.

>>25923

>S1 took place over several months but it never lessened the impact of events that did happen.

One neat thing about S1 is that the amount of time between each consecutive episode was shortened as a way of gradually ramping up the pacing and tension. It's part of what made the ending of episode 4 and and beginning of episode 5 so goddamn tense.

Ep.1 - Ep.2 = three months

Ep.2 - Ep.3 = couple weeks

Ep.3 - Ep.4 = less than 24 hours

Ep.4 - Ep.5 = immediately

Compare that to S2 where almost every episode ends on a sudden cliffhanger and begins in media res. The pacing was janky as hell and got especially awkward at the beginning of episode 4.

>What if instead of a big timeskip with Christa, we got a gradual series of smaller timeskips, with important, playable events interspersed that helped characterize Clem? Would that feel too disjointed?

That would've been interesting. Like we spend the first half of the season playing as little Clem and watch her slowly become the hardboiled S2 Clem, giving her an actual arc. I actually wanted all future seasons to do something like this until Clem became an adult but of course that's impossible with the time constraint.
