>Expected release date for GOT finale?

>Expected release date for TFTB finale?

October. Telltale's made a big deal that it's gong to be a "mega month" so I feel that's a safe bet to make.

>What do you think of the BttF remaster?*

Not much. It's probably a fine game but I've never had interest in it.

>Will you buy/pirate Michonne?*

>Will you buy/pirate Minecraft?*

I'll youtube them first, see if their worth getting.

>Are you hyped for TWD Show S6?*

Not a big fan of the show but I do enjoy making fun of watching it with you guys so yeah.

>Is there any way you'd get interested in Minecraft?

If it had LiS's big, highly-interactive hubs and the humor and charm of the Ghostbusters and Goonies movies Telltale's been constantly comparing it to. Also an option to change that awful "art style".

I finally got around to playing Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments that an anon suggested to me several months back.

After you investigate every case, you can come to one of several conclusions. I thought this was neat, and since I had to do all of the work investigating, I really felt the weight of my decisions. I sat at the deductions screen for quite a while trying to decide the right choice. Imagine my surprise that on top of making the choice of who to accuse, you also make a moral choice that will decide the fate of the accused. There is technically a "right" choice of who to accuse, but the moral choice is totally up to the player.

Additionally, it was entirely possible to half-ass the investigation and accuse the first person you could. I obviously didn't do that, but you could if you wanted to.

I think this is multiple endings done right. Of course, it's hard to translate this to Telltale's format, but I just know that I'd like to feel more reasoning behind them. Not Sherlock-tier reasoning, but at least something more than an arbitrary choice of whether to click one option or another. I also really liked the two-tier choice system, first of who to accuse, and second of how to decide their fate.

That would be me. I've never actually played it but the game sounds super cool from your post. It sounds like what TWAU could've been; a big problem with that game is that it didn't matter if you "solved" the crime or not and the villain just straight up tells you the answer.

Thanks for streaming.

The CG boat was amazing. It was almost worth all the boring "build up".

No wonder the military in TWD fell; It's staffed by a bunch of incompetent fucks who can't shoot for shit or spot the location of a giant horde until it's under their nose.

 No.28730

>>28729

To be fair, security was probably lax because they had cleared out all the undead in the area and things were safe. They didn't count on having their shit fucked up by a barber.

 No.28731

>>28730

I don't think there's anyway the actual military would take their eyes off the surrounding area because they think it's "safe". Beyond the having better, more meticulously guarded checkpoints into their base they'd have sentry points all over the demilitarized zones to spot any suspicious activity and keep up their intelligence. That's how they'd make sure the those areas are safe.

The army fell victim to idiot ball because that's really the only way these organizations can fall completely apart in zombie fiction, especially TWD.

I hope it's soon.

S2 wasn't great and I don't have high hopes for S3, but as long as Clem is involved, I will be involved as well.

I might actually try out the Michonne series eventually, maybe not, I don't know. She was a character I liked in the TV series, but I've started to disagree with her views recently. If the game is about Comic Michonne, then I will certainly not be as invested.

I meant to attend the stream of FtWD but I started drinking early with my brothers (football) and fell asleep.

Honestly the choices part hasn't really made a huge impact, but that might be because the first case is there to get your feet wet. I guess I'll find out the more I play

>The CG boat was amazing.

I went through a lot of trouble to make this webm "remotely", but it was totally worth it.

 No.28736

>>28733

>S2 wasn't great and I don't have high hopes for S3, but as long as Clem is involved, I will be involved as well.

I'm kind of in the same boat. S2 greatly deteriorated my investment in Clem but not enough to make me drop the series while she's still in it. In fact I'd be pissed if they abandoned her despite me knowing her character will likely never fully recover from the damage it received in S2 and will probably suffer further derailment in future seasons.

>If the game is about Comic Michonne, then I will certainly not be as invested.

It is.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06/15/e3-2015-the-walking-dead-michonne-miniseries-announced

>The story for The Walking Dead: Michonne "explores her untold journey during the time between issues #126 and #139," Telltale Games explained. This puts the beginning of the three-episode series right at the end of the All Out War arc, in which Grimes' crew finally overcomes the despicable Negan.

>>28735

>"remotely"

What does that mean?

 No.28737

>Fear The Walking Dead: Flight 462

That's why they showed that CGI plane.

>>28729

And they were shooting BBs.

>>28731

>really the only way these organizations can fall completely apart

I disagree. The military can easily get weakened (there were even hints of it in the show) and fall apart because the soldiers want to see their family, have disagreements, are dying one by one, etc. I was totally expecting FTWD to go that route and was very disappointed it was just "lel big zombie horde". It felt rushed and it would've been great if there were a few more episodes to wrap it up like that.

>>28736

>I'd be pissed if they abandoned her

We've discussed before that TWDG is essentially about Clem's survival. The point of S1 was essentially to protect her (as Lee), and S2 was just sort of faffing about but still about her. Would you be okay if she "passed the torch" to someone? AJ, presumably, but it wouldn't necessarily be him.

And don't limit yourself to S3, either. Maybe it's not really plausible that it would happen in S3, but rather waaaaay in the future in S4 or 5 when we're all 40 years old.

>What does that mean?

I had to make the webm blindly with time codes on the streaming server since I don't have a local copy.

 No.28738

>>28737

>Would you be okay if she "passed the torch" to someone?

You mean shift focus to another character? I'm not sure. To me TWDG as a series is ideally about Clem and would end when her story did. If she passed the torch to AJ or whoever it would be at the very end of the series as a an act of closure. Telltale could make a sequel/spin-off series if they felt so compelled as long as they nicely wrapped up Clementine's journey. Of course I'm saying this as if there's a chance that'll happen.

That said I've always liked the idea AJ's role increasing in importance as the series went on, to the point of becoming playable along side Clem. Sort of like how in the Last of Us Ellie got increasingly more playtime as the game progressed.

Am I the only one that's gotten increasingly bitter about S2 even though I've known it to be a bad game for quite some time? The more I look back on it the more I realize not only how rotten it actually is but how fatal a blow it is to the series and the foundation S1 laid for it. I had some hope for the future of the TWDG before but now I think that, even if S3 turns out much better than S2, Telltale has totally botched it's chance fully realizing the potential of both the series and Clementine.

Similarly S2 pretty much destroyed any fatherly feelings or concern I'd of had for post-S1 Clementine. I honestly now wish she wasn't playable in S2 now knowing Telltale would fuck up her character that badly.

>>28741

>It sucks that the series isn't as good as it could have been, but I'd still like to be pleasantly surprised by an enjoyable Season 3.

I'm not sure how "good" the rest of the series could possibly be now after S2 derailed it and how much Telltale has changed since S1. I see it probably ending up like the TV show or the comics, mediocre but still stringing it's audience along with fanservice and promises it'll get better next season. Would that even be worth sticking around for?

 No.28767

Actually, before I reply to any posts I'd like to explain the situation to you guys. I'm on a new computer so I'm gonna spend the next few days reacquiring the programs I lost, then I'll be looking for a job. There's also another TF2 event going on right now, and Clementine's birthday is soon too, so I have a lot on my plate. About advertisements, I think this month is the best time for us to advertise since it's Telltale's "mega month". I'll try to have an ad ready by Monday so it can be put up by the time Minecraft comes out. I think /v/, /co/, and /tv/ are suitable enough boards for advertising.

Finally, since I'm on a new computer, I lost all of my /ttgg/ and related images. If you anons could be so kind as to pack all of your images into a zip or rar archive and upload it somewhere for me to download, I'd really appreciate that. Both 4chan & 8chan archives are down, so you guys are my only hope for this. I understand that putting so many images into one archive would result in a large file size, so if your internet connection doesn't allow you to upload large files, don't worry about it.

>>28768

>Oh god you're right, I never thought of that before.

It's really suggestive that many of S2's worst missteps don't come from the writers but from the execs and producers making absurd demands of them. I mean the S1 team wrote 400 Days and it turned out bad due the problems listed. Hell, the whole thing was likely the higher-up's idea to begin with; it certainly seems like Vanaman and the others didn't care all that much.

>for some reason I'm still invested in Clementine's character despite how much Telltale ruined her in season 2.

Same. I know the real Clementine, the Clem that should've been, is effectively gone after S2 and no amount of retroactive writing in future episodes (short of an actual S2 revamp) is going to bring her back in tact, but I still feel strangely compelled to see S2 "Clem's" story through. Honestly, I'm sticking to the series mainly for /ttgg/ now. I couldn't keep my eyes off the trainwreck anyway so I'd prefer to watch it with you guys.

>Remember that title card. It could change by the time we get the episode.

Funny, I was thinking the same.

>Oh god, that one anon's prediction might actually come true.

Which prediction?

>Do you think that had an influence on making Jane the replacement for Luke?

No, I think Luke being a shitty, useless character is what influenced their decision to replace him with Jane. He was probably never intended to be significant character in the first place based on what I've learned.

Dropbox or Mega.nz

>Which prediction?

That Rhys & Fiona were lying to the stranger about everything the whole time.

>He was probably never intended to be significant character in the first place based on what I've learned.

What did you learn? Luke seemed like a pretty important character to me. He got more screentime than anyone else in the cabin group, and they foreshadowed a conflict between him and Kenny. I think originally they were gonna have a choice of who to save rather than a choice to kill Kenny, but when they decided to replace Luke with Jane, the changed it to the situation we got since Luke wouldn't pretend to kill a baby to get on Kenny's bad side, and it's much easier to make a woman look like the victim in that situation than another man.

>What did you learn? Luke seemed like a pretty important character to me.

I'll elaborate on this a bit later but I heard it suggested he wasn't even supposed to be a character until Scott Porter showed up. The evidence is circumstantial but it all adds up imo; Luke exists purely as a vehicle for Porter and cannibalized other character's roles in order to exist in the script, getting a ton of screentime while doing absolutely nothing of importance with it.

I don't think there was even supposed to be final confrontation scene in the original script, at least not before it was decided Kenny would be added to the cast.

Totally random question btw but have you kept up with FTWD?

Thanks dude. I hope other anons will come through for me as well.

>Luke stuff

Do you have a link or source for this? Behind the scenes stuff on season 2 is hard to find, at least for me. It kinda falls in line with what Kenny's voice actor said about how it was always supposed to end with Kenny vs. Jane, though personally I think he was just told that to cover up the fact that it was obviously changed from Kenny vs. Luke. If it's true however that it was always supposed to be Kenny vs. Jane, then that makes the writing in season 2 even worse. They should've never had a build up between Kenny and Luke in the first place, and this means that they had the idea from the start and never thought to change it rather than making it up on the spot and leaving it that way because the episode was rushed.

>have you kept up with FTWD?

Yes, I watched it on TV even though I couldn't attend the streams. It took five episodes, but it finally got interesting. The finale however, while exciting, was very flawed. I actually read a few threads about it on 4chan /tv/ before my computer went kaput, people were actually defending it because "TWD has always been about the characters not the zombies". What these people don't seem to understand is that the show overemphasizes the focus on the characters to the point where the show has basically nothing to do with zombies. You can replace the zombie apocalypse with any other type of apocalypse and it would change nothing until the last episode where someone in the main cast gets bit and has to be put down.

>If it's true however that it was always supposed to be Kenny vs. Jane

I'm honestly wondering if there was even supposed to be a final confrontation in the first place. "First place" as in the original script. The whole thing feels so slapdash I wouldn't be surprised they come up with it while they were producing the last episode. Add in Luke and probably Kenny not even supposed to be the original story and the whole idea looks suspect.

>205MB

By /ttgg/ standards that's pretty shameful.

I think it was more an issue of the plot taking forever to get to the zombies; the show could've cut out a couple episodes and told essentially the same story more effectively.

>Exhibit A: Earlier this month, The Walking Dead issued a casting notice for the role of “Orin,” an imposing, charismatic, brutal, frightening, ferocious and hilarious sociopath in his 30s to mid 40s that is both a leader (and killer) of men. The character would first appear in Season 6’s 16th episode (AKA the finale) and be back (likely as a series regular) for subsequent seasons.

>Exhibit B: When asked if “Orin” is actually “Negan,” showrunner Scott M. Gimple replied to TVLine, “I can neither confirm nor deny,” before cheekily adding, “It’s not the worst guess in the world. It’s difficult to get around your logic here.”

Very close. The comics provide free plotlines for the show to adapt. The divergences are in the "details", not so much the overall story.

>I maintain that even if Michonne turns out to be good, it doesn't mean season 3 will be.

Oh, I agree. I for one found 400 days to be fairly enjoyable for what it was. But the brevity, and the "cinematic" streamlined storytelling isn't fit for anything other than these short stories we got in 400 days. Making S2 the same way was a mistake.

I'm just saying that we should pay attention to the gameplay, how they handle the choices and characters, their cinematography, and stuff like that, as it will likely hint at what we can expect out of season 3.

>>28770

>It's really suggestive that many of S2's worst missteps don't come from the writers but from the execs and producers making absurd demands of them.

I still think that the S2 writers could have been a lot better regardless of the constraints that were placed on them, but yeah, 90 minutes, no puzzles, and the "cinematic experience" was a decision made by execs. I remember a forum post that was going around on 4chan where a dev explains that they wanted their games to be more accessible to normies who just don't have the time to play a several hour long episode and get super invested in the story, or be frustrated by a puzzle. And that it should be a quick pop of entertainment and thrills like the episode of the TV show. Sadly I didn't save it. That said, I don't think any of that excuses poor writing.

>Anyway, I'm willing to believe that Luke was tacked on for their B lister, mainly because of how bland and pointless he was, but on the other hand, everyone in the cabin group was pointless

They were but as is pointed out in the link they all had hints of greater roles and actual arcs that were cut out of the original script. The point is Luke was a worthless "celebrity" vehicle and all the precious screen-time he wasted could've been used to flesh out the other CG members as was originally planned.

>But the brevity, and the "cinematic" streamlined storytelling isn't fit for anything other than these short stories we got in 400 days

Honestly I don't think it was fit for 400 Days either; there simply wasn't enough time for me to get to know or like almost any of the characters and all but one of the segments felt like random scenarios rather than proper self–contained stories. If really should've been a miniseries.

>I still think that the S2 writers could have been a lot better regardless of the constraints that were placed on them

Oh I agree but I also think the restraints and demands made by the higher-ups ruined the original plans the writers had for S2 and doomed the project. The S1 team couldn't have saved it.

>I remember a forum post that was going around on 4chan where a dev explains that they wanted their games to be more accessible to normies who just don't have the time to play a several hour long episode and get super invested in the story, or be frustrated by a puzzle. I just finished watching a playthrough of Minecraft. I really can't get into it. I like the characters to an extent, and the story isn't exactly bad, but it feels like they could've told it any other way, and it didn't really need to be a Minecraft game. It has elements from Minecraft itself, and I think they're incorporated well, but for the most part it didn't feel to me like this is a story that could only be set in the Minecraft universe. The music is nice, but I find it unfitting, maybe because of the look of the game. This game, or at least this episode of this game, is also the most where you can actually walk around in the environment in a Telltale game since episode 2 of TFTB. There's even an actual puzzle at the end that can take awhile to complete. Dave Fennoy's voice performance is underwhelming for me. I think he may have held back since this is a kid's game so he may have not felt the need to put the same amount of effort he would into anything else. The performance of Axel's voice actor also came off as flat to me. Overall it's better than what I expected but it left no impression on me and I find it really bland. Not bad, just bland.

I think Minecraft could've turned out better if it wasn't so serious. I didn't have high hopes for this game, but I though it would be at least a fast paced, fun, lighthearted adventure. Instead the writing is just as serious as anything else Telltale has made recently, with no humor or funny moments, not even puns. TFTB has more humor, and aside from Noone will remember this, nothing in the game even made me chuckle. Basically, it's a kids game being written as if it were a game for adults.

I also wouldn't mind seeing a return to Telltale's old formula here, with some choice based mechanics where appropriate. Point & click adventure games are about, well the adventure, and seeing as how exploration plays a huge role in Minecraft's gameplay, I think it would've been better if Story Mode played more like a traditional point & click adventure game.

Seems like it's Telltale's biggest flop to date for this place. People here seem to give even less of a shit about it than GOT. I still haven't finished watching the episode. I started losing interest when it became clear to me what kind of game this was. It's not terrible but it's inoffensive and bland which is kind of worse in a way. I guess it had to be if Telltale wanted it to sell.

I sort of separate S2 Clem into two different characters in my head. The first is the way she was written in S2 and the one I don't like. The second is how I wish she'd turned out, a more natural and logical progression from S1 Clem. There's some cognitive dissonance and retconning involved but I still really want to love her character even after how much it's been derailed. At least there's always S1 Clem.

That was kinda what bugged me. I have never played Minecraft, but from what I understand its fanbase mostly consists of a bunch of autistic people making really stupid complicated shit. I feel like it should have been more self aware. Maybe taken more ques from the Lego Movie or something. That was something for kids that actually managed to be funny.

I liked the customizable main character, at least, even though the male and female Jesse don't really seem to alter the game that much as far as I can tell.

But…yeah…I was really unimpressed with the writing.

Oh man, this fuckin' finale. I know we already said this is the best thing they've done since season 1 of TWD, but this finale cements it. It's nice to see that telltale can still make a good game when they care enough.

I like how they didn't shy away from lampshading the likely dropped plot of Zer0 looking for the Gortys too.

 No.29014

I don't really care about the Borderlands main series but I do wonder much impact Tales will have on a sequel. For a spin-off game it changed a lot about its source material's universe.

 No.29015

I wonder, how does Tales compare to the rest of the Borderlands series? Would someone who's played all the games say that TFTB is better than the others? I know it's hard to compare because they're completely different kinds of games, but still…

 No.29016

>>29014

I'd imagine TellTale had to get the Okay from Gearbox in order to make such huge changes. I remember reading an article posted here a while back that said something to the effect of TellTale came to Gearbox with a plan, but gearbox nixxed the idea and said they already had plans for the franchise they were welcome to expand on for tales so as to keep it canon without having alternate timelines/universes. Assuming this hasn't changed, it sets up a great BL3, unless they want TellTale to make a season 2 first.
