Pic related

>>Favorite part of the episode?*

Mighty Morphing Vault Hunter Gortyszord

>>Are you hopeful for a sequel?*

Yes, I'm just wondering if BL3 or TftBL S2 will come first. I'd imagine BL3 since TellTale's got a lot on it's plate already.

>Thoughts on the TFTB finale/the game as a whole?*

Way better than I expected it to ever be. I was prepared for the worst, and this wound up right up there with TWD S1 in my opinion.

I actually thought of that when that scene happened. Speaking of which, why does Telltale have such a hard-on for scenes like that? First with Lee cutting his arm off, then Clementine stitching up her arm, then Bigby fixing his arm, and I think even GOT had something like that with Rodrik.

Or Telltale just loves calling back to TWDG in every game it's made afterwards.

For anyone who saved Yvette how does that change the later half of the episode? Also, what happens if you aren't able to hire 3 people, or any at all somehow?

 No.29056

>>29055

You can still choose to have Yvette die if you release her from the prison cell. She doesn't do much if she lives, but she is there when you take on the vault monster.

I'll finish my separate playthrough tonight to see what happens if you don't have enough members for a full team. I assume the game just forces some default choices on you even if it doesn't make any sense.

 No.29057

>>29055

Huh, I don't know. I guess we'd have to figure out which choices lock off each character. I believe Athena comes no matter what, regardless of whether or not you get her married. Cassius is determinant based on if you stop Athena from trying to kill him, Janey probably won't come if you don't launch Scooters satellite, you can't get the money for Claptrap if you kill Felix… Not sure how the hell you recruit Zero though.

I believe August won't help you if you blame him for the mess of the deal when Vallory asks, but i'm not too sure. Who else is there?

What is wrong with you people? She's literally "the australian lesbo" who never shuts the fuck up about her lesbianism constantly reminding you in case you forget for one second she's into girls. That's all there is to her, and it was exactly the same as in the pre-sequel which I only played briefly but received high dosages of Janey.

 No.29064

>>29063

I chose Janey because I wanted the characters that were most closely related to the main cast. I chose Felix but since he doesn't come with you anyway, I decided on Springs because she's the girlfriend of Athena, who trained Fiona.

Am I the only one who thought it was bullshit when Sasha was saved by the deus ex machina? They should have either had her definitively die or escape. Just mreh.

Overall, I thought that was a great ending… even if what exactly was inside the Vault was never made entirely clear. I was hoping that, at the very end of it all, the Vault would be nothing, or something that neither of them knows what to do with. Just having them get teleported is too vague for my tastes.

I'm sure it'll be explained in the next season/dlc. Though I suppose it makes sense, it's a teleporting vault with a teleporting monster. Besides, we've never seen actual treasure in any of the vaults, just what the monster drops. The first vault was a tentacle monster, the pre-sequel vault was knowledge and the third was a controllable monster.

That whole sequence felt pointless and a little too convenient. I know they needed a scene where Sasha sees her father's gift and realize he still cared about her but they didn't try to tug player's heartstrings by faking out her death for no reason.

I enjoyed episode 5 quite a bit, just finished it tonight. Chose Athena, Cassius, and August. I was happy with those options. I'd have chosen Zer0 over Athena but apparently I never said I was a vault hunter to anybody so he wasn't down for that shit.

I shot the fuck out of Felix so he was dead and couldn't come along. And lord knows I wasn't going to pick Burch's Australian lesbian fantasy.

I assume those conversations were literally all he did, because everything else was entirely too enjoyable to be penned by the king of cucks.

Also having Rhys and Fiona teleport away before a credit cut was fucking lame. I know it's to be expected considering teleportation seems to be this vault's thing, but it's really the sort of cliffhangery 'we're leaving this open for now' bullshit that I didn't want TT to pull because I can't trust them with sequels.

All in all, 7/10, bretty gud for a Telltale game.

Okay, so I redid the TFTB finale last night on a separate playthrough, and it turns out the conditions for which a person joins you change if you end up making choices that result in you not having enough people for a full team. For example, I blamed August for the deal going wrong in episode 3, but because I didn't shoot him in episode 1, I could still pick him. I didn't tell Janey that Athena said she loved her, but I could still pick Athena because I trained under her. So it seems that regardless of your choices, you'll always be able to pick the minimum of three characters. Also, this might seem random, but I find it odd that you can't pick Shade or Tector for your team. Then again they're not vault hunters and didn't do much.

>>29074

Wow, they were trying real hard to convince people that your choices matter in this game. I'm guessing none of the actors and actresses never actually played they game or were paid to say that shit.

>>29075

I knew it was gonna happen when I saw what the watch said. I wouldn't call it a deus ex machina, more like Felix had thought of everything. Something similar happens in Tales of Monkey Island, but I can't really explain it or why it's not a deus ex machina in that case either without spoilers.

>>29080

Burch also wrote pic related. It's determinant dialogue but it's very jarring. If it said "sexism" rather than "misogynism" it would've been less painful and obvious that it was written by Burch.

I suppose one thing I can mention that confused the fuck out of me, is in the final episode when Rhys sees Sasha again, in my first playthrough I was nice to Sasha, gave her the flower and everything, and when they meet again she hugs Vaughn. In my second playthrough, I didn't like Sasha, didn't trust Fiona at the end of episode 2, didn't give Sasha the flower, etc. and she hugs Rhys. I don't get it, is this a glitch? Or was it done on purpose? As a joke?

 No.29090

I'd like to hope it was a joke, but knowing Telltale and their engine…? It was probably a glitch.

I haven't forgotten, anon.

>>29080

I had roughly the same choices as you, except I chose Janey instead of Cassius. I knew I was sort of in for some eye-rolling parts by picking Janey, but whatever. It wasn't as annoying as I thought it might be. Also, she had a pretty cool attack in the giant fight sequence. I should make webms of those one day, if I can get saves for all of the characters.

Also, I really felt like they pushed the Telltale engine to the limit with this episode. I'm not entirely sure if janky/mistimed animations and stuttering was due to Telltale's incompetence at animating, or that the engine just couldn't handle it.

>>29075

Yeah, I think it was a little bit of a cop-out. They were this close to making it good, though, and what I mean by that is the little health icons. They could have totally just used one of the various healing mechanics from the actual Borderlands games and it would have fit way better.

>I knew I was in for some eye-rolling parts by picking Janey, but whatever.

I just figured the less Burch the better, I can almost immediately tell when he's involved because the writing takes a harsh dip as soon as he takes the reigns for a scene.

>I'm not entirely sure if janky animations and stuttering was due to Telltale's incompetence at animating or the engine just couldn't handle it.

Probably a mix of both. To my knowledge TT is a pretty small team and the engine itself just wasn't really built for fluid action sequences, the stuttering has more to do with how they render scenes than anything. They load up the whole set of assets in a scene rather than the way other games do it, by deleting things when you're not looking at them to make the game have to render less.

The fight scene was pretty awesome though, it was nice to see my choices actually kind of affect something tangible for once, and if Telltale has improved in any place it's presentation.

>>29099

Microsoft money, it's also the game they've put the least amount of effort into so far. And that's really saying something considering it's a TT game.

Webm very much related.

 No.29109

Was anyone disappointed with Episode 5?

I hate to say that I was. There was a lot of reasons on why. I thought that writing and pacing was off. A lot of things didn't make any sense. But the number one reason is the gay jokes and queer baiting.

I am a non-binary person who is attracted to both women and men. I have a lot of conflict with that especially since identifying as a man and liking men is rough.

Rhys, Vaughn, And Handsome Jack were very close to my heart. I deeply appreciate the fact that there was a heavy implication that Rhys and Handsome Jack were gay/bi sexual or pan-sexual. And A LOT of people felt the same way. I thought it was very brave of Telltale and Gearbox to put homosexual themes in their games. I also thought it was great Athena and Janey are getting married.

However, Episode 5 rubbed me the wrong way. I couldn't help but get the feeling that all of the male homosexuality was just a huge joke. Like being a gay man is hilarious or evil? Which is toxic.

I can't tell you in words how much it hurts. It broke my heart that we got an option to romance Sasha or Fiona and not Vaughn. I mean, I know it's a long stretch. I knew the chances of two men together was slim, but when game developers do queer baiting it's devastating. We see this CONSTANTLY in entertainment. Male homosexuality is always used as mockery or to devalue human beings. I just didn't think Telltale would do it, too.

Did anyone else feel the same way?

Rhys starts lower and raises higher, he's also a bit of a goof and starts and ends the story the same way.

Fiona goes from a sketchy con artist to a bit more of a generic hero. She's your standard capable female protagonist and doesn't really have any room to grow throughout the events of the game.

Your dream sounds cool. I had a dream about being a bandit raiding Lee's group once. It was pretty weird.

And yeah, the Zer0 thing is pretty random. Still, it's nice that your choices kind of mattered. It's a shame that you apparently can't fuck up the whole getting the squad together thing. Also, I noticed that the decisions that affect whether they want to help or not are all Fiona's. Not sure why that is, but I thought it was interesting.

>>29112

Rhys has more of an arc, he is also more of a bumbling average Joe kind of figure while Fiona is a pretty standard action protagonist, so people tend to relate to him more. Plus, his personality and the fish out of the water thing provide a more fertile ground for comedy than anything Fiona has going on.

That said, I still liked Fiona, but it took more time for her to grow on me.

For some reason I had a save system in my dream, so if I wasn't happy with the outcome of events, I would reload my save which would take me back to an earlier point in time which would hopefully allow for a better outcome. We had a long talk about what we were gonna do/how we were gonna get out of the building. Eventually a zombie with a chainsaw managed to break free and we had no idea how to deal with it. I reloaded my save which took me all the way back to when they were talking about what to do. I was a little pissed that I had to sit through that again, but now I could plan ahead and think of a way to deal with the chainsaw zombie. While hiding from him/looking for something to kill him with, he saw me but decided to ignore me for some reason. I was confused but decided not to take any chances and hide better from him. I hid under the bed of the room I was in and after some time I woke up. In hindsight, we all probably could've just hid from him until he ran out of fuel and he didn't seem to know how to use the chainsaw anyway.

For those of you don't know Glassdoor is a website where employees (current and former) publicly rate and review their employers. Some of the reviews (the ones with the most 'helpfuls') left by Telltale employees is eye-opening stuff and would seem to confirm many of our suspicions about Telltale management and what's gone on behind-the-scenes, especially during TWDG S2's development.

http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Telltale-Games-Reviews-E256429.htm

This is the blog where I found out about this I highly suggest reading this since they compiled and highlighted some the more telling reviews together in one post. Warning: it's kind of a depressing read.

While it's not a secret the vidya industry treats its employees like shit it's still pretty surprising to hear about how hostile the environment at Telltale is. This is the company that made innocuous p&c adventures like Sam and Max? The underdog company that got dozens of GOTYs for a story-driven game? Were they always like this and the situation just worsened with success or did they undergo some radical transformation after TWDG finished?

Let's be honest, I doubt many of us here are guilty of contributing to TTG's massive growth. It seems like management simply can't deal with the amount of projects and hasn't learned to adapt their project schedules and work environment. It's a miracle nobody has really put them under much scrutiny for the kinds of things we're seeing recently like massive delays, glaring technical flaws, and overall rushed development. I guess everybody still has that "indie studio" image of them despite that they're far from that nowadays.

Looks like a bad case of super growth. Notice how Telltale started piling on the projects as soon as TWDG was finished? TWAU, Season 2, they announced Game of Thrones so it was at least in the works about partway through both of those. Management clearly doesn't know what the fuck it's doing and the employees are left at a loss because they're juggling seventeen projects at once.

What TT needs to do is back off and work on one game at a time. It might not rake in profits as fast, but it'll attribute much more to worker health and the quality of each product.

I doubt it. Telltale gets negativity on /v/ because they don't make videogames anymore as much as they do interactive movies. /v/ hates anything with strong cinematic leanings, for legitimate and not so legitimate reasons.

A lot of 'em are also just nostalgiafags who hate anything TT puts out because 'not muh Sam and Max'.

The final episode of Game has yet to be released, Tales came out pretty soon after episode 1 of Minecraft. They're still working on multiple things but we'll see what happens after the final episode of Game comes out. If it's nothing but Minecraft for a while then it's a good sign Even though Minecraft is shit and their worst product to date.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see two different projects crop up before it finishes though. Whether that's Michone or something else.

>>29150

>Might be problems in that they're putting out more and more games trying to keep afloat.

That's possible I suppose, but I don't really have enough information concerning how their games are selling to know for certain whether or not that's the case.

>>29151

I've heard about this but I don't quite understand why it happens.

Videogames have a serious problem with inflated budgets. Especially in the triple A industry. Games cost millions upon millions to make, and about twice as much money to market, which means if your game isn't doing COD numbers odds are it isn't going to make it's money back.

Middleware developers tend to make games that sell to niche or comparatively smaller markets than huge blockbusters. Used to be that if your game broke the million sales mark you were a success, nowadays if you aren't breaking five or six your entire studio is at risk of bankruptcy.

A lot of devs either wind up going broke and shifting down to the indie scene, or going big and signing on with one of the four godawful publishers we've got producing shit right now.

So yeah, as far as Telltale is concerned it's go big or go home.

Interesting but also completely unsurprising. I know we all like to bitch about the wait between episodes but TT's release schedule is crazy; new shit coming out on a near monthly basis on 6+ different platforms. It wouldn't shock me if TT was sold to a bigger company and they restructure and scale down.

What have they got in the pipeline right now? Minecraft, TWDS2 Michonne DLC, and TWDS3 next year. And those announced things (Marvel, TV something/original IP?) that could be way, way off.

I wonder if that glassdoor stuff is a big part of why Vanaman and Rodkin left. Like they they worked on 400 Days and early S2 under the new management and decided, "Fuck this, we're going to work on games we want make and on our own schedule."

You can also apparently afford the mystery vault hunter, without the money Felix gives you, if you get all of the money that is possible to obtain in the game, and don't spend any of it. Also, Yvette was apparently supposed to be selectable for the vaulting hunting team if you saved her. Arrest Tweedle Dee

Sympathize with Crane

Persuade your prisoner to talk

Let Snow come with you to the Trip Trap

Don't hit Beast when he's down

Don't interrupt Snow's eulogy

Go to the Tweedle's office first

Give Flycatcher a job

Don't burn Greenleaf's tree

Don't kill Tweedle Dum

Don't send Colin to the farm

Don't try to remove Nerissa's ribbon

Go to The Cut Above first

Don't send Toad to the farm (you need the money from this and the last episode in order to give him money)

Agree to talk with the Crooked Man first

Kill Georgie (it's a mercy kill)

Bring the Crooked Man to trail

Imprison the Crooked Man

Accept TJ's gift to Snow

Say "I hope I've done some good here" or "I've made a lot of mistakes"

 No.29208

>>29207

In order of most to least favorite:

TWD Season 1

Borderlands

Wolf Among Us

Game of Thrones

TWD 400 Days

TWD Season 2

As much as we throw around hate for Season 2 and 400 days, I at least sort of enjoyed them.

I don't really have an opinion on Minecraft since I haven't played it, but I can't imagine it's very good. I'd like to play the BttF game sometime.

Which ones have you played, anon? Would you like recommendations on which to play? I'd basically play them in the order I listed them in, maybe skip GoT if that isn't your thing.

 No.29209

Most stuff before TWD S1 sucks dick, The Wolf Among Us got boring fast, TWD S2 is mediocre, Game of Thrones is boring and the latest episode was trash, Borderlands was amazing and Minecraft is shite.

 No.29210

>>29207

Despite my many issues with it Borderlands is universally regarded as the best game TT has put out since TWDG S1 and people love it. The last episode was released very recently.

Almost no one here cares about Game of Thrones and that ones that have played it have said it's boring and mediocre. It's also janky as hell even for a Telltale game.

TWDGS2's just about the worst, most cynical shit Telltale has churned out to profit off a fanbase's love for a character. I don't think there's any other game we've torn into as much but it's also huge part of why /ttgg/ exists so…

Wolf Among Us is regarded as disappointing since it's an interesting premise that starts strong but ends up quickly fumbling it's potential.

Nobody cares about Minecraft. Some people are already calling it the 'worst thing Telltale has made' but really it's just inoffensive and boring as you'd expect a game for children to be. Worst Telltale game title belongs to TWDGS2.

TWDG (S1) is lightening in a bottle, the best thing Telltale has accidentally made and might ever make. 400 Days is skippable, tacked on DLC with almost no interesting characters or stories.

As you might've noticed 'modern' Telltale has had more misses than hits but its few hits are generally considered strong. As for 'classic' Telltale I think there's exactly one guy who's played all of Sam and Max so he could provide his input on at those games.

TWD season 1 is of course their best game. It's hard for me to say which is their second best game. It's up in the air for me between TFTB and the Sam & Max series. I like TWAU, though it could've been much better than how it turned out. Tales of Monkey Island used to be my favorite in the series, and I like the Poker Night games, though there are times where the AI can be cheap, and the dialogue repeats after awhile. TWD S2 is often regarded as the worst game Telltale has ever made, and I can certainly agree to that. However, while TWD S2 may be their worst game, it at least has Clementine in it, and despite how much telltale ruined her character in that game, I still care about her as much as I did in season 1. GOT and Minecraft are boring and uninteresting to me. GOT does get better in my opinion with each episode up until episode 5 which is shit, but it never improves enough to make me feel like it's worth buying. I'd say GOT & Minecraft are better than TWD S2, but the fact of the matter is that they offer nothing to me, while TWD S2 still has Clementine. However, even with that being said, I still say episode 5 of TWD S2, is the absolute worst thing telltale has ever done.

Sadly your choices in season 1 only affect lines of dialogue in season 2. It's stuff like how Lee treated Kenny, what Clementine did with Lee at the end, whether or not you left Lilly behind, etc. Your choices in 400 Days on the other hand, don't matter at all. All that happens is that people who went to the camp make 5 second cameos. That's it.

Burch wrote exactly two scenes in the entire five episodes, and he did throw his politics heavily into one of them if you pick a certain option. 99% of this game is Burch and meme-free, however.

Going back to that Glassdoor stuff, I have to wonder why TFTB turned out to be so good, given the working conditions at telltale and how the executives have creative input on projects which just ends up hurting the quality of said projects. Maybe the executives didn't really care about TFTB and thought that GOT was their money maker, allowing the TFTB team to spend as much time on the project as they wanted which would explain both why it turned out to be the better of the two games, as well as why it took so long for episodes 2 and 3 to come out.

Also, the episode isn't even an hour long and ends abruptly. When it ended I was like, "Wait, that's it? Really?" I'm sure the beginning of the episode is different based on who you choose to go with at the end of the last episode, but this game doesn't interest me enough to care about watching another playthrough to see how it's different.

>Basically lets Shawn die when he could have easily saved him

>Riles up Larry and causes him to have the heart attack which then causes

>Lee to have to break the gate to the pharmacy to get the key to get the pills for Larry which in turn results in the death of Carley/Doug

THEN:

>Kills Larry, which causes Lilly to go insane and results in

>Carley/Doug getting shot by Lilly and then Lilly either leaving the group or being left behind which results in all of the group's most competent fighters being dead or gone

>He fails to protect HIS OWN SON, which results in both Duck and Katjaa's deaths

THEN you have to consider:

>Kenny being the main advocate of stealing from that family, which results in

>Clementine being kidnapped by the stranger, which results in Lee and (and possibly Ben) both dying, leaving us with just Christa and Omid to take care of Clementine which is likely why Omid dies, due to not being in a large group like they used to be

Then from his reappearance in the series:

>Walter (and possibly Alvin) end up getting killed because he's a) reckless b) a terrible shot

>Runs after Arvo like an asshole and causes everyone else to panic which can end up in Luke and possibly Bonnie dying

>Gets Clementine fucking shot and causes Bonnie and Mike to leave by acting like a total nutjob

>Possibly kills Jane himself if Clementine doesn't fucking shoot him

and people say Jane fags are bad

>How have they managed to sink so low after Borderlands was so good?

I'm guessing it has to do with executives wanting them to get each episode out as quickly as possible because they think Minecraft is their money maker now. It kinda supports my theory that Borderlands was good because the executives didn't care about it thus giving the people who worked on it as much time as they wanted to do so.

Regarding the lipsyncing, I'm surprised they bother to have the characters mouths move with what they're saying. With this game's simple graphics, I feel like they could get away with having the mouths just move up and down.

>>29238

>I'm sure the reason why telltale dropped in quality is because all the talented people left after the first season of TWD

I don't think a lack of talent has ever been a problem otherwise TftB wouldn't have turned out the way it did. I think it's more what others have said; the hasty expansion of the company and influx of new employees was just not something Telltale's management could reasonably deal with, hence their heavy-handed approach.

>>29230

It's hard to know what really went on behind-the-scenes during TftB's development but I never got the feeling Telltale didn't care about it. Otherwise it wouldn't have gotten all that money poured into it's budget.

>allowing the TFTB team to spend as much time on the project as they wanted which would explain both why it turned out to be the better of the two games, as well as why it took so long for episodes 2 and 3 to come out.

That actually sounds like that could be TT management's doing judging by the Glassdoor reviews.

>"A milestone is set, everyone on the team agrees that there’s no way we’re going to hit it, but everyone’s so afraid of the executives that we have to pretend we’re going to hit it and kill ourselves trying. Then, when the date arrives, executives look at the game, see that it’s not done, and push the milestone back, so you have to continue killing yourselves until then. Rinse and repeat."

I think it's also important to remember that Gearbox was closely involved in TftB's development and, I strongly suppose, expected the game to reach a certain standard since its functionally a sequel to their main series.

 No.29268

>>29267

>I don't think a lack of talent has ever been a problem

Maybe not a lack of talent, but rather, putting projects in the hands of inexperienced people. I understand that someone needed to work on TWDS2, but putting it in the hands of people who were so new that executives who have even less of an idea of what they're doing have to get directly involved with making the game, was a mistake.

>That actually sounds like that could be TT management's doing judging by the Glassdoor reviews.

In any case, the long development time obviously benefited TFTB because it great, whereas the last two episodes of TWAU & TWDS2 were rushed and turned out to be the worst in their respective series. And of course the latest Minecraft episode is shit.

Honestly I'm kind of hoping they don't bring Negan in at all. If they do, he's going to be nothing like he is in the comic since his thing is swearing and AMC's TWD needs to present gore and viscera in a family-friendly way.

 No.29305

Thanks for watching!

 No.29306

>>29305

Thanks for streaming. I find it a bit weird that they decided to do this episode at this point in time. I mean, if they wanted to expand on Morgan's character, that's fine, but why stick it in the middle of the season? I'm not gonna lie, I laughed when Morgan started saying "kill me" repeatedly, as if it was all he could say.

 No.29307

What would you think if instead of Negan they introduced character who closely resembled him personality-wise and had a different name?

>>29305

Thanks for streaming, as always.

>>29306

Some executive probably thought Morgan needed an origin story episode since he's a significant character this season and it needed to be thrown in there somewhere. Why not not put it after the episode with Glenn's apparent death and draw out the tension of that little plotline?

 No.29308

I wonder how many people who believe Glenn is killed in that episode have any idea what goes on in the comics.

 No.29309

>>29308

Why would that change what they think? Wouldn't be the first time the show killed someone differently than how they killed them in the comics.

I sometimes feel like reading the comics. Should I, or should I just read a plot summary on the TWD wiki?

 No.29311

If you got nothing better to do than why not?

 No.29312

>>29309

Because there doesn't seem to be much reason for the show not to follow the comics on this point. Yeun's character doesn't have much point anymore and from what I've heard comic Glenn lost his usefulness to Kirkman at about this point as well. That's why Negan was introduced the way he was; kill a beloved but now expendable character in the final issue of a volume to show how dangerous he is as well as drum up easy interest for the next issue. Why wouldn't the show adapt that formula?

>>29310

I haven't read them either. I just know what I know from the wiki and what actual readers have said so I can't really give a recommendation. It sounds like it lasted far longer than it should've though.

I get where you're coming from, but I still care about her the same way I do season 1 Clem. As another anon put it, I sort of separate season 2 Clem as two characters in my head. The way she was written, and the way I wish she was written.

 No.29318

>>29313

I vaguely remember feeling confused. I don't remember feeling any anger or fear. Maybe some shock. The moment ultimately never left a deep impression on me since it meant nothing in the end. I know it cemented most people's hatred of Arvo here but I never took the bait like I suspected (some of) the writers wanted me too. It was all so transparent.

 No.29319

>>29318

>took the bait like I suspected (some of) the writers wanted me too

I know some characters are written to be hated, but I'm not sure if Arvo is supposed to be that type of character. Yes, he's a complete piece of shit with no redeemable qualities, but seeing as how there are people who actually feel sorry for him (mostly just retards on TTGF), I have to wonder if they were actually going for a sympathetic villain with Arvo.

 No.29320

>>29319

I wouldn't call him a villain at all, nor would I call him completely unsympathetic. People here just seem to hate him for shooting Clementine, an event which ultimately comes to nothing because she recovers just fine the next day. I think the writers were in conflict over which characters were supposed to be sympathetic and which ones were supposed to be hated. That would explain many of the conflicting tones of certain scenes, sudden OOC moments, and bizarre paths certain character arcs take.

 No.29321

>>29320

After reading the Glassdoor stuff, I blame the writers for season 2's flaws less now. Now I mostly blame management/executives for intruding on season 2's creative process, creating a lot of the problems it has.

 No.29322

>>29321

Writers not knowing where the fuck they're going with the plot or characters has nothing to do with 90 minutes per episode limit and deadlines. I get that the conditions were bad, but the people who wrote TfTB worked under similar conditions and that one turned out fine.

 No.29323

>>29322

Yeah, I get that, but even if the writers did know what they were doing, chances are it wouldn't matter because their ideas would get scraped in favor of whatever the executives have in mind. It would explain why things like how Mike was supposed to be one of the bandits that attacked Christa got dropped.

 No.29324

>>29322

I don't really agree with this because S2 seems like perfect storm of bad decisions, a rapidly changing company, and arrogance that even the S1 team couldn't have saved. It's clear now that a) the higher-ups kept shuffling writers over the course of S2's development, even outsourcing episode four to a guy with no connection with the series and the company and b) important creative decisions were being made and enforced by the executives and producers. We don't know much about what went on during TftB's development other than it seemed a lot less plagued by these specific problems and was also being created with help and input from Gearbox. The TT executives seemed to have much less of a stranglehold than they did with S2 and that made a huge difference I feel. Remember also that Pierre Shorrette, who wrote episodes 3 and 5 of S2, was the lead writer of TftB.

What are the chances they're going to do ANOTHER timeskip at the beginning of S3? Are there any reasons you see why the creative leads, executives, and producers would make that decision?

 No.29326

100% so that they can ignore the multiple endings. Or they're going to make the story focus on another character.

 No.29327

>>29325

100% guaranteed they will do at least enough of a timeskip to have Kenny/Jane dead by the time it starts.

 No.29328

>>29325

A short timeskip, maybe. As the previous two anons pointed out, it would likely be to smooth over the endings to S2.

Originally I thought (along with a few other anons here) that there would be no longer timeskips, because TWDG is nearly in sync with the comics and supposedly Kirkman wouldn't want them to go ahead of the comic timeline.

However, FTWD kind of proves that the canon for TWD between comics/game/TV isn't really important. So I also believe there is a possibility for a much longer timeskip. Whether or not I'd like that depends on how well it was justified by the story.

How much time do you think will pass at a minimum? Enough that the Telltale might feel compelled to make an older model for Clementine?

>Whether or not I'd like that depends on how well it was justified by the story.

Did this series ever need any timeskips? It seems like the most interesting parts of Clem's life would be her growing up as a child in the ZA and her overcoming her inherent physical and emotional weaknesses to survive. Who was it at Telltale who thought that Clem needed to become significantly, physically older for whatever reason and skip major parts of her life? The S2 timeskip just feels so thoughtless and is the single most damaging story component in the game.

 No.29333

Yes. I think Telltale will make Clementine older in season 3 regardless of the size of the timeskip.

Anyway I played episode 4 of season 1 earlier today on PS4. After entering the school, it just cut to Lee in the hallway. I entered the classroom and the scene played as it should have. Cancel it and re-work S2.

Abandon the TWDG "storyline" (what's left of it) and make a spin-off series to ruin instead.

I don't know, I can't really think of a realistic solution.

 No.29341

>Cancel it and re-work S2.

I actually agree with this. I'd prefer if TT redid season 2 completely and continue the story from there rather than go into season 3 with how the story is set up now.

 No.29342

>>29341

There's no way it'll actually happen though. I think the closest thing that could be done is parts of S2 are silently retoconned and ignored in future seasons. It's not perfect since that shit season would still exist, forever poisoning Clem's (and Kenny's) character but it's something.

 No.29343

>>29342

I'd take season 3 and all future seasons ignoring season 2 altogether. It's not the same thing as retconning season 2 to have never happened, but it would more or less have the same effect. Of course this would mean that Clementine would not have her jacket or AJ with her in season 3 but fuck it, the sacrifice is worth it in my opinion.

Man, I hate replaying 400 Days now that I know they'll do nothing with these characters.

And getting that rock, paper, scissors, trophy (for the third time) is such a pain. You have to sit through so much dialogue to get to it and it you're not quick enough on the reload, you have to start Wyatt's scene over since it makes a new autosave right after one of them wins.
