Tulpas can never speak to someone outside the mind they occupy face to face. This is widely understood by both tulpas and hosts alike. However, many tulpas still want to express themselves to other external people in order to have new conversations, learn new things and grow as individuals. It's a natural desire that can surface in all human-like consciousnesses.

So tulpas seek out replacements for face to face communication. Many hosts will proxy for their tulpas on IRC channels and dorums by typing out what they say. Still others will allow the tulpa to type themselves through temporary possession of the host's hands. But for some, text alone isn't enough. They want to also share their appearance and facial expressions with their conversation partners. So what is best suited for this? imageboards of course. There they can post images of their form with it's associated expression in relation to what they're saying. To an outsider this may seem like blatant "avatarfagging," but to the tulpa, it is simply a very expressive form of communication.

So I ask you, OP. What's the harm in that?

All the benefits you attributed to avatarfagging could be achieved by making use of the entirety of the host's anime girl face reaction folder, quite in the same way that we all use them. Not only that, those benefits could likely be achieved more easily, and to a greater effect, by making use of the entirety of the host's reaction folder. One would imagine, at least. What do you say?

In what way does making a critical but on topic thread indicate "full blown NPD"? I don't see it. And, as I mentioned, his complaint seems possibly quite reasonable, given the circumstances. Are you sure you're not just throwing around terms?
