As discussed in these posts: >>1845045 >>1845045 >>1845059

I have decided to set up a weekly film discussion thread.

I've had a couple emails to Gahoole and he's on board with the idea, so we're going to give it a test and see if it works.

I'll start a thread close to 0000 EST Sunday, which will contain the discussion for the week, as well as next film and voting.

Every week a new film is discussed and a new one is picked.

Nothing too imaginative, but hopefully people enjoy it.

Two options at the moment: 1 film or 2. Voting would stay the same, just take the 2nd pick, and would allow for more discussions, maybe comparisons and would mean there's a better chance a film you enjoy will make the cut.

As a side note, no one wants to flood the board with stickies and interlinked threads, so this thread will be stickied for a bit, as will the actual threads, but they're not going to be 24/7 eternal /pol/ stickies. Once you guys get into the groove, I'm hoping we'll only need the sticky for a couple days to get enough people to bump it fairly regularly through the week.

Voting will take place in posts. Type the film, post it, most results win.

Voting will be restricted to a certain category each week. Whether that's a list of pre-approved films or a broad outline anyone can vote for is up to anons.

An alternative is to set up a simple raffle, with each entry being 1 vote.

Examples of categories are:

Science Fiction films, Italian films, Films Roger Ebert gave a 0 to, etc

Categories can be picked by anyone, and I'll either take one that sounds good or randomly pick that as well.

Why make the thread?

Just need feedback.

I could make this today and see if it works, but asking you guys what you want is better for everyone.

Looking for:

>a rough number of people interested

>opinions on 1 or 2 films

>opinions on voting (whether it's popular vote or 1 vote 1 chance in a randomiser)

>initial film (I'll default to a random film in my collection if no one has a better idea)

Additionally, if someone wants to set up a stream for the film, that'd be cool, but not something I will be offering to do myself.

Before anyone asks, no, the 3rd post at the top is not implying all waifufags will be banned on sight, but hopefully it doesn't get to the point where it truly bothers anyone.

If you have any ideas you don't want to post, I also set up an email at FilmFag@protonmail.com (click Anonymous at the top for it) which I'll check every so often. I won't be using a trip.

we should watch kung pow: enter the fist

I can't read this

make it shorter and I'll read this

I'll even watch the movie and try contribute to the thread but I'm not reading this.

I appreciate the effort but this fucking long, type a 4 line max summary please.

Posting in the cuck thread.

>want watch film with anons

>you want watch film too?

I tried.

Good that you shits have your own containment thread now so you stop shitting up rest of the board.

File: 93ee27f1dc58e74⋯.png (2.98 MB, 1002x1500, 167:250, ClipboardImage.png)

I'm in. Nominating The Third Man (1h 33min) by Carol Reed, starring Joseph Cotton, Alida Valli and Orson Welles, for the initial week.

I'll watch films with you but it looks like you have rules or some shit I'm missing out on. I'm not reading your post anon.

Someone summarize for me?

And when you say "watch films with anons" that depends. Watching a stream is stupid and won't improve the board. If it's like a film club where we watch a film every week it will encourage discussion here and get people into watching movies on their own time, which will lead to anons making more threads later down the road. The Brendan Fraser stream had no impact here. It got 70 posts over a week and there was a poll on cytube that showed only 2 /tv/ anons (one being me) showed up.

>Whether that's a list of pre-approved films or a broad outline anyone can vote for is up to anons

Pre-approved films is gay as fuck depending who is behind it. For instance if I found out you're robertsfag I'd avoid these threads entirely. I don't know who you are but this sounds like a bad idea in general.

Leave it up to anons. If anons act like self-important retards and each decide they deserve to nominate their own movie, never picking ones already posted in the thread, then this is doomed from the start anyway.

None, I don't care what you post.

>film club

If someone wants to stream, go nuts, but I won't do it myself.

Streams are restrictive as it assigns a time, which isn't cool as this board is used across timezones.

I'm only being wordy now to get ideas, then once we start it's going to be much more streamined. Most of the OP is an either or choice I want anons to decide on.

I'm not any of the current or past waifufags/celebrity posters.

The pre-approved list idea was only suggested because if the random topic is "action films", there'd be a shit ton. If anons pick films, a list isn't needed. If no one picks, I'd create a list of at least 30 films on the topic and use a randomiser.

I don't have any agenda to push, so don't care what films we do/don't watch. If any decision is on me, I'm using randomisers.

Also going to add The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari because the anon who suggested it gave that as an example.

File: d5f49ae4b5bed8a⋯.png (1.28 MB, 4954x4454, 2477:2227, tv1369567385642.png)

We should just roll trips for a movie. it will bypass all the drama and corruption of voting.

>Streams are restrictive as it assigns a time, which isn't cool as this board is used across timezones.

How about streaming the film 24/7 all week so any anon can catch a screening at any hour?

>Also going to add The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari because the anon who suggested it gave that as an example.

that was me >>1851285 I can retract The Third Man if you don't want two of my submissions in one vote.

isn't /tv/ just too slow for rolls? you could just predict what film it will be based on what number the total post count is up to.

true. casting votes is still a flawed system though.

>subjective and immutable list

I prefer dynamic, hence broad categories.

I did toss up Strawpoll or similar, but Gahoole mentioned some anons dislike it, and if we're using posts, you have to IP hop to avoid being spotted by a mod, which is a hassle just to make anons watch your meme film.

I'm not a mod btw, but I assume the chance of one of them looking at the thread once a week is fairly high.

>all week stream

Works, but again, I wouldn't be doing it, so someone else has to.

Should have mentioned, I will be posting a on demand link and magnets in varying quality in the OP.

File: 8335934de330fc5⋯.png (215.78 KB, 500x334, 250:167, ClipboardImage.png)

I was going to say >not using the dice rolls but I just realized that this board doesn't have the dice roll function here. What the hell, someone contact the BO to enable the feature.

I'll keep both, also. Quite happy to have people vote for as many films as they like in a post, just adds to the pool of choices.

There are benefits to not having much more than 5 options.

We've tried doing generals like this a couple times before. Two years ago anon set up a Riddick stream with pretty much the same format as this OP and it failed on its first week. The problem comes from not enough anons getting enthusiastic about a single movie. Every option is bad:

>each anon gets to suggest a movie - 20 different options no one cares about

>preselected - gay

>randomised - the movie might be shit and it's a week with no discussion

If you're not a faggot and no one's going to stir shit the second might honestly be the best. Doesn't have to be completely random, you could take a few suggestions from the previous week. Still might be a bad idea though.

Then again the best option is just to get the ball rolling quick with good movie suggestions and not spend 100 posts debating the rules.

Well I can certainly default to my personal opinion on the choices in the OP, then if there's complaints, voice them and I'll adjust.

What we could do is have a preselected list that I come up with of various titles to get started, assign them 1 weighting each, then anons can *optionally* vote on those *or* add their own, as long as it's in the category. That way I can somewhat audit the films in there, but if anons really want another film to share, they can suggest it and see if anyone else wants it.

So for now, we'll go:

>sunday EST start

>2 films

>categories I come up with + anon suggestions, randomly chosen, no repeats

>preselected list of at least 25 films

>anons can vote/add as they please

>2 randomly picked

If anyone has an idea/problem with this, go nuts.

I'll start compiling a list of categories, feel free to come up with them. I'll randomly pick two once I've got a fair list that we all like, then we can get two films ready for Sunday.

There is a dice option too, Zero could activate it

File: dfe4e30b60a6bb8⋯.jpg (26.28 KB, 220x325, 44:65, Land_of_the_Blind_Poster.jpg)

Would surely result in some interesting discussions, but perhaps politics ain't the first ideal subject. lol

That one is a nice movie on your pic. I'd recommend it.

If the movie interest me, I'll join the discussion. My only question is is it a strict requirement to watch the movie in question or you can join the discussion based upon your memories of it?

What's this week's film?

I'll be adding this and the others films as additional slots to whatever the 1st (only the 1st) category is.

From then on, suggestions will be limited to the category.

If you know it, go nuts. If it's an older film and you remember context behind it or something, that'd be cool to contrast with a modern viewing.

The irony of creating a stickied thread to discuss television and movies on /tv/.

Current category list

I'll roll up categories sometime in the next 12 hours, as I know this isn't peak US time and I'm not in the US.

Feel free to suggest new categories or dislike of ones I've got already.

File: b89a4ca8bd9eb22⋯.jpg (21.09 KB, 290x324, 145:162, 1469521610276.jpg)

>almost all of the Categories are "something unpopular"

I get that you want to exclude everything you don't like, but if we truly are a Television & Movies board, we could watch popular shit and laugh at them just like how we could laugh at the unpopular shit.

Not really. Just aiming for broad ideas (like Russia, could be James Bond, Tarkovsky, K-19 etc) as well as smaller ones.

The only exclusion I made was capes, because I just know that will end up a dumpster fire. Something like "cape films excluding MCU/DCEU" could work, then we get Spawn/Punisher/Daredevil/Daredevil vs Hulk etc.

If you want more maitsteam stuff I'm happy to add it, I just aimed for 25 really quickly.

Also tried to pick ideas that would give us films anons might not have seen and discussed to death already.

>watching movies

What makes you think this is what this is about at all? I don't see anything about muh superior taste, except your post.

Ignore posts like that, they are the ones who want to run the board to the ground. If you don't reply, they lose their game.

Sounds like what we have on /bestemma, kek. We just don't do it weekly but when the stars align and we can all watch the same movie in a relatively short timespan.

Are you a regular at the board?

Should be.

Gonna rush 2 films for discussion on Sunday (US), then after that we'll have a full week between vote and discussion.

Please use the theatrical version instead of the blu ray one I haven't seen that version.

Random selection of everyone's picks is probably the way to go or anons will just get pissed off at eachother and/or you. Also I think people should be limited to one nomination, if you have more than one film to share than that should be allowed.

But I think at least three to five films are needed to keep it interesting for a week. Nobody has to watch all of them, it's just some variety so you can pick and choose.

Some more suggestions for topics:

Body Horror

Oh, thought I replied, sorry.

Liked them, added them except the DVD one, which I've added to Telefilms (the pool of good stuff in those two options is small to begin with) and I'm not too sure about the YouTube one.

Going to bed now, it's 5AM and I made a mistake as I have to be up at 7, but I'll roll 2 categories in the next 12 hours and make the lists for both.

voting might be a pain but it is less likely to be thrown off than the election by randomizer. The queen election was fairly civil and ended up with the top three mostly representing a cross section of the board. Movie choices might be more functional with a lesser chance of larpiness than the queen election just because it's not a thing as often avatarfagged.

I just thought it would be fun to laugh at some cringeworthy youtuber films. But I can understand OP's hesitation because obviously he doesn't want it to devolve into meme suggestions every week and is actually trying to encourage some real discussion. Maybe something for down the line.

Doesn't voting go against the idea of watching new films to foster discussion? People will pick films they've heard of or watched, defeating the point of it.

Nothing wrong with hispanics, as long as they are good posters and not /pol/ larpers furiously telling everyone who is and isn't white

>Doesn't voting go against the idea of watching new films to foster discussion? People will pick films they've heard of or watched, defeating the point of it.

Someone will have not seen it and we could easily have nominations cycled for less common films.

>Nothing wrong with hispanics, as long as they are good posters and not /pol/ larpers furiously telling everyone who is and isn't white

You don't have to hate people in order to want to retain your own culture. I for one am not thrilled with the malapropisms, parallelism errors, eggcorns, and incorrect idioms that proliferate in and telegraph the arrival of la raza.

>Nothing wrong with hispanics

Spics are the worst posters here - non-whites roleplaying as 'meds' and spamming the board about how the other groups are totally not white. And not in an ironic way. They really want to believe they're white because of social autism and being holed up in discord all day.

They're also the spergs who've been shitting up /tv/ and /cow/ with discord memes for a year. Pic related.

You're thinking of the Brazilian who owns /fascist/, not spics.

>Someone will have not seen it and we could easily have nominations cycled for less common films.

I just think a randomiser would cut out fuss and turn out some more interesting stuff, that's all.

I see where you guys are coming from but the implication is that it would be okay to post about /pol/ shit all the time if they were white, but even then it's still obnoxious. If they looked like living aryan propaganda posters and not like sewer gremlins it still wouldn't make me any less bored and disinterested with their postings.

I don't know about /fascist/ but I do know the Spic discordfags who post on /tv/ are the ones posting it here. They pretend it's just a funny meme but it's clearly a real inferiority complex. They're all MAGApedes who talk to real white people on discord all day. They're loners who obviously wish they could be white nationalists.

This isn't me guessing, I know a lot of /tv/ posters by their discord handles and I know 5 of them are Spics who shitpost about being 'Meds' who post screenshots of their posts here.

>the implication is that it would be okay to post about /pol/ shit all the time if they were white, but even then it's still obnoxious

Not really, it's more I hate their character. They take their shitposts on discord and spam it here. It doesn't matter if it's /pol/ shit or ironic ifunny memes, they can't help but post their latest shitpost everywhere, even on /tv/, because they're too lonely to adapt anywhere. They just spam, feel shit, and repeat. Discordfags are bad but the discord spics are really, really lonely in the worst possible way.

There's 22 choices from you guys so far, so I'll just make that a single roll, then we'll go with a random category.

Current list from you guys, including the extra 4 votes for various films is:

Current list of categories is:

The randomiser I'll be using is https://www.miniwebtool.com/random-picker/

It's not fancy and doesn't allow me to prove I didn't lie about the result, but I doubt that'll be too much of an issue. If anyone has a better idea let me know, but it'll work until then.

File: 577291cf847a28c⋯.png (34.23 KB, 539x622, 539:622, Category.PNG)

First film will be:

The Night Shifter:

>A technician in a morgue who can talk with the dead puts his loved ones in danger when he learns some secrets from one of his departed acquaintances which he uses for revenge.

Swear to G-d you Brazilians better be good film makers.

Second Film will be from the category of:

Let me drum up a list of at least 20, then roll it. Should be done in like 20 minutes if I don't get distracted by a shiny object.

Okay, got 14 because parasites aren't very loved by filmmakers it seems. Mostly stuff from the last century, so I guess they fell out of the writer's brains.

File: fab335c45626484⋯.png (21.2 KB, 826x530, 413:265, Film2.PNG)

The second film will be:

The Day of the Triffids:

>After meteors enter Earth's atmosphere, blinding much of the planet's population in the process, plantlike creatures known as Triffids emerge from the craters and begin to take over.

If you've read the book, it's vastly different.

I'm in for Nothing But Trouble. I have it on VHS and should have seen it like 5 years ago, but didn't. I saw Dr. Caligari and Land of the Blind already, maybe I'll add my 2 cents on those too.

I should have checked. My bad.

New Film!

Punishment Park:

>a pseudo documentary of a British and West German film crew following National Guard soldiers and police as they pursue members of a counterculture group across a desert.

Nice choice, but may I suggest you don't put each movie several times? It would be easy to samefag to personally pick the movie.

Yeah, why not, fair number of guys don't seem to like voting at all (unless they're just samefagging too? chasing shadows a bit) so I might just take suggestions and not votes.

Just take them as nominations

>members of a counterculture group

What does this even mean…

Hippies or something like that, people who don't conform to the mainstream.

Uppity boomers.

Hey Gahoole here just watched punishment park it sucked ass

Anyways I was looking through the list of categories and figured we were pretty close to 52 so I went ahead and did a whole years worth of planning so every week has a category, that way everyone can be thinking ahead for the category for each week without it being revealed at the last minute.

Also everyone should get a chance to vote for the nominee over the whole week OP, add your ideas in at the end if not enough people submit. Don't wanna overtake your thread or anything but I figured this would be better than random rolling every week. Also including the excel file in case people want to edit here https://puu.sh/CJYHW.xlsx

I don't think anybody expects all of the movies to be good, that is too high of a bar. We should enjoy shitting on bad movies as well.

>No threads to cover the BAFTA awards in the UK

You should see all the diversity virtue signalling. They're so up their own arses, actors and actresses, they truly think they're above us mere mortals and need to tell us how much we need diversity.

They could just play the tapes from the past years.

Selma Hayek went off on a rant about how great diversity is, how wonderful having all these different directors from different parts of the black world in Hollywood, especially in current year + 4. They also have two people who host the actual award, they're rotated out for each different award, it looks as if the BAFTA awards have made sure that at least one of the presenters of the award is a diversity hire. It's pathetic.

>No threads to cover the BAFTA awards in the UK

Just make one then?

Dean Stanton and Emilio Estevez. I recall it is certified kino but I haven't seen it for about twenty years so this would be a good excuse to shitpost with fresh eyes.

So, the idea is that we should (already) vote / suggest movies for the next week based on the theme?

There is a Mads movie called Arctic, but its the wrong pole and wont be out in time.

I would suggest Shadow of the Wolf (Agaguk), but its also the wrong pole.

So, I suggest Fukkatsu No Hi (Day of Resurrection), nip version, not the american edit.

The Thing (1982)

It's a must watch.

I doubt if there are more than 10 /tv/ posters who haven't seen that.

You'd rather watch Happy Feet?

What about Ice Station Zebra? It's the wrong pole but it's Better Call Saul related so I'm curious about it. Kim's favorite movie.

>The Day of the Triffids

I had seen the mini-series made about it, but not the '62 movie.

I've always thought the concept had good potential, but none of the adaptations seem to quite get it to work. The idea of off-earth life corrupting our nature somehow has potential. Maybe I should read the book.

As far as the film goes, there are some very aesthetic scenes, I believe they are matte paintings, that aged better than they had any right to. Acting and 'radio-novela-esque' expository dialogue not so much.

Shyamalan called and he wants his shit ending back

There are basically no films set in Antarctica so i'm gonna nominate some Artic films:

She (1935)

>Leo Vincey, told by his dying uncle of a lost land visited 500 years ago by his ancestor, heads out with family friend Horace Holly to try to discover the land and its secret of immortality, said to be contained within a mystic fire. Picking up Tanya, a guide's daughter, in the frozen Russian arctic, they stumble upon Kor, revealed to be a hidden civilization ruled over by an immortal queen, called She, who believes Vincey is her long-lost lover John Vincey, Leo's ancestor.

On The Ice (2011)

>In Barrow, Alaska, teenagers Qalli and Aivaaq find their bond tested when a seal-hunting trip goes wrong, resulting in the death of their friend.

Also might I suggest nominating two films a week? One is scarcely enough to give a whole week's worth of discussion.

File: bad8f5cd696c280⋯.jpg (111.07 KB, 610x960, 61:96, sota.jpg)

SHE is great, but a bit of a cop out.

I doubt there's anyone here who hasn't seen that. The original movie, on the other hand, probably hasn't been seen by many people on /tv/. It's pretty good from what I remember.

There was a guy who held a stream for it here just a couple months ago. It wasn't that great honestly. John Carpenter's adaptation of Who Goes There threw out a lot of great subtle horror scenes in favor of melodrama and jumpscares, but the original adaptation really just shat all over the source material and churned out yet another generic creature feature that isn't really distinguishable from any of the other ones from that era.

I'm glad Carpenter decided to go that way, it's a fantastic study on the nature of paranoia and the fracture of trust in a group.

I'll unsticky the PP thread saturday and then we can put up a day of the triffids thread

On a real /tv/ board, you wouldn't need a sticky dedicated to film discussion. So fuck this shit.

Take that attitude to reddit or cuckchan

This board is fine

No matter what movie is next, we should watch it in the thread. Split it up into webms. Like we did with the sw movie or solo.

voting for hell below zero

The film is selected randomly from the nominations.

Virus (1980)

The Thing (1982)

Alien vs. Predator (2004)

What about The Andromeda Strain?

That's stupid and will only lead to retards posting troll movies.

The mod just ignored a bunch of troll movies, its fine. Trolls will have to get creative

Mods aren't the ones picking the movie.

Friendly reminder that a real /tv/ board wouldn't need an official weekly film discussion thread because such things would happen on their own.

File: 7099c6f50eeeaca⋯.mp4 (916.83 KB, 1280x720, 16:9, patrick idc.mp4)

This also sticky the the Bruno Ganz death thread

Making two stickied threads to discuss movies is certainly easier than keeping the board itself clean and on track.

Shame if someone were to start shitposting in here…

After some consideration, I guess at least it's a commendable effort and Day of the Triffids is a good movie worthy of discussion.

So which ones are the candidates for the Antarctica category?

Let me know if I'm missing any:

>Hell Below Zero

>Fukkatsu No Hi (Day of Resurrection), aka Virus (1980)

>The Thing (1982)

>The Thing from Another World

>Scott of the Antarctic

>Alien vs. Predator (2004)

I'd nominate The Thing (2011) but I heard it's shit so maybe it's best to avoid it. Modern shitty movies can't even be shitty in a good way, they're just forgettable.

Taking Arctic movies too:

>Shadow of the Wolf (Agaguk)

>Ice Station Zebra

>She (1935)

>On The Ice (2011)

Nothing to do with Antarctica.

Yeah can we make it 2 films week?

The llist will go by faster

File: 43c74c11f5082c4⋯.png (248.14 KB, 265x374, 265:374, ClipboardImage.png)

I'd like to nominate this 1983 Japanese film simply titled Antartica, it seems interesting:

If you're taking out The Thing (2011) can I suggest removing The Thing from Another World also, it's an awful adaptation that doesn't compare favourably to the Carpenter version. Plus having another monster movie right after Day of the Triffids would suck.

I think we can play with the rules pretty loose, two films could work if the category is broad enough but one category a week could still be the rule?

Also not sure where OP went but I'll roll for next week's film like Friday so get your nominees in before then.

Friendly reminder documentaries can be nominated too

There has to be some movie about nazi bases in the Antarctica, it'd be utter bullshit but I bet it can be used as a pretext for kino.

>inb4 iron sky

I know it's on the Moon but I recall something related to the Antarctica for some reason. I'm not watching that pozzed shit.

I recommend holding it to one official movie a week to maintain a clear focus. But all of the nominated films should be technically on topic if anons want to take the initiative to watch and discuss them.

Hi Refn

>if you post about Barbarella that makes you Refn

this is what paranoid faggots believe

>it's an awful adaptation

It's still a good movie though, even if it's nothing like the book.

Yeah one category per week is nice and if its broad enough we could watch 2 films. Most if not all categories could accomodate that

We had a thread a month ago about it

Its a really nice movie

i highly recommend it but im afraid it wont start a very big discussion

Gonna roll for next weeks film live tomorrow. No idea where OP went but I don't mind taking over until he gets back. Make sure to get all your nominees in before then

gonna steal this for the stream thanks

no prob bob

yeah please go ahead and take over

OP is probably sucking dick and too busy to attend to the promises he made

Also just a suggestion:

To make things a liittle more interesting

Can we make a strawpoll regarding the next weeks category? That will add some randomness and anticipation to the whole process

i can make one for week 4 using the list you posted earlier and then work our way through the most popular categories first to have more fag.. anons engaged

Either way, I'm going to nominate Der Feuerteufel (1940)

>It is the time of the War of Liberation against Napoleon's French occupation authorities in Prussia and Austria (1813). The Carinthian woodsman Sturmegger is desperately trying to win freedom for his townsmen in the armed struggle against the French. Together with a like-minded group of men, he one day attacks a coach, in which there is suspected to be a French general. Shortly afterwards, Sturmegger is identified as the mastermind behind the assault and is arrested.

Pink Flamingos

>The American version of the film was shown for review at the Cannes Film Festival in May 1980 as a "work-in-progress" print. The non-English language footage was dubbed into English for this release and it ran at 155 minutes. It was initially released to home video in the United States with a 108 minute run-time and was presented on television with a 93 minute running time. The original Japanese-language cut was released to home video in 2006 with English subtitles.

So, there are 4 cuts? I thought the 1:44 minutes was the japanese complete one.

Most of the movie is spoken in english, there are some japanese scenes with subtitles (in most releases or from open-subtitles).

>In 2002, Kadokawa Shoten released the movie in a special limited-edition Region 2 DVD set, which contained the original 156-minute cut and the shorter 108-minute version, plus extra materials. [1] While the DVD in question does not have English subtitles, an English-subtitled version of the full cut was later released in 2006 as part of a compilation set called the Sonny Chiba Action Pack. [2] Previous copies of the film released in North America often featured the 108-minute cut, partly because of the multinational cast that had several American actors.

So, it seems there are only 2 DVD cuts. The butchered one and the 1:40-1:50 minutes cut.

This torrent is 1:48:00 miinutes long. With english subtitles built in.

I'll check what that 2:36 minutes version has, but I think it must be the extras.

Eric the Viking looks amazing.

156 minutes are 2 hours 36 minutes, the rarbg cut

So, the youtube one above is the right lenght, but it doesn't have subtitles in the japanese parts.

To fix that, just install this extension:

Load the video, and choose the one that says "FULL ENGLISH" and apply.

I could blame on the fact there are shorter cuts on youtube/torrents so I just assumed, but its not the first time I make that mistake. lol

>Judging a movie from the opening shot.

ur a moran

>board is almost entirely comprised of /pol/tards

>we shouldn't have a movie night theme that would encourage them to redirect their posts into a film discussion instead of political shitposting

Can't agree with this line of thinking tbqh

There are plenty of threads about /pol/ movies already. This is a life-support thread for other stuff.

There really aren't, look at the catalog now. Unless your "/pol/ movie" is real life I don't see a single thread about it now. I don't really understand your objection to a third reich film. I think people would enjoy watching a movie from a time & place where not many people have explored, yet is still culturally relevant today

Mel-kino because he hates jews.

More mel-kino.

Thread about anti-commie movies.

More /pol/ movies.

The anti-commie thread is a blatant shitposting thread, Mel is a good goy now, and I don't see how borgman is /pol/ but looks alright - I'll give it a watch.

I'll download the youtube version and put up a torrent with it and the subtitles that way you can all get it in one package

does /tv/ utilize a service like cytube for movie nights? even if it were one night a week? take a poll on which night should be movie night and we all get together to watch the movie of the week?

it seems most regulars are on here most of the day/night anyways.

just curious.

I'd be fine with that honestly only problem is we're all on different time zones. Wednesday or thursday nights would be best imo

yeah i figured people are somewhat from around the globe but wouldnt be a terrible idea to have a movie night even if it's a dozen or so of us. easier to ban/kick/mute all the poltards shitting up the place.

unless you guys have a super secret cytube and dont want to mention it here because of tards joining

The price is one gahoole cum tribute.

Constant bit rate 16mb which isn't exactly 16mb on 8ch because for some reason Ron has is set a few kb lower making it a massive pain in the ass when you have had something encoding for 20 minutes and then rush to post it becuase the joke is almost stale and you get the file too large message from Ronnie the rat.

Do the rarbg version instead. Better quality. Just give a link to the srt file too

Because it was one of the most racist disgusting pieces of filth I had ever seen and clearly he felt the same way. Shit, I deleted the wrong one.

First excerpt from his review:

>"Africa Addio" is a brutal, dishonest, racist film. It slanders a continent and at the same time diminishes the human spirit. And it does so to entertain us.

>It claims to be a documentary of what has happened in Africa since colonialism ended. It shows us sadism and tells us we must not fear to see the truth – but the sadism itself has been staged for the cameras. It weeps for the slaughtered wild game of Africa – but who weeps for the game tortured before the cameras, and before our eyes?

>The film begins with a scene familiar from a dozen newsreels: A British colonial governor boards a launch and is taken to an offshore ship. The Union Jack comes down, and a new flag is flown. Another colony is independent.

>But independence has come too soon, the narrator tells us. Africans are not ready for self-government. "Europe has abandoned her baby," the narrator mourns, "just when it needs her the most." Who has taken over, now that the colonialists have left? The advertising spells it out for us: "Raw, wild, brutal, modern-day savages!"

>I could hardly believe my ears. During a year in South Africa I only rarely heard such language, and then usually in bars. Yet here it was being presented as gospel truth in a supposedly reputable documentary.

Webm related is from a recent documentary.

I've always wanted to discuss Branded with less hostile people, usually it's a love/hate thing with this movie and you never get to discuss it right. But I don't feel like it's really conspiracy themed, and don't want to force it on people.

The problem with Branded is that isn't not what the poster makes it out to be.

>The Ipcress File (1965)

In London, a counter espionage agent deals with his own bureaucracy while investigating the kidnapping and brainwashing of British scientists.

Would Ace in the Hole count as a conspiracy movie? There's no government conspiracies or anything like that, but the main character is a journalist who conspires with the local police to keep a guy trapped in a cave so he can exploit the situation.

Yes definitely. Always remember; media kikes are just as bad as government kikes

File: adaff6805fcf795⋯.jpg (619.17 KB, 1500x2249, 1500:2249, capricorn-one-1978.jpg)

I would nominate:

>The Trial (1962)

An Orson Welles movie based on a Kafka novel. Basically about a guy who is convicted of a crime he has no idea what it is, and the state/society doesn't give him any answers. It feels like the more known Brazil takes some ideas from this movie. Though it seems to be eben more insane in how people act then Brazil ever was.

I would also choose from this list:

>Capricorn One (1978)

Starts rather comical in my opinion, but it is a serious movie. Basically NASA wants to launch a rocket to Mars. But they don't have the money so they take the astronauts, one being played by OJ Simpson, to a hidden location and have them film the entire thing.

>Journalist lies to the entire country and builds a quick and lucrative business off of it

Sounds like conspiracy to me

both films are kino you have good taste

Gantz O. Could be the best so far. Better then Blame!. Would have to watch it and Harlock again to see remember which one is better. Just remember the fabric CGI in Harlock being a little jarring.

Appleseed is carried by its story, and personally felt their cel shaded style worked, even better then the Godzilla Monster Planet trilogy. Could be mixing up all three Appleseed movies.

I legitiimately liked FFVII Advent Children, FFXV Kingsglaive, all Resident Evil CGI, and the two CGI Starship Troopers flicks, so take everything with a grain of salt.

Gantz is indeed the best.

Those 3 movies are pretty bad. Zootopia is the best of the 3 and fuck furries for ruining it.

I thought 9 was alright.

File: 1c9728b28be0066⋯.jpg (66.09 KB, 1024x576, 16:9, OY PAKI GO FOK URSELF.jpg)

The concept is not bad, actually good, but the people who made it couldn't tell a story if their lives depended on it. There's no plot, it's just 2 hours of exposition. The writer wasted all his time making a complex world and forgot to actually tell a story to begin with.

And the animation is not great either. The looks are in that limbo between realistic and stylized when even similar GAMES look more interesting, like Little Big Planet.

Nominating the Bionicle: Mask of Light, Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui, and Dragons Fire & Ice.

Fuck Bionicle 3 and 4. I'm not even going to nominate those ironically.

This film is unironically a blast to watch. It's so fucking surreal and strange.

Antz (1998)

The Tale of Despereaux (2008)

Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero (2018)

You want trap Bionicles?

I remember the insane hype for 9 and watched it and thought the setting was cool but that there basically wasnt a plot or substance.

would actually like to see and havent seen the latter two

who knew that hollywood made french films

everything of value from hollywood has already been seen by everybody

post something lesser known from mgm/ columbia etc (not some arthouse studio) that is kino and i ll revise the chart

but its correct if you are looking for something good and want to avoid the trashpile that your countrys cinema is

>who knew that hollywood made french films

My point is that they're a pozzed French film and a redpilled Hollywood film that completely blow your chart the fuck out.

>post something lesser known from mgm/ columbia etc (not some arthouse studio) that is kino and i ll revise the chart

Emma Stone's favorite movie

Now my chart is invincible

Also dont post shit like that actress because you get filtered and i cant see the replies

>Also dont post shit like that actress because you get filtered and i cant see the replies

her favorite movie is Network, which is far from pozzed

I'm sorry you're so fragile you need to filter the best™

Also there's plenty of other exceptions. France has no shortage of pozz, see "Amelie" for example. You have a rather simplistic view of things. Where's the pozz in "The Passion of the Christ"?

3D Nominees

Shrek 2 (2004)

Princess Fiona's parents invite her and Shrek to dinner to celebrate her marriage. If only they knew the newlyweds were both ogres.

Ratatouille (2007)

A rat who can cook makes an unusual alliance with a young kitchen worker at a famous restaurant.

Rango (2011)

Rango is an ordinary chameleon who accidentally winds up in the town of Dirt, a lawless outpost in the Wild West in desperate need of a new sheriff.

The Lego Movie (2014)

An ordinary LEGO construction worker, thought to be the prophesied as "special", is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the LEGO universe into eternal stasis.

What's your point? They Live fucking sucks.

>no Bee Movie

Can you retract my suggestion for the film "9"? I just remembered it's boring and it sucks. I'll nominate these instead:

>Arthur and the Invisibles

>Over the Hedge

>Meet the Robinsons

>Hotel Transylvania

My view is not simplistic

The Passion of the Christ is made from an independent studio that funds its own films

Bee Movie was the last time I went to cinema, with a girl no less. She's a college marxist now, don't make watch this flick again.

>bee movie

Both of those movies suck.

Antz is an interesting re-watch as an adult, because it is a war movie and you don't quite get it as a kid. So it can do an interesting movie week, but it's not really great.

Weekly reminder that a real /tv/ board wouldn't need artificial "film discussion" threads.

you have piqued my curiousity on this one

Are you saying that the board should be more havily moderated to stay "on topic" or you believe that the board would simply be better as is without pinned threads ?

I meant the former but the latter is also true. Not that it really matters, since neither is going to happen anytime soon. Gahoole is too deep into building up his e-fame.

File: 7efc64b6599f8ee⋯.jpg (120.47 KB, 640x426, 320:213, 7efc64b6599f8ee1c9c55059db….jpg)

Stick on tons of filters then report and hide garbage that slips through the cracks. Make good on-topic threads periodically and contribute to ones others have made, even if it is just a one line post.

Hasn't made this place great (yet) but it has at least made it usable for me and there's not much else to be done.

I remember nine the movie that was adapted from the play about the thots who all liked this one dude who was an adulterer or some shit came out like a year or two later and confused someone i knew.

lego movie please. Bullshit have we not all seen shrek 2

When he accidentally winds up in a frontier town called Dirt, he takes the first step on a transformational journey as the town's new sheriff. Though at first Rango only role-plays, a series of thrilling situations and outrageous encounters forces him to become a real hero.

Twilight Zone the movie is too much of a meme for it to not be the movie this week.

>on this board

The original French Taxi is pretty good, it's crazy that a blockbuster film just has full frontal nudity like it's nothing.

Taika Waitit is good, Watch Shark Vs Eagle, it has lots of great gags, Boy, because it also has lots of great gags, What we do in the shadows, because it has lots of great gags, and Hunt for the Wilder People, because it has lots of great gags.

>tfw none of demi moore's daughters turned out anywhere near as hot as her

Fucking disgusting, she's so hot, and there would have been a chance that at least one of them really got into doing nudity in this day and age.

>Films made by Youtube personalities

That shit's fucking great though, that lets you see how talentless all these critics are, just look at RLM, complete shit, I'm unironically interested in seeing George Rockall Schmidt's film just for the laugh.

>That shit's fucking great though, that lets you see how talentless all these critics are, just look at RLM, complete shit, I'm unironically interested in seeing George Rockall Schmidt's film just for the laugh.

It didn't get included in the list, presumably because it could veer too off-topic. Maybe next year we can have "Films written/directed by critics" instead, then you could have films like Beyond The Valley of Dolls.

I'm not saying that Taika Waitit's films are the greatest things ever, I said good, he's better than peele, since he doesn't make his films about being all woke and shit, who knows though, shit could change with his next film.

I agree things are better now but it would still be a nice goodwill gesture to anons if you banned the worst spammers (like Yakuza and the MRE guy). I'm not even talking about obnoxious posters like Ravenposter or Emmafag, I mean the attention whores who routinely make off topic posts every day. I know you know who i'm on about because you're the one who has to mop them up. It would go a long way to improving /tv/ and make it easier for anons to push things towards being good.

Yakuza IP hops now so I actually can't ban him, MRE guy has kinda stopped now? The real problem is the tim pool poster he fucking sucks

>attention whores who routinely make off topic posts every day

>Yakuza IP hops now so I actually can't ban him

That sucks but does that mean Yakuza posts can now be mass deleted like what happens with Zach/Marg posts?

>The real problem is the tim pool poster he fucking sucks

That's who I was talking about. I assumed him and MREposter were one and the same since they have a similar posting style. He said in one post all he does all day is watch those videos in 8 hour blocks and post them to /tv/.

Ravenfag is obnoxious but he doesn't spam the catalog and he's stopped posting Raven in good threads so definitely not the worst.

>margcuck finally shut up

what happened? I enjoyed his antics.

Colostomy bag explosion in public.

Seriously though, everyone's autism runs out eventually, even for turbospergs like margcuck.

After GoT is over it will be a wasteland with only Zach inhabiting it and Gahoole fucking his femboy ass from time to time. This is the future that you've chosen, either by your actions or inaction.

The undead army invades Winterfell and kills literally everyone but a few named characters. Then Arya kills the White Walkers and Undead army by stabbing the boss once with Dragon Glass. That puts an end to the White Walker threat and only 3 more episodes remain to be spent on Cersei Lannister.

ASHCUTALLY, that was Valerian Steel. She got the knife from the cripple. They set her up to kill him, because she is the only assassin on the whole show. All others are fighters.

Häxan (1922) Fictionalized documentary showing the evolution of witchcraft, from its pagan roots to its confusion with hysteria in modern Europe.

Island of Lost Souls (1932) An obsessed scientist conducts profane experiments in evolution, eventually establishing himself as the self-styled demigod to a race of mutated, half-human abominations.

Black Sunday (1960) A vengeful witch and her fiendish servant return from the grave and begin a bloody campaign to possess the body of the witch's beautiful look-alike descendant, with only the girl's brother and a handsome doctor standing in her way.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) Two siblings and three of their friends en route to visit their grandfather's grave in Texas end up falling victim to a family of cannibalistic psychopaths.

The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) The life of Jesus Christ, his journey through life as he faces the struggles all humans do, and his final temptation on the cross.

I'm partial to La maschera del demonio and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre myself. One is a masterpiece and the other is an all time slasher classic.
