What went wrong? I mean they're кино by today's standards, but why weren't they true greatness?

Wolfgang Petersen can even read ancient greek. He's a good oldschool director, too. If only they gave him a good script.

Troy was really bland. It's Iliad, but less in every way, the costumes and prop were dull, and they spend most the movie in a really empty field with a monotonous background. "Old epic/myth/legend/fairy tale but realistic" never works unless you go full autistic with historical accuracy.

Can't remember much about Alexander, except that the title character wasn't a weird looking swarthy manlet like he should have been.

> It's Iliad, but less in every wa

Because they excluded the gods, who were an integral part of the story. This is a trend of late in pedowood, take a mythological story and remove all the supernatural elements from it.

To be fair, there was a risk of making it look like Hercules with Kevin Sorbo but making it a generic "medieval" war movie #254 was no better trade.

<In Peter Griffin's voice: "You thought that was bad"

Alexander was just pure ham. It's like watching Batman and Robin.

The worst thing about this is that these were the last versions of the characters well ever see. Everything after that now is gonna be black Alexander and so on.

>The worst thing about this is that these were the last versions of the characters well ever see

At least as one of the last visual representations of the white civilization, Troy had a casting as fitting as could conceivably ever be expected.

That's true. Unlike Alexander, Troy had everything going for it except for the script.

It's almost the same, Russian alphabet is based on Greek

<why wasn't Alexander great?

>Val Kilmer

>American father with bad Irish accent in order to make up for the lead unable to pull off Greek accent

>Christopher Plummer tells him not to fuck men

>he fucks men

>Rosario Dawson tries to sex-fight him

>returns to men

>Anthony Hopkins completely wasted

Meh, I prefer they got actors who actually could pass for Mediterranean, instead of the weird Germanic/Celt mutts they got. Still, good effort.

>medcuck is still here

>Val Kilmer

>A con

Reported for ultra plebeian tastes

What did anon mean by this?

Not even the ancient Greeks wanted to have medmutts in their entertainment. Achilles for example is a confirmed blonde/redhead, depending on how you interpret the wording.

um, you mean black, sweetie >>1917589

Dey BE meds.

Troy is fine. Alexander's main problem was Colin Farrell who has always been a meme, Anglos and Irish especially hate him. Pedowood thought he was some exotic Celt in the early-mid 2000's and shilled him hard but looks like not even the mutts took the bait given his box office track record.

>thought he was some exotic Celt
