vikings actually suprised me in a positive way at first, precisely because it was from the Hitler/Ancient Ayy channel, my expectations were low to say the least.
Its gotten a little silly over time, I think the strongest theme of the show was depicting how christianity was…pretty damn seductive on a few levels, especially to a people who basically celebrate death, strength, sacrifice, etc.
its interesting that ragnar of all people is drawn to it, considering hes kind of the born viking.
From the bits I have read it was to a large extent the women that embraced christianity(inb4 some Odinfag starts bitching at weak-willed womyns) this was a very sensible stance to take, you are basically talking about sanity vs insanity, even despite all the crazy shit the church did back then. women are biologically more risk averse, for good reason, it makes sense they would adopt such gedankengut first
