How exactly is a military veteran being competent in a firefight defying expectations? Particularly when it's made clear those who haven't fought, male or female, are next to worthless.

the problem is, instead of gradually making rey the stronk wymn like they did with ripley and sarah connor, they just hit it off the bat and shoved it down your throat. there was no buildup to her being a badass, it was just implied from the start that she's an asskicker.

She's the same as Hunger Games girl: set up as a strong female lead but actually makes very few decisions and has little or no agency, while escape routes and lots of men show up to help her survive the plot.

An actual strong female character would be someone like Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell.

Strong female characters only work when they have some unrealistic advantage helping them out and completely ignore being a female when fighting. Such as your example which is a cyborg and not fighting as a woman at all.

Stronk womyn on the other hand wear their animosity toward men on their sleeve, their need to prove how badass they are in every scene, and a veneer of realism overlayed over the unrealistic physics used in their fights. They can knock out men with feeble baby arms that probably punch about as hard as a twelve year old boy.

There was a reason why in the past the "badass" woman comrade character ended up fighting another woman. Nobody would take her fighting a man serious. It's a sign of how far society has been brainwashed concerning women being tough, that they are able to put it out full on without being laughed at.

What some of you don't realize is that this shit is aimed mostly at young boys who tend to idolize badasses. When all the "badasses" available are women and all the men are cucks what do you think this does to boys psychologically?

There's a disconnect there, though. I can't buy it. My brain won't accept that she overwhelmed him the same way Luke overwhelmed Vader in Jedi. Not because of sexism, but because I'm a person that's actually engaged in physical activity at least once on my life.
