On a board hunt? Want your own board advertised on /txt/? Check here:
Board Confederacy Project

So HW advertised for a Reddit clone, Voat. I've been looking over it. At the moment I'm not too impressed. They seem to be the same as Reddit, except with a hateboner for Reddit.

What's the story, /txt/?

I don't know myself. I think voat used to be called whoahverse, and it had a slightly better user interface back then too. I think they had a fallout with reddit like 8chan did with 4chan. It was much easier to find the board creation button and search to see which boards were already taken. 8chan is pretty much better than voat or reddit do to its lack of user accounts, voting systems, and easier to navigate user interface (especially if you want to see which boards are taken). Also, subverse is a stupid name to call a board. Also the site is slow as fuck. I may use it regularly if it starts picking up, but right now 8chan is pretty much my main site for daily use.

It's like reddit except it's uglier and slower (both in regard to page loading times and posts-per-hour). Some people on /pol/ are talking about establishing a presence there, in case it gets big enough... fools. Voat is never going to pose a threat to reddit, and in the remote chance it did, /pol/acks would find themselves hopelessly outnumbered just like on reddit (and thus silenced).

Yeah, I mean, it might be interesting if /pol/ could do to Voat what SRS and SA did to Reddit, establishing a hostile presence that goes hidden because they downvote anyone who even so much as mentions them and the admins willfully ignore it. It'd be interesting to see how things would be different with far-right nuts instead hardcore leftists influencing the site.

But it's probably not going to happen. /pol/ is pretty terrible at the whole infiltration and sabotage thing. They're not crafty or deceptive like goons tend to be. They spend more time saying "hey let's infiltrate X and destroy/alter it from within" than they do trying to figure out how they can actually accomplish their goal.

To be honest I've lost hope for /pol/. It seems to be getting worse instead of better, and they have no-one to blame but themselves.

I've never really had respect for them. Too much Hitler worship and conspiracy shit for my liking.

In terms of fringe Internet groups, the more tame MRAs and red pillers are as far as my sympathies stretch.

It's reddit for people who think the mods there are corrupt or something. I'm not really a fan of the layout of reddit so I don't think I'll really ever be on there.
