Codex is the term used for a rulebook for a specific army. It contains a great deal of information about their place in the setting including stories, observations from other factions, and writings from their own in-universe books.
Malal here is something of a quasi-legal entity to the warhammer intellectual property. He was created before the other four gods back in the eighties, but because it was in a comic the rights possibly went to the writer and not the company. The company did not pursue ownership, but their own writers slipped in reference to him every so often. That's why I want to make a tribute to this outcast entity.
