Rare punctuation & typesetting
Discuss archaic, rare and old punctuation, typesetting conventions, ligatures and the like.
The 'fleuron' or 'hedera' was a punctuation mark equivalent to a break between paragraphs, much like the pilcrow. ❦ It represents an ivy leaf, in most designs, hence the name 'hedera', or 'ivy' in Latin.

"Shift_JIS art is artwork created from characters within the Shift JIS character set, a Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) superset of ASCII intended for Japanese usage. Naturally there are many similarities between Shift_JIS artwork and ASCII art."
-Excerpt form Wikipedia
Now hello here, I'm the BO of /sjis/.
/type/, I've been recommending http://monafont.sourceforge.net/index-e.html as the default font for ShiftJIS art on my sticky, but I'm not sure if this font even matches up the default AA format.
Say, can someone on Linux screenshot this AA and post it on this thread?:
| |\|/ | | |
| ∧ ∧ |/⌒ヽ、| ∧_∧ | ∧∧ |
|(,,゚Д゚)||,,゚ Θ゚)|(; ´Д`)|(=゚ω゚)|
All |'s should line up perfectly, no exception.
The calcium molecule is built on a semi-permanent structure of four electrons supporting three protons. The protons feed electrical information to the core of the molecule, where we find the central atom, or Queen Atom. Were the Queen Atom to leave the molecule, or nest, the effects would be disastrous, as the entire structure would come tumbling down.
This is known as the Helvetica Scenario.
Shit this board is lifeless

anyone else know this feel?
Book of Despair
Well this is an interesting board.
I'm going to be attempting to scratchbuild a warhammer codex in the future. My question for the folks who know of such things is what typeface/font best gives the impression of 'despair' while still being legible?. Something that curls back upon itself, that is riddled with decay. The black speech of Mordor given modern form essentially. Does such an assemblage of grimdarkness exist?
Pls no bold comic sans, grimdark not grimderp.

Hey BO, nice board, this could actually be really useful. The right font makes all the difference in the world at times, and it's hard to understand sometimes what makes it "right."
Anyway, gotta ask: how did you create ads for this? Did you get a betakey for the self-serve platform or something?
okay /type/, since you already exist and advertise yourself, be of some use at least
I need to identify this font. I know that the one used for the title is some modification of Anja Eliane, and it's likely that the credits one is also from the same family, but I can't seem to find it.
I have tried identifying it with several online find-my-font tools, but they failed (And I'm pretty sure they only know 1% most popular + sponsored fonts).
If anybody could help, that would be great.
