I thought the font I used was called "Monospace" but now I wonder if it isn't just a shortcut to the system's default monospace font.
Anonymous 07/28/15 (Tue) 01:25:41 No.141
>>132
It's a shortcut. That font is really called DejaVu Mono.
http://dejavu-fonts.org/wiki/Main_Page
DejaVu Mono was based on Bitstream's Vera family of fonts, which itself was based on Bitstream Prima.
DejaVu Mono adds glyphs and features not found in Bitstream Vera. Since Vera was released under a free license, it was easy to extend.

Whoa. I didn't realize that. Thanks.
Anonymous 07/28/15 (Tue) 20:07:52 No.145
i use DejaVu family for pretty much anything because:
- looks good overall. no big flaws i noticed
- sharp. no blur like in other fonts, at least for my devices
- has good Unicode coverage
- widely available, at least on Linux and its friends

I got Bentwood.
A lot of lowercase letters feel off, but it's good enough for my use.

Dina, a fork of Proggy that adds a few more glyphs. It's a bitmap font.

Courier Prime.
It's like Courier New, but better, more readable and with true italics.
It was made for screenplay writers and it has the same measurements, but it was made to be readable on screen too, and it's far more pleasant.
It has a sans-serif version and a code version too.

Ubuntu Mono here.
Works best so far both with reading code and terminal output.

I mostly use Monaco, although today I'm giving Hack a try:
http://sourcefoundry.org/hack/
I'll probably end up going back to Monaco, though. I really like the round parenthesis and Hack's "0" is a bit overkill.
