Now hello here, I'm the BO of /sjis/.

/type/, I've been recommending http://monafont.sourceforge.net/index-e.html as the default font for ShiftJIS art on my sticky, but I'm not sure if this font even matches up the default AA format.

Say, can someone on Linux screenshot this AA and post it on this thread?:

Fedora 22, a linux distribution, reporting in as OP wanted. The .rpm packages mona-bitmap-fonts and mona-vlgothic-fonts don't seem to work with chrome, but the mona.ttf you can find on the sourceforge page works fine.

The problem you are experiencing is because the fonts in question have both a bitmap and an outline mode.

OS X ignores the bitmap table in a font and forces outlines at all sizes. Linux's FreeType library can also be configured to do so, and so it is in the default installs of many distributions.

Mona ONLY looks correct if bitmaps are enabled.

Sorry, OP, it's a dead medium. You can no longer predict with any reasonable accuracy what font is used to display a web page on the client end.

Yes, and my 8chan stylesheet aggressively overrides every element on the page with whatever fucking font I want. If it didn't have that capability, Stylebot would be doing the same.

I repeat:
