LONG LIVE THE UBF

File: 1428910734326.jpg (130.39 KB, 1024x768, 4:3, flying-eagle-wallpaper.jpg)

 No.1[Reply]

Welcome to the official board of the UBF

>What is the UBF?

The UBF is a loose confederation of boards centred around the concept of freedom from heavy moderation.

>What is the purpose of the UBF?

The purpose of the UBF is two-fold.

1. To encourage posting on a UBF member board instead of their larger, no-fun-allowed counterpart

2. To encourage the posting of related content between boards to encourage user interaction, increasing the number of UIDs and posts per hour on boards

>Who is in the UBF?

The current members of the UBF are as follows

Anime, Manga, and Japanese/Otaku Culture

Arts and Sciences

Gaming

>>>/vvv/ - A /v/ alternate without Mark

General Discussion and Miscellaneous

>>>/1/ - A lawless random board

>>>/happy/ - Discussion of whatever makes you happy

>>>/sf/ - Science fiction discussion

Hobbies

Lifestyles

>>>/roze/ - A board based around internet celebrity Rosemary Gotto A.K.A. "randytaylor69"

Non-English and Region-Specific

Board owner…do you still come here? Please let me know.

>>186

Let me walk you through this slowly:

>So is this actually about freedom from heavy moderation or is it more just for anarchists?

Yes. This is not an "or" thing.

A pure anarchist board is free from heavy moderation.

>The UBF is a loose confederation of boards centred around the concept of freedom from heavy moderation.

It does not mean you must have an exact level of light moderation to get listed. Why would you think that?

>I was about to recommend /svidya/ here because it has no bullshit rules about "quality posting" or "no console wars" unlike /v/, but upon seeing /vvv/ I'm not so sure now.

If it is free from heavy moderation it goes here. Vague criteria, but is what it is. As far as I remember /svidya/ was originally "serious vidya" and had lots of rules about being on-topic, more than Mark had at the time. Now maybe both boards have changed, but if /svidya/ is still topic Nazis it probably won't get listed here.

>Does /ubf/ understand the importance of enforcing topicality on topical boards

From everything I have seen, the /ubf/ BO has no interest in your autism and wants to provide a list of boards not run by people constantly looking for things to "enforce". So if you see a banana thread and log in to ban them and say "take that shit back to /b/ faggot!", UBF probably isn't for you.

>or is it more interested in /b/ shit boards with a slice of whatever people want to talk about on the side?

Here's an idea, you could run a board for people with certain general interests while also allowing general discussion amongst this same group of people. I mean you can have what, 15 pages of threads at a time? Only the archival and OC dump boards even need that to begin with.

What are the incentives of being a member of the "ubf"?

 No.175

 No.182

Being a member of the UBF means that you pledge that your board is supportive of free speech and other people's comments and opinions.

Being a member of the UBF is a promise that your board is free from "rulecuckery".

When you partner with the UBF, the UBF partners with you; if you want a link to your board on >>>/ubf/, you have to put a link back. In this way all UBF boards are linked, increasing traffic and bringing new people to boards they only dreamed about never knew about before.

 No.125[Reply]

Hello I have a new board called >>>/demo/ which is focused on the pursuit of Democracy globally. I'm not 100% sure if it will be in line with UBF guidelines, although there's no activity as yet on the board if it were to become active I suspect there might be a number of /pol/ and /leftypol/ trolls. Although I fully support the concept of freedom of speech, in this particular endeavour the board will be committed to furthering democracy, if we are inundated with trolls it may be a necessary evil to simply ban them because we don't have the time or numbers to deal with them. There are simply too many /pol/ posters on 8ch, judging by my original post >>>/b/4428181 we would be inundated with would-be-Hitlers.

That said the board has received very little interest and one post as of yet, so perhaps it won't be necessary to ban anyone!

Thanks for reading, best of luck with your project!

 No.126

Have a link to the UBF somewhere on the board to show your membership and it'll be added.

Good luck

What should be the final solution for wymyn across humanity? I know we should center around wymyn of Europe, but we should acknowledge the wymyn nature.

> found out the reason I was a hand-holdless KV was because of wymyn's "liberation"

> became a white nationalist 7 years back

> hated Jamals for fucking white wymyn

> entered /pol/

> found out after 2 years it wasn't blacks taking the white wymyn, it was other whites

> white nationalism LIED to me

> hatred, hatred for being lied

> hatred, white nationalists would have been ok with me going after niggers, but the true enemy were other whites

> hatred, if a racial war broke out I would have died defending the pile of pussy other people have

Shortly after I outgrew white nationalism. After thinking about it: the problem is not men, it's wymyn.

This is why we rulecuck:

Too much "freedom" let's the weeds grow rampant and choke the life out of the beautiful plants.

And if we do not carefully tend and prune the flowers, they too will turn ugly.

We ought to have limits to freedom.

Hello

I own /pn/ and /thought/

I have also lost the passcodes for them. Please claim them, before they are claimed by someone who wants rules on an imageboard (what a laugh!)

 No.144

>>143

I sent a claim email for both, I'll check my inbox in the morning.

 No.148

I got the email back and received the new login info for >>>/thought/

The email said that: "/pn/ will be reassigned on October 28"

Do you want the board(s) back? Or would you rather I take responsibility for them from now on?

 No.157

>>148

I now own >>>/pn/ as well

I'll just hold onto them for now…

 No.172

I'm going to be dropping >>>/pn/ and >>>/thought/ soon.

If anyone wants them, send me an email and I'll send you the login info

Some boards are necessarily moderated to shape a particular feel to them. They remove the static noise and amplify the core themes they are based on.

In this thread we link boards that may not yet be part of the UBF initiative and may never be due to heavy rules or moderating, however still admirable in some way with respect to freedom.

Lets begin!
