Due to the recent behavior of the /leftypol/ board owner, I've taken the liberty of making this board as an alternative to /leftypol/.

How will this board be different from /leftypol/?

All janitors will have to post in a designated sticky thread every time they delete, lock, or autosage etc listing their reasons for doing so.

Things regarding board moderation, customization etc will be discussed and rely on popular consensus in order to be enacted.

More to be added soon.

Podemos

So the next Spanish General Election is coming up in December this year, and Podemos (Spain's lefty party) are polling at around ~25%.

The wikipedia article on the general election barely features them at all: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_general_election,_2015
It doesn't even look like they're standing :(

What's going on? Can anyone inform me?

Forget red and blue pills, brown pills are the way of the future.

The Ruling Class

Does anyone have any more information like this, about the concentration of economic power in the market? I think I saw one once that showed who owned all these hundreds of news, tv, film and music companies too. This one is for food companies.

What is /ussc/'s opinion on Nietzsche and his thinking? Could he be interpreted in a way compatible with leftist thought?

I think there aren't any real leftists on this website.
When I first saw this board I thought more people would come here to discuss left politics but it gathered only little to no interest at all.
/leftypol/ on its current state is just shitpost general 24/7, this board is dead, leddit is filled with retards to the max. So where should I go if I want to really engage in left politics discussion on the internet?

Rousseau

So he's not a name you hear much in these parts, and he wrote before Hegel or Marx came on the scene, but he's credited with stirring up the French Revolution (ideologically, not intentionally) and his political philosophy is remarkably comparable, in its end goals, to Marx et al (http://www.cambridge.org/gb/academic/subjects/philosophy/philosophy-general-interest/general-will-rousseau-marx-communism)

So, any other Rousseau fans out there?

I like how someone is unironically using Rosa Luxemburg as an avatar and is still a feminist.

These people are hillarious.

What is your opinion about reddit communism? How do we reach out to these people?

Are distributists allowed here?

>Goal: to have property widely distributed, more self-sufficient communities

>libertarian and socialist elements
>comprehensive religious, political, cultural, economic system
>opposes fascism and crony capitalism; opposes total economic anarchy (laws which reflect morality; opposes usury or charging exorbitant interest as the banks do)
>major players: G.K. Chesterton, Hilaire Belloc, Jean Ousset

Why do right-wingers always believe that Marx thought that all workers should have equal pay for unequal work? He clearly states in 'critique of the gotha programme' that this is not the case.

"But one man is superior to another physically, or mentally, and supplies more labor in the same time, or can labor for a longer time; and labor, to serve as a measure, must be defined by its duration or intensity, otherwise it ceases to be a standard of measurement. This equal right is an unequal right for unequal labor. It recognizes no class differences, because everyone is only a worker like everyone else; but it tacitly recognizes unequal individual endowment, and thus productive capacity, as a natural privilege. It is, therefore, a right of inequality, in its content, like every right. Right, by its very nature, can consist only in the application of an equal standard; but unequal individuals (and they would not be different individuals if they were not unequal) are measurable only by an equal standard insofar as they are brought under an equal point of view, are taken from one definite side only – for instance, in the present case, are regarded only as workers and nothing more is seen in them, everything else being ignored. Further, one worker is married, another is not; one has more children than another, and so on and so forth. Thus, with an equal performance of labor, and hence an equal in the social consumption fund, one will in fact receive more than another, one will be richer than another, and so on. To avoid all these defects, right, instead of being equal, would have to be unequal.

But these defects are inevitable in the first phase of communist society as it is when it has just emerged after prolonged birth pangs from capitalist society. Right can never be higher than the economic structure of society and its cultural development conditioned thereby"

Sometimes, I get the feeling that many libertarians and conservatives would like Marx if they actually just read what he had to say, unlike what /pol/ thinks he had to say.

Post things that debunk general widespread misconceptions in this thread!
