Why can't there be an aliens game that's actually good on its own without depending on the Ayy lmao design and Ayy Lmao franchise?

If that's the case then I divorce my love from Aliens and bury my ring inside Giger's coffin.

Give me good xeno games that could accomplish what Giger's black dick with teeth couldn't manage all these past decades.

07e47b No.12568080

Because shit devs latch onto big franchises to get an audience. They would otherwise be nobodies.

Same with most star wars games.

Same with most comic book games.

Same with most 40k games.

Same with most game of thrones games.

Devs who choose these automatically want the wider audience. Only a few of them know what they are doing.

I think they should go exploring the Engineer/Creator territory in the games. The comic books and novels tend to be unrefined garbage but games allow more creative freedom than movies while not being completely at the whims of a single fuckwit with a keyboard or pen. Hell, AvP2 was a better story than the two movies put together.

That's why we have NuDoom, NuPrey, FF15, etc or reboots of old established games, movies, cartoons which has nothing in common with original media except the name alone.

It just seems so counter-intuitive. I can't even begin to think of a way a total biological makeover from an adult being to an egg could work on biological level. However, looking at what happened with Shaw and the trilobite, I could totally buy into a xenomorph raping a female human and causing the pre-existing egg cells into forming some sort of proto-egg inside the womb or a hugger in itself. This would explain explain a bit in good manner why the one Alien in 1 decided to toy with Lambert and quench my thirst for depraved sexual horror stories

Am I the only one that is tired of Xenomorphs?

I don't mind a game set in the same universe as the two, or three first films, but I think the xenomorph has been done to death, and there ought to be other Eldritch horrors to be found. A proper prequel to Alien could be interesting if done in the Amnesia: The Dark Descent style

What they should avoid at all cost is considering Ridley's fanfiction Prometheus/Alien: Covenant to be canon.

O'Bannon and Giger are spinning in their graves ;_;

>Den of Geek: Where would you like to see the next Alien film head? Perhaps back to the more high-budget universe that you—

>Dan O’Bannon: I’d like to see it stop. A horror movie’s a fragile thing, and once you’ve gotten past the original, it isn’t scary anymore. So you do a bunch of sequels to a horror movie, all they do is drain any remaining impact out of the original. All of the sequels to for instance Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers, same thing; they over-expose the ideas, and when you look at the original, it’s not as effective as it would have been if you had just left it alone.

>But money makes the world go round and Hill and Giler saw that as the best way to make more money without having to do any work. So as producers with an in at Fox, they just continue to shove those things through.

>Den of Geek: So as far as you’re concerned the Alien franchise is pretty much played out now?

>Dan O’Bannon: It was played out after the first one, as far as I’m concerned. Cameron, in the first one, did about the only thing you could do, which was that he changed to a different genre, from a horror movie to an action film. But once he had done that, there really was nothing left to do. And they just keep squeezing the thing till it’s an empty bag. But as long as it keeps bringing in money to them, they’ll keep doing it.

Because the idea is to invoke horror.

Something alien is unknown. A faster, stronger predator is a primal fear. A predator using an exotic way to kill you that bypasses your defense is primal fear. A predator that renders your weapons ineffective is a primal fear. A predator that acts unlike an animal and is known to plan ahead is a primal fear. Humans in general are scared (and aroused in a lot of cases) by fear, so as we become the greatest predator on earth, we craft bigger predators who can outmatch us because we have a need to feel it, because feeling it means we wish to surpass it, and surpassing it means we become the top of the food chain.

And then, we create porn of it because we find skilled hunters like that really sexy because at our core, it's at the core of our race that hunters who take down challenging, dangerous predators are respected greatly and lusted after, by all sexes.

Since the Aliens aren't real, the removes the fear factor and makes people focus on the sexual attraction factor. there'd be a lot of fucking if they were real and didn't have acidic bodily fluids.

acd730 No.12592292

To be honest the alien only was scary when you couldn't see it. The moment I found out the "perfect predator" is a lizard with cucumber head I couldn't take it seriously anymore.

And here I thought I was the only one who saw the larger promise of the universe instead of just it's popular predator. I mean really after Aliens they'd explored the Xeno enough. Shame modern Sci-Fi screenplay writers aren't working with the same freedom of years past. Prometheus was an attempt to explore beyond the Xenos, but because modern screenplay writers have no imagination it just became a retread of the same territory but with different designs.

If they had made a proper sequel to the three Alien films, either as a game or as another feature film, it should not try to connect the Xenomorphs or the Space Jockeys to Earth and humanity. It cheapens the mystery from the films, and it makes the universe seem tiny and human-centric. Going to the homeworld of the Space Jockeys or the Xenomoprhs would also ruin the mystery.

I would’ve liked to see other instalments – beyond the Alien trilogy – to go for an even more Lovecraftian feel, where shit is way more fucked up and horrible than we could ever fear, and that we are totally insignificant in the universe. The Space Jockeys never had anything to do with humans, and the Xenomorphs were only one of the horrors that could be encountered – Alien meets The Thing anyone?

It's not good, it's decent. It's bloody as hell and most of the characters are played well enough. There's still some idiocy like in Prometheus (one of the security dudes literally sticks his face into one of the fungus clusters) but not anywhere near as much.

And I think the movie thought they were surprising us with how evil David turned out to be. But if you like David you might appreciate the movie more than I did, but the movie has this odd habit of not showing us the cool bits.

David takes out Walter off screen so they can NOT SURPRISE US that it's David impersonating him when he gets back to the ship.

Several neomorphs are shown approaching a cloud made up of the bioweapon that David unleashed on the Engineers and… Nothing. We have no idea what that was and it's never seen again.

I liked aspects of it, but it's totally botched movie in many aspects.

You could make the Engineers cool with some rewriters and clarifications. I think they are kinda doing it by referring to separate Creators now standing above the Engineers, which apparently were just tools created by them.

The scene where the pilots sacrifice themselves by FTL-shooting the juggernaut down is actually pretty epic. The music helps and it plays into the themes of ruthless selfishness vs. orderly greater good that we see throughout the series.

And as stated before, David, who is the most likeable character in the movie despite being a treacherous sociopathic machine. Mostly because he's not acting like a retard or a bitch all the time, he actually explores and does stuff, and is kinda the underdog protagonist anyways.

you're still talking about prometheus right?

two things to notice:

>the title

its like most people didn't even notice this, but its based purely on greek mythology,

sort of forgot a bit of the exact names, but Zeus had a bunch of semigod kids, one of them made humans to their image (prometheus) other semigods hated them though and tried to exterminate them (making the xenomorphs)

HELLO, its like you don't even watch aliens from the past

>its act by act the original Alien movie

besides the initial setup for the mission, they go every same step, from waking up from hyper sleeping, getting close to the planet and exploring the alien vessel with amaze, to finally everything turning up to shit and only Rippley surviving it

some of the scenes are even obviously the same, its was a brilliant way for Ridley Scott to sort of make the same Alien movie, but different and on modern standards

alright so I ask forgiveness for my lack of nerdiness on the greek mythology subject, had to research a bit:

http://www.hollywood.com/movies/prometheus-theories-greek-mythology-offers-answers-spoilers-57235863/

so it turns out that Titans were the semi god beings, children of Zeus, one Titan shaped mankind out of clay (the engineer shredding its dna on mud)

but Zeus disliked mankind and gave Prometheus a sentence of forever had his liver being eaten by an eagle (the alien eating on his insides)

and something along those lines, similarities are too great to ignore, of course I don't really think they had that idea all along since the first Alien movie, but still pretty gud

The stab wound on David's chin should have been a dead giveaway to Daniels as to his true identity, how did he manage to heal it so quickly?

Other questions, while I'm at it:

Why was the juggernaut crashed into the side of a mountain when David had already docked it to unleash the pathogen?

If David created the Xenomorphs, why is there an ancient juggernaut, complete with chestbursted Engineer, full of their eggs in Alien?

How did the biosphere of the planet not completely implode over 10 years without any animal life to sustain it?

Why did the Engineer civilians all dress like they lived in the fucking bronze age?

How did that one guy get knocked up by a facehugger that spent less than 10 seconds on him?

>The stab wound on David's chin should have been a dead giveaway to Daniels as to his true identity, how did he manage to heal it so quickly?

Perhaps it actually was Walter, or at least his body.

>Why was the juggernaut crashed into the side of a mountain when David had already docked it to unleash the pathogen?

Maybe he didn't want to land in middle of the clusterfuck he caused?

>If David created the Xenomorphs, why is there an ancient juggernaut, complete with chestbursted Engineer, full of their eggs in Alien?

Not necessarily the same strain. David could've just rediscovered the optimal recipe.

>How did the biosphere of the planet not completely implode over 10 years without any animal life to sustain it?

Hard to say how the rest of the planet was like. And 10 years isn't that much.

>Why did the Engineer civilians all dress like they lived in the fucking bronze age?

They were just another sub-group created by the actual engineers. Not real engies. Might explain why they limited themselves to one city only, they might lack the urge to expand and explore. They are meek. Humans can be devilish. Probably that's why they wanted to vipe us out in Prometheus.

>How did that one guy get knocked up by a facehugger that spent less than 10 seconds on him?

Interesting question. Prehaps it's not something as simple as just pushing an egg down the throat. Perhaps it actually injects some sort of agent similar to the goo or the spores, which causes the xenomorph to manifest from regular flesh. In such, perhaps it already managed to throw some precum inside the dude, changing the gestation process but slower?

Btw, I really, really fucking hope that Scott isn't aiming to explain how the ancient juggernaut got on LV-426. That shit doesn't need an explanation.

Okay.

>Huge colony ship with 2000+ people

>only one landing ship that could fit maybe 10 people or so

The colony ship itself is apparently able to enter the atmosphere if the atmospheric conditions are favorable and more equipment capable of flight is on board. They only had one landing ship capable of passing through an atmosphere.

Still kind of dumb.

>Total system shutdown because ONE FUCKING SAIL GUT UNHOOKED.

That's just the only repair they are shown doing (besides Daniels and Walter adjusting some cargo that shifted), but I assume there was more actual repairs necessary seeing as how Walter estimated it would take 48 hours to finish.

>they need to WAKE EVERYONE UP because of that, not just maintenance personnel

15 people.

>They live in the literal space age, have designed a man-made robot that is in every way equal or superior to a person and instead of just using that one fucker or some lower-tech equivalent to fucking hook a sail or conduct repairs, they WAKE EVERYONE THE FUCK UP.

It's possible Walter could have done all of the repairs himself, but I doubt he could have completed them very quickly. Keep in mind that he strongly warns of a possibility of another neutrino burst which is what caused the system failures that needed to be repaired.

>Some guy CATCHES FUCKING FIRE WHILE IN A SLEEP POD FOR NO REASON

System failure caused by the neutrino burst.

>All it takes to bring 2000 people closer to their immediate deaths is Tennessee's completely unjustified desire to hear from a group of less than five faggots, even after knowing that his own wife is dead and they may all be carrying a pathogen and should have been quarantined.

Hype material strongly implies Tennessee is not the most responsible of people, hence why permission of a second bridge member is required to get the computer to comply with his command.

A lot of your complaints can be explained by the fact that the characters in this film are more like frontier settlers and not soldiers. They are company people, glorified space truckers, and not particularly disciplined. Their security team is probably more comparable to mall cops than trained soldiers, and it's made pretty clear that Oram was a poor choice for his position from the start, not even taking his sudden promotion into account, so his lapse in judgment regarding David is just more of the same.

Although…

>Landing on an unknown planet with no masks on

>BUT MUH AIR COMPOSITION WAS FINE

>Yeah nigger but what is alien bacteria (exactly what happens after)? What if sneezing collapses the ecosystem? Yeah, fuck you.

How many movies actually play this out realistically? The original Alien film only has them in suits because they know the atmosphere is toxic (and the helmets were lit up so we could see their faces despite the fact that in reality this would make it impossible for them to see through the visors).

This is a science fiction trope that is never going to go away.

44319d No.12600334

>The stab wound

I figure a puncture wound probably wouldn't be that noticeable. Or it's a plot hole.

>Why was the juggernaut crashed into the side of a mountain when David had already docked it to unleash the pathogen?

I expect David "crashed it" himself, to lend more plausibility to his story of not being able to control the ship, hence the "accidental" activation of the bioweapon.

>If David created the Xenomorphs, why is there an ancient juggernaut, complete with chestbursted Engineer, full of their eggs in Alien?

I expect the events of the next movie will involve David completing the xenomorphs to the level of the original films, and an Engineer discovering it and loading up a ship with eggs somehow (after some manner of conflict, of course).

>How did the biosphere of the planet not completely implode over 10 years without any animal life to sustain it?

*shrug* Probably a plot hole, but there's a possibility the fungus bioweapon could be supplementing some of the natural processes necessary to keep everything running. Odds are that would only function as a temporary stop gap and not keep the planet going indefinitely.

And then there's that scene I mentioned before with the seemingly still active cloud of bioweapon particles flying around, as well as a potential neomorph hive.

Then again, we don't see the entire planet. Maybe it hasn't completely spread across the whole globe. The Covenant crew did zero in on Shaw's signal, after all.

>>12599812

>Why did the Engineer civilians all dress like they lived in the fucking bronze age?

No reason not to? Their ships have rooms that look like temples all over the place, with seemingly religious murals as well. Odds are the casual wear of the Engineers is very basic. This isn't exactly a new concept of very advanced aliens living very simple lifestyles with very simple comforts. It's probably meant to drive home the seemingly religious attitude the Engineers are implied to have towards their science, making them appear more like monks than scientists.

>How did that one guy get knocked up by a facehugger that spent less than 10 seconds on him?

Fucking bingo. This pisses me off to no end. If facehuggers are capable of impregnating that quickly it makes the whole process of providing life support for hosts rather superfluous.

>>12599812

>They were just another sub-group created by the actual engineers.

We have no reason to think that. They looked the same as the Engineers in the previous film. Them having only one city could be chalked up to any number of reasons… Maybe their race has never been all that numerous? Maybe they lost significant portions of their population in the war the bioweapon is presumably intended for?

>Interesting question. Prehaps it's not something as simple as just pushing an egg down the throat.

I can't buy that. Maybe if the alien that got aboard the Covenant was different from the one that was birthed from Oram, but they appeared the same so they should require the same method of gestation.

>Btw, I really, really fucking hope that Scott isn't aiming to explain how the ancient juggernaut got on LV-426. That shit doesn't need an explanation.

System failure doesn't make a sleep capsule combustible. I can't even begin to understand how a fire that instense can start from inside a capsule with very limited oxygen quantities (nevermind that there are no combustible materials in there).

>walter could not have completed them quickly enough

Which begs for the question of why there is a sole robot walking around during the sleep phase. You can certain argue that they don't have unlimited budget, but that's all the more reason to wonder why the fuck they'd pack such an over-engineered marvel of science (walter) at all. I mean the thing perfectly mirrors a human in almost every possible way. It could have been a collection of tools and scrap metal with a good AI, no need for encyclopedic knowledge, pretty boy packaging. I mean the fact that walter is bipedal is already overkill.

They could have had 4-5 R2D2 wannabes and achieve much better efficiency.

>A lot of your complaints can be explained by the fact that the characters in this film are more like frontier settlers and not soldiers. They are company people, glorified space truckers, and not particularly disciplined.

If that's true, and these guys don't have any military background at all, who in their right fucking minds would trust the lives of 2000+ people to a handful of space truckers? It just gets that much dumber.

Furthermore, if that is true, who in their right fucking minds would grant fully automatic firearms, shotguns and hazardous materials to fucking space truckers with no form of authority or supervision within millenia of their location? This is like a set up for lord of the flies, not a freaking "hunt or be hunted" type of film at all.

Honestly, it's the best comedy with visual humor currently being shown at cinemas. I laughed uncontrollably way too many times watching it. mostly at bad cgi and at the xenos whenever they appeared

Xenomorphs don't produce sperm since they're mostly asexual. I think the Queen is technically the only female or they're all female. The Queen did technically form a vagina so it could give birth to that shitty human-alien hybrid.

There was a Xenomorph King that was genetically made. They were incredibly hostile more than a Queen.

Changelog

Everything from the last Doom thread plus:

>guns now have dynamic lights from muzzle flash (this applies to synths and marines as well)

Ripped from Project Brutality. Might swap it for D4T's muzzle flash in the future because that one seems to work better.

>plasma caster has dynamic lights as well

>flamethrower works a bit differently

Also ripped from PB. Not completely happy with how it works though it does work better than the original one. There's an annoying giant ass red flare when the flames get close to their maximum range that I can't seem to get rid of.

>all xeno variations (armless, legless) now work as they should

>all enemies have a custom Death.Fire (don't explode, don't spill blood, turn dark grey, give off smoke)

>xenos are very resistant to fire damage

>xenos hate fire (doesn't work as it should on praetorians for now)

Currently this means they will try to jump away (or in some cases, toward you) and retreat for a little while if you hit them with fire

Alien: Covenant spoilers below, if you give a shit.

The albino as fuck Engineers created Humanity, and we in turn created Androids.

Specifically, David was created by a white man, Peter Weyland.

David was too human (flaws included) and had a desire to create.

There's a 10(?) year gap between Prometheus and Covenant, so he had a decade to experiment and fuck around with the black goo.

David made the Xenomorphs.

David is a white, Aryan looking Android.

Xenomorphs were created by whites confirmed.

Aliens get traits from the species they incubate inside, which means that they got humanities hive-mentality from us and behave like sheep in groups

Not to mention they go to any lengths to protect the queen, which makes them take suicidal orders

This ultimately causes them to act like lemmings when the hive is under attack by a small presence, which is why predators prefer to go into hives in small groups

Alternatively hwne the alien ios by itself, it doesn't act like a sheep but rather a super intelligent killing machine, I.E Alien (1)

Alien 3 on the other hand was just retarded, although the alien was born from a dog

Overall this makes the alien a flexible horror monster, both acting in a slasher or a zombie film

I think people give the xenos on aliens too little credit. they don't really act like "rabid animals" there, they act according to the tools and limitations they have.

Take the first contact for example. If you watch it just once you probably won't pay attention to this, but the moment the marines enter the hive they were being watched, and they couldn't act until they knew what they were dealing with. After a marine torches a facehugger what do they do? They surgically remove everyone carring a flamethrower because now they know what it is and what it can do to the hive (Drake was carrying one but it was underslug). After they remove the most obvious threat another one appears: the smartgun. They hadn't seen a smartgun ever before, and when its power is shown they quickly move to eliminate the only two people carrying them: Drake and Vasquez. I'd say this is the only reason anyone even got out alive. The pressure was all on these two and nothing survives against a burst of that thing. You also need to remember that they were just waking up from hybernation. The alien in the first movie was also slow as fuck when waking up. They didn't seem to kill more than maybe 4 or so on this scene.

The next scene that makes people think aliens on the second movie are too dumb is the corridor scene with the sentry guns. It gives us the impression that the guns are mowing them down, but we only ever see about 2 or 3 of them get killed, and while you might say "that's because of the cuts", if you pause you'll see that when the aliens are getting hit they're alone, not accompanied by a horde. It's more probable that they were sending scouts to test the defenses, which was about the only thing they could have done at that point. Remember also that a single alien can move after getting his limbs blown off and will only die after catastrophic structural damage (getting sprayed by automatic gunfire by guns shooting giant caseless explosive tipped rounds), so these lone scouts could have made the sentries waste a lot of ammo. I've seen accounts that say about 8 aliens were killed by the sentries.

>>12627318

They're resistant to small calibers much like polar bears or rhinos. A 7.62x39 for example is something I believe would hurt them.

They are "perfect organisms" as in they will always trive in a natural situation, no matter what. Low pressure, high pressure, high temperatures, low temperatures, whatever air composition, toxic or not (for us), and of course other possible predatory life forms: scratches, slashes, punctures, bludgeonings, etc.

Going against bullets is not a natural situation, and the fact that they are not immune to them don't make them any less of an almost perfect organism, biologically speaking. Their only weakness is their way of reproduction but that is necessary for the horror element.

>they didn't seem to kill more than 4 or so in this scene

By that I mean aliens and I wasn't taking into account the shotgun scene in the APC.

Something people also don't take into account is that the hive in the lore is not an "ant hive", it's pretty fucking eldritch/cosmic horror like, in that it starts warping stuff around them, and I'm not talking about the goop that they use to build it.

People start forming chtulu-like cults around a hive, even going to great lengths to protect it. In the presence of a queen, people start to change or go mad, much like in the presence of an elder god, and she can influence people through dreams or nightmares. Xenos are pretty fucking interesting as both an eldritch horror and as a biological creature, it's just a shame people choose to remember them as "just big ants" or "those things that the predator eats for breakfast".

I think we can go deeper anons

What if the pheromones are psychic?

And rather then the alien queen being the psychic ruler, it is in fact a psychic pheromone that controls everything, including the queen

And that it ranks queens as more important pieces which is why it defends them so much

That also explains why in one of the avp games, an alien drone abandons the queen, because the collective pheromone psyche knows that it has to die in order to prevent the predators and humans from constantly coming and finishing off the aliens there

It also might explain why some people are more prone to psychic attacks than others, as they have been in contact with aliens before

I don't remember if the psychic thing is only the queen or if the other ones have it in a more limited manner, and I don't think they use to communicate between themselves. It makes sense for them to have all the psychic shit from a lovecraftian persepective, considering they're sadistic as fuck. It made much more sense when they were still a mysterious thing with origins that you could only dream of, but I guess Ridley shat on that now.

I though it would be sufficient after I reduced the chance of monster spawning (especially monster closets)

Maybe I was just having good luck. I'll have to tweak it even more, then. I'm trying to balance this for co-op too and one problem I found with reducing monster spawn is that with co-op it could make the whole thing too uneventful. I mean, maybe you can say it helps build tension, but I don't want it to become a joke with more than one person. I need ammo to be enough of a problem that you can't waste it like mad but not enough to make it ridiculous and unplayable. My predicament now is basically this:

>if I increase the ammo spawning I have to increase the monster spawning and then we're at point zero again

>if I decrease monster spawing even more the mod becomes too uneventful (this is still doom after all) and I'd have to make every monster more powerful to compensate and it would fuck everything up

Ammo needs to be scarce but not too much. Monster spawning needs to be enough to keep things tense and interesting (even more if you have to watch your ammo), but not like in the original mod where you encounter a monster closet with 50 aliens every 5 meters. That not only doesn't work in this version where the aliens are actual threats (and makes a lot of maps unplayable, particularly the ones with lots and lots of ambushes), it also makes you burn out faster doesn't make for good gameplay.

I've never liked the idea of telepathic xenos, but putting it like that does give it a bit credit. However, I wouldn't there being something that makes it more than just "space magic".

I know Evolve is pretty disliked game, but it had some pretty good ideas on how to make the creatures feel "scientific" while giving them the Lovecraftian horror of unknown. The monsters' capability to spawn massive amounts of energy and biological data out of nothing was explained by their DNA-equivalent having some sort of resonance to a dimension that humans used for warp drives, "Cherenkov space". There was a really cool bit of dialogue where the one character explains how the monsters' DNA is too volatile control in lab environments, but when controlled with a similar equation and energy that humans use for FTL they managed to sabilize it. Some autists had looked at the equation that was explained somewhere and it was basically a vector. Meaning that they stabilized the creature's DNA by synchronizing it something that moves inside that Cherenkov space.

I think Alien could make use of their own version of elder gods, and I think it still might be possible with Scott stating that the Engineers were created by something greater. Just hope that they have the brains to write it well rather than doing even bigger whiter and balder dudes.

QUESTION

Why don't some people rate Alien 3 the same as Alien and Aliens? I personally love it as I see it as a great conclusion to Ripley's story. This beast that has haunted her for a good chunk of her life is back again in her life, two people she cares about are dead and to top it off she is surrounded by rapists. That to me is really oppressive atmosphere that most people would be crushed under as there is danger from every angle. I personally find that as engaging as the previous two.

That was a waste of my time, literally 20 seconds out of an 11 minute video is all that was committed to criticism towards the final product. It can be summed up as this.

Hicks and Newt were killed off.

Prisoners were in effect the protagonists.

The movie can't make up it's mind if it wants to be action, eldrich horror or a religious film.

The first and second points are subjective and perspective so I see this as a case of "I didn't like it" than bad. The third point is the only one that has any weight to it yet this can be counter argued that the theme of Alien 3 is oppressive. I like that and it's something that it excels more at than the first two.

Another point is that it's fine being a "depressive" film, but it should at least end on a good note. Instead, it's depressive from start to finish, not even trying to finish it with a good ending.

Alien ends in a sigh of relief as Ripley sleeps in a shuttle.

Aliens ends in a sigh of relief as Newt, mommy and daddy are sleeping.

Alien 3 starts off saying "FUCK YOU" and killing off beloved characters right off the bat and ends with a bald depressed woman falling in a lava pit while a chestburster is coming out.

Terrible way to end the trilogy but still better than Resurrection which had a lot more problems

Prison planet I can handle.

Depressive brownbloom mood I can handle.

Dog alien I can understand and makes sense.

Unimpressive forgettable characters, fine.

Shit CGI is pushing it.

The problem with Resurrection, Prometheus and Covenant is that they leave little for imagination. They are so explicit and careless when expanding on the universe canon. "Here's the space jockey. Yep, a tall pasty white bald dude. Oh btw they didnt create the aliens, an android did."

The first 3 films (yes even Alien 3) still retained that mystery and isolated feeling to it. The suspense and atmosphere did most of the work.

I thought it was tacky. Way too "cinematic" with her falling in lava and holding the thing with her hands after it blew a hole in her.

I also have a problem with killing off Hicks and Newt but less the idea and more the reason for it and the execution. It felt like he wanted Ripley as hero too much and didn't account for these characters at all, so he had to find a cheap, quick way to deal with them so he could focus on her. Their deaths are not really taken advantage of, they're just there so she can shine. At this point it just feels forced, what with her having to deal with these things yet again.

It honestly would be better if we accompanied different characters in the third movie, in a different situation which would also give us a good excuse to show new and interesting things not yet seen, like some of the other Giger concepts.

I loved Isolation, and it's honestly one of my all time favorite games, but I can see why some people hated it.

There's no insanity meter but it goes on a little too long, and has a pretty sequel bate-y ending. Some people didn't like the AI and this and that, but I think it comes down to expectations. If you like stealth and horror you'll probably like Isolation. There is combat in it but it's not that great, and the game does pretty much force you into it at points, but not that often. It's also pretty hard for a AAA game.

Isolation is a game about being hunted by the Alien. If that sounds fun: have at it. It does the "you are being hunted" thing very well, I really like how the AI will specifically pick up on little things you do. I would always wait to hear it go back in the air vent, so eventually it would start going in and out of the vent multiple times. Made me feel like an intelligent being was working against me. It's not the best game ever made, but it's pretty good for stealth horror and alienfags.

No way could you best a pred in fucking melee, they are extremely durable.

It's just as retarded as AVP2010 and ACM where you can beat an alien in melee and physically knock it back.

The whole humanity shtick was that we have marines with immense firepower, but physically frail and slow as fuck compared to the other 2 species which basically stalked, hunted and preyed upon the marines which are always on the defensive.

Well why wouldn't they be?

Predators are overpowered in the AVP games, just like how they're meant to be.

They are balanced in the fact they suck at fighting more than 1 opponent. The Predator arsenal is designed around 1v1 and methodically changing weapons to suit the situation and enemy.

They're hard to master, and they also come with less quantity than the marines or aliens. And you get more points for killing them in MP. Pred comes with a lot of responsibility and skill cap that most people don't have.

>>12630810

I actually want to make the predator have only about 190hp (as much as a runner) and then change his AI so that he uses the cloaking device agressively instead, and turns really invisible with it, both to you and npcs. "If it bleeds, we can kill it".

First I need to strike a balance between ammo and monster spawn, though. Also need to change praetorian hp because they're overkill right now.
