d9bcef  No.16279576

>>16279515

Okay well it's apparently better than the remake. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but I'm having fun with it. It's not a Metroidvania so much anymore, since all the different sectors are now planets you have to travel to. Space travel is just a level select, and you can check if you missed an item there. But to be honest, you're not gonna miss any unless you try to force your way around them. Even then, the levels are made in such a way that you'll stumble upon them eventually. What's more, most of them–beyond the ones you find on planetoids–are essential for progression.

The story is your real doll from the last game (the remake) still had remnants of space aids from the final boss encounter. It rapidly overtakes half her body, and makes her grow bigger tits. Clearly an ass man, you assume the role of Jason, as he takes her to space in his tank, since Earth had fuck-all to cure her with. During your journey, you'll encounter other tank drivers, who got retconned as a gimmick in the "deep lore" of Blaster Master, and often times try to kill you due to misunderstandings. They also have alien androids that co-pilot with them, and they form stereotypical duos. One couple is written to talk like Southerners, because they resemble Edo-period Japanese people.

You also get a wall-jump for your tank, which is tricky to work with. All of Jason's weapons on foot are different, and he has a counter system with different moves you can acquire. He looks kinda edgy with a cloak now.

All I can say is, the planets themselves are your standard mazes with puzzles. They're not too hard, but I've found myself dying to the environment more than I'd like. Bosses are pretty difficult, too; I died the most to one of the other tank pilots. You get to fight one of them on foot, too.

There is a Blaster Master 2 on Sega Genesis I think. I know it's a notoriously shitty sequel. I don't know much about the game boy version except that there was one.

If you want to get technical the original game was called Metafight, it had a completely different storyline about saving a cute girl from an alien kingdom or some shit. For the US version the publisher rewrote the whole thing and attached an intro cutscene about a kid chasing his pet frog, and nips thought that was actually more interesting than what they originally did. Zero reboots the whole thing with a plot that mixes the stories of both versions into this odd mishmash. Somehow it worked.

BMZ2 isn't even a first party title, Nintendo doesn't seem to intervene with third party devs so long as they get past the rating boards.

Reggie's first public words were "I'm about kicking ass, I'm about taking names and we're about making games" specifically because he wanted to break the company away away from being family friendly. Also remember that not only did they fund Bayonetta 2 and 3, but also asked for the Nintendo-themed outfits in Bayo 2 to be more skimpy.

And what does a third party indie game have to do with Nintendo anyway? The censorship from Sony and Valve seems to have really messed with anons' minds.

Enjoying the game so far, only have gotten to Gonbei though. And add new elements to the old formula (falling with the car recharges your special meter for faster gameplay). It does bug me that it looks like an 8 bit game, I'd rather it look like 16 bit game.

Surprised people even talk about Blaster Master Overide, hardly remember anybody talking about that except for nostalgia's sake back when it was released. I feel like the Blaster Master Zero series brings more to the table (extra chapters, tank vs tank fights, story, more boss fights) than Blaster Master Overdrive, but Overdrive had way better graphics.

I think I just threw up a little. It had nothing but realistic but badly designed and garish looking textures, the kind that fit in with early CD-era games, the kind that scream "because we can!" without regard to "but should we?".

The visibility of game elements suffers, and there's next to no style to be found.

Overdrive deserves to be forgotten alongside entries like Blaster Master 2 and its 16-bit graphics.

Finally finished the game. Enjoyed it, probably a lot more so than most people because of the nostalgia goggles from enjoying the original Blaster Master.

Had more elements to the game than I thought they would add like a second playable character.

The ending was better than I thought it'd be. I didn't expect much from these budget games, but they increased the quality by a notch or two with the extra levels / vehicles and story.

>What was your end game time

I'd say around 10-15 hours to beat the game.

My end game time says 22 hours, but that's got to be a mistake (probably left the game running while I was doing something else). According to a second save file I was halfway through the game at 8 hours.

>how’s the replay value looking

Horrible. No new game+, no starting game as other playable character, no switching tanks on the fly, no playing as the comrades you meet in the game.

The ending might be different depending on whether you get the extra fetch side quests for each comrade but I'm not so sure. I get the feeling it might only add extra dialogue/moments/help during the 2nd last boss fight, not sure if it changes the ending at all.

I could start game from 2nd save file halfway through to check, but not really feeling like doing it. You end up dying in the last two planets a lot.

What they SHOULD have done is allowed you to play as each of the comrades/tanks/Eve in a new game+! Thing is, Eve's combat style is super nerfed except for her "slow time" ability, so I can see why that didn't happen. But there's no excuse why they couldn't let you play as any one of the three comrades! They should've even let you play as that "rival" like character Liebniz, or even the dead Roddy guy who was a pilot just like you.

Holy crap, looking for more artwork to post I stumbled on some old tweets from their english twitter account. They had later patches that let you play online 2 player co-op versus bosses, or online PVP, with the guest characters too! Damn…I'm a fan of this game and I didn't even know that.

THIS is what they should have had out of the gate for Blaster Master Zero 2!

I found some artwork IntiCreates made for stuff like New Years, and download milestones.

I just remembered how the original game was completely different in Japan (there was no frog, your character helped build the tank not randomly find it falling down a hole). There was no woman in the original western version of Blaster Master, but in the japanese there was a Jennifer Cornet.

Reading up on it now, the story for the series kind of goes all over the place because it would get changed for the western market, where it was more popular than it was in its native Japan, and spin off series would add more weird stuff into the mix. Eve started out in the western novelization of the game, not even in one of the games itself.

Reading all this stuff about the storylines for Blaster Master it just hit me.

In Blaster Master: Blasting Again, you play as Jason & Eve's son named Roddy. Roddy's support droid is Elfie.

In Blaster Master Zero 2 you find Roddy's gun, he's long since dead and his gun is the only thing left. You find Elfie ghost later on, and pilot their tank. I hope that's just name dropping because it's pretty macabre viewing it from the angle that Eve finds proof of her future son's death without realizing who he is.

I was also able to appreciate the foil stuff going on. Liebnez lost his support droid and reacts in anger & suppression. Later when you meet Elfie, who is a support droid who lost her pilot, she's able to act as a sounding board to Liebnez to bring about his humanity

I'm also wondering what Liebnez is going to do when he gets to Earth

Really, the absolute madmen at Inti went insane making everything canon, the namedrop at the very end of the true ending made it 10/10 forever for that reason.

Eve is absolutely from the children's novelization, and while Zero follows something similar to the plot of the western release of Blaster Master, it's also implied that the events of Meta Fight are also canon. Eve's creators/parents are the pilot of the original NORA MA-01, Kane Gardner, and the scientist who designed the tank, Jennifer Cornet. The enemies are now written to be something of a midpoint between "Lord Goez's space army" and "guts mutants", and Eve mentions that she knows them as something different (likely the Invem from Meta Fight.)

Don't get me wrong, the addition of Roddy and Elfie was fun, along with the main character from Ikki (and his companion from a Japanese novelization of that game!) but nothing was as fucking awesome as that single dialogue box. It's like it was speaking directly to me.

The physiology of Planet Stranga natives is bizarre and complex.

Kanna is a native to that planet, right? The way I figure it she's just a sentient plant with roots that happen to become the shape of a buxom woman's body, but she has no head, so she uses a mechanized pot as her "face". Either that or Planet Stranga just has weird magic that causes pot plants to grow eyes and a mouth.

>Well shit, now this has me curious. Are any of the other Inti Creates games good?

The MegaMan Zero and MegaMan ZX series were great, and a worthy sequel to the franchises. I'm just realizing they were created by IntiCreates, even though I saw their logo flash on my screen's start up so many many times.

I was very hopeful for Mighty No.9 when I heard they were being made by the company who had the directors for MegaMan Zero / MegaMan ZX (which turned out to be IntiCreates). I didn't know how they could fail. Then I saw all the drama about Mighty No 9, like their tumblerina community manager, and I became hesitant to buy it. When Mighty No 9 got released, I only heard bad things about it (Inafune would even defend it with "It's better than nothing", Sonic on Sega's twitter account would repeat these words to him as back handed mocking him). I also heard stuff about how it would crash one of the consoles. I still haven't played Mighty No 9, but I hear it's just "OK", and its big gimmick is dashing into enemies (which was already in the MegaMan X series, so it's not really ground breaking).

I'm actually thinking of trying that Gal Gun series now.

>>16308233

The WiiWare version was, in my opinion, superior to the original. I thought it was a worthy successor, but it gets a lot of flak.

Genesis: Couldn't hold my interest long enough to beat a level

Jr: Really a Bomberman game & doesn't have a tank

Enemy Below: Plays like the first game, which is good

Blasting Again: hard to describe. Seen my bro playing it for hours, and it looks clunky. Definitely a PS1 title, the experimental bare bones are there but needs refinement.

>>16310147

I'd say westerners like exploration games more, they seem to love open world games more like GTA, Skyrim etc.

I think the real reason why this game sold so well was because it hit the boyhood fantasy at just the right market at just the right time. You weren't Link in Hyrule, you weren't Mario in Mushroom Kingdom. You were a regular kid who got a badass tank, and that resounded with the emerging 8-bit market at the time really well. Young children love big stuff (like Barney & Big Bird), seeing them as grown up protectors. Even boys love huge construction equipment like Dump Trucks & steam rollers. Giving them a fantasy where they control a tank then save the world, hit the market at the perfect time when young boys were buying the NES in the budding 8-bit market

Seems the 1996 on the tank android's hat is a reference to when IntiCreates was established.

No Blaster Master game came out that year, so I'm guessing that's what it's about.

>>16308514

When you put it that way, it is very odd. I thought her face was just "cartoony" like Mickey Mouse, just drawing eyes on a pot is like "magic" and the eyes suddenly function for no logical reason. Saying that the pot is mechanized to resemble facial expressions is very interesting, a little disturbing too.

What's even more confusing is she's got goggles for her eyes, so they must work somehow.

I'm guessing Kanna is related to the those weird two-legged jumping plants, being that both look humanoid.

The plants on Planet Stranga are odd. There are a lot of enemies that would normally attack you, but instead they've got a planet Stranga plant growing out of them, so they're passive like brain dead zombies. Just sitting ducks for you to kill. Some enemies just shoot out power ups instead of the usual bullets they fire at you. Weirdest of all is that fetch quest plant, that launches into space & is capable of interstellar flight. You find the plant on another planet, and you shoot at the enemy next to it before it can kill you, but guess what? The enemy's a zombie now since it's got a plant sticking out of its head.

This is actually a little distrubing. It's like the planet itself shoots seeds into space to "infect" other planets into turning into copies of itself.

This reminds of that Phazon planet in the Metroid Prime series that would send out seeds to infect other planets and take them over. It's unsettling, but at least Straga is peaceful. Still it reminds me of a plant version of the borg from Star Trek.

>Wait so were the level 5 and 8 bosses originally frogs?

That always bugged me whenever I fought those enemies. I kept wondering if I was fighting my frog, just grown super huge into a mutant giant…and now the pet I set out to rescue I'm now killing instead.

Thankfully there are two big frogs, so they can't both be Fred, so maybe neither is Fred & that assured me a little. Graciously at the end of the game you see Fred on your shoulder.

Damn this game was hard playing it as a kid. I remember abusing the grenade + pause glitch every chance I got. Let the game paused like that on final boss for like 5 minutes just to make sure it was dead.

Don't remember it too well to give exact descriptions. It's been like 9 years since I've played Overdrive, and at that point it was like 10 years since I had played the original. When I played Overdrive I was just having fun, going around, destroying stuff with my ever transforming tank that was getting new upgrades that didn't exist in the original. In the Overdrive you also got some snazzy new stuff while you played in dungeons on foot, without your tank. The biggest things I remember about that game was that it was just fun destroying everything with my tank's new toys…and the gauntlet to the final boss where I was stuck running from enemies and all their bullets. I had a good time, and thought it was better than the original.

Looking for more images to post, I can see some problems that I didn't recognize back then. The levels were all boring caves. Sometimes fiery caves, sometimes icy caves, but it's missing the variety that the first game had which would go from forest, to castles, to sci-fi techno city, to water world, to "the walls are alive and everything is moving".

Another thing somebody else pointed out is they changed the jump height of the tank to be much lower, probably to make the grapple hook more useful. Thing is this screwed around with the level design and made ledges everywhere, instead of bigger wide open spaces.

I also see that the enemies were firing way more bullets on the screen, and here that sometimes the game overwhelmed you with enemies.

Her eyes and face are completely functional, since she's ambulatory and she needs to be able to talk and see. But she doesn't seem to need to eat anything, Kenwood at one point just pours mineral water into her head. So the mouth seems to be exclusively for communication and succ.

May actually be a good thing since it means Stranga has its own defenses against mutants. The mutants have trouble converting the native flora and fauna of Stranga which is why it results in weird anomalies like enemies that are too big, enemies that are passive and enemies that shoot powerups. The planet could prove the most useful for wiping out the mutants.

Genesis' Blaster Master 2 plays like a fucking Euro-peon early '90s platformer. Only play it if you're absolutely desperate for a fix. Story goes Lightning Beings raided Jason's shed which had Sophia the 3rd, barely managed to patch it together with non-standard parts to make Sophia the 4th, and goes on a genocidal crusade again.

GBC game is Blaster Master 1 with a key lock system on the bosses so you actually have to explore more of an area instead of just fucking going to the boss, killing it, maybe making a side trip to get some more gun energy and then back on the boss massacre.

PS1 is an actual sequel, Jason's dead, Eve's dead, their children, Roddy and Elfie are now the inheritors of Sophia and have made Sophia 7. Music's solid, the game plays at about 20 FPS, it's pretty janky but I like it.

WiiWare version was yet another remake of the first game featuring the faggot who got saved in the Worlds of Power book and there's no Jason.

1) Game got a new patch, seems like it was just to fix bugs

2) In original game, seems like there was going to be a stage 9, but it got cut. So they just put the stage 9 boss right after the stage 8 boss (why their backgrounds are so different). The prize that stage 8 boss would've given seems to be a "walk on spikes" part for your tank.

I fired up Blaster Master Overdrive just now, wanted to take pictures of the ending & such (have a capture card now). I'm not sure I'm enjoying the experience, there's a bunch of frustration, then again I'm jumping into the hardest stage from a save file without having played the game for 10 years.

THE GOOD

Tank has grapple hook.

Tank can walk on ground spikes.

The player's gun has three different gun settings, lose gun stats when you get hit doesn't affect the gun settings you weren't using at the moment.

There's a big screen wide bomb in dungeons

THE BAD

All areas are now just caves, no variety like in first game. Level design more cramped, and not in a good way. Jump height is lower. Hover doesn't let you fly, just slows your descent. You can't walk on ceilings anymore, just walls. This all means you have to rely on your grapple hook more to get around, and since the grapple hook has a set range that means you'll almost never be in wide open areas because there have to be ledges for you to hook onto.

The tank doesn't have any sub weapons to hit enemies below you. The homing missiles are sorely missed. Grapple hooking onto walls doesn't let you stick onto walls. While walking on walls you're defenseless, you can't even shoot. The main tank's gun shots feel weak since it doesn't seem to have been upgraded, even though the grapple hook got upgraded.

In dungeons, you are slower when you keep your gun pointed in a set direction, this usually means you'll get hit since the enemies + invincible bullets are faster than you. There are many enemies around, they fire many bullets. Sometimes killing eneimes will cause them to explode into a cluster of 15 bullets. Sometimes there are invincible pillars that just shoot bullets constantly. There are enemy bug spawn points that can't be killed. In the end, it feels that it is better to run away than it is to kill enemies, since just taking a single hit handicaps you in further fights since getting hit lowers your weapon specs.

Took two hours to kill the final boss after repeated attempts. The trick is to just get hit as little as possible, since everytime you get hit your offensive power suffers. The more hit you get the weaker you attack, and you end up in quicksand you can't escape. Final boss can summon hundreds of little monsters, some taking 5 bullets to kill, and it's very easy to get overwhelmed & chased by crowds of enemies you can't outrun. Further, you get stunned for a second when you get hit by some enemies, allowing the crowd that's chasing you to catch up & stun lock you to death. Did I mention your health constantly drains in the final boss area? Damn it was annoying. Look at https://youtu.be/1ikBNUfhoI8?t=327 to see what I mean.

Also, here's an interview with Yoshiaki Iwata, art director on the original game and producer (director?) for Overdrive http://archive.fo/n7Fmo

Hence my opinion that one only needs to have played the original game, and Zero. Everything else reeks of "I'm going to put my spin on this and steal the laurels" with a bunch of stupid changes and fucked up gameplay.

I'm blaming that entirely on Sakurai bias.

No, I'm not joking. The only characters that were still sexy were Bayonetta (since she had to be) and Palutena.

Game got patched, the biggest change was planetoid C-2 had ladders lengthened so it's easier to get the life power up. Also, the website was updated with more info on the comrades and bosses too.

>Ver.1.2 (April 01, 2019)

>Various behavior and stability issues have been fixed, including the following:

>Fixed an issue where control configuration would be reset.

>Fixed an issue where the map and various enemies in Area F would disappear.

>Fixed an issue where the game would not auto-save when entering some top-down planetoid stages.

>Fixed an error where collecting some items would not be properly reflected on the mini-map.

>Fixed an error where the player could get stuck in Dungeon 4 on planet Montoj under certain conditions.

>The difficulty of planetoid C-2 has been adjusted.

Kanna's history might be here in this profile of Kenwood

If this image depicts Kanna's past, as hinted by the pot with a face like Kanna has, then it seems like Kanna was one of those plant with leg things on Straga.

>>16312596

>May actually be a good thing since it means Stranga has its own defenses against mutants. The mutants have trouble converting the native flora and fauna of Stranga which is why it results in weird anomalies like enemies that are too big, enemies that are passive and enemies that shoot powerups. The planet could prove the most useful for wiping out the mutants.

Turns out that the Mutants got their asses kicked invading Straga, and had to settle to putting their boss on a little planetoid instead!

I replayed Blaster Master Zero 1 and am catching all these little extras that I didn't see the first time around.

In the original Blaster Master, in the western versions you started out in a cave and saw your tank blast out of the cave that's got brown everywhere.

But it wasn't like that in the original japanese version, you started out in a lab and blasted out of the hangar that's got blue everywhere. I didn't realize that until I read about it a little while ago. Replaying the game now, when you get your second tank and blast out of the cannon barrel of the space ship, it's a direct homage to the blue hangar you blast out of in the original japanese version.

They even tried to incorporate some of Blaster Master Overdrive in the game too, since the mutants came in a comet a few hundred years ago, just like the comet heading towards earth in Blaster Master Overdrive.

Ran out of time, but there was a bunch more stuff I wanted to mention. I just found out there was a "bad ending" in Zero 1, there's extra lore & dialogue when talking with Eve after you get the Wall power up & backtrack through stages. Maybe there's a bad ending in Zero 2 that I missed! Also, some bosses are weak to specific gun levels, that was a slick extra. I'm just going to post some more pics then I gotta stop.

One thing I never saw before were the boss illustrations for Zero 1. Some of them look really good.

Also, there's an official page where you can download wallpapers for the first game about special events (like celebratory pics that the game hit download count milestones, or happy new year, etc) http://blastermaster-zero.com/en/zero/special/special02.html

Found the last image exploring the html code on one of their japanese links, have no idea what IntiCreates game it's about tho, but it's good enough to share.

All this time, and I never knew that there was a Bad Ending in Zero 1. Eve takes on the mutant core all by herself, but the tank SOPHIA III wasn't strong enough, so she sets it to self destruct..

Later in the true ending you find out the mutants infected both the tank SOPHIA III plus Eve herself. It was real cool when you had to fight your own tank as a boss. And this was after you climbed through the barrel of a gigantic space battleship that was firing the entire time.

It was interesting that one of the ending screens had Jason, Eve, and Fred on the tank SOPHIA. In the original japanese version it was just Jason sitting on the tank, since the female protaganist (Jennifer Cornet) was the sceintist who created the tank but didn't join the pilot Jason with it into enemy territory. In the western version of the original game, Fred is next to Jason on the tank, since the western version's story was rewritten as a search for Fred. Now in Blaster Master Zero, they had everybody on the tank

Area 4 - after area 6 boss defeated

JASON: So she's really an android…

NARRATION: There's no way we'd ever be able to make an android like her with the technical capabilities we have on Earth right now. An AI that has not just emotions, but the ability to think and act on its own is still just a dream. Makes me wonder just how technologically advanced Eve's home planet is. I can only imagine at this point, though.

EVE: If you're gonna stare like that, I'm gonna wonder what in the world you're thinking about…

JASON: Ahh, sorry about that. Man, I really can't see you as anything but a normal human.

EVE: ……Are you saying that you like chicks who are robot-like?

JASON: Nope, I think the way you are now is good…

EVE: I…I see… Well, that's good. Hm? Why do I think that's good…?

Re-playing the game, I found all this extra in-game "radio" conversations with Eve that filled in extra lore in the game, kind of like codec calls in Metal Gear.

Like mentioned before in this thread, they tried to maintain in the lore from the original japanese version (pretty much written out in every other game in the series). Here its like the story of Meta Fight took place back on Sophia (the planet) hundreds of years ago.

I also tried to write down a lot a lot of the lore here at https://pastebin.com/yGPvQ2xw but got tired of it after a while.

Area 1 - after area 6 boss defeated

NARRATION: SOPHIA III - a tank vehicle bearing the name of Eve's home planet. It was created as a battle tank that could destroy the mutant threat that is plaguing many planets. It's made to operate automatically, but it also has a "Blaster Rifle," a weapon that needs to be operated by hand. From a perpertual motion system to an auto-repair function, this tank sure has a lot of features. It even has a support bot that helps it perform emergency maintenance. The bot activates when SOPHIA's AI has a tough time handling the situation at hand.

EVE: That should pretty much sum up all the info I have on SOPHIA. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

JASON: Well, there is one thing… Up until now, SOPHIA's been fighting against mutants, right?

EVE: Yup, that's right.

JASON: So…when in the world did the mutants and SOPHIA come to this planet anyway?

EVE: Hmm…I would say…they probably arrived hundreds of years ago.

JASON: Hundreds of years ago? It's crazy to think they've been here so long.

EVE: Due to a twist in the dimensions of space, by physically travelling between my home planet and earth… It seems like a rift in the axis of time was created that reveresed the flow of time…couldn't tell you how or why, thought.

JASON: Rifts in the axis of time, huh? Solving a mystery like that is definetly out of my league… Although, speaking of mysteries, I remember reading about an unidentified comet that hit the Earth hundreds of years ago…

EVE: Makes me wonder if that's how the mutants came here. But, that would mean the Mutant Lord has been dormant this whole time… When we pursued the mutants to Earth, I feel like it wasn't that long ago.

JASON: I see…so that's how it went.

NARRATION: Poor thing had been fighting by itself for a long time. Thank you, SOPHIA.

It's a fighter, like Street Fighter 2, with wacky characters. I played it in emulation, it's a lighthearted fun game. Characters like a giant 8-foot cat ridden by a little girl, robot armor for a police man + police dog, some ripped Indian Jones guy, some dog-girl, etc.

all the support androids seem to have an animal theme to them. I'd like to repost the images, but that'd just be bad taste.

Eve = Cat (kitty knee pads & cat ear hairbands)

Tae = Fox (fox multi-tail, & fox-ear from headphone thingies, and fox-head symbol on belt)

Kenwood = Bull (horns & hoof-like boots)

Tesset = Jellyfish? (bulbous hat as the head, and hair as jellyfish tentacles)

I can't figure out what Elfi could be, there's not enough images of her to make a correct guess. One thing I'm surprised by, is that she dresses like Jennifer Cornet a little, with her white themed outfit, and she even had that Nike-like down arrow logo on her left breast.

>Kanna's history might be here in this profile of Kenwood

>If this image depicts Kanna's past, as hinted by the pot with a face like Kanna has, then it seems like Kanna was one of those plant with leg things on Straga.

So this lends credence to my theory here: >>16308514

Kanna is, for all intents and purposes, the plant growing out of the pot. The plant you see growing out of her "head" is the TRUE Kanna, and everything growing out of the bottom of the pot from her "neck down" are just her very sexy roots. The pot is the most mysterious thing about her - it's either some kind of mechanical pot that allows her to emote, see things and talk, or it's some kind of magic pot that has real sensory organs and a mouth.

The native plantlife on Stranga can grow legs but it's not known if this is the result of mutant interference or if it was always like that before the mutants came along.

>>16332297

Fuck I loved Waku Waku 7 so much. It also bears mentioning that Yacupo, the bunny creature seen with Kanna and Kenwood, is another Sunsoft reference. I want Arina to come back.

If you read Kanna's profile, it outright says she's a skilled botanist that plants and grows all sorts of things in her pot. Some of the plant up top might be her, but it's probably mostly herbs and shit she planted there herself.

And, I'm not sure how you missed this, considering it was directly posted in the thread, but Kenwood's profile states he dug Kanna out of the planet's soil and raised her into a "pilot". There's no "theory" that she's the plant; it's clearly, directly stated.

>If you read Kanna's profile, it outright says she's a skilled botanist that plants and grows all sorts of things in her pot. Some of the plant up top might be her, but it's probably mostly herbs and shit she planted there herself.

This doesn't disprove my claim that she's the plant in the pot. Yes, she can plant other stuff in the pot to grow alongside her but that doesn't really say anything about my theory that she's the plant growing out of the pot.

>And, I'm not sure how you missed this, considering it was directly posted in the thread, but Kenwood's profile states he dug Kanna out of the planet's soil and raised her into a "pilot". There's no "theory" that she's the plant; it's clearly, directly stated.

Yes, I saw this, but my "theory" is mainly about the specifics of her physiology. I think she is the plant in the pot wholesale, and everything growing out of the bottom of the pot is just vestigial - she doesn't need it for survival. If she were to be "decapitated" from her roots, her head would still be alive because her head is just a plant in a pot. And even still with this profile explanation there are many mysteries yet unsolved.

Are all the plants on Stranga like this by nature, or is it a result of mutant invasion? Is Kanna the only sentient/sapient plant or are there more of her people? Is her face pot mechanical or magical? Do all of the Stranga natives use pots like these or is it just her?

I kinda hope they either leave these unanswered or answer these in a way that raises further questions, because I kinda love mysterious shit like this in video games.

I wonder if 3D Blaster Master that's not shit could work as a third person shooter adventure. Not like GTA or Naughty Dog generic open world action game. More like if Metroid Prime was third person and in a tank.

Thought about riding SOPHIA with a rocket booster up a ramp manually shooting flaming headless horse mutants with free aim canon to escape an erupting volcano. Then hover boosting to fly mid-air onto a walking nine-legged titan monster walking in a sea of lava. I then wall climb onto its belly and hitch a ride to the next island. In the meantime I exit my tank while the tank is anchored to the belly to climb inside a cavity, blow up a lava rock with a grenade for an SP capacity upgrade.

I feel like this is a game I would play on the GBA in the early 2000s.

I know you could say that every decade was the decade that "Gaming wen't wrong" but I miss the early 2000s for gaming so much.

In a way it was at this middle point. A sweetspot. Graphics looked good enough that you could have individual fingers, but people still wanted to use a good artstyle to make it tick. Tech was getting powerful, but not as an excuse to just render more graphyx. There was a max of "Realistic" and cartoony characters.

What really gets me is I remember a review of Megaman Zero 4 which was essentially "This is good but just more of the same and Im tired of more of the same". And this was in an actual games magazine.

Things where so good, that good games where getting OK reviews because there was just so much choice.

>hi-tech tank

>HI-TECH

What the fuck is it so hi-tech on this piece of shit "tank" design when it exposes its crew with a giant glass cupola? A single or two larger caliber bullet fired from a anti-material/tank rifle is more than enough to kill its vehicle crew, even a ancient world war 1 tank protects its crew better than this "tank". Its design has more in common with a armored car than anything else. Look at the first picture, this is how you design a cupola which adequately protect its crew from fragments and other projectiles that isn't fired from a large caliber weapon. There is so many design out there or whatever references they could have used instead that has a much better plausible chassis and then for some reason they decided on THIS "chassis"? I can throw in tons of more armored car images that has a better crew protection than what this cover claims as "hi-tech" tank.

>inb4 but its just a video game bro

Yeah no shit that a game which the only method to kill a entity is reducing its health bar with whatever weapon the other entity has available doesn't give a single fuck how the fuck the design looks like when it is just about reducing a single variable in order to kill a entity, so the entity design can be whatever the fuck you have in mind as it doesn't account for its design features.

Sophia/Metal Attacker vehicles are armored all-terrain, air, sea, land, and space mobile weapons platforms. Blaster Master Zero takes place hundreds, if not thousands of years in the future. Meta Fight took place on a whole other planet. Just because a viewport or canopy is transparent does not mean that it is made of silica-based glass.

Looks like you are a pretty smart guy, I like that.

> Just because a viewport or canopy is transparent does not mean that it is made of silica-based glass.

At the first thought it would have sound believable but as you also mentioned:

>Blaster Master Zero takes place hundreds, if not thousands of years in the future.

The rear part of the vehicle as it is clearly shown at the cover is covered with riveted metal plates which is by their standard probably a very ancient method of repairing a vehicle, they would have access to something such as nano like technology that would be able to repair and/or modify the vehicle without looking it came fresh out of the factory with crude machinery and tool set. By this year they would also have something that gives the vehicle crew much better protection without compromising their line of sight ability, such as camera panels whose materials is flexible enough to be shaped in different form thus giving its a larger degree of sight and without letting the opponents know how its exact crew position looks like in order to prevent getting attacked by snipers. So if anything else the artist of this cover is to blame for not researching its technological background much more thoroughly in order to avoid those potential disastrous pitfalls in armored vehicle engineering.

> Just because a viewport or canopy is transparent does not mean that it is made of silica-based glass.

Thus being said the enemy would also have the potential access of a ammunition that its kinetic penetration capabilities is strong enough to pierce said material which obviously would be one of those minimum requirement for a thousand year appropriate anti-tank/material rifle, else such weapons that doesn't meet the requirement to penetrate a "hi-tech tank" that is commonly used by their opponents is a useless weapon as obviously state doesn't have sufficient enough firepower.

>Calm your "I've been a /k/ommando for two weeks" autism a bit.

I did. I could also have complained about its dubious design of wheeled locomotion which is not common at all for a main battle tank which is a new standard in the modern world (post World War 2 era), MBT's such as M1 Abrams, Leclerc, Leopard 1 and 2, T-80 series upwards and more. It pisses me off enough that normalfaggots are saying that anything that looks like a armored vehicle with a tracked mount is a fucking tank.

I hope curing the corruption in Eve has the unexpected side effect of making her able to have a child somehow. I wonder if the inorganic mutants are nanomachines. Does the books try to explain?

That's the western art which as you know was always weird with old games. The real tank design is the pic here >>16334774

>I could also have complained about its dubious design of wheeled locomotion which is not common at all for a main battle tank which is a new standard in the modern world

Those wheels are also rockets and scuba gear and etc. After a certain point in the game you spend more time flying around in battle than on the ground, especially when fighting other "tanks" in this setting. Comparing it to a tank is probably the wrong way to go about things as it's more a spaceship with wheels.
