What game? Bow is much stronger in MHX, especially at low ranks. If you're feeling strong in 4U's LR with Bow you are playing well and/or know which skills are important.

Bow stays very strong throughout all of 4U if you understand the mechanics. I haven't played much MHX yet.

Keep an eye out for the Lagiacrus sets. It requires a lot of materials in HR that you can't get until you're almost G Rank which turns people off, but it's very strong. The G Rank variant is also great and won't become obsolete, so it's worth getting for every Bow hunter.

I just want them to put the shortcut to charging shields to red back in CB again as well as make Guard Points rewarding again instead of taking away from it. Those are the two things they should not have changed.

They also shouldn't have buffed the shield.

Everything else is fine.

The excuse I keep hearing is that they want you to use axe mode more instead of staying in sword and shield mode and then unleashing with the axe… but that's how it's meant to be played. At least, that's what I thought. Axe mode is for exploiting huge openings. You GP and go straight to burst because it's your reward for successfully using a parry/royal guard type mechanic.

So they remove the charge shield to red shortcut from the sword. Only charges to yellow, which is mostly useless. Charge to red means going into axe mode first, initiating burst, then pressing R. Giving you a pretty huge middle man JUST to get back to SnS mode and have a charged shield. And then they buffed the shield to last 3 minutes, always do KO/Elemental damage, and never reduce your sharpness.

But they want you to use axe mode more, apparently.

A huge part of me wants to drop CB (it was my favourite weapon since MH4. Before I just used LS) and just go Bushido LS, but it feels so hard to part with it. I want to make it work. Bushido CB is the closest thing to how it played in MH4, because you never have to go into axe mode, then go back into SnS mode to charge your shield.

Still, the fucking over that GP got still makes it worthless. Now it's like two separate weapons instead of a weapon that flows into each form.

If you think learning how to play a game by playing it is bad design, I don't think video games are the hobby for you son. In the case of weak points specifically too, there are visual effects that make it clear when you hit them that have only gotten more pronounced as the series goes on.

There's nothing new about it, localizations have always been shit - it's just been getting more and more obvious. That's the point - their job isn't to "localize" a game, it's to fucking translate it. These fucks who seem to think their job is to change things around are overstepping their goddamn boundaries.

This is my biggest gripe right here, on 3U it was really hard to tell, the only difference was the amount of blood spatter, and you can't really see it besides "big splatter" and "small splatter", this is why I think adding Hitzones is a good thing.

I did not play 4 though, so I cannot attest how pronounced that was.

Also, it's hardly "learning the game as you play it" when there's no way you'd learn it without external sources.

So I just got MH4U after 100 hours in 3U. A bit late to the party. But the thing is I haven't updated my 3ds since I've been planning on downgrading after I buy a 32g sd card and there is a software update for 4U. If I update 4U will it also update my system?

I just can't choose a main weapon to use most of the time. There are so many that are fun to use that I have spent like 30 hours and still have not completed LR yet because of it. Should I just pick one and just experiment later?

I've debating whether to go Bushido CB, or just go Longsword or Bow, simply because how CB got shit on.

I'm continuously looking at CB in Bushido and it's like… they just didn't put any effort into it. SnS bushido block charges your shield to red, sure. Or you can do a really quick charged slash. Fine. They're both something I can do on my own without the need of bushido block, but that's fine.

But bushido dodge in axe mode doesn't reward you with ANYTHING. You dodge, you run in and… normal X axe attack. Or normal A axe attack. What the fuck. Not even a run in + ultra or super. That's fucking stupid. Nothing special like what Longsword or virtually every other weapon gets. It gets moves… I can do in every other style.

Hunting horn has a new move in Monster Hunter X where the user swings it two times in a circular motion, and then causes it to have a sonic boom effect of some kind. Anyone know how to do it?

Yeah, also if you do it on the first song you play, it auto plays Self improvement, so you can just get that twice in one song with no encore.

Also helps keeping everyone buffed up and makes sure you're aggressive.

Really Great change to the weapon

It's one of the reasons I find the hunting horn artes so mediocre. They encourage you to play like a pussy as opposed to constantly belting out sick songs for your friends.

Sonic burst is also great if you want to kill your friends
