You do realize p2p connection means that
1) Their initial investment into a genera they have never tried before was smaller (lower risk)
2) Operating costs on their end are dirt cheap meaning this game will be officially playable for much longer than if they had gone dedicated.
3) There's no "waiting for a room" bullshit or legitimate complaints about Nintendo's server hamsters.
4) Techfags only have to copy a mm (rather small, cheapish to run) not a whole fucking server (basically the entire game, needs actual servers not hamsters) to pserver the game, and the connection-making is just a single IP redirect on your router.
P2P was literally THE best option. The only real downside is the unicorn nature of the fucking wii ethernet adapter- but that wouldda been a problem in a dedicated setup anyways.
So please, stop being the colossal faggot you are and put the two functioning neurons you have together before your next post.

I guess being someone who had the jap copy, splatfest still feels the same with the new changes, because every single one of them was hard as balls to win if you are S rank. You get sandwiched between the really good S+ japs and the average S'es and the scales don't always tip in your favor.
So basically the change just managed to make NA and EU splatfest more "fair" by making it as difficult as your current rank.

Fairly sure it's doable if you use squeelchers, snipers, or I believe a sspro, too. Their range isn't infinite.
You can also cut their range by gaining elevation. The lobbing effect on that glob means it doesn't handle z-tracking well. There's a reason you usually see them flick from high points.

I found time of day also plays a role for me at least. During the night on Splatfest start is comfy.During the day is trouble.
People say it's Peer to peer though it seems that when an increased playerbase gets on that the connection quality seems to suffer somewhat.
OTOH, During Splatfest casual gamers with less than stellar internet are more motivated to play for a while.

I have my suspicions that even though it's purely P2P, we are still pinging nintendo's server, receiving and sending bits of information (not as much as what is sent via P2P), which may be the cause if all the servers are located in japan.

The Japs datamined the game about six months ago. The only time your online match talks to Nintendo's servers is when you're setting up a game and ending a game. You do periodically ping the server so it knows when to boot you back into the lobby, but that's just the time left on the clock/whenever one team reaches the win condition for the round. I don't think it's nearly the same amount of data as what the players are sending to each other.
