osumania is objectively shit for anything other than 4k which is still relatively shit.

I'm still in the early phase of planning it out so there's nothing too concrete to go on, the idea itself is sort of a pipe dream to keep me motivated while I learn how to program properly and learn pixel art because I'll sooner die than allow this to be made in anything else that will tarnish the vision. I'll keep the rest of this stuff in spoilers to not necessarily clog the thread with my stupid shit and so that others can skip over.

The whole idea of it comes from, slightly embarrassing to admit really, several tracks in the embedded video as well as games such as Valiant Hearts and Child of Light. I've been unable to get the idea of a game set in a pseudo 50's/60's American setting that revolves around the "dregs" of society stuck between the ongoing war / tacit partnership between Crime Families / The Mob and Law Enforcement. I'll abstain from talking about the characters and settings themselves in-depth unless curiosity peaks, but I like to imagine the Gameplay itself would be focused around dancing instead of proper fighting Stupid I know, but it just scratches my itches too well What I mean by that is that drawn-out moves and combos would be better rewarded both in execution, effectiveness, and overall points by having the player time his attacks / moves in rhythm with the music. For example having it so that they will be rewarded if they back away and establish a better position / prepare themselves to start a combo while the music is slow-paced / mostly silent with the exception of beat drops while afterwards rewarding them by going full cuhrazy while the song is in full swing. Just one example, I apologize if I explained it poorly. I'd also like to borrow stuff such as the car sequences from Valiant Hearts but remake them to better fit the thematic and purpose of the scene while also adding likewise scenes with running away through alleyways / over rooftops. Graphically I'd also like to have the game set in somewhat monotone / dark colors all around, rewarding players that can pull off their cuhrazy stuns with properly illuminating / coloring in the scene to help subtly add towards the show-business theme of the whole game / plot. There's a few extra mechanics but those are also tied into the characters themselves but if the general gist of it doesn't draw some interest, the rest is pointless really

39ad9d No.8786841

>>8786362

Just play something else if you want to play rhythm games.

I personally think that synthesia is more of a simulator than a game. But if you like stuff with a lot of keys I'm sure you'd like something like IIDX/LR2 or Ez2DJ/AC.

LR2 and IIDX are both 7keys and a turntable and ez2dj/AC is 5keys, a turntable and 4 keys on the top.

But those really aren't entry level, which is where you probably are, so I suggest starting with either stepmania or osu!mania 4k and building up a strong sense of beat and rhythm before moving to more complicated stuff.

ez clutch

>>8786841

Getting used to more than 4keys isn't so bad, and it's better to start earlier than later. There's plenty of entry level stuff in LR2 and you'll often hear high skilled players say it's better to transition to higher key amounts as soon as possible if that's what you're planning to do in the future anyway.

File: 1458725664699.jpg (133.41 KB, 600x839, 600:839, jp_on_rhythm_games.jpg)

>>8786974

This. 4k doesn't teach you the finger independence that 7k needs. LR2 will teach you a strong sense of beat and rhythm anyway, and isn't as strict as IIDX.

That being said, learning 7k will teach you to be at least decent at 4k.

This version of Phase Shift works much like Frets on Fire, however works much more smoothly and reliably.

As for songs that come with this game, they have all charts that are direct rips from

Rock Band

Rock Band 2

Rock Band 3

The Beatles: Rock Band

Green Day: Rock Band

Lego Rock Band

Track Pack 2

Track Pack: Classic Rock

Track Pack: Country 1/2

Track Pack: Metal

Guitar Hero

Guitar Hero II

Guitar Hero III

Plus some scattered DLC from Rock Band and a few other songs.

You're saying that as if its the logical progression to go to more keys, when you play 4k your objective isn't to GET BETTER AT 7K its to get better at 4k

4k and 7k are NOT the same game in any fucking way. Only osu is retarded enough to slap them both as just osu!mania. If you look anywhere else they're literally a different game.

4k will teach you speed and stamina as well as going fast in general.

7k will teach you finger independence.

Also 7k players make shit 4k players so dont give me that "you might as well start with 7k and youll automatically be good at 4k" shit. Very rarely are there players who are actually gods at both but if theyve reached that point then theyll be good at literally anything, they have already ascended.
