>F.E.A.R. Online, the free-to-play "horror shooter" from Aeria Games, will launch through Steam for PC on October 17, it was announced today. The game was announced last summer, and is in development at Korean studio Inplay Interactive.
>You can play the game ahead of then, however, as an open beta for F.E.A.R. Online will be offered through the Aeria Games website on October 8. You can sign up for that beta at the game's website today.
>F.E.A.R. Online underwent an "extensive redesign," which included various "gameplay adjustments" following the game's closed beta, Aeria Games said in a statement today. All of this will make the title a "truly unique first-person shooter game."
>Included with F.E.A.R. Online are ten multiplayer maps and various game modes, one of which is a co-op mode that supports up to four players. The game's storyline runs parallel to that of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origins.
>4 player online co-opWho else excite? Anyone else remember playing the free FEAR Online when Gamespy still worked?

I played the closed alpha. This game is complete and utter garbage, it's a complete disgrace to F.E.A.R and FPS games in general. It's Korean P2W full of microtransactions and terrible netcode. All the animations are wonky and sometimes break. You can't even buy anything, you have a big shop full of weapons and armours/items to rent so if you want to keep the good items you'll need to keep renting.
The 4 player co-op is pretty bad but mostly falls due to the aforementioned issues such as terrible netcode and a disgusting itemshop rent2win system.
For the love of vidya do not go anywhere near this game with a ten foot pole.
